1 Respect for the Prophet

۞ یَـٰۤأَیُّهَا ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تُقَدِّمُوا۟ بَیۡنَ یَدَیِ ٱللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦۖ وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ سَمِیعٌ عَلِیمࣱ ۝١

O you who believe with hearts reflecting the image of religious and spiritual virtues and with works imprinted with wisdom and piety: Do not precede Allah and His Messenger in expressing judgment or belief, view or notion and entertain the profound reverence dutiful to Allah; He is Sami'un (Omnipresent with unlimited audition) and Alimun (Omniscient

yāayyuhā alladhīna āmanū lā tuqaddimū bayna yadayi l-lahi warasūlihi wa-ittaqū l-laha inna l-laha samīʿun ʿalīmu

یَـٰۤأَیُّهَا ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تَرۡفَعُوۤا۟ أَصۡوَ ٰتَكُمۡ فَوۡقَ صَوۡتِ ٱلنَّبِیِّ وَلَا تَجۡهَرُوا۟ لَهُۥ بِٱلۡقَوۡلِ كَجَهۡرِ بَعۡضِكُمۡ لِبَعۡضٍ أَن تَحۡبَطَ أَعۡمَـٰلُكُمۡ وَأَنتُمۡ لَا تَشۡعُرُونَ ۝٢

O you who believe with hearts impressed with the image of religious and spiritual virtues and deeds with wisdom and piety: Do not raise your voices above the voice of the Messenger, nor speak to him loudly in the manner you speak to one another lest unawares your hopes should be doomed to disappointment and your deeds to worthlessness

yāayyuhā alladhīna āmanū lā tarfaʿū aṣwātakum fawqa ṣawti l-nabiyi walā tajharū lahu bil-qawli kajahri baʿḍikum libaʿḍin an taḥbaṭa aʿmālukum wa-antum lā tashʿurūn

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِینَ یَغُضُّونَ أَصۡوَ ٰتَهُمۡ عِندَ رَسُولِ ٱللَّهِ أُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ ٱلَّذِینَ ٱمۡتَحَنَ ٱللَّهُ قُلُوبَهُمۡ لِلتَّقۡوَىٰۚ لَهُم مَّغۡفِرَةࣱ وَأَجۡرٌ عَظِیمٌ ۝٣

Indeed, those who lower their voices when they have audience with the Messenger of Allah arc those whose style in discourse reveals their character which is imbued with Grace divine, and whose breast has Allah filled with reverence and piety; they merit forgiveness and a great reward

inna alladhīna yaghuḍḍūna aṣwātahum ʿinda rasūli l-lahi ulāika alladhīna im'taḥana l-lahu qulūbahum lilttaqwā lahum maghfiratun wa-ajrun ʿaẓīmu

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِینَ یُنَادُونَكَ مِن وَرَاۤءِ ٱلۡحُجُرَ ٰتِ أَكۡثَرُهُمۡ لَا یَعۡقِلُونَ ۝٤

Those who call you O Muhammad, from without the chambers of your wives; most of them do not have the sense nor the knowledge of how to act under given conditions

inna alladhīna yunādūnaka min warāi l-ḥujurāti aktharuhum lā yaʿqilūn

وَلَوۡ أَنَّهُمۡ صَبَرُوا۟ حَتَّىٰ تَخۡرُجَ إِلَیۡهِمۡ لَكَانَ خَیۡرࣰا لَّهُمۡۚ وَٱللَّهُ غَفُورࣱ رَّحِیمࣱ ۝٥

If they had reconsidered it and decided more wisely to wait quietly until you have come out, it would have been better for them, but Allah is Ghafurun (Forgiving) and Rahimun (Merciful)

walaw annahum ṣabarū ḥattā takhruja ilayhim lakāna khayran lahum wal-lahu ghafūrun raḥīmu

یَـٰۤأَیُّهَا ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوۤا۟ إِن جَاۤءَكُمۡ فَاسِقُۢ بِنَبَإࣲ فَتَبَیَّنُوۤا۟ أَن تُصِیبُوا۟ قَوۡمَۢا بِجَهَـٰلَةࣲ فَتُصۡبِحُوا۟ عَلَىٰ مَا فَعَلۡتُمۡ نَـٰدِمِینَ ۝٦

O you whose hearts reflect the image of religious and spiritual Virtues and their deeds wisdom and piety: If ever there comes to you someone known to be immoral or potentially harmful, pernicious, malicious or mischievous, and relates to you a message or an event, an incident or something he heard, then be objectively certain of the truth to preclude risk of error and the consequence of wrong action and of injuring the reputation of a people or defaming them in ignorance, and later be pitifully regretful for what you have done

yāayyuhā alladhīna āmanū in jāakum fāsiqun binaba-in fatabayyanū an tuṣībū qawman bijahālatin fatuṣ'biḥū ʿalā mā faʿaltum nādimīn

وَٱعۡلَمُوۤا۟ أَنَّ فِیكُمۡ رَسُولَ ٱللَّهِۚ لَوۡ یُطِیعُكُمۡ فِی كَثِیرࣲ مِّنَ ٱلۡأَمۡرِ لَعَنِتُّمۡ وَلَـٰكِنَّ ٱللَّهَ حَبَّبَ إِلَیۡكُمُ ٱلۡإِیمَـٰنَ وَزَیَّنَهُۥ فِی قُلُوبِكُمۡ وَكَرَّهَ إِلَیۡكُمُ ٱلۡكُفۡرَ وَٱلۡفُسُوقَ وَٱلۡعِصۡیَانَۚ أُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ هُمُ ٱلرَّ ٰشِدُونَ ۝٧

And you must realize that the Messenger of Allah is in your midst. If he were to a submit to your wishes and yield to you in many of the matters, you would be befallen with misfortunes, But Allah has touched your hearts with the divine hand to create in them affection for the Faith and to make you regard it with an eye of favour, He made you hate disbelief, immorality and disobedience with heart and hand. Such persons arc those who follow the path of safety and righteousness

wa-iʿ'lamū anna fīkum rasūla l-lahi law yuṭīʿukum fī kathīrin mina l-amri laʿanittum walākinna l-laha ḥabbaba ilaykumu l-īmāna wazayyanahu fī qulūbikum wakarraha ilaykumu l-kuf'ra wal-fusūqa wal-ʿiṣ'yāna ulāika humu l-rāshidūn

فَضۡلࣰا مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ وَنِعۡمَةࣰۚ وَٱللَّهُ عَلِیمٌ حَكِیمࣱ ۝٨

This is Allah's divine influence operating in men to regenerate and sanctify, to impart strength to endure trial and resist temptation; an efficacious grace effecting the end for which it is given; Allah is Alimun and Hakimun (Wise)

faḍlan mina l-lahi waniʿ'matan wal-lahu ʿalīmun ḥakīmu

وَإِن طَاۤىِٕفَتَانِ مِنَ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ ٱقۡتَتَلُوا۟ فَأَصۡلِحُوا۟ بَیۡنَهُمَاۖ فَإِنۢ بَغَتۡ إِحۡدَىٰهُمَا عَلَى ٱلۡأُخۡرَىٰ فَقَـٰتِلُوا۟ ٱلَّتِی تَبۡغِی حَتَّىٰ تَفِیۤءَ إِلَىٰۤ أَمۡرِ ٱللَّهِۚ فَإِن فَاۤءَتۡ فَأَصۡلِحُوا۟ بَیۡنَهُمَا بِٱلۡعَدۡلِ وَأَقۡسِطُوۤا۟ۖ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ یُحِبُّ ٱلۡمُقۡسِطِینَ ۝٩

If two parties, bodies, states or nations in their corporate character, among those who sincerely believe in Allah should engage in warfare against each other, then you reconcile them and bring about peace between them. And if one of them wrongs the other, then you fight against the one exercising injustice, prejudice or harshness, until they conform to divine commands If they do, then reconcile one to the other in accordance with reason and justice, and exercise authority in maintenance of right. Allah entertains a great regard for those who vindicate the right

wa-in ṭāifatāni mina l-mu'minīna iq'tatalū fa-aṣliḥū baynahumā fa-in baghat iḥ'dāhumā ʿalā l-ukh'rā faqātilū allatī tabghī ḥattā tafīa ilā amri l-lahi fa-in fāat fa-aṣliḥū baynahumā bil-ʿadli wa-aqsiṭū inna l-laha yuḥibbu l-muq'siṭīn

إِنَّمَا ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنُونَ إِخۡوَةࣱ فَأَصۡلِحُوا۟ بَیۡنَ أَخَوَیۡكُمۡۚ وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تُرۡحَمُونَ ۝١٠

Indeed, the believers whose hearts reflect the image of religious and spiritual virtues and their deeds wisdom and piety are fellow-members of the Faith; an association of brothers. So reconcile your brothers with one another and entertain the profound reverence dutiful to Allah that you may merit His mercy

innamā l-mu'minūna ikh'watun fa-aṣliḥū bayna akhawaykum wa-ittaqū l-laha laʿallakum tur'ḥamūn

2 Respect for Muslim Brotherhood

یَـٰۤأَیُّهَا ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا یَسۡخَرۡ قَوۡمࣱ مِّن قَوۡمٍ عَسَىٰۤ أَن یَكُونُوا۟ خَیۡرࣰا مِّنۡهُمۡ وَلَا نِسَاۤءࣱ مِّن نِّسَاۤءٍ عَسَىٰۤ أَن یَكُنَّ خَیۡرࣰا مِّنۡهُنَّۖ وَلَا تَلۡمِزُوۤا۟ أَنفُسَكُمۡ وَلَا تَنَابَزُوا۟ بِٱلۡأَلۡقَـٰبِۖ بِئۡسَ الْاِسْمُ ٱلۡفُسُوقُ بَعۡدَ ٱلۡإِیمَـٰنِۚ وَمَن لَّمۡ یَتُبۡ فَأُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ هُمُ ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ ۝١١

O you who believe with hearts reflecting the image of religious and spiritual virtues and with deeds of wisdom and piety: Men must not laugh at other men with the intention of producing a specified deriding, or ridiculing, or contemptuous effect upon one another. It may be that the laughees are better than the laughers in many aspects. Nor should women laugh at other women with the intention of producing a specified deriding or ridiculing, or contemptuous effect upon one another. It may be that the laughees are better than the laughers in many aspects. Moreover do not defame one another nor nickname each other by insulting or repulsive derogatory names. How bad it is to be called malicious or wicked after having professed the Faith with hearts impressed with the image of religious and spiritual virtues and deeds with wisdom and piety! And he who does not change his mind with regard to past conduct, then such persons are guilty of wrongful actions. "The man that dares traduce because he can, with safety to himself, is not a man " "Cowper" Suspicion in some instances is indeed a sin

yāayyuhā alladhīna āmanū lā yaskhar qawmun min qawmin ʿasā an yakūnū khayran min'hum walā nisāon min nisāin ʿasā an yakunna khayran min'hunna walā talmizū anfusakum walā tanābazū bil-alqābi bi'sa l-s'mu l-fusūqu baʿda l-īmāni waman lam yatub fa-ulāika humu l-ẓālimūn

یَـٰۤأَیُّهَا ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ٱجۡتَنِبُوا۟ كَثِیرࣰا مِّنَ ٱلظَّنِّ إِنَّ بَعۡضَ ٱلظَّنِّ إِثۡمࣱۖ وَلَا تَجَسَّسُوا۟ وَلَا یَغۡتَب بَّعۡضُكُم بَعۡضًاۚ أَیُحِبُّ أَحَدُكُمۡ أَن یَأۡكُلَ لَحۡمَ أَخِیهِ مَیۡتࣰا فَكَرِهۡتُمُوهُۚ وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ تَوَّابࣱ رَّحِیمࣱ ۝١٢

O you who believe with hearts reflecting the image of religious and spiritual virtues and their deeds wisdom and piety. Avoid suspicion in many instances and the conjecture of the existence of something evil or wrong without proof; suspicion in some instances is indeed a sin. Nor play the spy upon each other or peer inquisitively and impertinently into the nature of other peoples' actions, nor traduce or slander one another by speaking evil or falsehood or speaking maliciously behind his or her back. Would any of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother! Indeed you would shrink from it with horror. Therefore, keep Allah in mind and entertain the profound reverence dutiful to Him, Allah is indeed Tawabun (Relenting) and Rahimun (Merciful). Allah indicates to people that He weighs them not by their parentage, lineage, descent or rank in life, but by the image their hearts reflect

yāayyuhā alladhīna āmanū ij'tanibū kathīran mina l-ẓani inna baʿḍa l-ẓani ith'mun walā tajassasū walā yaghtab baʿḍukum baʿḍan ayuḥibbu aḥadukum an yakula laḥma akhīhi maytan fakarih'tumūhu wa-ittaqū l-laha inna l-laha tawwābun raḥīmu

یَـٰۤأَیُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ إِنَّا خَلَقۡنَـٰكُم مِّن ذَكَرࣲ وَأُنثَىٰ وَجَعَلۡنَـٰكُمۡ شُعُوبࣰا وَقَبَاۤىِٕلَ لِتَعَارَفُوۤا۟ۚ إِنَّ أَكۡرَمَكُمۡ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ أَتۡقَىٰكُمۡۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَلِیمٌ خَبِیرࣱ ۝١٣

O you people; We created you from the union of a twain, male and female, and We divided you into nations and communities and dispersed you over the earth to get to know each other and not to boast your descent or rank. The one among you whom Allah values most and is held precious in His esteem is he who keeps Allah in mind and acquaints his heart with wisdom, and regards Allah with breast filled with reverential awe. Allah is Alimun, and Khabirun (intimately acquainted with all things). A tribe named Banu Asad went to Madinab, where the Messenger had emigrated, seeking relief for their families by reason whereof a famine had ensued that year. They had conformed to Islam, but they thought at that stage that they had become absorbed in the Faith, which they were not. Consequently, Allah defines to them and to the people at large the stages they go through

yāayyuhā l-nāsu innā khalaqnākum min dhakarin wa-unthā wajaʿalnākum shuʿūban waqabāila litaʿārafū inna akramakum ʿinda l-lahi atqākum inna l-laha ʿalīmun khabīru

۞ قَالَتِ ٱلۡأَعۡرَابُ ءَامَنَّاۖ قُل لَّمۡ تُؤۡمِنُوا۟ وَلَـٰكِن قُولُوۤا۟ أَسۡلَمۡنَا وَلَمَّا یَدۡخُلِ ٱلۡإِیمَـٰنُ فِی قُلُوبِكُمۡۖ وَإِن تُطِیعُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ لَا یَلِتۡكُم مِّنۡ أَعۡمَـٰلِكُمۡ شَیۡءًاۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورࣱ رَّحِیمٌ ۝١٤

(The desert Arabs say to the Messenger); "We are strongly disposed to believe in Allah and obey His ordinances." Say to them O Muhammad: "You have not yet been absorbed in the Faith, but you may say; "We have conformed to Islam". But not yet have your hearts been impressed with the image of religious and spiritual virtues. If you obey Allah and the voice and reason of His Messenger, Allah will not depreciate the reward of your good deeds; Allah is Ghafurun and Rahimun

qālati l-aʿrābu āmannā qul lam tu'minū walākin qūlū aslamnā walammā yadkhuli l-īmānu fī qulūbikum wa-in tuṭīʿū l-laha warasūlahu lā yalit'kum min aʿmālikum shayan inna l-laha ghafūrun raḥīmu

إِنَّمَا ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنُونَ ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦ ثُمَّ لَمۡ یَرۡتَابُوا۟ وَجَـٰهَدُوا۟ بِأَمۡوَ ٰلِهِمۡ وَأَنفُسِهِمۡ فِی سَبِیلِ ٱللَّهِۚ أُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ هُمُ ٱلصَّـٰدِقُونَ ۝١٥

Indeed, true believers are those who have solemnly believed in Allah and His Messenger with hearts reflecting the image of religious and spiritual virtues and their deeds wisdom and piety and never since have they had a reason to occasion doubt or uncertainty. They strove with their money and their lives in the cause of Allah Whose purpose has been the heart of their purpose. These are indeed the true to their promises and to their Faith and as true as the needle to the pole

innamā l-mu'minūna alladhīna āmanū bil-lahi warasūlihi thumma lam yartābū wajāhadū bi-amwālihim wa-anfusihim fī sabīli l-lahi ulāika humu l-ṣādiqūn

قُلۡ أَتُعَلِّمُونَ ٱللَّهَ بِدِینِكُمۡ وَٱللَّهُ یَعۡلَمُ مَا فِی ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَمَا فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ وَٱللَّهُ بِكُلِّ شَیۡءٍ عَلِیمࣱ ۝١٦

Ask to them O Muhammad: "Are you going to inform Allah of what operates on your character and will, and what accrued from your apprehension of Allah knows fully all in all in the heaven; and on earth and He is Alimun of the divine truth all in all?."

qul atuʿallimūna l-laha bidīnikum wal-lahu yaʿlamu mā fī l-samāwāti wamā fī l-arḍi wal-lahu bikulli shayin ʿalīmu

یَمُنُّونَ عَلَیۡكَ أَنۡ أَسۡلَمُوا۟ۖ قُل لَّا تَمُنُّوا۟ عَلَیَّ إِسۡلَـٰمَكُمۖ بَلِ ٱللَّهُ یَمُنُّ عَلَیۡكُمۡ أَنۡ هَدَىٰكُمۡ لِلۡإِیمَـٰنِ إِن كُنتُمۡ صَـٰدِقِینَ ۝١٧

They oblige you O Muhammad and make you feel indebted to them for having conformed to Islam. Say to them: "Do not obligate me for conforming to Islam, but Allah rather is He Who obligates you for opening your hearts' ears and your minds' eyes and influencing your appetite to Faith if indeed you are true to your promises and to your Faith

yamunnūna ʿalayka an aslamū qul lā tamunnū ʿalayya is'lāmakum bali l-lahu yamunnu ʿalaykum an hadākum lil'īmāni in kuntum ṣādiqīn

إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ یَعۡلَمُ غَیۡبَ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ وَٱللَّهُ بَصِیرُۢ بِمَا تَعۡمَلُونَ ۝١٨

Allah is indeed Omniscient of all that is invisible and unknown and of all that is secretly disposed in the heavens and the earth and He holds prescience of all events and of all private thoughts and feelings that are reposited in the breasts. He is Bassirun and (He sees all that you do.

inna l-laha yaʿlamu ghayba l-samāwāti wal-arḍi wal-lahu baṣīrun bimā taʿmalūn
