Verse 26:49 in Context

45 فَأَلۡقَىٰ مُوسَىٰ عَصَاهُ فَإِذَا هِیَ تَلۡقَفُ مَا یَأۡفِكُونَ ۝٤٥ fa-alqā mūsā ʿaṣāhu fa-idhā hiya talqafu mā yafikūn But Moses threw his staff and- lo and behold!- it swallowed up their tricker 46 فَأُلۡقِیَ ٱلسَّحَرَةُ سَـٰجِدِینَ ۝٤٦ fa-ul'qiya l-saḥaratu sājidīn and the sorcerers fell down on their knees 47 قَالُوۤا۟ ءَامَنَّا بِرَبِّ ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ ۝٤٧ qālū āmannā birabbi l-ʿālamīn exclaiming, ‘We believe in the Lord of the Worlds 48 رَبِّ مُوسَىٰ وَهَـٰرُونَ ۝٤٨ rabbi mūsā wahārūn the Lord of Moses and Aaron.’
49 قَالَ ءَامَنتُمۡ لَهُۥ قَبۡلَ أَنۡ ءَاذَنَ لَكُمۡۖ إِنَّهُۥ لَكَبِیرُكُمُ ٱلَّذِی عَلَّمَكُمُ ٱلسِّحۡرَ فَلَسَوۡفَ تَعۡلَمُونَۚ لَأُقَطِّعَنَّ أَیۡدِیَكُمۡ وَأَرۡجُلَكُم مِّنۡ خِلَـٰفࣲ وَلَأُصَلِّبَنَّكُمۡ أَجۡمَعِینَ ۝٤٩ qāla āmantum lahu qabla an ādhana lakum innahu lakabīrukumu alladhī ʿallamakumu l-siḥ'ra falasawfa taʿlamūna la-uqaṭṭiʿanna aydiyakum wa-arjulakum min khilāfin wala-uṣallibannakum ajmaʿīn Pharaoh said, ‘How dare you believe in him before I have given you permission? He must be the master who taught you sorcery! Soon you will see: I will cut off your alternate hands and feet and then crucify the lot of you!’
50 قَالُوا۟ لَا ضَیۡرَۖ إِنَّاۤ إِلَىٰ رَبِّنَا مُنقَلِبُونَ ۝٥٠ qālū lā ḍayra innā ilā rabbinā munqalibūn ‘That will do us no harm,’ they said, ‘for we are sure to return to our Lord 51 إِنَّا نَطۡمَعُ أَن یَغۡفِرَ لَنَا رَبُّنَا خَطَـٰیَـٰنَاۤ أَن كُنَّاۤ أَوَّلَ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ ۝٥١ innā naṭmaʿu an yaghfira lanā rabbunā khaṭāyānā an kunnā awwala l-mu'minīn We hope that our Lord will forgive us our sins, as we were the first to believe.’ 52 ۞ وَأَوۡحَیۡنَاۤ إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰۤ أَنۡ أَسۡرِ بِعِبَادِیۤ إِنَّكُم مُّتَّبَعُونَ ۝٥٢ wa-awḥaynā ilā mūsā an asri biʿibādī innakum muttabaʿūn Then We revealed Our will to Moses, ‘Leave with My servants by night, for you will be pursued!’ 53 فَأَرۡسَلَ فِرۡعَوۡنُ فِی ٱلۡمَدَاۤىِٕنِ حَـٰشِرِینَ ۝٥٣ fa-arsala fir'ʿawnu fī l-madāini ḥāshirīn Pharaoh sent messengers into the cities, proclaiming
