1 Perfection of Religion in Islam
5:2
یَـٰۤأَیُّهَا ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تُحِلُّوا۟ شَعَـٰۤىِٕرَ ٱللَّهِ وَلَا ٱلشَّهۡرَ ٱلۡحَرَامَ وَلَا ٱلۡهَدۡیَ وَلَا ٱلۡقَلَـٰۤىِٕدَ وَلَاۤ ءَاۤمِّینَ ٱلۡبَیۡتَ ٱلۡحَرَامَ یَبۡتَغُونَ فَضۡلࣰا مِّن رَّبِّهِمۡ وَرِضۡوَ ٰنࣰاۚ وَإِذَا حَلَلۡتُمۡ فَٱصۡطَادُوا۟ۚ وَلَا یَجۡرِمَنَّكُمۡ شَنَءَانُ قَوۡمٍ أَن صَدُّوكُمۡ عَنِ ٱلۡمَسۡجِدِ ٱلۡحَرَامِ أَن تَعۡتَدُوا۟ۘ وَتَعَاوَنُوا۟ عَلَى ٱلۡبِرِّ وَٱلتَّقۡوَىٰۖ وَلَا تَعَاوَنُوا۟ عَلَى ٱلۡإِثۡمِ وَٱلۡعُدۡوَ ٰنِۚ وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَۖ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ شَدِیدُ ٱلۡعِقَابِ ۝٢
Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar
O those who believed! Profane not the waymarks of God nor the Sacred Month nor the sacrificial gift nor the garlanded nor ones who are bound for the Sacred House looking for grace from their Lord and contentment. And when you left your pilgrim sanctity, then, hunt. And let not that you detest a folk who barred you from the Masjid al-Haram drive you into exceeding the limits.• And cooperate with one another in virtuous conduct and God-consciousness and cooperate not with one another in sin and deep seated dislike. And be Godfearing of God. Truly, God is Severe in repayment.
yāayyuhā alladhīna āmanū lā tuḥillū shaʿāira l-lahi walā l-shahra l-ḥarāma walā l-hadya walā l-qalāida walā āmmīna l-bayta l-ḥarāma yabtaghūna faḍlan min rabbihim wariḍ'wānan wa-idhā ḥalaltum fa-iṣ'ṭādū walā yajrimannakum shanaānu qawmin an ṣaddūkum ʿani l-masjidi l-ḥarāmi an taʿtadū wataʿāwanū ʿalā l-biri wal-taqwā walā taʿāwanū ʿalā l-ith'mi wal-ʿud'wāni wa-ittaqū l-laha inna l-laha shadīdu l-ʿiqāb
5:3
حُرِّمَتۡ عَلَیۡكُمُ ٱلۡمَیۡتَةُ وَٱلدَّمُ وَلَحۡمُ ٱلۡخِنزِیرِ وَمَاۤ أُهِلَّ لِغَیۡرِ ٱللَّهِ بِهِۦ وَٱلۡمُنۡخَنِقَةُ وَٱلۡمَوۡقُوذَةُ وَٱلۡمُتَرَدِّیَةُ وَٱلنَّطِیحَةُ وَمَاۤ أَكَلَ ٱلسَّبُعُ إِلَّا مَا ذَكَّیۡتُمۡ وَمَا ذُبِحَ عَلَى ٱلنُّصُبِ وَأَن تَسۡتَقۡسِمُوا۟ بِٱلۡأَزۡلَـٰمِۚ ذَ ٰلِكُمۡ فِسۡقٌۗ ٱلۡیَوۡمَ یَىِٕسَ ٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوا۟ مِن دِینِكُمۡ فَلَا تَخۡشَوۡهُمۡ وَٱخۡشَوۡنِۚ ٱلۡیَوۡمَ أَكۡمَلۡتُ لَكُمۡ دِینَكُمۡ وَأَتۡمَمۡتُ عَلَیۡكُمۡ نِعۡمَتِی وَرَضِیتُ لَكُمُ ٱلۡإِسۡلَـٰمَ دِینࣰاۚ فَمَنِ ٱضۡطُرَّ فِی مَخۡمَصَةٍ غَیۡرَ مُتَجَانِفࣲ لِّإِثۡمࣲ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورࣱ رَّحِیمࣱ ۝٣
Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar
Carrion was forbidden to you and blood and flesh of swine and what of it was hallowed to other than God and the one that is a strangled beast and the one that is beaten to death and the animal one fallen to its death and the animal gored to death or eaten by a beast of prey—but what you slew lawfully—and what were sacrificed to fetishes and what you partition by divining arrows. That is contrary to moral law. Today, those who were ungrateful gave up hope because of your way of life. So dread them not but dread Me. Today, I perfected your way of life for you and I fulfilled My divine blessing on you and I was well-pleased with submission to the One God for your way of life. Whoever was driven by necessity due to emptiness—not one who inclines to sin—then, truly, God is Forgiving, Compassionate.
ḥurrimat ʿalaykumu l-maytatu wal-damu walaḥmu l-khinzīri wamā uhilla lighayri l-lahi bihi wal-mun'khaniqatu wal-mawqūdhatu wal-mutaradiyatu wal-naṭīḥatu wamā akala l-sabuʿu illā mā dhakkaytum wamā dhubiḥa ʿalā l-nuṣubi wa-an tastaqsimū bil-azlāmi dhālikum fis'qun l-yawma ya-isa alladhīna kafarū min dīnikum falā takhshawhum wa-ikh'shawni l-yawma akmaltu lakum dīnakum wa-atmamtu ʿalaykum niʿ'matī waraḍītu lakumu l-is'lāma dīnan famani uḍ'ṭurra fī makhmaṣatin ghayra mutajānifin li-ith'min fa-inna l-laha ghafūrun raḥīmu
5:5
ٱلۡیَوۡمَ أُحِلَّ لَكُمُ ٱلطَّیِّبَـٰتُۖ وَطَعَامُ ٱلَّذِینَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبَ حِلࣱّ لَّكُمۡ وَطَعَامُكُمۡ حِلࣱّ لَّهُمۡۖ وَٱلۡمُحۡصَنَـٰتُ مِنَ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنَـٰتِ وَٱلۡمُحۡصَنَـٰتُ مِنَ ٱلَّذِینَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبَ مِن قَبۡلِكُمۡ إِذَاۤ ءَاتَیۡتُمُوهُنَّ أُجُورَهُنَّ مُحۡصِنِینَ غَیۡرَ مُسَـٰفِحِینَ وَلَا مُتَّخِذِیۤ أَخۡدَانࣲۗ وَمَن یَكۡفُرۡ بِٱلۡإِیمَـٰنِ فَقَدۡ حَبِطَ عَمَلُهُۥ وَهُوَ فِی ٱلۡءَاخِرَةِ مِنَ ٱلۡخَـٰسِرِینَ ۝٥
Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar
Today, what is good was permitted to you. The food of those to whom We gave the Book is allowed to you and your food is allowed to them. And the ones who are free, chaste females from the females, ones who believe and the ones who are free, chaste females from among those who were given the Book before you when you were to give them their bridal due, as males, ones who seek wedlock, not as ones who are licentious males, nor as males, ones who take lovers to themselves. And whoever disbelieves after belief, then, surely, his actions will be fruitless. And he in the world to come will be among the ones who are losers.
al-yawma uḥilla lakumu l-ṭayibātu waṭaʿāmu alladhīna ūtū l-kitāba ḥillun lakum waṭaʿāmukum ḥillun lahum wal-muḥ'ṣanātu mina l-mu'mināti wal-muḥ'ṣanātu mina alladhīna ūtū l-kitāba min qablikum idhā ātaytumūhunna ujūrahunna muḥ'ṣinīna ghayra musāfiḥīna walā muttakhidhī akhdānin waman yakfur bil-īmāni faqad ḥabiṭa ʿamaluhu wahuwa fī l-ākhirati mina l-khāsirīn
2 Duty of Uprightness
5:6
یَـٰۤأَیُّهَا ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوۤا۟ إِذَا قُمۡتُمۡ إِلَى ٱلصَّلَوٰةِ فَٱغۡسِلُوا۟ وُجُوهَكُمۡ وَأَیۡدِیَكُمۡ إِلَى ٱلۡمَرَافِقِ وَٱمۡسَحُوا۟ بِرُءُوسِكُمۡ وَأَرۡجُلَكُمۡ إِلَى ٱلۡكَعۡبَیۡنِۚ وَإِن كُنتُمۡ جُنُبࣰا فَٱطَّهَّرُوا۟ۚ وَإِن كُنتُم مَّرۡضَىٰۤ أَوۡ عَلَىٰ سَفَرٍ أَوۡ جَاۤءَ أَحَدࣱ مِّنكُم مِّنَ ٱلۡغَاۤىِٕطِ أَوۡ لَـٰمَسۡتُمُ ٱلنِّسَاۤءَ فَلَمۡ تَجِدُوا۟ مَاۤءࣰ فَتَیَمَّمُوا۟ صَعِیدࣰا طَیِّبࣰا فَٱمۡسَحُوا۟ بِوُجُوهِكُمۡ وَأَیۡدِیكُم مِّنۡهُۚ مَا یُرِیدُ ٱللَّهُ لِیَجۡعَلَ عَلَیۡكُم مِّنۡ حَرَجࣲ وَلَـٰكِن یُرِیدُ لِیُطَهِّرَكُمۡ وَلِیُتِمَّ نِعۡمَتَهُۥ عَلَیۡكُمۡ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تَشۡكُرُونَ ۝٦
Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar
O those who believed! When you stood up for the formal prayer, then, wash your faces and your hands up to the elbows and wipe your heads and your feet up to the ankles. If you had been defiled, then, cleanse yourselves. And if you had been sick or on a journey or one of you drew near from the privy or you came into sexual contact with your wives and you find no water, then, aim at getting wholesome, dry earth and wipe your faces and hands with it. God wants not to make any impediment for you and He wants to purify you and to fulfill His divine blessing on you, so that perhaps you will give thanks.
yāayyuhā alladhīna āmanū idhā qum'tum ilā l-ṣalati fa-igh'silū wujūhakum wa-aydiyakum ilā l-marāfiqi wa-im'saḥū biruūsikum wa-arjulakum ilā l-kaʿbayni wa-in kuntum junuban fa-iṭṭahharū wa-in kuntum marḍā aw ʿalā safarin aw jāa aḥadun minkum mina l-ghāiṭi aw lāmastumu l-nisāa falam tajidū māan fatayammamū ṣaʿīdan ṭayyiban fa-im'saḥū biwujūhikum wa-aydīkum min'hu mā yurīdu l-lahu liyajʿala ʿalaykum min ḥarajin walākin yurīdu liyuṭahhirakum waliyutimma niʿ'matahu ʿalaykum laʿallakum tashkurūn

5:12
۞ وَلَقَدۡ أَخَذَ ٱللَّهُ مِیثَـٰقَ بَنِیۤ إِسۡرَ ٰۤءِیلَ وَبَعَثۡنَا مِنۡهُمُ ٱثۡنَیۡ عَشَرَ نَقِیبࣰاۖ وَقَالَ ٱللَّهُ إِنِّی مَعَكُمۡۖ لَىِٕنۡ أَقَمۡتُمُ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَءَاتَیۡتُمُ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ وَءَامَنتُم بِرُسُلِی وَعَزَّرۡتُمُوهُمۡ وَأَقۡرَضۡتُمُ ٱللَّهَ قَرۡضًا حَسَنࣰا لَّأُكَفِّرَنَّ عَنكُمۡ سَیِّءَاتِكُمۡ وَلَأُدۡخِلَنَّكُمۡ جَنَّـٰتࣲ تَجۡرِی مِن تَحۡتِهَا ٱلۡأَنۡهَـٰرُۚ فَمَن كَفَرَ بَعۡدَ ذَ ٰلِكَ مِنكُمۡ فَقَدۡ ضَلَّ سَوَاۤءَ ٱلسَّبِیلِ ۝١٢
Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar
And, certainly, God took a solemn promise from the Children of Israel and We raised up among them twelve chieftains. And God said: Truly, I am with you. If you performed the formal prayer and gave the purifying alms and believed in My Messengers and you supported them and you lent God a fairer loan, I would, certainly, absolve you of your evil deeds. And I would, certainly, cause you to enter Gardens beneath which rivers run. Then, whoever among you was ungrateful after this, then, surely, he went astray from the right way.
walaqad akhadha l-lahu mīthāqa banī is'rāīla wabaʿathnā min'humu ith'nay ʿashara naqīban waqāla l-lahu innī maʿakum la-in aqamtumu l-ṣalata waātaytumu l-zakata waāmantum birusulī waʿazzartumūhum wa-aqraḍtumu l-laha qarḍan ḥasanan la-ukaffiranna ʿankum sayyiātikum wala-ud'khilannakum jannātin tajrī min taḥtihā l-anhāru faman kafara baʿda dhālika minkum faqad ḍalla sawāa l-sabīl

5:41
۞ یَـٰۤأَیُّهَا ٱلرَّسُولُ لَا یَحۡزُنكَ ٱلَّذِینَ یُسَـٰرِعُونَ فِی ٱلۡكُفۡرِ مِنَ ٱلَّذِینَ قَالُوۤا۟ ءَامَنَّا بِأَفۡوَ ٰهِهِمۡ وَلَمۡ تُؤۡمِن قُلُوبُهُمۡۛ وَمِنَ ٱلَّذِینَ هَادُوا۟ۛ سَمَّـٰعُونَ لِلۡكَذِبِ سَمَّـٰعُونَ لِقَوۡمٍ ءَاخَرِینَ لَمۡ یَأۡتُوكَۖ یُحَرِّفُونَ ٱلۡكَلِمَ مِنۢ بَعۡدِ مَوَاضِعِهِۦۖ یَقُولُونَ إِنۡ أُوتِیتُمۡ هَـٰذَا فَخُذُوهُ وَإِن لَّمۡ تُؤۡتَوۡهُ فَٱحۡذَرُوا۟ۚ وَمَن یُرِدِ ٱللَّهُ فِتۡنَتَهُۥ فَلَن تَمۡلِكَ لَهُۥ مِنَ ٱللَّهِ شَیۡءًاۚ أُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ ٱلَّذِینَ لَمۡ یُرِدِ ٱللَّهُ أَن یُطَهِّرَ قُلُوبَهُمۡۚ لَهُمۡ فِی ٱلدُّنۡیَا خِزۡیࣱۖ وَلَهُمۡ فِی ٱلۡءَاخِرَةِ عَذَابٌ عَظِیمࣱ ۝٤١
Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar
O Messenger! Let them not dishearten thee—those who compete with one another in ingratitude among those who said: We believed with their mouths while their hearts believe not. ^And among those who became Jews^ are ones who hearken to lies, ones who hearken to folk of others who approach not thee. They tamper with the words out of context. They say: If you were given this, then, take it, but if you are not given this, then, beware! And for whomever God wants to test, thou wilt never have sway over him against God at all. Those are whom God wants not to purify their hearts. For them in the present is degradation. And for them in the world to come is a tremendous punishment.
yāayyuhā l-rasūlu lā yaḥzunka alladhīna yusāriʿūna fī l-kuf'ri mina alladhīna qālū āmannā bi-afwāhihim walam tu'min qulūbuhum wamina alladhīna hādū sammāʿūna lil'kadhibi sammāʿūna liqawmin ākharīna lam yatūka yuḥarrifūna l-kalima min baʿdi mawāḍiʿihi yaqūlūna in ūtītum hādhā fakhudhūhu wa-in lam tu'tawhu fa-iḥ'dharū waman yuridi l-lahu fit'natahu falan tamlika lahu mina l-lahi shayan ulāika alladhīna lam yuridi l-lahu an yuṭahhira qulūbahum lahum fī l-dun'yā khiz'yun walahum fī l-ākhirati ʿadhābun ʿaẓīmu

5:44
إِنَّاۤ أَنزَلۡنَا ٱلتَّوۡرَىٰةَ فِیهَا هُدࣰى وَنُورࣱۚ یَحۡكُمُ بِهَا ٱلنَّبِیُّونَ ٱلَّذِینَ أَسۡلَمُوا۟ لِلَّذِینَ هَادُوا۟ وَٱلرَّبَّـٰنِیُّونَ وَٱلۡأَحۡبَارُ بِمَا ٱسۡتُحۡفِظُوا۟ مِن كِتَـٰبِ ٱللَّهِ وَكَانُوا۟ عَلَیۡهِ شُهَدَاۤءَۚ فَلَا تَخۡشَوُا۟ ٱلنَّاسَ وَٱخۡشَوۡنِ وَلَا تَشۡتَرُوا۟ بِءَایَـٰتِی ثَمَنࣰا قَلِیلࣰاۚ وَمَن لَّمۡ یَحۡكُم بِمَاۤ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ فَأُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ هُمُ ٱلۡكَـٰفِرُونَ ۝٤٤
Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar
Truly, We caused the Torah to descend wherein is guidance and light. The Prophets give judgment with it, those who submitted to God, for those who became Jews and the rabbis and learned Jewish scholars who committed to memory the Book of God and they had been witnesses to it. So dread not humanity, but dread Me. And exchange not My signs for a little price. And whoever gives not judgment by what God caused to descend, those, they are the ones who are ungrateful.
innā anzalnā l-tawrāta fīhā hudan wanūrun yaḥkumu bihā l-nabiyūna alladhīna aslamū lilladhīna hādū wal-rabāniyūna wal-aḥbāru bimā us'tuḥ'fiẓū min kitābi l-lahi wakānū ʿalayhi shuhadāa falā takhshawū l-nāsa wa-ikh'shawni walā tashtarū biāyātī thamanan qalīlan waman lam yaḥkum bimā anzala l-lahu fa-ulāika humu l-kāfirūn
5:48
وَأَنزَلۡنَاۤ إِلَیۡكَ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبَ بِٱلۡحَقِّ مُصَدِّقࣰا لِّمَا بَیۡنَ یَدَیۡهِ مِنَ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبِ وَمُهَیۡمِنًا عَلَیۡهِۖ فَٱحۡكُم بَیۡنَهُم بِمَاۤ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُۖ وَلَا تَتَّبِعۡ أَهۡوَاۤءَهُمۡ عَمَّا جَاۤءَكَ مِنَ ٱلۡحَقِّۚ لِكُلࣲّ جَعَلۡنَا مِنكُمۡ شِرۡعَةࣰ وَمِنۡهَاجࣰاۚ وَلَوۡ شَاۤءَ ٱللَّهُ لَجَعَلَكُمۡ أُمَّةࣰ وَ ٰحِدَةࣰ وَلَـٰكِن لِّیَبۡلُوَكُمۡ فِی مَاۤ ءَاتَىٰكُمۡۖ فَٱسۡتَبِقُوا۟ ٱلۡخَیۡرَ ٰتِۚ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ مَرۡجِعُكُمۡ جَمِیعࣰا فَیُنَبِّئُكُم بِمَا كُنتُمۡ فِیهِ تَخۡتَلِفُونَ ۝٤٨
Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar
And We caused the Book to descend to thee with The Truth, that which establishes as true what was before it of the Book and that which preserves it. So give judgment between them by what God caused to descend. And follow not their desires that drew near thee against The Truth. For each among you We made a divine law and an open road. And if God willed, He would have made you one community to try you with what He gave you so be forward in good deeds. To God is your return altogether. Then, He will tell you about what you had been at variance in it.
wa-anzalnā ilayka l-kitāba bil-ḥaqi muṣaddiqan limā bayna yadayhi mina l-kitābi wamuhayminan ʿalayhi fa-uḥ'kum baynahum bimā anzala l-lahu walā tattabiʿ ahwāahum ʿammā jāaka mina l-ḥaqi likullin jaʿalnā minkum shir'ʿatan wamin'hājan walaw shāa l-lahu lajaʿalakum ummatan wāḥidatan walākin liyabluwakum fī mā ātākum fa-is'tabiqū l-khayrāti ilā l-lahi marjiʿukum jamīʿan fayunabbi-ukum bimā kuntum fīhi takhtalifūn

وَقَالَتِ ٱلۡیَهُودُ یَدُ ٱللَّهِ مَغۡلُولَةٌۚ غُلَّتۡ أَیۡدِیهِمۡ وَلُعِنُوا۟ بِمَا قَالُوا۟ۘ بَلۡ یَدَاهُ مَبۡسُوطَتَانِ یُنفِقُ كَیۡفَ یَشَاۤءُۚ وَلَیَزِیدَنَّ كَثِیرࣰا مِّنۡهُم مَّاۤ أُنزِلَ إِلَیۡكَ مِن رَّبِّكَ طُغۡیَـٰنࣰا وَكُفۡرࣰاۚ وَأَلۡقَیۡنَا بَیۡنَهُمُ ٱلۡعَدَ ٰوَةَ وَٱلۡبَغۡضَاۤءَ إِلَىٰ یَوۡمِ ٱلۡقِیَـٰمَةِۚ كُلَّمَاۤ أَوۡقَدُوا۟ نَارࣰا لِّلۡحَرۡبِ أَطۡفَأَهَا ٱللَّهُۚ وَیَسۡعَوۡنَ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ فَسَادࣰاۚ وَٱللَّهُ لَا یُحِبُّ ٱلۡمُفۡسِدِینَ ۝٦٤
Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar
And the Jews said: The hand of God is one that is restricted! Restricted were their hands! And they were cursed for what they said.• Nay! His hands are ones that are stretched out: He spends how He wills. And, certainly, many of them increase by what was caused to descend to thee from thy Lord in defiance and in ingratitude. And We cast among them enmity and hatred until the Day of Resurrection. Whenever they kindled a fire of war, God extinguished it. And they hasten about corrupting in and on the earth. And God loves not the ones who make corruption.
waqālati l-yahūdu yadu l-lahi maghlūlatun ghullat aydīhim waluʿinū bimā qālū bal yadāhu mabsūṭatāni yunfiqu kayfa yashāu walayazīdanna kathīran min'hum mā unzila ilayka min rabbika ṭugh'yānan wakuf'ran wa-alqaynā baynahumu l-ʿadāwata wal-baghḍāa ilā yawmi l-qiyāmati kullamā awqadū nāran lil'ḥarbi aṭfa-ahā l-lahu wayasʿawna fī l-arḍi fasādan wal-lahu lā yuḥibbu l-muf'sidīn

لَا یُؤَاخِذُكُمُ ٱللَّهُ بِٱللَّغۡوِ فِیۤ أَیۡمَـٰنِكُمۡ وَلَـٰكِن یُؤَاخِذُكُم بِمَا عَقَّدتُّمُ ٱلۡأَیۡمَـٰنَۖ فَكَفَّـٰرَتُهُۥۤ إِطۡعَامُ عَشَرَةِ مَسَـٰكِینَ مِنۡ أَوۡسَطِ مَا تُطۡعِمُونَ أَهۡلِیكُمۡ أَوۡ كِسۡوَتُهُمۡ أَوۡ تَحۡرِیرُ رَقَبَةࣲۖ فَمَن لَّمۡ یَجِدۡ فَصِیَامُ ثَلَـٰثَةِ أَیَّامࣲۚ ذَ ٰلِكَ كَفَّـٰرَةُ أَیۡمَـٰنِكُمۡ إِذَا حَلَفۡتُمۡۚ وَٱحۡفَظُوۤا۟ أَیۡمَـٰنَكُمۡۚ كَذَ ٰلِكَ یُبَیِّنُ ٱللَّهُ لَكُمۡ ءَایَـٰتِهِۦ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تَشۡكُرُونَ ۝٨٩
Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar
God will not take you to task for what is idle talk in your oaths, but He will take you to task for oaths you made as an agreement. Then, its expiation is the feeding of ten needy people of the average of what you feed your own people or clothing them or letting go of a bondsperson. But whoever finds not the means, then, formal fasting for three days. That is the expiation for your oaths when you swore them. And keep your oaths safe. Thus, God makes manifest His signs to you so that perhaps you will give thanks.
lā yuākhidhukumu l-lahu bil-laghwi fī aymānikum walākin yuākhidhukum bimā ʿaqqadttumu l-aymāna fakaffāratuhu iṭ'ʿāmu ʿasharati masākīna min awsaṭi mā tuṭ'ʿimūna ahlīkum aw kis'watuhum aw taḥrīru raqabatin faman lam yajid faṣiyāmu thalāthati ayyāmin dhālika kaffāratu aymānikum idhā ḥalaftum wa-iḥ'faẓū aymānakum kadhālika yubayyinu l-lahu lakum āyātihi laʿallakum tashkurūn
13 Inviolability of Ka'bah
5:95
یَـٰۤأَیُّهَا ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تَقۡتُلُوا۟ ٱلصَّیۡدَ وَأَنتُمۡ حُرُمࣱۚ وَمَن قَتَلَهُۥ مِنكُم مُّتَعَمِّدࣰا فَجَزَاۤءࣱ مِّثۡلُ مَا قَتَلَ مِنَ ٱلنَّعَمِ یَحۡكُمُ بِهِۦ ذَوَا عَدۡلࣲ مِّنكُمۡ هَدۡیَۢا بَـٰلِغَ ٱلۡكَعۡبَةِ أَوۡ كَفَّـٰرَةࣱ طَعَامُ مَسَـٰكِینَ أَوۡ عَدۡلُ ذَ ٰلِكَ صِیَامࣰا لِّیَذُوقَ وَبَالَ أَمۡرِهِۦۗ عَفَا ٱللَّهُ عَمَّا سَلَفَۚ وَمَنۡ عَادَ فَیَنتَقِمُ ٱللَّهُ مِنۡهُۚ وَٱللَّهُ عَزِیزࣱ ذُو ٱنتِقَامٍ ۝٩٥
Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar
O those who believed! Kill not game when you are in pilgrim sanctity. And whoever of you killed as one who is willful, then, the recompense is like what he killed of flocks by two possessors of justice who give judgment. Among you will be a sacrificial gift—that which reaches the Kabah—or the expiation of food for the needy or the equivalent of that in formal fasting so that he, certainly, experiences the mischief of his conduct. God pardoned what is past. And whoever reverted to it, then, God will requite him. And God is Almighty, Possessor of Requital.
yāayyuhā alladhīna āmanū lā taqtulū l-ṣayda wa-antum ḥurumun waman qatalahu minkum mutaʿammidan fajazāon mith'lu mā qatala mina l-naʿami yaḥkumu bihi dhawā ʿadlin minkum hadyan bāligha l-kaʿbati aw kaffāratun ṭaʿāmu masākīna aw ʿadlu dhālika ṣiyāman liyadhūqa wabāla amrihi ʿafā l-lahu ʿammā salafa waman ʿāda fayantaqimu l-lahu min'hu wal-lahu ʿazīzun dhū intiqāmi

5:106
یَـٰۤأَیُّهَا ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ شَهَـٰدَةُ بَیۡنِكُمۡ إِذَا حَضَرَ أَحَدَكُمُ ٱلۡمَوۡتُ حِینَ ٱلۡوَصِیَّةِ ٱثۡنَانِ ذَوَا عَدۡلࣲ مِّنكُمۡ أَوۡ ءَاخَرَانِ مِنۡ غَیۡرِكُمۡ إِنۡ أَنتُمۡ ضَرَبۡتُمۡ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ فَأَصَـٰبَتۡكُم مُّصِیبَةُ ٱلۡمَوۡتِۚ تَحۡبِسُونَهُمَا مِنۢ بَعۡدِ ٱلصَّلَوٰةِ فَیُقۡسِمَانِ بِٱللَّهِ إِنِ ٱرۡتَبۡتُمۡ لَا نَشۡتَرِی بِهِۦ ثَمَنࣰا وَلَوۡ كَانَ ذَا قُرۡبَىٰ وَلَا نَكۡتُمُ شَهَـٰدَةَ ٱللَّهِ إِنَّاۤ إِذࣰا لَّمِنَ ٱلۡءَاثِمِینَ ۝١٠٦
Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar
O those who believed! Have testimony between you when death attended anyone of you. At the time of bequeathing, have two possessors of justice from among yourselves or two others from among others if you traveled through the region and the affliction of death lit on you. You will detain them both after the formal prayer. And they will swear by God. If you were in doubt about them, have them say: We will not exchange it for a price even if he had been possessing kinship. And we will not keep back testimony of God. Truly, we, then, would be among the ones who are perverted.
yāayyuhā alladhīna āmanū shahādatu baynikum idhā ḥaḍara aḥadakumu l-mawtu ḥīna l-waṣiyati ith'nāni dhawā ʿadlin minkum aw ākharāni min ghayrikum in antum ḍarabtum fī l-arḍi fa-aṣābatkum muṣībatu l-mawti taḥbisūnahumā min baʿdi l-ṣalati fayuq'simāni bil-lahi ini ir'tabtum lā nashtarī bihi thamanan walaw kāna dhā qur'bā walā naktumu shahādata l-lahi innā idhan lamina l-āthimīn

5:110
إِذۡ قَالَ ٱللَّهُ یَـٰعِیسَى ٱبۡنَ مَرۡیَمَ ٱذۡكُرۡ نِعۡمَتِی عَلَیۡكَ وَعَلَىٰ وَ ٰلِدَتِكَ إِذۡ أَیَّدتُّكَ بِرُوحِ ٱلۡقُدُسِ تُكَلِّمُ ٱلنَّاسَ فِی ٱلۡمَهۡدِ وَكَهۡلࣰاۖ وَإِذۡ عَلَّمۡتُكَ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبَ وَٱلۡحِكۡمَةَ وَٱلتَّوۡرَىٰةَ وَٱلۡإِنجِیلَۖ وَإِذۡ تَخۡلُقُ مِنَ ٱلطِّینِ كَهَیۡءَةِ ٱلطَّیۡرِ بِإِذۡنِی فَتَنفُخُ فِیهَا فَتَكُونُ طَیۡرَۢا بِإِذۡنِیۖ وَتُبۡرِئُ ٱلۡأَكۡمَهَ وَٱلۡأَبۡرَصَ بِإِذۡنِیۖ وَإِذۡ تُخۡرِجُ ٱلۡمَوۡتَىٰ بِإِذۡنِیۖ وَإِذۡ كَفَفۡتُ بَنِیۤ إِسۡرَ ٰۤءِیلَ عَنكَ إِذۡ جِئۡتَهُم بِٱلۡبَیِّنَـٰتِ فَقَالَ ٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوا۟ مِنۡهُمۡ إِنۡ هَـٰذَاۤ إِلَّا سِحۡرࣱ مُّبِینࣱ ۝١١٠
Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar
Mention when God said: O Jesus son of Mary! Remember My divine blessing on thee and on the one who is thy mother, when I confirmed thee, Jesus, with the hallowed Spirit so that thou hast spoken to humanity from the cradle and in manhood and when I taught thee the Book and wisdom and the Torah and the Gospel and when thou hast created from clay the likeness of a bird with My permission and thou hast breathed into it and it becomes a bird with My permission and thou hast cured one blind from birth and the leper with My permission and when thou hast brought out the dead with My permission and when I limited the Children of Israel from thee when thou hadst drawn near them with the clear portents. And those who were ungrateful among them said: This is nothing but clear sorcery.
idh qāla l-lahu yāʿīsā ib'na maryama udh'kur niʿ'matī ʿalayka waʿalā wālidatika idh ayyadttuka birūḥi l-qudusi tukallimu l-nāsa fī l-mahdi wakahlan wa-idh ʿallamtuka l-kitāba wal-ḥik'mata wal-tawrāta wal-injīla wa-idh takhluqu mina l-ṭīni kahayati l-ṭayri bi-idh'nī fatanfukhu fīhā fatakūnu ṭayran bi-idh'nī watub'ri-u l-akmaha wal-abraṣa bi-idh'nī wa-idh tukh'riju l-mawtā bi-idh'nī wa-idh kafaftu banī is'rāīla ʿanka idh ji'tahum bil-bayināti faqāla alladhīna kafarū min'hum in hādhā illā siḥ'run mubīnu
