Verse 44:28 in Context

24 وَٱتۡرُكِ ٱلۡبَحۡرَ رَهۡوًاۖ إِنَّهُمۡ جُندࣱ مُّغۡرَقُونَ ۝٢٤ wa-ut'ruki l-baḥra rahwan innahum jundun mugh'raqūn Leave the sea behind you parted and their army will be drowned.’ 25 كَمۡ تَرَكُوا۟ مِن جَنَّـٰتࣲ وَعُیُونࣲ ۝٢٥ kam tarakū min jannātin waʿuyūni Many a garden and spring they left behind 26 وَزُرُوعࣲ وَمَقَامࣲ كَرِیمࣲ ۝٢٦ wazurūʿin wamaqāmin karīmi many a cornfield and noble building 27 وَنَعۡمَةࣲ كَانُوا۟ فِیهَا فَـٰكِهِینَ ۝٢٧ wanaʿmatin kānū fīhā fākihīn many a thing in which they had delighted
28 كَذَ ٰلِكَۖ وَأَوۡرَثۡنَـٰهَا قَوۡمًا ءَاخَرِینَ ۝٢٨ kadhālika wa-awrathnāhā qawman ākharīn We gave these to another people to inherit
29 فَمَا بَكَتۡ عَلَیۡهِمُ ٱلسَّمَاۤءُ وَٱلۡأَرۡضُ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ مُنظَرِینَ ۝٢٩ famā bakat ʿalayhimu l-samāu wal-arḍu wamā kānū munẓarīn Neither heavens nor earth shed a tear for them, nor were they given any time 30 وَلَقَدۡ نَجَّیۡنَا بَنِیۤ إِسۡرَ ٰۤءِیلَ مِنَ ٱلۡعَذَابِ ٱلۡمُهِینِ ۝٣٠ walaqad najjaynā banī is'rāīla mina l-ʿadhābi l-muhīn We saved the Children of Israel from their degrading sufferin 31 مِن فِرۡعَوۡنَۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ عَالِیࣰا مِّنَ ٱلۡمُسۡرِفِینَ ۝٣١ min fir'ʿawna innahu kāna ʿāliyan mina l-mus'rifīn at the hands of Pharaoh: he was a tyrant who exceeded all bounds 32 وَلَقَدِ ٱخۡتَرۡنَـٰهُمۡ عَلَىٰ عِلۡمٍ عَلَى ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ ۝٣٢ walaqadi ikh'tarnāhum ʿalā ʿil'min ʿalā l-ʿālamīn We chose them knowingly above others
