وَتِلۡكَ عَادࣱۖ جَحَدُوا۟ بِءَایَـٰتِ رَبِّهِمۡ وَعَصَوۡا۟ رُسُلَهُۥ وَٱتَّبَعُوۤا۟ أَمۡرَ كُلِّ جَبَّارٍ عَنِیدࣲ ۝٥٩
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And that was 'Aad, who rejected the signs of their Lord and disobeyed His messengers and followed the order of every obstinate tyrant
Abdel Haleem: These were the Ad: they rejected their Lord’s signs, disobeyed His messengers, and followed the command of every obstinate tyrant
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And such were A'ad. They denied the revelations of their Lord and flouted His messengers and followed the command of every froward potentate
Abraham 14:15 Noun
وَٱسۡتَفۡتَحُوا۟ وَخَابَ كُلُّ جَبَّارٍ عَنِیدࣲ ۝١٥
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And they requested victory from Allah , and disappointed, [therefore], was every obstinate tyrant
Abdel Haleem: They asked God to decide, and every obstinate tyrant failed
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And they sought help (from their Lord) and every froward potentate was bought to naught
Mary 19:14 Noun
وَبَرَّۢا بِوَ ٰلِدَیۡهِ وَلَمۡ یَكُن جَبَّارًا عَصِیࣰّا ۝١٤
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And dutiful to his parents, and he was not a disobedient tyrant
Abdel Haleem: kind to his parents, not domineering or rebellious
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And dutiful toward his parents. And he was not arrogant, rebellious
Mary 19:32 Noun
وَبَرَّۢا بِوَ ٰلِدَتِی وَلَمۡ یَجۡعَلۡنِی جَبَّارࣰا شَقِیࣰّا ۝٣٢
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And [made me] dutiful to my mother, and He has not made me a wretched tyrant
Abdel Haleem: to cherish my mother. He did not make me domineering or graceless
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And (hath made me) dutiful toward her who bore me, and hath not made me arrogant, unblest
The Poets 26:130 Noun
وَإِذَا بَطَشۡتُم بَطَشۡتُمۡ جَبَّارِینَ ۝١٣٠
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And when you strike, you strike as tyrants

فَلَمَّاۤ أَنۡ أَرَادَ أَن یَبۡطِشَ بِٱلَّذِی هُوَ عَدُوࣱّ لَّهُمَا قَالَ یَـٰمُوسَىٰۤ أَتُرِیدُ أَن تَقۡتُلَنِی كَمَا قَتَلۡتَ نَفۡسَۢا بِٱلۡأَمۡسِۖ إِن تُرِیدُ إِلَّاۤ أَن تَكُونَ جَبَّارࣰا فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَمَا تُرِیدُ أَن تَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُصۡلِحِینَ ۝١٩
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And when he wanted to strike the one who was an enemy to both of them, he said, "O Moses, do you intend to kill me as you killed someone yesterday? You only want to be a tyrant in the land and do not want to be of the amenders."
Abdel Haleem: As he was about to attack the man who was an enemy to both of them, the man said, ‘Moses, are you going to kill me as you killed that person yesterday? You clearly want to be a tyrant in the land; you do not intend to put things right.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And when he would have fallen upon the man who was an enemy unto them both, he said: O Moses! Wouldst thou kill me as thou didst kill a person yesterday. Thou wouldst be nothing but a tyrant in the land, thou wouldst not be of the reformers
The Forgiver, The Forgiving One 40:35 Noun
ٱلَّذِینَ یُجَـٰدِلُونَ فِیۤ ءَایَـٰتِ ٱللَّهِ بِغَیۡرِ سُلۡطَـٰنٍ أَتَىٰهُمۡۖ كَبُرَ مَقۡتًا عِندَ ٱللَّهِ وَعِندَ ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ۚ كَذَ ٰلِكَ یَطۡبَعُ ٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ قَلۡبِ مُتَكَبِّرࣲ جَبَّارࣲ ۝٣٥
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Those who dispute concerning the signs of Allah without an authority having come to them - great is hatred [of them] in the sight of Allah and in the sight of those who have believed. Thus does Allah seal over every heart [belonging to] an arrogant tyrant
Abdel Haleem: those who dispute God’s messages, with no authority given to them, are doing something that is loathed by God and by those who believe. In this way God seals up the heart of every arrogant tyrant
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Those who wrangle concerning the revelations of Allah without any warrant that hath come unto them, it is greatly hateful in the sight of Allah and in the sight of those who believe. Thus doth Allah print on every arrogant, disdainful heart
The Letter Qaf 50:45 Noun
نَّحۡنُ أَعۡلَمُ بِمَا یَقُولُونَۖ وَمَاۤ أَنتَ عَلَیۡهِم بِجَبَّارࣲۖ فَذَكِّرۡ بِٱلۡقُرۡءَانِ مَن یَخَافُ وَعِیدِ ۝٤٥
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): We are most knowing of what they say, and you are not over them a tyrant. But remind by the Qur'an whoever fears My threat
Abdel Haleem: We know best what the disbelievers say. You [Prophet] are not there to force them, so remind, with this Quran, those who fear My warning
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: We are Best Aware of what they say, and thou (O Muhammad) art in no wise a compeller over them. But warn by the Qur'an him who feareth My threat
Exile, Banishment 59:23 Noun
هُوَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِی لَاۤ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ٱلۡمَلِكُ ٱلۡقُدُّوسُ ٱلسَّلَـٰمُ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنُ ٱلۡمُهَیۡمِنُ ٱلۡعَزِیزُ ٱلۡجَبَّارُ ٱلۡمُتَكَبِّرُۚ سُبۡحَـٰنَ ٱللَّهِ عَمَّا یُشۡرِكُونَ ۝٢٣
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): He is Allah , other than whom there is no deity, the Sovereign, the Pure, the Perfection, the Bestower of Faith, the Overseer, the Exalted in Might, the Compeller, the Superior. Exalted is Allah above whatever they associate with Him
Abdel Haleem: He is God: there is no god other than Him, the Controller, the Holy One, Source of Peace, Granter of Security, Guardian over all, the Almighty, the Compeller, the Truly Great; God is far above anything they consider to be His partner
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: He is Allah, than Whom there is no other Allah, the Sovereign Lord, the Holy One, Peace, the Keeper of Faith, the Guardian, the Majestic, the Compeller, the Superb. Glorified be Allah from all that they ascribe as partner (unto Him)
The Table, The Table Spread 5:22 Noun
قَالُوا۟ یَـٰمُوسَىٰۤ إِنَّ فِیهَا قَوۡمࣰا جَبَّارِینَ وَإِنَّا لَن نَّدۡخُلَهَا حَتَّىٰ یَخۡرُجُوا۟ مِنۡهَا فَإِن یَخۡرُجُوا۟ مِنۡهَا فَإِنَّا دَ ٰخِلُونَ ۝٢٢
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): They said, "O Moses, indeed within it is a people of tyrannical strength, and indeed, we will never enter it until they leave it; but if they leave it, then we will enter."
Abdel Haleem: They said, ‘Moses, there is a fearsome people in this land. We will not go there until they leave. If they leave, then we will enter.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: They said: O Moses! Lo! a giant people (dwell) therein and lo! we go not in till they go forth from thence. When they go forth from thence, then we will enter (not till then)
