65 Translations
وَالْعَصْرِ
By the declining day
By the time (through the ages)!
TIME AND AGE are witnes
By that time (the life span of man),
By the Late Afternoon,
By Time (especially the last part of it, heavy with events)
I cite as witness the Time
By the afternoon
By the time (the ages),
Hereby God swears by time
By Time—
By the afternoon
By oath of this era of yours (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him)
By the age.
By the afternoon
By the declining day
By the time of the afternoon
I SWEAR by the declining day
(Passage of) time (through the ages) acts as a witness
By time through the ages,
Consider time!
By the time through the ages
By the time
By the time (i.e. historic time is witness that:)
By the time
By the passing time (whose rotation bears witness to the affairs of mankind). Or By the Prayer of declining day (‘Asr, for this Prayer is the middle of all Prayers). Or By the declining time of the day, (when the sun, after shining for the whole day, presents the sight of its setting). Or By the holy era of the Prophethood of Muhammad (blessings and peace be upon him), the sole objective and the most coveted achievement of all ages historic as well as pre-historic, and of all times to come
And/by the time/era/end of day to dusk
CONSIDER the flight of time
And (by) the afternoon! (Or: time)
By the declining day
By the time (of the advent of Islam)
(I swear) by the Time
By the time!
(I swear) by Time
I swear by the time!
By the era distinctive of life on earth
By the ˹passage of˺ time!
By Time,
I SWEAR by the declining da
By the afternoon
I swear by the Late Afternoon,
I swear by the passage of time,
(Swear) And by (Al-Asr) The era (Part of Time).
I swear by the declining day
Time that flies and has flown, bears witness
I swear by the time
By the Time
By the declining day
By (the Promise of) time (infinite), ('Asr also refers to afternoon prayer, or later part in life
By the epoch,
By (the Token of) Time (through the ages)
By (the Token of) Time (through the ages)
إِنَّ الْإِنسَانَ لَفِي خُسْرٍ
man is [deep] in loss
Surely! Mankind is in loss,
Verily man is in loss
Man is certainly loss
Indeed, mankind is in loss!
truly man is in loss —
Indeed man is in loss
Most certainly, human is in loss
Verily, a person (who is unmindful of God and higher values of his life) is pursuing a losing bargain
Surely Man is in the way of loss
indeed, the human being is in loss
that human beings are most definitely in loss
Indeed the human being is lost
man is most surely in a continuous state of loss,
verily, man is in loss
Indeed man is surely in a loss
Truly the human being is surely in loss.
verily man employeth himself in that which will prove of loss
Verily, man is in a state of loss
Surely, the human is in a (state of) loss
Verily, man's lot is cast amid destruction
Verily, the human being is surely in loss
truly, the human being is, surely, in a loss
Truly, humanity is at loss.
Surely mankind is in loss
Lo! Man is in a state of loss
Surely man is in loss
Man is certainly at a loss,
Indeed, mankind is surely in loss
Indeed, man is at a loss (for he is losing his valuable lifetime)
The human is indeed in loss
The human being is indeed in loss.
That truly the human/mankind (is) in (E) loss
Verily, man is bound to lose himsel
Surely man is indeed in (sheer) loss
Lo! man is in a state of loss
the human being is doomed to suffer loss
man is in a state of loss indeed
Verily! Man is keen to pursue perdition,
Indeed, mankind happens to be in a state of a grave loss
Lo! Man is keen to pursue perdition,
Man suffers loss through negligence and misadventure and what his ambition is worth
humans are at a loss,
Surely humanity is in ˹grave˺ loss,
Man is at a loss,
that perdition shall be the lot of Man
The human being is utterly lost
the human being is surely, in a state of loss.
the human being is surely, in a state of loss .
Surely the human is at a loss.
that man is a certain loser,
That man is, and has been, in a state of loss
Most surely man is in loss
Surely, man is ever in a state of loss
truly mankind is in loss
Surely, man is in loss
The human being is at a loss.
The human being is in loss
humanity is indeed at a loss,
people are definitely losers -
Indeed, mankind is in loss
Indeed, man is surely in loss,
Verily Man is in loss
Verily Man is in loss
إِلَّا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ وَتَوَاصَوْا بِالْحَقِّ وَتَوَاصَوْا بِالصَّبْرِ
except for those who believe, do good deeds, urge one another to the truth, and urge one another to steadfastness
except those who believe and do righteous deeds; exhort one another to the truth and exhort one another to patience.
But not those who themselves believe and work righteous works, and enjoin upon each other the truth, and enjoin upon each other endurance
Except those who believe, and do good and enjoin truth on one another, and enjoin one another to bear with fortitude (the trials that befall)
Except for those who have believed (in their essential reality) and fulfilled the requisites of faith, advised each other of the Truth and advised each other to patience!
except for those who have iman and do right actions and urge each other to the truth and urge each other to steadfastness.
except those who have faith and do righteous deeds, and enjoin one another to [follow] the truth, and enjoin one another to patience
Except those who believe and do good, righteous deeds, and exhort one another to truth, and exhort one another to steadfast patience (in the face of misfortunes, and suffering in God’s way, and in doing good deeds, and not committing sins)
Different, however, is the case of those who believe and do deeds of righteousness and (who) exhort one another to (accept and preach) the truth and exhort one another to (abide by it with) patience and perseverance
save those who believe, and do righteous deeds, and counsel each other unto the truth, and counsel each other to be steadfast
except those who believe and do good and recommend one another to the truth and recommend one another to perseverance (and patience).
Except those who believe in God and do good deeds and get together in mutual learning/ teaching of the truth, and of the patience
Except those who have faith, work to make things right, and join together in the mutual teaching of truth, patience, and constancy
except those who attained faith and did righteous deeds, and enjoined upon one another keeping to the truth, and enjoined upon one another patience.
save those who believe and do right, and bid each other be true, and bid each other be patient
Except those who accepted faith, and did good deeds and urged one another to the truth - and urged one another to have patience
Except those who believed and did righteous deeds and who exhorted one another to the truth and who exhorted one another to the patience.
Except those who believe, and do that which is right; and who mutually recommend the truth, and mutually recommend perseverance unto each other
Save those who believe and do good works, and bid each other to truth, and bid each other endurance
except those who believe and do good works and charge one another with the truth and charge one another with patience
Save those who believe and do the things which be right, and enjoin truth and enjoin stedfastness on each other
except those who have developed Faith and performed righteous deeds, and indulged in mutual teaching with Al-Haqq; and mutually prescribed to one another steadfastness (patience and perseverance)
but those who believed and did as the ones in accord with morality, and counseled one another to The Truth, and counseled one another to having patience.
The exceptions are those who have faith and perform righteous deeds and unite in teaching truth and patience.
except those who believe and do good deeds; exhort one another to the truth and exhort one another to patience
save those who have faith and do righteous deeds, and counsel each other to hold on to truth and counsel each other to be steadfast
Except those who believe and do good, and exhort one another to Truth, and exhort one another to patience
except those who believe and do righteous works and recommend to one another, the truth, and recommend to one another, patience.
But not those among them who believe and do good deeds, and exhort one another to Truth, and exhort one another to patience
Except for those who believe and do good deeds and exhort one another to truth and exhort one another to patience (in the face of hardships and afflictions that are faced whilst preaching the Din [Religion] of truth)
Except those who believe, do good works, support one another with the truth, and support one another with perseverance
Except those who believe, and do good works, and support one another with the truth, and support one another with perseverance.
Except those who believe, and do good works, and support one another with the truth, and support one another with perseverance.
Except those who believed and made/did the correct/righteous deeds, and directed/commanded with the truth/just , and directed/commanded with the patience
unless he be of those who attain to faith, and do good works, and enjoin upon one another the keeping to truth, and enjoin upon one another patience in adversity
Except the ones who have believed, and done deeds of righteousness, and enjoin each other to the Truth, and enjoin each other to patience
Save those who believe and do good works, and exhort one another to truth and exhort one another to endurance
except the righteously striving believers who exhort each other to truthful purposes and to patience
except those who believed and did righteous deeds, and exhorted each other to follow truth, and exhorted each other to observe patience
Except for those who adhere to Islamic monotheism and do righteous acts (in this ‘worldly life’), exhorting each other to ‘truth’, and exhorting each other to ‘patience’.
Except for those who believe, perform good deeds, strive for the truth, and strive with patience and perseverance
Except for those who live by Faith and strive to do righteous acts, exhorting each other to Truth and Patience.
Except those whose hearts reflect the image of religious and spiritual virtues and their deeds wisdom and piety, who commended adherence to what is in conformity with truth and accords with reality and promoted the virtue of patience in their society
except the believers who are righteous, and encourage each other to be truthful and patient.In the name of Allah, the Kind, the Caring</basmala
except those who have faith, do good, and urge each other to the truth, and urge each other to perseverance.
Except those who believe and do good work, admonish each other with the truth and encourage each other to patience.
except for those who believe and do good works; who exhort each other to justice and to fortitude
Except those who believe and lead a righteous life, and exhort one another to uphold the truth, and exhort one another to be steadfast
Except for those who have believed and done good deeds and urged one another to the Truth and urged one another to patience.
Except for those who have believed and done good deeds and urged one another to the Truth and urged one another to patience.
Except those who believed, and worked the righteous deeds, and are enjoined with the right, and enjoined by the patience.

Except those who have chosen to be graced with belief, do works that help others and exemplify Truth and exemplify perseverance
Except those who believe and do good, and enjoin on each other truth, and enjoin on each other patience
Except those who believe and do righteous deeds, and exhort one another to preach Truth, and exhort one another to be steadfast
save those who believe, perform righteous deeds, exhort one another to truth, and exhort one another to patience
Except such as (those who) have Faith and do righteous deeds and (join together) in the mutual teaching of truth, and of patience and perseverance
Except for those who believe, do good deeds, encourage truth, and recommend patience.
Except those who believe, and do good works, and encourage truth, and recommend patience
except those who have faith and do good works, and enjoin truth and justice upon one other and enjoin patience upon one another.

Except such as have Faith, and do righteous deeds, and (join together) in the mutual teaching of Truth, and of Patience and Constancy
