Verse 37:67 in Context

63 إِنَّا جَعَلۡنَـٰهَا فِتۡنَةࣰ لِّلظَّـٰلِمِینَ ۝٦٣ innā jaʿalnāhā fit'natan lilẓẓālimīn which we have made a test for the evildoers 64 إِنَّهَا شَجَرَةࣱ تَخۡرُجُ فِیۤ أَصۡلِ ٱلۡجَحِیمِ ۝٦٤ innahā shajaratun takhruju fī aṣli l-jaḥīm This tree grows in the heart of the blazing Fire 65 طَلۡعُهَا كَأَنَّهُۥ رُءُوسُ ٱلشَّیَـٰطِینِ ۝٦٥ ṭalʿuhā ka-annahu ruūsu l-shayāṭīn and its fruits are like devils’ heads 66 فَإِنَّهُمۡ لَءَاكِلُونَ مِنۡهَا فَمَالِءُونَ مِنۡهَا ٱلۡبُطُونَ ۝٦٦ fa-innahum laākilūna min'hā famāliūna min'hā l-buṭūn They will fill their bellies eating from it
67 ثُمَّ إِنَّ لَهُمۡ عَلَیۡهَا لَشَوۡبࣰا مِّنۡ حَمِیمࣲ ۝٦٧ thumma inna lahum ʿalayhā lashawban min ḥamīmi then drink scalding water on top of it
68 ثُمَّ إِنَّ مَرۡجِعَهُمۡ لَإِلَى ٱلۡجَحِیمِ ۝٦٨ thumma inna marjiʿahum la-ilā l-jaḥīm then return to the blazing Fire 69 إِنَّهُمۡ أَلۡفَوۡا۟ ءَابَاۤءَهُمۡ ضَاۤلِّینَ ۝٦٩ innahum alfaw ābāahum ḍāllīn They found their forefathers astray 70 فَهُمۡ عَلَىٰۤ ءَاثَـٰرِهِمۡ یُهۡرَعُونَ ۝٧٠ fahum ʿalā āthārihim yuh'raʿūn and rushed to follow in their footsteps- before the disbelievers [of Mecca] 71 وَلَقَدۡ ضَلَّ قَبۡلَهُمۡ أَكۡثَرُ ٱلۡأَوَّلِینَ ۝٧١ walaqad ḍalla qablahum aktharu l-awalīn most men in the past went astray
