26 وَٱذۡكُرُوۤا۟ إِذۡ أَنتُمۡ قَلِیلࣱ مُّسۡتَضۡعَفُونَ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ تَخَافُونَ أَن یَتَخَطَّفَكُمُ ٱلنَّاسُ فَءَاوَىٰكُمۡ وَأَیَّدَكُم بِنَصۡرِهِۦ وَرَزَقَكُم مِّنَ ٱلطَّیِّبَـٰتِ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تَشۡكُرُونَ ۝٢٦ wa-udh'kurū idh antum qalīlun mus'taḍʿafūna fī l-arḍi takhāfūna an yatakhaṭṭafakumu l-nāsu faāwākum wa-ayyadakum binaṣrihi warazaqakum mina l-ṭayibāti laʿallakum tashkurūn Remember when you were few, victimized in the land, afraid that people might catch you, but God sheltered you and strengthened you with His help, and provided you with good things so that you might be grateful 27 یَـٰۤأَیُّهَا ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تَخُونُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَٱلرَّسُولَ وَتَخُونُوۤا۟ أَمَـٰنَـٰتِكُمۡ وَأَنتُمۡ تَعۡلَمُونَ ۝٢٧ yāayyuhā alladhīna āmanū lā takhūnū l-laha wal-rasūla watakhūnū amānātikum wa-antum taʿlamūn Believers, do not betray God and the Messenger, or knowingly betray [other people’s] trust in you 28 وَٱعۡلَمُوۤا۟ أَنَّمَاۤ أَمۡوَ ٰلُكُمۡ وَأَوۡلَـٰدُكُمۡ فِتۡنَةࣱ وَأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ عِندَهُۥۤ أَجۡرٌ عَظِیمࣱ ۝٢٨ wa-iʿ'lamū annamā amwālukum wa-awlādukum fit'natun wa-anna l-laha ʿindahu ajrun ʿaẓīmu Be aware that your possessions and your children are only a test, and that there is a tremendous reward with God 29 یَـٰۤأَیُّهَا ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوۤا۟ إِن تَتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ یَجۡعَل لَّكُمۡ فُرۡقَانࣰا وَیُكَفِّرۡ عَنكُمۡ سَیِّءَاتِكُمۡ وَیَغۡفِرۡ لَكُمۡۗ وَٱللَّهُ ذُو ٱلۡفَضۡلِ ٱلۡعَظِیمِ ۝٢٩ yāayyuhā alladhīna āmanū in tattaqū l-laha yajʿal lakum fur'qānan wayukaffir ʿankum sayyiātikum wayaghfir lakum wal-lahu dhū l-faḍli l-ʿaẓīm Believers, if you remain mindful of God, He will give you a criterion [to tell right from wrong] and wipe out your bad deeds, and forgive you: God’s favour is great indeed

30 وَإِذۡ یَمۡكُرُ بِكَ ٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوا۟ لِیُثۡبِتُوكَ أَوۡ یَقۡتُلُوكَ أَوۡ یُخۡرِجُوكَۚ وَیَمۡكُرُونَ وَیَمۡكُرُ ٱللَّهُۖ وَٱللَّهُ خَیۡرُ ٱلۡمَـٰكِرِینَ ۝٣٠ wa-idh yamkuru bika alladhīna kafarū liyuth'bitūka aw yaqtulūka aw yukh'rijūka wayamkurūna wayamkuru l-lahu wal-lahu khayru l-mākirīn Remember [Prophet] when the disbelievers plotted to take you captive, kill, or expel you. They schemed and so did God: He is the best of schemers

31 وَإِذَا تُتۡلَىٰ عَلَیۡهِمۡ ءَایَـٰتُنَا قَالُوا۟ قَدۡ سَمِعۡنَا لَوۡ نَشَاۤءُ لَقُلۡنَا مِثۡلَ هَـٰذَاۤ إِنۡ هَـٰذَاۤ إِلَّاۤ أَسَـٰطِیرُ ٱلۡأَوَّلِینَ ۝٣١ wa-idhā tut'lā ʿalayhim āyātunā qālū qad samiʿ'nā law nashāu laqul'nā mith'la hādhā in hādhā illā asāṭīru l-awalīn Whenever Our Revelation is recited to them they say, ‘We have heard all this before- we could say something like this if we wanted- this is nothing but ancient fables.’ 32 وَإِذۡ قَالُوا۟ ٱللَّهُمَّ إِن كَانَ هَـٰذَا هُوَ ٱلۡحَقَّ مِنۡ عِندِكَ فَأَمۡطِرۡ عَلَیۡنَا حِجَارَةࣰ مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَاۤءِ أَوِ ٱئۡتِنَا بِعَذَابٍ أَلِیمࣲ ۝٣٢ wa-idh qālū l-lahuma in kāna hādhā huwa l-ḥaqa min ʿindika fa-amṭir ʿalaynā ḥijāratan mina l-samāi awi i'tinā biʿadhābin alīmi They also said, ‘God, if this really is the truth from You, then rain stones on us from the heavens, or send us some other painful punishment.’ 33 وَمَا كَانَ ٱللَّهُ لِیُعَذِّبَهُمۡ وَأَنتَ فِیهِمۡۚ وَمَا كَانَ ٱللَّهُ مُعَذِّبَهُمۡ وَهُمۡ یَسۡتَغۡفِرُونَ ۝٣٣ wamā kāna l-lahu liyuʿadhibahum wa-anta fīhim wamā kāna l-lahu muʿadhibahum wahum yastaghfirūn But God would not send them punishment while you [Prophet] are in their midst, nor would He punish them if they sought forgiveness 34 وَمَا لَهُمۡ أَلَّا یُعَذِّبَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ وَهُمۡ یَصُدُّونَ عَنِ ٱلۡمَسۡجِدِ ٱلۡحَرَامِ وَمَا كَانُوۤا۟ أَوۡلِیَاۤءَهُۥۤۚ إِنۡ أَوۡلِیَاۤؤُهُۥۤ إِلَّا ٱلۡمُتَّقُونَ وَلَـٰكِنَّ أَكۡثَرَهُمۡ لَا یَعۡلَمُونَ ۝٣٤ wamā lahum allā yuʿadhibahumu l-lahu wahum yaṣuddūna ʿani l-masjidi l-ḥarāmi wamā kānū awliyāahu in awliyāuhu illā l-mutaqūna walākinna aktharahum lā yaʿlamūn yet why should God not punish them when they debar people from the Sacred Mosque, although they are not its [rightful] guardians? Only those mindful of God are its rightful guardians, but most of the disbelievers do not realize this
