1 The Judgment

۞ یَـٰۤأَیُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ ٱتَّقُوا۟ رَبَّكُمۡۚ إِنَّ زَلۡزَلَةَ ٱلسَّاعَةِ شَیۡءٌ عَظِیمࣱ ۝١

O you mankind! Pay obedience to your Nourisher-Sustainer, verily, the Tremors indicating the Hour are a terrible event

yāayyuhā l-nāsu ittaqū rabbakum inna zalzalata l-sāʿati shayon ʿaẓīmu

یَوۡمَ تَرَوۡنَهَا تَذۡهَلُ كُلُّ مُرۡضِعَةٍ عَمَّاۤ أَرۡضَعَتۡ وَتَضَعُ كُلُّ ذَاتِ حَمۡلٍ حَمۡلَهَا وَتَرَى ٱلنَّاسَ سُكَـٰرَىٰ وَمَا هُم بِسُكَـٰرَىٰ وَلَـٰكِنَّ عَذَابَ ٱللَّهِ شَدِیدࣱ ۝٢

The Day you will see all nursing-mothers become unconcerned regarding (the babe) she gave suck; and every pregnant woman abort her pregnancy and you will see mankind as drunken, while they will not be drunken (or intoxicated), but the punishment of Allah is to be most severe

yawma tarawnahā tadhhalu kullu mur'ḍiʿatin ʿammā arḍaʿat wataḍaʿu kullu dhāti ḥamlin ḥamlahā watarā l-nāsa sukārā wamā hum bisukārā walākinna ʿadhāba l-lahi shadīdu

وَمِنَ ٱلنَّاسِ مَن یُجَـٰدِلُ فِی ٱللَّهِ بِغَیۡرِ عِلۡمࣲ وَیَتَّبِعُ كُلَّ شَیۡطَـٰنࣲ مَّرِیدࣲ ۝٣

And among mankind there are some who dispute concerning Allah without knowledge, and follow every rebellious satan

wamina l-nāsi man yujādilu fī l-lahi bighayri ʿil'min wayattabiʿu kulla shayṭānin marīdi

كُتِبَ عَلَیۡهِ أَنَّهُۥ مَن تَوَلَّاهُ فَأَنَّهُۥ یُضِلُّهُۥ وَیَهۡدِیهِ إِلَىٰ عَذَابِ ٱلسَّعِیرِ ۝٤

It is written about him, that he — whosoever follows him, so definitely he: he will mislead him and he will drive him to the torment of the Fire

kutiba ʿalayhi annahu man tawallāhu fa-annahu yuḍilluhu wayahdīhi ilā ʿadhābi l-saʿīr

یَـٰۤأَیُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ إِن كُنتُمۡ فِی رَیۡبࣲ مِّنَ ٱلۡبَعۡثِ فَإِنَّا خَلَقۡنَـٰكُم مِّن تُرَابࣲ ثُمَّ مِن نُّطۡفَةࣲ ثُمَّ مِنۡ عَلَقَةࣲ ثُمَّ مِن مُّضۡغَةࣲ مُّخَلَّقَةࣲ وَغَیۡرِ مُخَلَّقَةࣲ لِّنُبَیِّنَ لَكُمۡۚ وَنُقِرُّ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡحَامِ مَا نَشَاۤءُ إِلَىٰۤ أَجَلࣲ مُّسَمࣰّى ثُمَّ نُخۡرِجُكُمۡ طِفۡلࣰا ثُمَّ لِتَبۡلُغُوۤا۟ أَشُدَّكُمۡۖ وَمِنكُم مَّن یُتَوَفَّىٰ وَمِنكُم مَّن یُرَدُّ إِلَىٰۤ أَرۡذَلِ ٱلۡعُمُرِ لِكَیۡلَا یَعۡلَمَ مِنۢ بَعۡدِ عِلۡمࣲ شَیۡءࣰاۚ وَتَرَى ٱلۡأَرۡضَ هَامِدَةࣰ فَإِذَاۤ أَنزَلۡنَا عَلَیۡهَا ٱلۡمَاۤءَ ٱهۡتَزَّتۡ وَرَبَتۡ وَأَنۢبَتَتۡ مِن كُلِّ زَوۡجِۭ بَهِیجࣲ ۝٥

O you mankind! If you are in doubt concerning the Resurrection, then (consider that) We have indeed created you people from dust, afterwards from a Nutfah, then from the hanging-mass, then from a lump of flesh — formed and (some) unformed, in order that We make (Our Power) manifest to you. And We settle in the wombs what We think proper for an appointed term, then We deliver you out as an infant. Then We (rear you) that you may attain your (age of) full strength. And among you then is he who is allowed to complete (the normal life-span), and among you is that who is driven to the worst part of life with the result that he does not know anything after (having had) knowledge. And you see the earth barren, so when We sent down unto it the (rain-) water, it stirred, and swelled and brought forth all kinds of beauteous vegetation

yāayyuhā l-nāsu in kuntum fī raybin mina l-baʿthi fa-innā khalaqnākum min turābin thumma min nuṭ'fatin thumma min ʿalaqatin thumma min muḍ'ghatin mukhallaqatin waghayri mukhallaqatin linubayyina lakum wanuqirru fī l-arḥāmi mā nashāu ilā ajalin musamman thumma nukh'rijukum ṭif'lan thumma litablughū ashuddakum waminkum man yutawaffā waminkum man yuraddu ilā ardhali l-ʿumuri likaylā yaʿlama min baʿdi ʿil'min shayan watarā l-arḍa hāmidatan fa-idhā anzalnā ʿalayhā l-māa ih'tazzat warabat wa-anbatat min kulli zawjin bahīji

ذَ ٰلِكَ بِأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ هُوَ ٱلۡحَقُّ وَأَنَّهُۥ یُحۡیِ ٱلۡمَوۡتَىٰ وَأَنَّهُۥ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَیۡءࣲ قَدِیرࣱ ۝٦

That is because Allah: He is the Truth and that it is He who brings dead to life, and that He is All-Capable over all things

dhālika bi-anna l-laha huwa l-ḥaqu wa-annahu yuḥ'yī l-mawtā wa-annahu ʿalā kulli shayin qadīru

وَأَنَّ ٱلسَّاعَةَ ءَاتِیَةࣱ لَّا رَیۡبَ فِیهَا وَأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ یَبۡعَثُ مَن فِی ٱلۡقُبُورِ ۝٧

And that the Hour is approaching, there is no doubt about it, and that Allah will Resurrect those who are in graves

wa-anna l-sāʿata ātiyatun lā rayba fīhā wa-anna l-laha yabʿathu man fī l-qubūr

وَمِنَ ٱلنَّاسِ مَن یُجَـٰدِلُ فِی ٱللَّهِ بِغَیۡرِ عِلۡمࣲ وَلَا هُدࣰى وَلَا كِتَـٰبࣲ مُّنِیرࣲ ۝٨

And among mankind is that who disputes about Allah without knowledge, and without guidance, and without an Enlightening Book

wamina l-nāsi man yujādilu fī l-lahi bighayri ʿil'min walā hudan walā kitābin munīri

ثَانِیَ عِطۡفِهِۦ لِیُضِلَّ عَن سَبِیلِ ٱللَّهِۖ لَهُۥ فِی ٱلدُّنۡیَا خِزۡیࣱۖ وَنُذِیقُهُۥ یَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِیَـٰمَةِ عَذَابَ ٱلۡحَرِیقِ ۝٩

One who folds himself on his lateral side (to show disinterest), that he may lead (people) astray from the Way of Allah: for him, in this world, is disgrace. And We shall make him taste, on the Day of Resurrection, a torment of burning (in Hell-Fire)

thāniya ʿiṭ'fihi liyuḍilla ʿan sabīli l-lahi lahu fī l-dun'yā khiz'yun wanudhīquhu yawma l-qiyāmati ʿadhāba l-ḥarīq

ذَ ٰلِكَ بِمَا قَدَّمَتۡ یَدَاكَ وَأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَیۡسَ بِظَلَّـٰمࣲ لِّلۡعَبِیدِ ۝١٠

This is because of what your two hands have sent forth in advance; and that Allah is not unjust to His Abeed (human-subjects)

dhālika bimā qaddamat yadāka wa-anna l-laha laysa biẓallāmin lil'ʿabīd

2 Certainty of Divine Help

وَمِنَ ٱلنَّاسِ مَن یَعۡبُدُ ٱللَّهَ عَلَىٰ حَرۡفࣲۖ فَإِنۡ أَصَابَهُۥ خَیۡرٌ ٱطۡمَأَنَّ بِهِۦۖ وَإِنۡ أَصَابَتۡهُ فِتۡنَةٌ ٱنقَلَبَ عَلَىٰ وَجۡهِهِۦ خَسِرَ ٱلدُّنۡیَا وَٱلۡءَاخِرَةَۚ ذَ ٰلِكَ هُوَ ٱلۡخُسۡرَانُ ٱلۡمُبِینُ ۝١١

And among mankind is that who pays obedience to Allah standing at the border — so if good reached him he became content therewith; and if there reached him a test and trial, he took an about-turn on his face (falling into disbelief). He lost the immediate as well as the Hereafter. This one: it is the evident loss

wamina l-nāsi man yaʿbudu l-laha ʿalā ḥarfin fa-in aṣābahu khayrun iṭ'ma-anna bihi wa-in aṣābathu fit'natun inqalaba ʿalā wajhihi khasira l-dun'yā wal-ākhirata dhālika huwa l-khus'rānu l-mubīn

یَدۡعُوا۟ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ مَا لَا یَضُرُّهُۥ وَمَا لَا یَنفَعُهُۥۚ ذَ ٰلِكَ هُوَ ٱلضَّلَـٰلُ ٱلۡبَعِیدُ ۝١٢

He invokes besides Allah that which harms him not and that which benefits him not. This one: it is the straying, far and remote

yadʿū min dūni l-lahi mā lā yaḍurruhu wamā lā yanfaʿuhu dhālika huwa l-ḍalālu l-baʿīd

یَدۡعُوا۟ لَمَن ضَرُّهُۥۤ أَقۡرَبُ مِن نَّفۡعِهِۦۚ لَبِئۡسَ ٱلۡمَوۡلَىٰ وَلَبِئۡسَ ٱلۡعَشِیرُ ۝١٣

He invokes, surely, that whose harm is nearer than his profit; certainly, he (happens to be) an evil maula, and certainly, an evil friend

yadʿū laman ḍarruhu aqrabu min nafʿihi labi'sa l-mawlā walabi'sa l-ʿashīr

إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ یُدۡخِلُ ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ جَنَّـٰتࣲ تَجۡرِی مِن تَحۡتِهَا ٱلۡأَنۡهَـٰرُۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ یَفۡعَلُ مَا یُرِیدُ ۝١٤

Surely, Allah will admit those who have Believed and performed righteous deeds to Gardens — flow, underneath them, rivers. Certainly, Allah does what He wills

inna l-laha yud'khilu alladhīna āmanū waʿamilū l-ṣāliḥāti jannātin tajrī min taḥtihā l-anhāru inna l-laha yafʿalu mā yurīd

مَن كَانَ یَظُنُّ أَن لَّن یَنصُرَهُ ٱللَّهُ فِی ٱلدُّنۡیَا وَٱلۡءَاخِرَةِ فَلۡیَمۡدُدۡ بِسَبَبٍ إِلَى ٱلسَّمَاۤءِ ثُمَّ لۡیَقۡطَعۡ فَلۡیَنظُرۡ هَلۡ یُذۡهِبَنَّ كَیۡدُهُۥ مَا یَغِیظُ ۝١٥

Whoever had been thinking that Allah will never help him in the world and the Hereafter — so he may stretch out through an approach towards the sky, then let him sever it, then let him behold whether his guile does away whereat he rages (in anger)

man kāna yaẓunnu an lan yanṣurahu l-lahu fī l-dun'yā wal-ākhirati falyamdud bisababin ilā l-samāi thumma l'yaqṭaʿ falyanẓur hal yudh'hibanna kayduhu mā yaghīẓ

وَكَذَ ٰلِكَ أَنزَلۡنَـٰهُ ءَایَـٰتِۭ بَیِّنَـٰتࣲ وَأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ یَهۡدِی مَن یُرِیدُ ۝١٦

And thus We have sent down Ayaatin-Bayyinat. And surely, Allah guides whom He desires

wakadhālika anzalnāhu āyātin bayyinātin wa-anna l-laha yahdī man yurīd

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَٱلَّذِینَ هَادُوا۟ وَٱلصَّـٰبِءِینَ وَٱلنَّصَـٰرَىٰ وَٱلۡمَجُوسَ وَٱلَّذِینَ أَشۡرَكُوۤا۟ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ یَفۡصِلُ بَیۡنَهُمۡ یَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِیَـٰمَةِۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَیۡءࣲ شَهِیدٌ ۝١٧

Verily, those who have Believed, and those who Haadoo (deviated to become Jews) and the Saabioon and the Nasaaraa (Christians), and Al-Majoos (the Magians) and those who assigned partners (to God), truly, Allah will pronounce judgement amongst them on the Day of Resurrection. Verily, Allah is Witness over all things

inna alladhīna āmanū wa-alladhīna hādū wal-ṣābiīna wal-naṣārā wal-majūsa wa-alladhīna ashrakū inna l-laha yafṣilu baynahum yawma l-qiyāmati inna l-laha ʿalā kulli shayin shahīdu

أَلَمۡ تَرَ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ یَ̅سۡ̅جُ̅دُ̅ ̅لَ̅هُ̅ۥ̅ مَن فِی ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَمَن فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَٱلشَّمۡسُ وَٱلۡقَمَرُ وَٱلنُّجُومُ وَٱلۡجِبَالُ وَٱلشَّجَرُ وَٱلدَّوَاۤبُّ وَكَثِیرࣱ مِّنَ ٱلنَّاسِۖ وَكَثِیرٌ حَقَّ عَلَیۡهِ ٱلۡعَذَابُۗ وَمَن یُهِنِ ٱللَّهُ فَمَا لَهُۥ مِن مُّكۡرِمٍۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ یَفۡعَلُ مَا یَشَاۤءُ ۝١٨ ۩

Have you not marked that to Allah submits whoever is in the heavens and whoever is in the earth, and the sun, and the moon, and the stars, and the mountains, and the trees, and the creatures and many of mankind? And (there are) many (among mankind), on whom the punishment has become due. And whomsoever Allah disgraces, then (there is) not for him any who restores honour. Surely, Allah does what He thinks proper

alam tara anna l-laha yasjudu lahu man fī l-samāwāti waman fī l-arḍi wal-shamsu wal-qamaru wal-nujūmu wal-jibālu wal-shajaru wal-dawābu wakathīrun mina l-nāsi wakathīrun ḥaqqa ʿalayhi l-ʿadhābu waman yuhini l-lahu famā lahu min muk'rimin inna l-laha yafʿalu mā yashā

۞ هَـٰذَانِ خَصۡمَانِ ٱخۡتَصَمُوا۟ فِی رَبِّهِمۡۖ فَٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوا۟ قُطِّعَتۡ لَهُمۡ ثِیَابࣱ مِّن نَّارࣲ یُصَبُّ مِن فَوۡقِ رُءُوسِهِمُ ٱلۡحَمِیمُ ۝١٩

These two, are two persons who have opposite views. They have disputed with each other regarding their Nourisher-Sustainer. Then those who have disbelieved: garments of fire will be cut out for them, boiling water will be poured down over their heads

hādhāni khaṣmāni ikh'taṣamū fī rabbihim fa-alladhīna kafarū quṭṭiʿat lahum thiyābun min nārin yuṣabbu min fawqi ruūsihimu l-ḥamīm

یُصۡهَرُ بِهِۦ مَا فِی بُطُونِهِمۡ وَٱلۡجُلُودُ ۝٢٠

Therewith would be made to melt whatever is in their bellies, as well as the skins

yuṣ'haru bihi mā fī buṭūnihim wal-julūd

وَلَهُم مَّقَـٰمِعُ مِنۡ حَدِیدࣲ ۝٢١

And for them are hooked rods

walahum maqāmiʿu min ḥadīdi

كُلَّمَاۤ أَرَادُوۤا۟ أَن یَخۡرُجُوا۟ مِنۡهَا مِنۡ غَمٍّ أُعِیدُوا۟ فِیهَا وَذُوقُوا۟ عَذَابَ ٱلۡحَرِیقِ ۝٢٢

every time they intended that they may come out therefrom, from anguish, they will be driven back therein (through these catch-rods) and (they will be reminded): taste the torment of burning (in Hell-Fire)

kullamā arādū an yakhrujū min'hā min ghammin uʿīdū fīhā wadhūqū ʿadhāba l-ḥarīq

3 Believers are Triumphant

إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ یُدۡخِلُ ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ جَنَّـٰتࣲ تَجۡرِی مِن تَحۡتِهَا ٱلۡأَنۡهَـٰرُ یُحَلَّوۡنَ فِیهَا مِنۡ أَسَاوِرَ مِن ذَهَبࣲ وَلُؤۡلُؤࣰاۖ وَلِبَاسُهُمۡ فِیهَا حَرِیرࣱ ۝٢٣

Surely, Allah will admit those who have Believed and performed righteous deeds to Gardens — flow underneath them rivers. They will be adorned therein with bracelets of gold and (they would adorn themselves in) pearls and their garment therein will be silk

inna l-laha yud'khilu alladhīna āmanū waʿamilū l-ṣāliḥāti jannātin tajrī min taḥtihā l-anhāru yuḥallawna fīhā min asāwira min dhahabin walu'lu-an walibāsuhum fīhā ḥarīru

وَهُدُوۤا۟ إِلَى ٱلطَّیِّبِ مِنَ ٱلۡقَوۡلِ وَهُدُوۤا۟ إِلَىٰ صِرَ ٰطِ ٱلۡحَمِیدِ ۝٢٤

And they are guided to the most desirable in speech and they are guided to the Path of the Most Praised One

wahudū ilā l-ṭayibi mina l-qawli wahudū ilā ṣirāṭi l-ḥamīd

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَیَصُدُّونَ عَن سَبِیلِ ٱللَّهِ وَٱلۡمَسۡجِدِ ٱلۡحَرَامِ ٱلَّذِی جَعَلۡنَـٰهُ لِلنَّاسِ سَوَاۤءً ٱلۡعَـٰكِفُ فِیهِ وَٱلۡبَادِۚ وَمَن یُرِدۡ فِیهِ بِإِلۡحَادِۭ بِظُلۡمࣲ نُّذِقۡهُ مِنۡ عَذَابٍ أَلِیمࣲ ۝٢٥

Verily, those who have disbelieved and hinder (people) from the Way of Allah and from Al-Masjid-al-Haram (at Makka) which We have made equal (in rank and reverence) to one who stays therein and the one who visits it and goes back. And whoever intends therein an evil deviation (from true Islam) out of transgression — We shall cause him to taste a grievously painful punishment

inna alladhīna kafarū wayaṣuddūna ʿan sabīli l-lahi wal-masjidi l-ḥarāmi alladhī jaʿalnāhu lilnnāsi sawāan l-ʿākifu fīhi wal-bādi waman yurid fīhi bi-il'ḥādin biẓul'min nudhiq'hu min ʿadhābin alīmi

4 Pilgrimage

وَإِذۡ بَوَّأۡنَا لِإِبۡرَ ٰهِیمَ مَكَانَ ٱلۡبَیۡتِ أَن لَّا تُشۡرِكۡ بِی شَیۡءࣰا وَطَهِّرۡ بَیۡتِیَ لِلطَّاۤىِٕفِینَ وَٱلۡقَاۤىِٕمِینَ وَٱلرُّكَّعِ ٱلسُّجُودِ ۝٢٦

And (bring to mind) when We authorised Ibrahim to administer (the) site of the House (directing him): “That associate not any thing with Me, and sanctify My House for those who circumambulate (it in Tawaf) and those who stand up (in Qiyam) and the Rukus (bowing down) with prostrations

wa-idh bawwanā li-ib'rāhīma makāna l-bayti an lā tush'rik bī shayan waṭahhir baytiya lilṭṭāifīna wal-qāimīna wal-rukaʿi l-sujūd

وَأَذِّن فِی ٱلنَّاسِ بِٱلۡحَجِّ یَأۡتُوكَ رِجَالࣰا وَعَلَىٰ كُلِّ ضَامِرࣲ یَأۡتِینَ مِن كُلِّ فَجٍّ عَمِیقࣲ ۝٢٧

And proclaim to mankind the Hajj (the annual, World Muslim Congregation). People will come to you on foot and on every Zamir (a means of conveyance specially capable to run very fast) - these will approach from all routes, distant and difficult —

wa-adhin fī l-nāsi bil-ḥaji yatūka rijālan waʿalā kulli ḍāmirin yatīna min kulli fajjin ʿamīqi

لِّیَشۡهَدُوا۟ مَنَـٰفِعَ لَهُمۡ وَیَذۡكُرُوا۟ ٱسۡمَ ٱللَّهِ فِیۤ أَیَّامࣲ مَّعۡلُومَـٰتٍ عَلَىٰ مَا رَزَقَهُم مِّنۢ بَهِیمَةِ ٱلۡأَنۡعَـٰمِۖ فَكُلُوا۟ مِنۡهَا وَأَطۡعِمُوا۟ ٱلۡبَاۤىِٕسَ ٱلۡفَقِیرَ ۝٢٨

so that they may witness items of benefit to them and pronounce the name of Allah during the well-known days (for animal-sacrifice), over the grazing quadrupeds that He has provided to them as provision." So eat you thereof and feed the distressed one, the needy

liyashhadū manāfiʿa lahum wayadhkurū is'ma l-lahi fī ayyāmin maʿlūmātin ʿalā mā razaqahum min bahīmati l-anʿāmi fakulū min'hā wa-aṭʿimū l-bāisa l-faqīr

ثُمَّ لۡیَقۡضُوا۟ تَفَثَهُمۡ وَلۡیُوفُوا۟ نُذُورَهُمۡ وَلۡیَطَّوَّفُوا۟ بِٱلۡبَیۡتِ ٱلۡعَتِیقِ ۝٢٩

Then let them remove the superfluous growths over them (like the projecting nails etc.), and unburden their vows, and circumambulate the Ancient House

thumma l'yaqḍū tafathahum walyūfū nudhūrahum walyaṭṭawwafū bil-bayti l-ʿatīq

ذَ ٰلِكَۖ وَمَن یُعَظِّمۡ حُرُمَـٰتِ ٱللَّهِ فَهُوَ خَیۡرࣱ لَّهُۥ عِندَ رَبِّهِۦۗ وَأُحِلَّتۡ لَكُمُ ٱلۡأَنۡعَـٰمُ إِلَّا مَا یُتۡلَىٰ عَلَیۡكُمۡۖ فَٱجۡتَنِبُوا۟ ٱلرِّجۡسَ مِنَ ٱلۡأَوۡثَـٰنِ وَٱجۡتَنِبُوا۟ قَوۡلَ ٱلزُّورِ ۝٣٠

This (completes the essential programme). And whoever honours the sacred things of Allah, so it is better for him in the Sight of His Nourisher-Sustainer. And the quadrupeds have been made lawful to you except what is mentioned to you (as exceptions). So shun the abomination of the idols, and shun (every) false statement

dhālika waman yuʿaẓẓim ḥurumāti l-lahi fahuwa khayrun lahu ʿinda rabbihi wa-uḥillat lakumu l-anʿāmu illā mā yut'lā ʿalaykum fa-ij'tanibū l-rij'sa mina l-awthāni wa-ij'tanibū qawla l-zūr

حُنَفَاۤءَ لِلَّهِ غَیۡرَ مُشۡرِكِینَ بِهِۦۚ وَمَن یُشۡرِكۡ بِٱللَّهِ فَكَأَنَّمَا خَرَّ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَاۤءِ فَتَخۡطَفُهُ ٱلطَّیۡرُ أَوۡ تَهۡوِی بِهِ ٱلرِّیحُ فِی مَكَانࣲ سَحِیقࣲ ۝٣١

becoming Hunafa lillah (strictly Unitarian to Allah) — not associating partners unto Him. And whoever sets partners to Allah, so it is as if he had fallen from the sky and a bird had caught him (as feed), or the wind drives him to a place completely uninhabited

ḥunafāa lillahi ghayra mush'rikīna bihi waman yush'rik bil-lahi faka-annamā kharra mina l-samāi fatakhṭafuhu l-ṭayru aw tahwī bihi l-rīḥu fī makānin saḥīqi

ذَ ٰلِكَۖ وَمَن یُعَظِّمۡ شَعَـٰۤىِٕرَ ٱللَّهِ فَإِنَّهَا مِن تَقۡوَى ٱلۡقُلُوبِ ۝٣٢

That (must be adhered to). And whosoever honours the symbols of Allah, then surely, it (flows) from the piety of the hearts

dhālika waman yuʿaẓẓim shaʿāira l-lahi fa-innahā min taqwā l-qulūb

لَكُمۡ فِیهَا مَنَـٰفِعُ إِلَىٰۤ أَجَلࣲ مُّسَمࣰّى ثُمَّ مَحِلُّهَاۤ إِلَى ٱلۡبَیۡتِ ٱلۡعَتِیقِ ۝٣٣

For you therein are benefits (like milk, carrying of loads, means of conveyance and as mechanical force for watering the fields etc.) for an appointed term; (and) afterwards, their specified place (for being sacrificed in Allah’s Cause) is unto the Ancient House

lakum fīhā manāfiʿu ilā ajalin musamman thumma maḥilluhā ilā l-bayti l-ʿatīq

5 Sacrifices

وَلِكُلِّ أُمَّةࣲ جَعَلۡنَا مَنسَكࣰا لِّیَذۡكُرُوا۟ ٱسۡمَ ٱللَّهِ عَلَىٰ مَا رَزَقَهُم مِّنۢ بَهِیمَةِ ٱلۡأَنۡعَـٰمِۗ فَإِلَـٰهُكُمۡ إِلَـٰهࣱ وَ ٰحِدࣱ فَلَهُۥۤ أَسۡلِمُوا۟ۗ وَبَشِّرِ ٱلۡمُخۡبِتِینَ ۝٣٤

And to all the communities We appointed the Rite that the people may mention the name of Allah over what We provided them as provision from the grazing quadrupeds. So your Ilah (God) is One Ilah. So you must submit (in Islam) to Him (Alone). And transmit glad tidings to Mukhbitin —

walikulli ummatin jaʿalnā mansakan liyadhkurū is'ma l-lahi ʿalā mā razaqahum min bahīmati l-anʿāmi fa-ilāhukum ilāhun wāḥidun falahu aslimū wabashiri l-mukh'bitīn

ٱلَّذِینَ إِذَا ذُكِرَ ٱللَّهُ وَجِلَتۡ قُلُوبُهُمۡ وَٱلصَّـٰبِرِینَ عَلَىٰ مَاۤ أَصَابَهُمۡ وَٱلۡمُقِیمِی ٱلصَّلَوٰةِ وَمِمَّا رَزَقۡنَـٰهُمۡ یُنفِقُونَ ۝٣٥

those: when Allah is mentioned (by reproducing the statements from Al-Kitab) their hearts get filled up in awe; and those who show patience and forbearance over what inflicted them, and who establish Salat and whatever We have provided them as provision — they spend

alladhīna idhā dhukira l-lahu wajilat qulūbuhum wal-ṣābirīna ʿalā mā aṣābahum wal-muqīmī l-ṣalati wamimmā razaqnāhum yunfiqūn

وَٱلۡبُدۡنَ جَعَلۡنَـٰهَا لَكُم مِّن شَعَـٰۤىِٕرِ ٱللَّهِ لَكُمۡ فِیهَا خَیۡرࣱۖ فَٱذۡكُرُوا۟ ٱسۡمَ ٱللَّهِ عَلَیۡهَا صَوَاۤفَّۖ فَإِذَا وَجَبَتۡ جُنُوبُهَا فَكُلُوا۟ مِنۡهَا وَأَطۡعِمُوا۟ ٱلۡقَانِعَ وَٱلۡمُعۡتَرَّۚ كَذَ ٰلِكَ سَخَّرۡنَـٰهَا لَكُمۡ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تَشۡكُرُونَ ۝٣٦

And the camels, We made them for you as among the Symbols of Allah. For you people, therein, is much good. Pronounce the name of Allah over them in standing posture (when puncturing their carotid vessel at the neck) and as soon as their sides fell down on the ground, then you (dissect and) eat thereof and feed the content and the ashead of state (needy). Thus We have subjected them in your interest in order that you may be grateful

wal-bud'na jaʿalnāhā lakum min shaʿāiri l-lahi lakum fīhā khayrun fa-udh'kurū is'ma l-lahi ʿalayhā ṣawāffa fa-idhā wajabat junūbuhā fakulū min'hā wa-aṭʿimū l-qāniʿa wal-muʿ'tara kadhālika sakharnāhā lakum laʿallakum tashkurūn

لَن یَنَالَ ٱللَّهَ لُحُومُهَا وَلَا دِمَاۤؤُهَا وَلَـٰكِن یَنَالُهُ ٱلتَّقۡوَىٰ مِنكُمۡۚ كَذَ ٰلِكَ سَخَّرَهَا لَكُمۡ لِتُكَبِّرُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ عَلَىٰ مَا هَدَىٰكُمۡۗ وَبَشِّرِ ٱلۡمُحۡسِنِینَ ۝٣٧

Certainly, their flesh never ascends to Allah and nor their blood. But it is piety from you that ascends to Him. Thus He has subjected them in your interest that you may magnify Allah for how He guided you. And transmit glad tidings to the Muhsinun (those who do good in perfection)

lan yanāla l-laha luḥūmuhā walā dimāuhā walākin yanāluhu l-taqwā minkum kadhālika sakharahā lakum litukabbirū l-laha ʿalā mā hadākum wabashiri l-muḥ'sinīn

۞ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ یُدَ ٰفِعُ عَنِ ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوۤا۟ۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا یُحِبُّ كُلَّ خَوَّانࣲ كَفُورٍ ۝٣٨

Truly, Allah drives away the enemies from those who have Believed. Surely, Allah does not like the entire (group of the) treacherous and ungrateful people

inna l-laha yudāfiʿu ʿani alladhīna āmanū inna l-laha lā yuḥibbu kulla khawwānin kafūri

6 Believers permitted to fight

أُذِنَ لِلَّذِینَ یُقَـٰتَلُونَ بِأَنَّهُمۡ ظُلِمُوا۟ۚ وَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَلَىٰ نَصۡرِهِمۡ لَقَدِیرٌ ۝٣٩

Permission is given against those who are mahead of state Qital because those (Believers) have been subjected to injustice. And surely, Allah is indeed All-Capable over the assistance of these (Believers)

udhina lilladhīna yuqātalūna bi-annahum ẓulimū wa-inna l-laha ʿalā naṣrihim laqadīru

ٱلَّذِینَ أُخۡرِجُوا۟ مِن دِیَـٰرِهِم بِغَیۡرِ حَقٍّ إِلَّاۤ أَن یَقُولُوا۟ رَبُّنَا ٱللَّهُۗ وَلَوۡلَا دَفۡعُ ٱللَّهِ ٱلنَّاسَ بَعۡضَهُم بِبَعۡضࣲ لَّهُدِّمَتۡ صَوَ ٰمِعُ وَبِیَعࣱ وَصَلَوَ ٰتࣱ وَمَسَـٰجِدُ یُذۡكَرُ فِیهَا ٱسۡمُ ٱللَّهِ كَثِیرࣰاۗ وَلَیَنصُرَنَّ ٱللَّهُ مَن یَنصُرُهُۥۤۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَقَوِیٌّ عَزِیزٌ ۝٤٠

Those who have been expelled from their homes without reason except that they say: “Our Nourisher-Sustainer is Allah.” And if there had not been removal of people by Allah — some of them by some (others), surely would have been pulled down the ‘short-stay reform centres’, and ‘places meant for signing contracts, covenants and swearing oaths’, and the Salat-congregations and the mosques wherein the Name of Allah is discussed exceedingly. Verily, Allah helps that who helps Him (through striving hard in His Cause). Truly Allah is All-Strong, All-Mighty

alladhīna ukh'rijū min diyārihim bighayri ḥaqqin illā an yaqūlū rabbunā l-lahu walawlā dafʿu l-lahi l-nāsa baʿḍahum bibaʿḍin lahuddimat ṣawāmiʿu wabiyaʿun waṣalawātun wamasājidu yudh'karu fīhā us'mu l-lahi kathīran walayanṣuranna l-lahu man yanṣuruhu inna l-laha laqawiyyun ʿazīzu

ٱلَّذِینَ إِن مَّكَّنَّـٰهُمۡ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ أَقَامُوا۟ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَءَاتَوُا۟ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ وَأَمَرُوا۟ بِٱلۡمَعۡرُوفِ وَنَهَوۡا۟ عَنِ ٱلۡمُنكَرِۗ وَلِلَّهِ عَـٰقِبَةُ ٱلۡأُمُورِ ۝٤١

Those who, if We established them in the land, established As-Salat and paid Az-Zakat, and they enjoined Al-Ma'ruf and forbade Al-Munkar (are true Muslims at heart). And the ultimate-end of the affairs is for Allah (to decide)

alladhīna in makkannāhum fī l-arḍi aqāmū l-ṣalata waātawū l-zakata wa-amarū bil-maʿrūfi wanahaw ʿani l-munkari walillahi ʿāqibatu l-umūr

وَإِن یُكَذِّبُوكَ فَقَدۡ كَذَّبَتۡ قَبۡلَهُمۡ قَوۡمُ نُوحࣲ وَعَادࣱ وَثَمُودُ ۝٤٢

And if they belie you, so definitely belied the nation of Nuh, and Ad and Samud people, before them

wa-in yukadhibūka faqad kadhabat qablahum qawmu nūḥin waʿādun wathamūd

وَقَوۡمُ إِبۡرَ ٰهِیمَ وَقَوۡمُ لُوطࣲ ۝٤٣

and (also) the nation of Ibrahim and the nation of Lout

waqawmu ib'rāhīma waqawmu lūṭi

وَأَصۡحَـٰبُ مَدۡیَنَۖ وَكُذِّبَ مُوسَىٰۖ فَأَمۡلَیۡتُ لِلۡكَـٰفِرِینَ ثُمَّ أَخَذۡتُهُمۡۖ فَكَیۡفَ كَانَ نَكِیرِ ۝٤٤

and the residents of Madyan; and Musa (too) was belied. But I granted respite to the disbelievers (for a while), then I seized them, then how (terrible) became My Punishment (against the rejectors)

wa-aṣḥābu madyana wakudhiba mūsā fa-amlaytu lil'kāfirīna thumma akhadhtuhum fakayfa kāna nakīr

فَكَأَیِّن مِّن قَرۡیَةٍ أَهۡلَكۡنَـٰهَا وَهِیَ ظَالِمَةࣱ فَهِیَ خَاوِیَةٌ عَلَىٰ عُرُوشِهَا وَبِئۡرࣲ مُّعَطَّلَةࣲ وَقَصۡرࣲ مَّشِیدٍ ۝٤٥

And how many of the townships We have destroyed while it is given to wrong-doing in transgression. So over its roofs it stands in ruins, and a deserted well (here and there), and fortified castle (gone underground)

faka-ayyin min qaryatin ahlaknāhā wahiya ẓālimatun fahiya khāwiyatun ʿalā ʿurūshihā wabi'rin muʿaṭṭalatin waqaṣrin mashīdi

أَفَلَمۡ یَسِیرُوا۟ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ فَتَكُونَ لَهُمۡ قُلُوبࣱ یَعۡقِلُونَ بِهَاۤ أَوۡ ءَاذَانࣱ یَسۡمَعُونَ بِهَاۖ فَإِنَّهَا لَا تَعۡمَى ٱلۡأَبۡصَـٰرُ وَلَـٰكِن تَعۡمَى ٱلۡقُلُوبُ ٱلَّتِی فِی ٱلصُّدُورِ ۝٤٦

Have they then not travelled through the land, so there be to them hearts wherewith they may understand, or ears wherewith they may hear. So surely, they: the eyes do not go blind, but the hearts go blind which are in the chests

afalam yasīrū fī l-arḍi fatakūna lahum qulūbun yaʿqilūna bihā aw ādhānun yasmaʿūna bihā fa-innahā lā taʿmā l-abṣāru walākin taʿmā l-qulūbu allatī fī l-ṣudūr

وَیَسۡتَعۡجِلُونَكَ بِٱلۡعَذَابِ وَلَن یُخۡلِفَ ٱللَّهُ وَعۡدَهُۥۚ وَإِنَّ یَوۡمًا عِندَ رَبِّكَ كَأَلۡفِ سَنَةࣲ مِّمَّا تَعُدُّونَ ۝٤٧

And people ask you to hasten on the torment. And Allah never goes against (His) Promise. And verily, an aeon with your Nourisher-Sustainer is as a thousand years of what you reckon

wayastaʿjilūnaka bil-ʿadhābi walan yukh'lifa l-lahu waʿdahu wa-inna yawman ʿinda rabbika ka-alfi sanatin mimmā taʿuddūn

وَكَأَیِّن مِّن قَرۡیَةٍ أَمۡلَیۡتُ لَهَا وَهِیَ ظَالِمَةࣱ ثُمَّ أَخَذۡتُهَا وَإِلَیَّ ٱلۡمَصِیرُ ۝٤٨

And how many a township — We granted it respite while it is given to wrong-doing in transgression. Then I seized it. And to Me is the (final) returning place

waka-ayyin min qaryatin amlaytu lahā wahiya ẓālimatun thumma akhadhtuhā wa-ilayya l-maṣīr

7 Opposition to the Prophet

قُلۡ یَـٰۤأَیُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ إِنَّمَاۤ أَنَا۠ لَكُمۡ نَذِیرࣱ مُّبِینࣱ ۝٤٩

Say: “O you mankind! Certainly, I am to you a warner — evident and manifest

qul yāayyuhā l-nāsu innamā anā lakum nadhīrun mubīnu

فَٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ لَهُم مَّغۡفِرَةࣱ وَرِزۡقࣱ كَرِیمࣱ ۝٥٠

So those who have Believed and performed righteous deeds — for them is Forgiveness and a generous provision

fa-alladhīna āmanū waʿamilū l-ṣāliḥāti lahum maghfiratun wariz'qun karīmu

وَٱلَّذِینَ سَعَوۡا۟ فِیۤ ءَایَـٰتِنَا مُعَـٰجِزِینَ أُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ أَصۡحَـٰبُ ٱلۡجَحِیمِ ۝٥١

And those who strove against Our Ayaat as people who desire to frustrate others, they will be dwellers of the Hell-Fire

wa-alladhīna saʿaw fī āyātinā muʿājizīna ulāika aṣḥābu l-jaḥīm

وَمَاۤ أَرۡسَلۡنَا مِن قَبۡلِكَ مِن رَّسُولࣲ وَلَا نَبِیٍّ إِلَّاۤ إِذَا تَمَنَّىٰۤ أَلۡقَى ٱلشَّیۡطَـٰنُ فِیۤ أُمۡنِیَّتِهِۦ فَیَنسَخُ ٱللَّهُ مَا یُلۡقِی ٱلشَّیۡطَـٰنُ ثُمَّ یُحۡكِمُ ٱللَّهُ ءَایَـٰتِهِۦۗ وَٱللَّهُ عَلِیمٌ حَكِیمࣱ ۝٥٢

And We did not send before you out of a Messenger and nor a Prophet but when he desired, the satan introduced (his share) into his desire. But Allah abolishes what the satan introduces. Afterwards Allah establishes His Ayaat. And Allah is All-Aware, All-Wise

wamā arsalnā min qablika min rasūlin walā nabiyyin illā idhā tamannā alqā l-shayṭānu fī um'niyyatihi fayansakhu l-lahu mā yul'qī l-shayṭānu thumma yuḥ'kimu l-lahu āyātihi wal-lahu ʿalīmun ḥakīmu

لِّیَجۡعَلَ مَا یُلۡقِی ٱلشَّیۡطَـٰنُ فِتۡنَةࣰ لِّلَّذِینَ فِی قُلُوبِهِم مَّرَضࣱ وَٱلۡقَاسِیَةِ قُلُوبُهُمۡۗ وَإِنَّ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِینَ لَفِی شِقَاقِۭ بَعِیدࣲ ۝٥٣

(This became allowed in Allah’s Plan) in order that (Allah) may make, what the satan introduces, a trial and test for those in whose hearts is a disease (of hypocrisy or disbelief), and their hearts are such that harbour obstruction (in accepting the Truth). And certainly, the transgressors are indeed in doubt and suspicion of a far and remote nature

liyajʿala mā yul'qī l-shayṭānu fit'natan lilladhīna fī qulūbihim maraḍun wal-qāsiyati qulūbuhum wa-inna l-ẓālimīna lafī shiqāqin baʿīdi

وَلِیَعۡلَمَ ٱلَّذِینَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلۡعِلۡمَ أَنَّهُ ٱلۡحَقُّ مِن رَّبِّكَ فَیُؤۡمِنُوا۟ بِهِۦ فَتُخۡبِتَ لَهُۥ قُلُوبُهُمۡۗ وَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَهَادِ ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوۤا۟ إِلَىٰ صِرَ ٰطࣲ مُّسۡتَقِیمࣲ ۝٥٤

And that those who have been given knowledge may know that it (i.e., Al-Kitab) is the truth from your Nourisher-Sustainer, and that they may Believe therein, then their hearts may submit to it with humility. And verily, Allah is the sure Guide to those who have Believed, to the Permanent Path

waliyaʿlama alladhīna ūtū l-ʿil'ma annahu l-ḥaqu min rabbika fayu'minū bihi fatukh'bita lahu qulūbuhum wa-inna l-laha lahādi alladhīna āmanū ilā ṣirāṭin mus'taqīmi

وَلَا یَزَالُ ٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوا۟ فِی مِرۡیَةࣲ مِّنۡهُ حَتَّىٰ تَأۡتِیَهُمُ ٱلسَّاعَةُ بَغۡتَةً أَوۡ یَأۡتِیَهُمۡ عَذَابُ یَوۡمٍ عَقِیمٍ ۝٥٥

And those who have disbelieved will not cease (to be) in doubt about it (i.e., Al-Kitab) until the Hour comes unto them out of a sudden, or there comes unto them the torment of the destructive Day

walā yazālu alladhīna kafarū fī mir'yatin min'hu ḥattā tatiyahumu l-sāʿatu baghtatan aw yatiyahum ʿadhābu yawmin ʿaqīmi

ٱلۡمُلۡكُ یَوۡمَىِٕذࣲ لِّلَّهِ یَحۡكُمُ بَیۡنَهُمۡۚ فَٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ فِی جَنَّـٰتِ ٱلنَّعِیمِ ۝٥٦

The Dominion this Day is for Allah (Alone). He will pronounce decision amongst them. Then those who have Believed and performed righteous deeds (will be) in the Gardens of delight

al-mul'ku yawma-idhin lillahi yaḥkumu baynahum fa-alladhīna āmanū waʿamilū l-ṣāliḥāti fī jannāti l-naʿīm

وَٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَكَذَّبُوا۟ بِءَایَـٰتِنَا فَأُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ لَهُمۡ عَذَابࣱ مُّهِینࣱ ۝٥٧

And those who have disbelieved and belied Our Verses, then those people: for them is punishment, most humiliating

wa-alladhīna kafarū wakadhabū biāyātinā fa-ulāika lahum ʿadhābun muhīnu

8 Faithful shall be established

وَٱلَّذِینَ هَاجَرُوا۟ فِی سَبِیلِ ٱللَّهِ ثُمَّ قُتِلُوۤا۟ أَوۡ مَاتُوا۟ لَیَرۡزُقَنَّهُمُ ٱللَّهُ رِزۡقًا حَسَنࣰاۚ وَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَهُوَ خَیۡرُ ٱلرَّ ٰزِقِینَ ۝٥٨

And those who emigrated in the Cause of Allah (and during or) thereafter were killed or died a natural death, surely Allah will provide them a good provision. And verily, Allah — surely, He is the Best of those who provide provision

wa-alladhīna hājarū fī sabīli l-lahi thumma qutilū aw mātū layarzuqannahumu l-lahu riz'qan ḥasanan wa-inna l-laha lahuwa khayru l-rāziqīn

لَیُدۡخِلَنَّهُم مُّدۡخَلࣰا یَرۡضَوۡنَهُۥۚ وَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَعَلِیمٌ حَلِیمࣱ ۝٥٩

Truly, He will make them enter an entrance — they will be agreeable and satisfied with it. And verily, Allah indeed is All-Aware, Most Clement

layud'khilannahum mud'khalan yarḍawnahu wa-inna l-laha laʿalīmun ḥalīmu

۞ ذَ ٰلِكَۖ وَمَنۡ عَاقَبَ بِمِثۡلِ مَا عُوقِبَ بِهِۦ ثُمَّ بُغِیَ عَلَیۡهِ لَیَنصُرَنَّهُ ٱللَّهُۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَعَفُوٌّ غَفُورࣱ ۝٦٠

That (shall be so). And whoever retaliated with the like with what he was inflicted (and) afterwards was put to injustice in addition to it, surely Allah will help him. Verily, Allah indeed is Oft-Pardoning, Oft-Forgiving

dhālika waman ʿāqaba bimith'li mā ʿūqiba bihi thumma bughiya ʿalayhi layanṣurannahu l-lahu inna l-laha laʿafuwwun ghafūru

ذَ ٰلِكَ بِأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ یُولِجُ ٱلَّیۡلَ فِی ٱلنَّهَارِ وَیُولِجُ ٱلنَّهَارَ فِی ٱلَّیۡلِ وَأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ سَمِیعُۢ بَصِیرࣱ ۝٦١

That is because Allah makes the night enter the day, and makes the day enter the night. And that Allah is All-Hearer, All-Seer

dhālika bi-anna l-laha yūliju al-layla fī l-nahāri wayūliju l-nahāra fī al-layli wa-anna l-laha samīʿun baṣīru

ذَ ٰلِكَ بِأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ هُوَ ٱلۡحَقُّ وَأَنَّ مَا یَدۡعُونَ مِن دُونِهِۦ هُوَ ٱلۡبَـٰطِلُ وَأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ هُوَ ٱلۡعَلِیُّ ٱلۡكَبِیرُ ۝٦٢

That is because Allah — He is the Truth, and that what (polytheists) invoke besides Him, it is Batil. And that Allah — He is the Most High, the Most Great

dhālika bi-anna l-laha huwa l-ḥaqu wa-anna mā yadʿūna min dūnihi huwa l-bāṭilu wa-anna l-laha huwa l-ʿaliyu l-kabīr

أَلَمۡ تَرَ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ أَنزَلَ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَاۤءِ مَاۤءࣰ فَتُصۡبِحُ ٱلۡأَرۡضُ مُخۡضَرَّةًۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَطِیفٌ خَبِیرࣱ ۝٦٣

Have you not marked that Allah sent down (rain-) water from towards the sky, then the earth becomes (as if) made lush-green. Verily, Allah (is the) Keenest Observer, (the) Most Well-informed

alam tara anna l-laha anzala mina l-samāi māan fatuṣ'biḥu l-arḍu mukh'ḍarratan inna l-laha laṭīfun khabīru

لَّهُۥ مَا فِی ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَمَا فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ وَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَهُوَ ٱلۡغَنِیُّ ٱلۡحَمِیدُ ۝٦٤

To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth. And verily, Allah — indeed He is Free of all wants, the Most Praised One

lahu mā fī l-samāwāti wamā fī l-arḍi wa-inna l-laha lahuwa l-ghaniyu l-ḥamīd

9 Divine mercy to men

أَلَمۡ تَرَ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ سَخَّرَ لَكُم مَّا فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَٱلۡفُلۡكَ تَجۡرِی فِی ٱلۡبَحۡرِ بِأَمۡرِهِۦ وَیُمۡسِكُ ٱلسَّمَاۤءَ أَن تَقَعَ عَلَى ٱلۡأَرۡضِ إِلَّا بِإِذۡنِهِۦۤۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ بِٱلنَّاسِ لَرَءُوفࣱ رَّحِیمࣱ ۝٦٥

Have you not seen that Allah has subjected in your interest whatever is in the earth, and the sea-vessel sails through the sea under His Command? And he holds the heaven otherwise it may fall down on earth, (the only) exception being under His Permission. Verily, Allah to mankind is indeed, Full of Kindness, continuously Merciful

alam tara anna l-laha sakhara lakum mā fī l-arḍi wal-ful'ka tajrī fī l-baḥri bi-amrihi wayum'siku l-samāa an taqaʿa ʿalā l-arḍi illā bi-idh'nihi inna l-laha bil-nāsi laraūfun raḥīmu

وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِیۤ أَحۡیَاكُمۡ ثُمَّ یُمِیتُكُمۡ ثُمَّ یُحۡیِیكُمۡۗ إِنَّ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنَ لَكَفُورࣱ ۝٦٦

And He it is Who gave you life, then will cause you to die, then will (again) give you life. Truly, the human being is indeed an ingrate

wahuwa alladhī aḥyākum thumma yumītukum thumma yuḥ'yīkum inna l-insāna lakafūru

لِّكُلِّ أُمَّةࣲ جَعَلۡنَا مَنسَكًا هُمۡ نَاسِكُوهُۖ فَلَا یُنَـٰزِعُنَّكَ فِی ٱلۡأَمۡرِۚ وَٱدۡعُ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَۖ إِنَّكَ لَعَلَىٰ هُدࣰى مُّسۡتَقِیمࣲ ۝٦٧

To all communities We appointed Mansak (single pattern of Religion); they (remained) adherers to it. So let not people dispute you in the matter. And invite to your Nourisher-Sustainer. Surely, you are indeed on the Permanent Guidance

likulli ummatin jaʿalnā mansakan hum nāsikūhu falā yunāziʿunnaka fī l-amri wa-ud'ʿu ilā rabbika innaka laʿalā hudan mus'taqīmi

وَإِن جَـٰدَلُوكَ فَقُلِ ٱللَّهُ أَعۡلَمُ بِمَا تَعۡمَلُونَ ۝٦٨

And if people argued with you, then say: “Allah knows better about what you do.”

wa-in jādalūka faquli l-lahu aʿlamu bimā taʿmalūn

ٱللَّهُ یَحۡكُمُ بَیۡنَكُمۡ یَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِیَـٰمَةِ فِیمَا كُنتُمۡ فِیهِ تَخۡتَلِفُونَ ۝٦٩

Allah will pronounce judgement amongst you on the Day of Resurrection about that wherein you used to differ

al-lahu yaḥkumu baynakum yawma l-qiyāmati fīmā kuntum fīhi takhtalifūn

أَلَمۡ تَعۡلَمۡ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ یَعۡلَمُ مَا فِی ٱلسَّمَاۤءِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ إِنَّ ذَ ٰلِكَ فِی كِتَـٰبٍۚ إِنَّ ذَ ٰلِكَ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ یَسِیرࣱ ۝٧٠

Don’t you know that Allah knows whatever is in the heaven and the earth? Verily, (all) this is in record. Verily, this is very easy for Allah

alam taʿlam anna l-laha yaʿlamu mā fī l-samāi wal-arḍi inna dhālika fī kitābin inna dhālika ʿalā l-lahi yasīru

وَیَعۡبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ مَا لَمۡ یُنَزِّلۡ بِهِۦ سُلۡطَـٰنࣰا وَمَا لَیۡسَ لَهُم بِهِۦ عِلۡمࣱۗ وَمَا لِلظَّـٰلِمِینَ مِن نَّصِیرࣲ ۝٧١

And people worship besides Allah that for which He has not sent any authority or proof, and for which they have no knowledge. And for the transgressors there is none out of one who could help or assist

wayaʿbudūna min dūni l-lahi mā lam yunazzil bihi sul'ṭānan wamā laysa lahum bihi ʿil'mun wamā lilẓẓālimīna min naṣīri

وَإِذَا تُتۡلَىٰ عَلَیۡهِمۡ ءَایَـٰتُنَا بَیِّنَـٰتࣲ تَعۡرِفُ فِی وُجُوهِ ٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوا۟ ٱلۡمُنكَرَۖ یَكَادُونَ یَسۡطُونَ بِٱلَّذِینَ یَتۡلُونَ عَلَیۡهِمۡ ءَایَـٰتِنَاۗ قُلۡ أَفَأُنَبِّئُكُم بِشَرࣲّ مِّن ذَ ٰلِكُمُۚ ٱلنَّارُ وَعَدَهَا ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوا۟ۖ وَبِئۡسَ ٱلۡمَصِیرُ ۝٧٢

And when Our Clear Verses are reproduced to them, you will notice a denial on the faces of those who have disbelieved. They will intend that they may assault those who reproduce unto them Our Ayaat. Say: “Shall I tell you something more evil from your this (reaction)? (It is) the Fire! Allah has promised that to those who have disbelieved. And it is a vile destination (indeed).

wa-idhā tut'lā ʿalayhim āyātunā bayyinātin taʿrifu fī wujūhi alladhīna kafarū l-munkara yakādūna yasṭūna bi-alladhīna yatlūna ʿalayhim āyātinā qul afa-unabbi-ukum bisharrin min dhālikumu l-nāru waʿadahā l-lahu alladhīna kafarū wabi'sa l-maṣīr

10 Polytheism will be uprooted

یَـٰۤأَیُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ ضُرِبَ مَثَلࣱ فَٱسۡتَمِعُوا۟ لَهُۥۤۚ إِنَّ ٱلَّذِینَ تَدۡعُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ لَن یَخۡلُقُوا۟ ذُبَابࣰا وَلَوِ ٱجۡتَمَعُوا۟ لَهُۥۖ وَإِن یَسۡلُبۡهُمُ ٱلذُّبَابُ شَیۡءࣰا لَّا یَسۡتَنقِذُوهُ مِنۡهُۚ ضَعُفَ ٱلطَّالِبُ وَٱلۡمَطۡلُوبُ ۝٧٣

O you mankind! A similitude is set forth, so listen to it attentively. Surely those whom you people invoke besides Allah shall never create (even) a fly, though they join one another for that (task). And if the fly drives away something from them they will not get it released from it. Became weak the seeker and the sought (i.e., one who invoked, and one who was invoked)

yāayyuhā l-nāsu ḍuriba mathalun fa-is'tamiʿū lahu inna alladhīna tadʿūna min dūni l-lahi lan yakhluqū dhubāban walawi ij'tamaʿū lahu wa-in yaslub'humu l-dhubābu shayan lā yastanqidhūhu min'hu ḍaʿufa l-ṭālibu wal-maṭlūb

مَا قَدَرُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ حَقَّ قَدۡرِهِۦۤۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَقَوِیٌّ عَزِیزٌ ۝٧٤

The people esteemed not Allah in befitting manner which became due as His Estimation. Surely, Allah is indeed All-Powerful, All-Mighty

mā qadarū l-laha ḥaqqa qadrihi inna l-laha laqawiyyun ʿazīzu

ٱللَّهُ یَصۡطَفِی مِنَ ٱلۡمَلَـٰۤىِٕكَةِ رُسُلࣰا وَمِنَ ٱلنَّاسِۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ سَمِیعُۢ بَصِیرࣱ ۝٧٥

Allah chooses (His) Messengers from the angels as well as from mankind. Verily, Allah is All-Hearer, All-Seer

al-lahu yaṣṭafī mina l-malāikati rusulan wamina l-nāsi inna l-laha samīʿun baṣīru

یَعۡلَمُ مَا بَیۡنَ أَیۡدِیهِمۡ وَمَا خَلۡفَهُمۡۚ وَإِلَى ٱللَّهِ تُرۡجَعُ ٱلۡأُمُورُ ۝٧٦

He knows what is between their hands (already done) and what is behind them (they are about to do). And to Allah are returned (all) matters (for final decision)

yaʿlamu mā bayna aydīhim wamā khalfahum wa-ilā l-lahi tur'jaʿu l-umūr

یَـٰۤأَیُّهَا ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ٱرۡكَعُوا۟ وَ̅ٱ̅سۡ̅جُ̅دُ̅و̅ا۟̅ وَٱعۡبُدُوا۟ رَبَّكُمۡ وَٱفۡعَلُوا۟ ٱلۡخَیۡرَ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تُفۡلِحُونَ ۝٧٧ ۩

O you people who have Believed! Bow down and (also) prostrate and pay obedience to your Nourisher-Sustainer, and do good (deeds) so that you — you may prosper

yāayyuhā alladhīna āmanū ir'kaʿū wa-us'judū wa-uʿ'budū rabbakum wa-if'ʿalū l-khayra laʿallakum tuf'liḥūn

وَجَـٰهِدُوا۟ فِی ٱللَّهِ حَقَّ جِهَادِهِۦۚ هُوَ ٱجۡتَبَىٰكُمۡ وَمَا جَعَلَ عَلَیۡكُمۡ فِی ٱلدِّینِ مِنۡ حَرَجࣲۚ مِّلَّةَ أَبِیكُمۡ إِبۡرَ ٰهِیمَۚ هُوَ سَمَّىٰكُمُ ٱلۡمُسۡلِمِینَ مِن قَبۡلُ وَفِی هَـٰذَا لِیَكُونَ ٱلرَّسُولُ شَهِیدًا عَلَیۡكُمۡ وَتَكُونُوا۟ شُهَدَاۤءَ عَلَى ٱلنَّاسِۚ فَأَقِیمُوا۟ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَءَاتُوا۟ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ وَٱعۡتَصِمُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ هُوَ مَوۡلَىٰكُمۡۖ فَنِعۡمَ ٱلۡمَوۡلَىٰ وَنِعۡمَ ٱلنَّصِیرُ ۝٧٨

And strive hard in Allah in the befitting manner which became due for striving hard in Him. He has chosen you and has not laid upon you regarding Religion any hardship, sanctioning for you the Millat of your father, Ibrahim. He (i.e., Allah) has named you Muslims before and in this (era) — so that the Messenger may become a witness over you and you be witnesses over mankind. So establish Salat and pay-off Zakat and hold firmly to Allah. He is your Maula. What an excellent Maula and what an excellent Naseer

wajāhidū fī l-lahi ḥaqqa jihādihi huwa ij'tabākum wamā jaʿala ʿalaykum fī l-dīni min ḥarajin millata abīkum ib'rāhīma huwa sammākumu l-mus'limīna min qablu wafī hādhā liyakūna l-rasūlu shahīdan ʿalaykum watakūnū shuhadāa ʿalā l-nāsi fa-aqīmū l-ṣalata waātū l-zakata wa-iʿ'taṣimū bil-lahi huwa mawlākum faniʿ'ma l-mawlā waniʿ'ma l-naṣīr
