Verse 20:110 in Context

106 فَیَذَرُهَا قَاعࣰا صَفۡصَفࣰا ۝١٠٦ fayadharuhā qāʿan ṣafṣafa and leave a flat plain 107 لَّا تَرَىٰ فِیهَا عِوَجࣰا وَلَاۤ أَمۡتࣰا ۝١٠٧ lā tarā fīhā ʿiwajan walā amta with no peak or trough to be seen 108 یَوۡمَىِٕذࣲ یَتَّبِعُونَ ٱلدَّاعِیَ لَا عِوَجَ لَهُۥۖ وَخَشَعَتِ ٱلۡأَصۡوَاتُ لِلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ فَلَا تَسۡمَعُ إِلَّا هَمۡسࣰا ۝١٠٨ yawma-idhin yattabiʿūna l-dāʿiya lā ʿiwaja lahu wakhashaʿati l-aṣwātu lilrraḥmāni falā tasmaʿu illā hamsa On that Day, people will follow the summoner from whom there is no escape; every voice will be hushed for the Lord of Mercy; only whispers will be heard 109 یَوۡمَىِٕذࣲ لَّا تَنفَعُ ٱلشَّفَـٰعَةُ إِلَّا مَنۡ أَذِنَ لَهُ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنُ وَرَضِیَ لَهُۥ قَوۡلࣰا ۝١٠٩ yawma-idhin lā tanfaʿu l-shafāʿatu illā man adhina lahu l-raḥmānu waraḍiya lahu qawla On that Day, intercession will be useless except from those to whom the Lord of Mercy has granted permission and whose words He approves
110 یَعۡلَمُ مَا بَیۡنَ أَیۡدِیهِمۡ وَمَا خَلۡفَهُمۡ وَلَا یُحِیطُونَ بِهِۦ عِلۡمࣰا ۝١١٠ yaʿlamu mā bayna aydīhim wamā khalfahum walā yuḥīṭūna bihi ʿil'ma He knows what is before and behind them, though they do not comprehend Him
111 ۞ وَعَنَتِ ٱلۡوُجُوهُ لِلۡحَیِّ ٱلۡقَیُّومِۖ وَقَدۡ خَابَ مَنۡ حَمَلَ ظُلۡمࣰا ۝١١١ waʿanati l-wujūhu lil'ḥayyi l-qayūmi waqad khāba man ḥamala ẓul'ma and [all] faces will be humbled before the Living, Ever Watchful One. Those burdened with evil deeds will despair 112 وَمَن یَعۡمَلۡ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ وَهُوَ مُؤۡمِنࣱ فَلَا یَخَافُ ظُلۡمࣰا وَلَا هَضۡمࣰا ۝١١٢ waman yaʿmal mina l-ṣāliḥāti wahuwa mu'minun falā yakhāfu ẓul'man walā haḍma but whoever has done righteous deeds and believed need have no fear of injustice or deprivation.’ 113 وَكَذَ ٰلِكَ أَنزَلۡنَـٰهُ قُرۡءَانًا عَرَبِیࣰّا وَصَرَّفۡنَا فِیهِ مِنَ ٱلۡوَعِیدِ لَعَلَّهُمۡ یَتَّقُونَ أَوۡ یُحۡدِثُ لَهُمۡ ذِكۡرࣰا ۝١١٣ wakadhālika anzalnāhu qur'ānan ʿarabiyyan waṣarrafnā fīhi mina l-waʿīdi laʿallahum yattaqūna aw yuḥ'dithu lahum dhik'ra We have sent the Quran down in the Arabic tongue and given all kinds of warnings in it, so that they may beware or take heed 114 فَتَعَـٰلَى ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡمَلِكُ ٱلۡحَقُّۗ وَلَا تَعۡجَلۡ بِٱلۡقُرۡءَانِ مِن قَبۡلِ أَن یُقۡضَىٰۤ إِلَیۡكَ وَحۡیُهُۥۖ وَقُل رَّبِّ زِدۡنِی عِلۡمࣰا ۝١١٤ fataʿālā l-lahu l-maliku l-ḥaqu walā taʿjal bil-qur'āni min qabli an yuq'ḍā ilayka waḥyuhu waqul rabbi zid'nī ʿil'ma exalted be God, the one who is truly in control. [Prophet], do not rush to recite before the revelation is fully complete but say, ‘Lord, increase me in knowledge!’
