وَٱسۡتَبَقَا ٱلۡبَابَ وَقَدَّتۡ قَمِیصَهُۥ مِن دُبُرࣲ وَأَلۡفَیَا سَیِّدَهَا لَدَا ٱلۡبَابِۚ قَالَتۡ مَا جَزَاۤءُ مَنۡ أَرَادَ بِأَهۡلِكَ سُوۤءًا إِلَّاۤ أَن یُسۡجَنَ أَوۡ عَذَابٌ أَلِیمࣱ ۝٢٥
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And they both raced to the door, and she tore his shirt from the back, and they found her husband at the door. She said, "What is the recompense of one who intended evil for your wife but that he be imprisoned or a painful punishment?"
Abdel Haleem: They raced for the door- she tore his shirt from behind- and at the door they met her husband. She said, ‘What, other than prison or painful punishment, should be the reward of someone who tried to dishonour your wife?’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And they raced with one another to the door, and she tore his shirt from behind, and they met her lord and master at the door. She said: What shall be his reward, who wisheth evil to thy folk, save prison or a painful doom
The Bee 16:58 Noun
وَإِذَا بُشِّرَ أَحَدُهُم بِٱلۡأُنثَىٰ ظَلَّ وَجۡهُهُۥ مُسۡوَدࣰّا وَهُوَ كَظِیمࣱ ۝٥٨
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And when one of them is informed of [the birth of] a female, his face becomes dark, and he suppresses grief
Abdel Haleem: When one of them is given news of the birth of a baby girl, his face darkens and he is filled with gloom
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: When if one of them receiveth tidings of the birth of a female, his face remaineth darkened, and he is wroth inwardly
The Cow 2:187 Noun
أُحِلَّ لَكُمۡ لَیۡلَةَ ٱلصِّیَامِ ٱلرَّفَثُ إِلَىٰ نِسَاۤىِٕكُمۡۚ هُنَّ لِبَاسࣱ لَّكُمۡ وَأَنتُمۡ لِبَاسࣱ لَّهُنَّۗ عَلِمَ ٱللَّهُ أَنَّكُمۡ كُنتُمۡ تَخۡتَانُونَ أَنفُسَكُمۡ فَتَابَ عَلَیۡكُمۡ وَعَفَا عَنكُمۡۖ فَٱلۡءَـٰنَ بَـٰشِرُوهُنَّ وَٱبۡتَغُوا۟ مَا كَتَبَ ٱللَّهُ لَكُمۡۚ وَكُلُوا۟ وَٱشۡرَبُوا۟ حَتَّىٰ یَتَبَیَّنَ لَكُمُ ٱلۡخَیۡطُ ٱلۡأَبۡیَضُ مِنَ ٱلۡخَیۡطِ ٱلۡأَسۡوَدِ مِنَ ٱلۡفَجۡرِۖ ثُمَّ أَتِمُّوا۟ ٱلصِّیَامَ إِلَى ٱلَّیۡلِۚ وَلَا تُبَـٰشِرُوهُنَّ وَأَنتُمۡ عَـٰكِفُونَ فِی ٱلۡمَسَـٰجِدِۗ تِلۡكَ حُدُودُ ٱللَّهِ فَلَا تَقۡرَبُوهَاۗ كَذَ ٰلِكَ یُبَیِّنُ ٱللَّهُ ءَایَـٰتِهِۦ لِلنَّاسِ لَعَلَّهُمۡ یَتَّقُونَ ۝١٨٧
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): It has been made permissible for you the night preceding fasting to go to your wives [for sexual relations]. They are clothing for you and you are clothing for them. Allah knows that you used to deceive yourselves, so He accepted your repentance and forgave you. So now, have relations with them and seek that which Allah has decreed for you. And eat and drink until the white thread of dawn becomes distinct to you from the black thread [of night]. Then complete the fast until the sunset. And do not have relations with them as long as you are staying for worship in the mosques. These are the limits [set by] Allah , so do not approach them. Thus does Allah make clear His ordinances to the people that they may become righteous
Abdel Haleem: You [believers] are permitted to lie with your wives during the night of the fast: they are [close] as garments to you, as you are to them. God was aware that you were betraying yourselves, so He turned to you in mercy and pardoned you: now you can lie with them- seek what God has ordained for you- eat and drink until the white thread of dawn becomes distinct from the black. Then fast until nightfall. Do not lie with them during the nights of your devotional retreat in the mosques: these are the bounds set by God, so do not go near them. In this way God makes His messages clear to people, that they may guard themselves against doing wrong
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: It is made lawful for you to go in unto your wives on the night of the fast. They are raiment for you and ye are raiment for them. Allah is Aware that ye were deceiving yourselves in this respect and He hath turned in mercy toward you and relieved you. So hold intercourse with them and seek that which Allah hath ordained for you, and eat and drink until the white thread becometh distinct to you from the black thread of the dawn. Then strictly observe the fast till nightfall and touch them not, but be at your devotions in the mosques. These are the limits imposed by Allah, so approach them not. Thus Allah expoundeth His revelation to mankind that they may ward off (evil)

وَقَالُوا۟ رَبَّنَاۤ إِنَّاۤ أَطَعۡنَا سَادَتَنَا وَكُبَرَاۤءَنَا فَأَضَلُّونَا ٱلسَّبِیلَا۠ ۝٦٧
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And they will say, "Our Lord, indeed we obeyed our masters and our dignitaries, and they led us astray from the [right] way
Abdel Haleem: and ‘Lord! We obeyed our masters and our chiefs, and they led us astray
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And they say: Our Lord! Lo! we obeyed our princes and great men, and they misled us from the Way
The Angels, Originator, The Creator 35:27 Noun
أَلَمۡ تَرَ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ أَنزَلَ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَاۤءِ مَاۤءࣰ فَأَخۡرَجۡنَا بِهِۦ ثَمَرَ ٰتࣲ مُّخۡتَلِفًا أَلۡوَ ٰنُهَاۚ وَمِنَ ٱلۡجِبَالِ جُدَدُۢ بِیضࣱ وَحُمۡرࣱ مُّخۡتَلِفٌ أَلۡوَ ٰنُهَا وَغَرَابِیبُ سُودࣱ ۝٢٧
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Do you not see that Allah sends down rain from the sky, and We produce thereby fruits of varying colors? And in the mountains are tracts, white and red of varying shades and [some] extremely black
Abdel Haleem: Have you [Prophet] not considered how God sends water down from the sky and that We produce with it fruits of varied colours; that there are in the mountains layers of white and red of various hues, and jet black
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Hast thou not seen that Allah causeth water to fall from the sky, and We produce therewith fruit of divers hues; and among the hills are streaks white and red, of divers hues, and (others) raven-black
The Troops, Throngs, The Companies 39:60 Noun
وَیَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِیَـٰمَةِ تَرَى ٱلَّذِینَ كَذَبُوا۟ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ وُجُوهُهُم مُّسۡوَدَّةٌۚ أَلَیۡسَ فِی جَهَنَّمَ مَثۡوࣰى لِّلۡمُتَكَبِّرِینَ ۝٦٠
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And on the Day of Resurrection you will see those who lied about Allah [with] their faces blackened. Is there not in Hell a residence for the arrogant
Abdel Haleem: On the Day of Resurrection, you [Prophet] will see those who told lies against God, their faces darkened. Is there not ample punishment for the arrogant in Hell
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And on the Day of Resurrection thou (Muhammad) seest those who lied concerning Allah with their faces blackened. Is not the home of the scorners in hell
The Family of Imran, The House of Imran 3:39 Noun
فَنَادَتۡهُ ٱلۡمَلَـٰۤىِٕكَةُ وَهُوَ قَاۤىِٕمࣱ یُصَلِّی فِی ٱلۡمِحۡرَابِ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ یُبَشِّرُكَ بِیَحۡیَىٰ مُصَدِّقَۢا بِكَلِمَةࣲ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ وَسَیِّدࣰا وَحَصُورࣰا وَنَبِیࣰّا مِّنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِینَ ۝٣٩
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): So the angels called him while he was standing in prayer in the chamber, "Indeed, Allah gives you good tidings of John, confirming a word from Allah and [who will be] honorable, abstaining [from women], and a prophet from among the righteous."
Abdel Haleem: The angels called out to him, while he stood praying in the sanctuary, ‘God gives you news of John, confirming a Word from God. He will be noble and chaste, a prophet, one of the righteous.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And the angels called to him as he stood praying in the sanctuary: Allah giveth thee glad tidings of (a son whose name is) John, (who cometh) to confirm a word from Allah lordly, chaste, a prophet of the righteous
Ornaments of Gold, Luxury, The Embellishment 43:17 Noun
وَإِذَا بُشِّرَ أَحَدُهُم بِمَا ضَرَبَ لِلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ مَثَلࣰا ظَلَّ وَجۡهُهُۥ مُسۡوَدࣰّا وَهُوَ كَظِیمٌ ۝١٧
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And when one of them is given good tidings of that which he attributes to the Most Merciful in comparison, his face becomes dark, and he suppresses grief
Abdel Haleem: When one of them is given news of the birth of a daughter, such as he so readily ascribes to the Lord of Mercy, his face grows dark and he is filled with gloom
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And if one of them hath tidings of that which he likeneth to the Beneficent One, his countenance becometh black and he is full of inward rage

The Family of Imran, The House of Imran 3:106 Verb
یَوۡمَ تَبۡیَضُّ وُجُوهࣱ وَتَسۡوَدُّ وُجُوهࣱۚ فَأَمَّا ٱلَّذِینَ ٱسۡوَدَّتۡ وُجُوهُهُمۡ أَكَفَرۡتُم بَعۡدَ إِیمَـٰنِكُمۡ فَذُوقُوا۟ ٱلۡعَذَابَ بِمَا كُنتُمۡ تَكۡفُرُونَ ۝١٠٦
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): On the Day [some] faces will turn white and [some] faces will turn black. As for those whose faces turn black, [to them it will be said], "Did you disbelieve after your belief? Then taste the punishment for what you used to reject."
Abdel Haleem: On the Day when some faces brighten and others darken, it will be said to those with darkened faces, ‘How could you reject your faith after believing? Taste the torment for doing so,’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: On the Day when (some) faces will be whitened and (some) faces will be blackened; and as for those whose faces have been blackened, it will be said unto them: Disbelieved ye after your (profession of) belief? Then taste the punishment for that ye disbelieved
