وَلَا تَجۡعَلۡ یَدَكَ مَغۡلُولَةً إِلَىٰ عُنُقِكَ وَلَا تَبۡسُطۡهَا كُلَّ ٱلۡبَسۡطِ فَتَقۡعُدَ مَلُومࣰا مَّحۡسُورًا ٢٩
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International):
And do not make your hand [as] chained to your neck or extend it completely and [thereby] become blamed and insolvent
Abdel Haleem:
Do not be tight-fisted, nor so open-handed that you end up blamed and overwhelmed with regret
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall:
And let not thy hand be chained to thy neck nor open it with a complete opening, lest thou sit down rebuked, denuded
Mary 19:39
Noun
وَأَنذِرۡهُمۡ یَوۡمَ ٱلۡحَسۡرَةِ إِذۡ قُضِیَ ٱلۡأَمۡرُ وَهُمۡ فِی غَفۡلَةࣲ وَهُمۡ لَا یُؤۡمِنُونَ ٣٩
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International):
And warn them, [O Muhammad], of the Day of Regret, when the matter will be concluded; and [yet], they are in [a state of] heedlessness, and they do not believe
Abdel Haleem:
for they are heedless and do not believe
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall:
And warn them of the Day of anguish when the case hath been decided. Now they are in a state of carelessness, and they believe not
The Cow 2:167
Noun
وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِینَ ٱتَّبَعُوا۟ لَوۡ أَنَّ لَنَا كَرَّةࣰ فَنَتَبَرَّأَ مِنۡهُمۡ كَمَا تَبَرَّءُوا۟ مِنَّاۗ كَذَ ٰلِكَ یُرِیهِمُ ٱللَّهُ أَعۡمَـٰلَهُمۡ حَسَرَ ٰتٍ عَلَیۡهِمۡۖ وَمَا هُم بِخَـٰرِجِینَ مِنَ ٱلنَّارِ ١٦٧
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International):
Those who followed will say, "If only we had another turn [at worldly life] so we could disassociate ourselves from them as they have disassociated themselves from us." Thus will Allah show them their deeds as regrets upon them. And they are never to emerge from the Fire
Abdel Haleem:
the followers will say, ‘If only we had one last chance, we would disown them as they now disown us.’ In this way, God will make them see their deeds as a source of bitter regret: they shall not leave the Fire
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall:
And those who were but followers will say: If a return were possible for us, we would disown them even as they have disowned us. Thus will Allah show them their own deeds as anguish for them, and they will not emerge from the Fire
أَفَمَن زُیِّنَ لَهُۥ سُوۤءُ عَمَلِهِۦ فَرَءَاهُ حَسَنࣰاۖ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ یُضِلُّ مَن یَشَاۤءُ وَیَهۡدِی مَن یَشَاۤءُۖ فَلَا تَذۡهَبۡ نَفۡسُكَ عَلَیۡهِمۡ حَسَرَ ٰتٍۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَلِیمُۢ بِمَا یَصۡنَعُونَ ٨
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International):
Then is one to whom the evil of his deed has been made attractive so he considers it good [like one rightly guided]? For indeed, Allah sends astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. So do not let yourself perish over them in regret. Indeed, Allah is Knowing of what they do
Abdel Haleem:
What about those whose evil deeds are made alluring to them so that they think they are good? God leaves whoever He will to stray and guides whoever He will. [Prophet], do not waste your soul away with regret for them: God knows exactly what they do
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall:
Is he, the evil of whose deeds is made fairseeming unto him so that he deemeth it good, (other than Satan's dupe)? Allah verily sendeth whom He will astray, and guideth whom He will; so let not thy soul expire in sighings for them. Lo! Allah is Aware of what they do
یَـٰحَسۡرَةً عَلَى ٱلۡعِبَادِۚ مَا یَأۡتِیهِم مِّن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ یَسۡتَهۡزِءُونَ ٣٠
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International):
How regretful for the servants. There did not come to them any messenger except that they used to ridicule him
Abdel Haleem:
Alas for human beings! Whenever a messenger comes to them they ridicule him
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall:
Ah, the anguish for the bondmen! Never came there unto them a messenger but they did mock him
أَن تَقُولَ نَفۡسࣱ یَـٰحَسۡرَتَىٰ عَلَىٰ مَا فَرَّطتُ فِی جَنۢبِ ٱللَّهِ وَإِن كُنتُ لَمِنَ ٱلسَّـٰخِرِینَ ٥٦
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International):
Lest a soul should say, "Oh [how great is] my regret over what I neglected in regard to Allah and that I was among the mockers."
Abdel Haleem:
and your soul says, “Woe is me for having neglected what is due to God, and having been one of those who scoffed!”
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall:
Lest any soul should say: Alas, my grief that I was unmindful of Allah, and I was indeed among the scoffers
یَـٰۤأَیُّهَا ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تَكُونُوا۟ كَٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَقَالُوا۟ لِإِخۡوَ ٰنِهِمۡ إِذَا ضَرَبُوا۟ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ أَوۡ كَانُوا۟ غُزࣰّى لَّوۡ كَانُوا۟ عِندَنَا مَا مَاتُوا۟ وَمَا قُتِلُوا۟ لِیَجۡعَلَ ٱللَّهُ ذَ ٰلِكَ حَسۡرَةࣰ فِی قُلُوبِهِمۡۗ وَٱللَّهُ یُحۡیِۦ وَیُمِیتُۗ وَٱللَّهُ بِمَا تَعۡمَلُونَ بَصِیرࣱ ١٥٦
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International):
O you who have believed, do not be like those who disbelieved and said about their brothers when they traveled through the land or went out to fight, "If they had been with us, they would not have died or have been killed," so Allah makes that [misconception] a regret within their hearts. And it is Allah who gives life and causes death, and Allah is Seeing of what you do
Abdel Haleem:
You who believe, do not be like those who disbelieved and said of their brothers who went out on a journey or a raid, ‘If only they had stayed with us they would not have died or been killed,’ for God will make such thoughts a source of anguish in their hearts. It is God who gives life and death; God sees everything you do
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall:
O ye who believe! Be not as those who disbelieved and said of their brethren who went abroad in the land or were fighting in the field: If they had been (here) with us they would not have died or been killed: that Allah may make it anguish in their hearts. Allah giveth life and causeth death; and Allah is Seer of what ye do
ثُمَّ ٱرۡجِعِ ٱلۡبَصَرَ كَرَّتَیۡنِ یَنقَلِبۡ إِلَیۡكَ ٱلۡبَصَرُ خَاسِئࣰا وَهُوَ حَسِیرࣱ ٤
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International):
Then return [your] vision twice again. [Your] vision will return to you humbled while it is fatigued
Abdel Haleem:
Look again! And again! Your sight will turn back to you, weak and defeated
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall:
Then look again and yet again, thy sight will return unto thee weakened and made dim
وَإِنَّهُۥ لَحَسۡرَةٌ عَلَى ٱلۡكَـٰفِرِینَ ٥٠
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International):
And indeed, it will be [a cause of] regret upon the disbelievers
Abdel Haleem:
this will be a source of bitter regret for the disbelievers
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall:
And lo! it is indeed an anguish for the disbelievers
قَدۡ خَسِرَ ٱلَّذِینَ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِلِقَاۤءِ ٱللَّهِۖ حَتَّىٰۤ إِذَا جَاۤءَتۡهُمُ ٱلسَّاعَةُ بَغۡتَةࣰ قَالُوا۟ یَـٰحَسۡرَتَنَا عَلَىٰ مَا فَرَّطۡنَا فِیهَا وَهُمۡ یَحۡمِلُونَ أَوۡزَارَهُمۡ عَلَىٰ ظُهُورِهِمۡۚ أَلَا سَاۤءَ مَا یَزِرُونَ ٣١
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International):
Those will have lost who deny the meeting with Allah , until when the Hour [of resurrection] comes upon them unexpectedly, they will say, "Oh, [how great is] our regret over what we neglected concerning it," while they bear their burdens on their backs. Unquestionably, evil is that which they bear
Abdel Haleem:
Lost indeed are those who deny the meeting with their Lord until, when the Hour suddenly arrives, they say, ‘Alas for us that we disregarded this!’ They will bear their burdens on their backs. How terrible those burdens will be
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall:
They indeed are losers who deny their meeting with Allah until, when the Hour cometh on them suddenly, they cry: Alas for us, that we neglected it! They bear upon their backs their burdens. Ah, evil is that which they bear
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوا۟ یُنفِقُونَ أَمۡوَ ٰلَهُمۡ لِیَصُدُّوا۟ عَن سَبِیلِ ٱللَّهِۚ فَسَیُنفِقُونَهَا ثُمَّ تَكُونُ عَلَیۡهِمۡ حَسۡرَةࣰ ثُمَّ یُغۡلَبُونَۗ وَٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوۤا۟ إِلَىٰ جَهَنَّمَ یُحۡشَرُونَ ٣٦
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International):
Indeed, those who disbelieve spend their wealth to avert [people] from the way of Allah . So they will spend it; then it will be for them a [source of] regret; then they will be overcome. And those who have disbelieved - unto Hell they will be gathered
Abdel Haleem:
They use their wealth to bar people from the path of God, and they will go on doing so. In the end this will be a source of intense regret for them: they will be overcome and herded towards Hell
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall:
Lo! those who disbelieve spend their wealth in order that they may debar (men) from the way of Allah. They will spend it, then it will become an anguish for them, then they will be conquered. And those who disbelieve will be gathered unto hell

The Prophets 21:19
Verb
وَلَهُۥ مَن فِی ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ وَمَنۡ عِندَهُۥ لَا یَسۡتَكۡبِرُونَ عَنۡ عِبَادَتِهِۦ وَلَا یَسۡتَحۡسِرُونَ ١٩
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International):
To Him belongs whoever is in the heavens and the earth. And those near Him are not prevented by arrogance from His worship, nor do they tire
Abdel Haleem:
Everyone in the heavens and earth belongs to Him, and those that are with Him are never too proud to worship Him, nor do they grow weary
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall:
Unto Him belongeth whosoever is in the heavens and the earth. And those who dwell in His presence are not too proud to worship Him, nor do they weary
