Belief in Allah — Tawhid

الإيمان بالله
Al-Imān bi-Allāh
The absolute oneness of God.

The absolute oneness of God (tawhid). Allah has no partners, children, or equals. He is the Creator, Sustainer, and Sovereign of all creation. The Quran describes 99 beautiful names of Allah, each reflecting an attribute of His perfection. Tawhid is divided into three categories: Tawhid al-Rububiyyah (Oneness of Lordship — God alone creates, sustains, and manages all affairs), Tawhid al-Uluhiyyah (Oneness of Worship — God alone deserves worship), and Tawhid al-Asma wa'l-Sifat (Oneness of Names and Attributes — God's names and attributes are unique and perfect). The Shahada itself is an expression of this core belief. Surah al-Ikhlas (112) summarizes it: "Say, He is Allah, the One. Allah, the Eternal Refuge. He neither begets nor is born, nor is there to Him any equivalent."
