180 وَلَا یَحۡسَبَنَّ ٱلَّذِینَ یَبۡخَلُونَ بِمَاۤ ءَاتَىٰهُمُ ٱللَّهُ مِن فَضۡلِهِۦ هُوَ خَیۡرࣰا لَّهُمۖ بَلۡ هُوَ شَرࣱّ لَّهُمۡۖ سَیُطَوَّقُونَ مَا بَخِلُوا۟ بِهِۦ یَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِیَـٰمَةِۗ وَلِلَّهِ مِیرَ ٰثُ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۗ وَٱللَّهُ بِمَا تَعۡمَلُونَ خَبِیرࣱ ۝١٨٠ walā yaḥsabanna alladhīna yabkhalūna bimā ātāhumu l-lahu min faḍlihi huwa khayran lahum bal huwa sharrun lahum sayuṭawwaqūna mā bakhilū bihi yawma l-qiyāmati walillahi mīrāthu l-samāwāti wal-arḍi wal-lahu bimā taʿmalūna khabīru Those who are miserly with what God has granted them out of His grace should not think that it is good for them; on the contrary, it is bad for them. Whatever they meanly withhold will be hung around their necks on the Day of Resurrection. It is God who will inherit the heavens and earth: God is well aware of everything you do 181 لَّقَدۡ سَمِعَ ٱللَّهُ قَوۡلَ ٱلَّذِینَ قَالُوۤا۟ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ فَقِیرࣱ وَنَحۡنُ أَغۡنِیَاۤءُۘ سَنَكۡتُبُ مَا قَالُوا۟ وَقَتۡلَهُمُ ٱلۡأَنۢبِیَاۤءَ بِغَیۡرِ حَقࣲّ وَنَقُولُ ذُوقُوا۟ عَذَابَ ٱلۡحَرِیقِ ۝١٨١ laqad samiʿa l-lahu qawla alladhīna qālū inna l-laha faqīrun wanaḥnu aghniyāu sanaktubu mā qālū waqatlahumu l-anbiyāa bighayri ḥaqqin wanaqūlu dhūqū ʿadhāba l-ḥarīq God has certainly heard the words of those who sneer, ‘So God is poor, while we are rich’. We shall record everything they say––as well as their killing of prophets in defiance of all that is right- and We shall say to them, ‘Taste the torment of the scorching fire 182 ذَ ٰلِكَ بِمَا قَدَّمَتۡ أَیۡدِیكُمۡ وَأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَیۡسَ بِظَلَّامࣲ لِّلۡعَبِیدِ ۝١٨٢ dhālika bimā qaddamat aydīkum wa-anna l-laha laysa biẓallāmin lil'ʿabīd That is on account of what you stored up for yourselves with your own hands: God is never unjust to His servants.’ 183 ٱلَّذِینَ قَالُوۤا۟ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَهِدَ إِلَیۡنَاۤ أَلَّا نُؤۡمِنَ لِرَسُولٍ حَتَّىٰ یَأۡتِیَنَا بِقُرۡبَانࣲ تَأۡكُلُهُ ٱلنَّارُۗ قُلۡ قَدۡ جَاۤءَكُمۡ رُسُلࣱ مِّن قَبۡلِی بِٱلۡبَیِّنَـٰتِ وَبِٱلَّذِی قُلۡتُمۡ فَلِمَ قَتَلۡتُمُوهُمۡ إِن كُنتُمۡ صَـٰدِقِینَ ۝١٨٣ alladhīna qālū inna l-laha ʿahida ilaynā allā nu'mina lirasūlin ḥattā yatiyanā biqur'bānin takuluhu l-nāru qul qad jāakum rusulun min qablī bil-bayināti wabi-alladhī qul'tum falima qataltumūhum in kuntum ṣādiqīn To those who say, ‘God has commanded us not to believe in any messenger unless he brings us an offering that fire [from heaven] consumes,’ say [Prophet], ‘Messengers before me have come to you with clear signs, including the one you mention. If you are sincere, why did you kill them?’
184 فَإِن كَذَّبُوكَ فَقَدۡ كُذِّبَ رُسُلࣱ مِّن قَبۡلِكَ جَاۤءُو بِٱلۡبَیِّنَـٰتِ وَٱلزُّبُرِ وَٱلۡكِتَـٰبِ ٱلۡمُنِیرِ ۝١٨٤ fa-in kadhabūka faqad kudhiba rusulun min qablika jāū bil-bayināti wal-zuburi wal-kitābi l-munīr If they reject you, so have other messengers been rejected before you, even though they came with clear evidence, books of wisdom and enlightening scripture

Whoever is kept away from the Fire and admitted to the Garden will have triumphed. The present world is only an illusory pleasure 186 ۞ لَتُبۡلَوُنَّ فِیۤ أَمۡوَ ٰلِكُمۡ وَأَنفُسِكُمۡ وَلَتَسۡمَعُنَّ مِنَ ٱلَّذِینَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبَ مِن قَبۡلِكُمۡ وَمِنَ ٱلَّذِینَ أَشۡرَكُوۤا۟ أَذࣰى كَثِیرࣰاۚ وَإِن تَصۡبِرُوا۟ وَتَتَّقُوا۟ فَإِنَّ ذَ ٰلِكَ مِنۡ عَزۡمِ ٱلۡأُمُورِ ۝١٨٦ latub'lawunna fī amwālikum wa-anfusikum walatasmaʿunna mina alladhīna ūtū l-kitāba min qablikum wamina alladhīna ashrakū adhan kathīran wa-in taṣbirū watattaqū fa-inna dhālika min ʿazmi l-umūr you are sure to be tested through your possessions and persons; you are sure to hear much that is hurtful from those who were given the Scripture before you and from those who associate others with God. If you are steadfast and mindful of God, that is the best course 187 وَإِذۡ أَخَذَ ٱللَّهُ مِیثَـٰقَ ٱلَّذِینَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبَ لَتُبَیِّنُنَّهُۥ لِلنَّاسِ وَلَا تَكۡتُمُونَهُۥ فَنَبَذُوهُ وَرَاۤءَ ظُهُورِهِمۡ وَٱشۡتَرَوۡا۟ بِهِۦ ثَمَنࣰا قَلِیلࣰاۖ فَبِئۡسَ مَا یَشۡتَرُونَ ۝١٨٧ wa-idh akhadha l-lahu mīthāqa alladhīna ūtū l-kitāba latubayyinunnahu lilnnāsi walā taktumūnahu fanabadhūhu warāa ẓuhūrihim wa-ish'taraw bihi thamanan qalīlan fabi'sa mā yashtarūn God took a pledge from those who were given the Scripture- ‘Make it known to people; do not conceal it’- but they tossed the pledge over their shoulders, they bartered it for a small price: what a bad bargain they made 188 لَا تَحۡسَبَنَّ ٱلَّذِینَ یَفۡرَحُونَ بِمَاۤ أَتَوا۟ وَّیُحِبُّونَ أَن یُحۡمَدُوا۟ بِمَا لَمۡ یَفۡعَلُوا۟ فَلَا تَحۡسَبَنَّهُم بِمَفَازَةࣲ مِّنَ ٱلۡعَذَابِۖ وَلَهُمۡ عَذَابٌ أَلِیمࣱ ۝١٨٨ lā taḥsabanna alladhīna yafraḥūna bimā ataw wayuḥibbūna an yuḥ'madū bimā lam yafʿalū falā taḥsabannahum bimafāzatin mina l-ʿadhābi walahum ʿadhābun alīmu Do not think [Prophet] that those who exult in what they have done and seek praise for things they have not done will escape the torment; agonizing torment awaits them
