50 وَإِذۡ فَرَقۡنَا بِكُمُ ٱلۡبَحۡرَ فَأَنجَیۡنَـٰكُمۡ وَأَغۡرَقۡنَاۤ ءَالَ فِرۡعَوۡنَ وَأَنتُمۡ تَنظُرُونَ ۝٥٠ wa-idh faraqnā bikumu l-baḥra fa-anjaynākum wa-aghraqnā āla fir'ʿawna wa-antum tanẓurūn and when We parted the sea for you, so saving you and drowning Pharaoh’s people right before your eyes 51 وَإِذۡ وَ ٰعَدۡنَا مُوسَىٰۤ أَرۡبَعِینَ لَیۡلَةࣰ ثُمَّ ٱتَّخَذۡتُمُ ٱلۡعِجۡلَ مِنۢ بَعۡدِهِۦ وَأَنتُمۡ ظَـٰلِمُونَ ۝٥١ wa-idh wāʿadnā mūsā arbaʿīna laylatan thumma ittakhadhtumu l-ʿij'la min baʿdihi wa-antum ẓālimūn We appointed forty nights for Moses [on Mount Sinai] and then, while he was away, you took to worshipping the calf- a terrible wrong 52 ثُمَّ عَفَوۡنَا عَنكُم مِّنۢ بَعۡدِ ذَ ٰلِكَ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تَشۡكُرُونَ ۝٥٢ thumma ʿafawnā ʿankum min baʿdi dhālika laʿallakum tashkurūn Even then We forgave you, so that you might be thankful 53 وَإِذۡ ءَاتَیۡنَا مُوسَى ٱلۡكِتَـٰبَ وَٱلۡفُرۡقَانَ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تَهۡتَدُونَ ۝٥٣ wa-idh ātaynā mūsā l-kitāba wal-fur'qāna laʿallakum tahtadūn Remember when We gave Moses the Scripture, and the means to distinguish [right and wrong], so that you might be guided

54 وَإِذۡ قَالَ مُوسَىٰ لِقَوۡمِهِۦ یَـٰقَوۡمِ إِنَّكُمۡ ظَلَمۡتُمۡ أَنفُسَكُم بِٱتِّخَاذِكُمُ ٱلۡعِجۡلَ فَتُوبُوۤا۟ إِلَىٰ بَارِىِٕكُمۡ فَٱقۡتُلُوۤا۟ أَنفُسَكُمۡ ذَ ٰلِكُمۡ خَیۡرࣱ لَّكُمۡ عِندَ بَارِىِٕكُمۡ فَتَابَ عَلَیۡكُمۡۚ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلتَّوَّابُ ٱلرَّحِیمُ ۝٥٤ wa-idh qāla mūsā liqawmihi yāqawmi innakum ẓalamtum anfusakum bi-ittikhādhikumu l-ʿij'la fatūbū ilā bāri-ikum fa-uq'tulū anfusakum dhālikum khayrun lakum ʿinda bāri-ikum fatāba ʿalaykum innahu huwa l-tawābu l-raḥīm Moses said to his people, ‘My people, you have wronged yourselves by worshipping the calf, so repent to your Maker and kill [the guilty among] you. That is the best you can do in the eyes of your Maker.’ He accepted your repentance: He is the Ever Relenting and the Most Merciful

55 وَإِذۡ قُلۡتُمۡ یَـٰمُوسَىٰ لَن نُّؤۡمِنَ لَكَ حَتَّىٰ نَرَى ٱللَّهَ جَهۡرَةࣰ فَأَخَذَتۡكُمُ ٱلصَّـٰعِقَةُ وَأَنتُمۡ تَنظُرُونَ ۝٥٥ wa-idh qul'tum yāmūsā lan nu'mina laka ḥattā narā l-laha jahratan fa-akhadhatkumu l-ṣāʿiqatu wa-antum tanẓurūn Remember when you said, ‘Moses, we will not believe you until we see God face to face.’ At that, thunderbolts struck you as you looked on 56 ثُمَّ بَعَثۡنَـٰكُم مِّنۢ بَعۡدِ مَوۡتِكُمۡ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تَشۡكُرُونَ ۝٥٦ thumma baʿathnākum min baʿdi mawtikum laʿallakum tashkurūn Then We revived you after your death, so that you might be thankful 57 وَظَلَّلۡنَا عَلَیۡكُمُ ٱلۡغَمَامَ وَأَنزَلۡنَا عَلَیۡكُمُ ٱلۡمَنَّ وَٱلسَّلۡوَىٰۖ كُلُوا۟ مِن طَیِّبَـٰتِ مَا رَزَقۡنَـٰكُمۡۚ وَمَا ظَلَمُونَا وَلَـٰكِن كَانُوۤا۟ أَنفُسَهُمۡ یَظۡلِمُونَ ۝٥٧ waẓallalnā ʿalaykumu l-ghamāma wa-anzalnā ʿalaykumu l-mana wal-salwā kulū min ṭayyibāti mā razaqnākum wamā ẓalamūnā walākin kānū anfusahum yaẓlimūn We made the clouds cover you with shade, and sent manna and quails down to you, saying, ‘Eat the good things We have provided for you.’ It was not Us they wronged; they wronged themselves 58 وَإِذۡ قُلۡنَا ٱدۡخُلُوا۟ هَـٰذِهِ ٱلۡقَرۡیَةَ فَكُلُوا۟ مِنۡهَا حَیۡثُ شِئۡتُمۡ رَغَدࣰا وَٱدۡخُلُوا۟ ٱلۡبَابَ سُجَّدࣰا وَقُولُوا۟ حِطَّةࣱ نَّغۡفِرۡ لَكُمۡ خَطَـٰیَـٰكُمۡۚ وَسَنَزِیدُ ٱلۡمُحۡسِنِینَ ۝٥٨ wa-idh qul'nā ud'khulū hādhihi l-qaryata fakulū min'hā ḥaythu shi'tum raghadan wa-ud'khulū l-bāba sujjadan waqūlū ḥiṭṭatun naghfir lakum khaṭāyākum wasanazīdu l-muḥ'sinīn Remember when We said, ‘Enter this town and eat freely there as you will, but enter its gate humbly and say, “Relieve us!” Then We shall forgive you your sins and increase the rewards of those who do good.’
