Mary — Dr Munir Munshey Translation

Said, "Lord! My bones have weakened and my head has lit up with the gray hair (of old age). I haven´t so far been denied anything I ever prayed to You for."

qāla rabbi innī wahana l-ʿaẓmu minnī wa-ish'taʿala l-rasu shayban walam akun biduʿāika rabbi shaqiyya

19:5

وَإِنِّی خِفۡتُ ٱلۡمَوَ ٰلِیَ مِن وَرَاۤءِی وَكَانَتِ ٱمۡرَأَتِی عَاقِرࣰا فَهَبۡ لِی مِن لَّدُنكَ وَلِیࣰّا ۝٥

Dr. Munir Munshey

"I am concerned for my followers after my death. My wife is barren. But, please Lord! Grant me by Your grace a successor (son)."

wa-innī khif'tu l-mawāliya min warāī wakānati im'ra-atī ʿāqiran fahab lī min ladunka waliyya

19:6

یَرِثُنِی وَیَرِثُ مِنۡ ءَالِ یَعۡقُوبَۖ وَٱجۡعَلۡهُ رَبِّ رَضِیࣰّا ۝٦

Dr. Munir Munshey

"One who may inherit from me and from the family of Yaqub, and Lord, please let him be amongst those with whom You are well-pleased."

yarithunī wayarithu min āli yaʿqūba wa-ij'ʿalhu rabbi raḍiyya

19:7

یَـٰزَكَرِیَّاۤ إِنَّا نُبَشِّرُكَ بِغُلَـٰمٍ ٱسۡمُهُۥ یَحۡیَىٰ لَمۡ نَجۡعَل لَّهُۥ مِن قَبۡلُ سَمِیࣰّا ۝٧

Dr. Munir Munshey

"Oh Zakaria, We give you the good news of a son. His name shall be Yahya! Never before have We created anyone with his kind of qualities!"

yāzakariyyā innā nubashiruka bighulāmin us'muhu yaḥyā lam najʿal lahu min qablu samiyya

19:8

قَالَ رَبِّ أَنَّىٰ یَكُونُ لِی غُلَـٰمࣱ وَكَانَتِ ٱمۡرَأَتِی عَاقِرࣰا وَقَدۡ بَلَغۡتُ مِنَ ٱلۡكِبَرِ عِتِیࣰّا ۝٨

Dr. Munir Munshey

Said, "Lord! How could I have a son now? My wife is barren and I have attained a ripe old age."

qāla rabbi annā yakūnu lī ghulāmun wakānati im'ra-atī ʿāqiran waqad balaghtu mina l-kibari ʿitiyya

19:9

قَالَ كَذَ ٰلِكَ قَالَ رَبُّكَ هُوَ عَلَیَّ هَیِّنࣱ وَقَدۡ خَلَقۡتُكَ مِن قَبۡلُ وَلَمۡ تَكُ شَیۡءࣰا ۝٩

Dr. Munir Munshey

Said, "That shall be!" Your Lord said, "This is really easy for Me! I also gave you existence earlier when you were nothing!"

qāla kadhālika qāla rabbuka huwa ʿalayya hayyinun waqad khalaqtuka min qablu walam taku shaya

19:10

قَالَ رَبِّ ٱجۡعَل لِّیۤ ءَایَةࣰۖ قَالَ ءَایَتُكَ أَلَّا تُكَلِّمَ ٱلنَّاسَ ثَلَـٰثَ لَیَالࣲ سَوِیࣰّا ۝١٠

Dr. Munir Munshey

Said, "Lord! Assign a sign for me." Said, "Despite being healthy, you shall be unable to speak for three days. That shall be your sign!"

qāla rabbi ij'ʿal lī āyatan qāla āyatuka allā tukallima l-nāsa thalātha layālin sawiyya

19:11

فَخَرَجَ عَلَىٰ قَوۡمِهِۦ مِنَ ٱلۡمِحۡرَابِ فَأَوۡحَىٰۤ إِلَیۡهِمۡ أَن سَبِّحُوا۟ بُكۡرَةࣰ وَعَشِیࣰّا ۝١١

Dr. Munir Munshey

He emerged from the chamber, and gestured to his followers asking them to sing the praises (of Allah), morning and evening

fakharaja ʿalā qawmihi mina l-miḥ'rābi fa-awḥā ilayhim an sabbiḥū buk'ratan waʿashiyya

19:12

یَـٰیَحۡیَىٰ خُذِ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبَ بِقُوَّةࣲۖ وَءَاتَیۡنَـٰهُ ٱلۡحُكۡمَ صَبِیࣰّا ۝١٢

Dr. Munir Munshey

"Oh Yahya! Hold on to the book with all your might!" We gave him the wisdom even as a lad

yāyaḥyā khudhi l-kitāba biquwwatin waātaynāhu l-ḥuk'ma ṣabiyya

19:13

وَحَنَانࣰا مِّن لَّدُنَّا وَزَكَوٰةࣰۖ وَكَانَ تَقِیࣰّا ۝١٣

Dr. Munir Munshey

And by Our grace, We granted him compassion and purity; he was pious

waḥanānan min ladunnā wazakatan wakāna taqiyya

19:14

وَبَرَّۢا بِوَ ٰلِدَیۡهِ وَلَمۡ یَكُن جَبَّارًا عَصِیࣰّا ۝١٤

Dr. Munir Munshey

He was devoted and kind to his parents; not defiant or arrogant

wabarran biwālidayhi walam yakun jabbāran ʿaṣiyya

19:15

وَسَلَـٰمٌ عَلَیۡهِ یَوۡمَ وُلِدَ وَیَوۡمَ یَمُوتُ وَیَوۡمَ یُبۡعَثُ حَیࣰّا ۝١٥

Dr. Munir Munshey

Peace be upon him, the day he was born! The day he died! And the day he shall be brought back to life

wasalāmun ʿalayhi yawma wulida wayawma yamūtu wayawma yub'ʿathu ḥayya

19:16

وَٱذۡكُرۡ فِی ٱلۡكِتَـٰبِ مَرۡیَمَ إِذِ ٱنتَبَذَتۡ مِنۡ أَهۡلِهَا مَكَانࣰا شَرۡقِیࣰّا ۝١٦

Dr. Munir Munshey

And mention Mary in your narration. Once she excused herself from her family and retired to the eastern wing of the house

wa-udh'kur fī l-kitābi maryama idhi intabadhat min ahlihā makānan sharqiyya

19:17

فَٱتَّخَذَتۡ مِن دُونِهِمۡ حِجَابࣰا فَأَرۡسَلۡنَاۤ إِلَیۡهَا رُوحَنَا فَتَمَثَّلَ لَهَا بَشَرࣰا سَوِیࣰّا ۝١٧

Dr. Munir Munshey

She drew the curtain behind her and there, We sent Our spirit (angel) to her! It appeared before her in the figure of a full grown man

fa-ittakhadhat min dūnihim ḥijāban fa-arsalnā ilayhā rūḥanā fatamathala lahā basharan sawiyya

19:18

قَالَتۡ إِنِّیۤ أَعُوذُ بِٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ مِنكَ إِن كُنتَ تَقِیࣰّا ۝١٨

Dr. Munir Munshey

She cried out, "I seek the protection of Rehman (the Merciful) from you, if you are a God-fearing person!"

qālat innī aʿūdhu bil-raḥmāni minka in kunta taqiyya

19:19

قَالَ إِنَّمَاۤ أَنَا۠ رَسُولُ رَبِّكِ لِأَهَبَ لَكِ غُلَـٰمࣰا زَكِیࣰّا ۝١٩

Dr. Munir Munshey

He said, "What I am, is a messenger of your Lord to bestow upon you a pious son."

qāla innamā anā rasūlu rabbiki li-ahaba laki ghulāman zakiyya

19:20

قَالَتۡ أَنَّىٰ یَكُونُ لِی غُلَـٰمࣱ وَلَمۡ یَمۡسَسۡنِی بَشَرࣱ وَلَمۡ أَكُ بَغِیࣰّا ۝٢٠

Dr. Munir Munshey

Said, "How might I have a son? No man has ever touched me, nor am I a woman of loose morals."

qālat annā yakūnu lī ghulāmun walam yamsasnī basharun walam aku baghiyya

19:21

قَالَ كَذَ ٰلِكِ قَالَ رَبُّكِ هُوَ عَلَیَّ هَیِّنࣱۖ وَلِنَجۡعَلَهُۥۤ ءَایَةࣰ لِّلنَّاسِ وَرَحۡمَةࣰ مِّنَّاۚ وَكَانَ أَمۡرࣰا مَّقۡضِیࣰّا ۝٢١

Dr. Munir Munshey

Said "It shall be! Your Lord says ´It is really too easy for Me´! It is preordained and shall come to pass, so as to make him a sign for the humankind and a blessing from Us´."

qāla kadhāliki qāla rabbuki huwa ʿalayya hayyinun walinajʿalahu āyatan lilnnāsi waraḥmatan minnā wakāna amran maqḍiyya

19:22

۞ فَحَمَلَتۡهُ فَٱنتَبَذَتۡ بِهِۦ مَكَانࣰا قَصِیࣰّا ۝٢٢

Dr. Munir Munshey

She conceived and moved to a place far away

faḥamalathu fa-intabadhat bihi makānan qaṣiyya

19:23

فَأَجَاۤءَهَا ٱلۡمَخَاضُ إِلَىٰ جِذۡعِ ٱلنَّخۡلَةِ قَالَتۡ یَـٰلَیۡتَنِی مِتُّ قَبۡلَ هَـٰذَا وَكُنتُ نَسۡیࣰا مَّنسِیࣰّا ۝٢٣

Dr. Munir Munshey

The distress of labor brought her under a date-palm tree. She said to herself, "I wish I was dead, long gone and forgotten before this ever happened."

fa-ajāahā l-makhāḍu ilā jidh'ʿi l-nakhlati qālat yālaytanī mittu qabla hādhā wakuntu nasyan mansiyya

19:24

فَنَادَىٰهَا مِن تَحۡتِهَاۤ أَلَّا تَحۡزَنِی قَدۡ جَعَلَ رَبُّكِ تَحۡتَكِ سَرِیࣰّا ۝٢٤

Dr. Munir Munshey

He (the angel) called her from close by, "Do not feel sorry for yourself. Your Lord has issued forth a spring right close to where you are!"

fanādāhā min taḥtihā allā taḥzanī qad jaʿala rabbuki taḥtaki sariyya

19:25

وَهُزِّیۤ إِلَیۡكِ بِجِذۡعِ ٱلنَّخۡلَةِ تُسَـٰقِطۡ عَلَیۡكِ رُطَبࣰا جَنِیࣰّا ۝٢٥

Dr. Munir Munshey

"Shake the trunk of the date tree. Moist ripe dates will break loose and fall down."

wahuzzī ilayki bijidh'ʿi l-nakhlati tusāqiṭ ʿalayki ruṭaban janiyya

19:26

فَكُلِی وَٱشۡرَبِی وَقَرِّی عَیۡنࣰاۖ فَإِمَّا تَرَیِنَّ مِنَ ٱلۡبَشَرِ أَحَدࣰا فَقُولِیۤ إِنِّی نَذَرۡتُ لِلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ صَوۡمࣰا فَلَنۡ أُكَلِّمَ ٱلۡیَوۡمَ إِنسِیࣰّا ۝٢٦

Dr. Munir Munshey

"Eat, drink and stay calm. Should any one happen to pass by, tell him you are observing a fast for the sake of Rehman, (the Merciful), and hence shall not talk to anyone."

fakulī wa-ish'rabī waqarrī ʿaynan fa-immā tarayinna mina l-bashari aḥadan faqūlī innī nadhartu lilrraḥmāni ṣawman falan ukallima l-yawma insiyya

19:27

فَأَتَتۡ بِهِۦ قَوۡمَهَا تَحۡمِلُهُۥۖ قَالُوا۟ یَـٰمَرۡیَمُ لَقَدۡ جِئۡتِ شَیۡءࣰا فَرِیࣰّا ۝٢٧

Dr. Munir Munshey

She returned to her folks carrying him (the baby). They said, "Oh Mary! What an unprecedented act have you committed!"

fa-atat bihi qawmahā taḥmiluhu qālū yāmaryamu laqad ji'ti shayan fariyya

19:28

یَـٰۤأُخۡتَ هَـٰرُونَ مَا كَانَ أَبُوكِ ٱمۡرَأَ سَوۡءࣲ وَمَا كَانَتۡ أُمُّكِ بَغِیࣰّا ۝٢٨

Dr. Munir Munshey

"Oh sister of Haroon! Your father was not wicked! Nor was your mother a loose woman!"

yāukh'ta hārūna mā kāna abūki im'ra-a sawin wamā kānat ummuki baghiyya

19:29

فَأَشَارَتۡ إِلَیۡهِۖ قَالُوا۟ كَیۡفَ نُكَلِّمُ مَن كَانَ فِی ٱلۡمَهۡدِ صَبِیࣰّا ۝٢٩

Dr. Munir Munshey

She pointed towards the infant. They said, "How can we converse with an infant lying in a crib?"

fa-ashārat ilayhi qālū kayfa nukallimu man kāna fī l-mahdi ṣabiyya

19:30

قَالَ إِنِّی عَبۡدُ ٱللَّهِ ءَاتَىٰنِیَ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبَ وَجَعَلَنِی نَبِیࣰّا ۝٣٠

Dr. Munir Munshey

The infant said, "I am the servant of Allah! He appointed me His messenger, and granted me the gospel."

qāla innī ʿabdu l-lahi ātāniya l-kitāba wajaʿalanī nabiyya

19:31

وَجَعَلَنِی مُبَارَكًا أَیۡنَ مَا كُنتُ وَأَوۡصَـٰنِی بِٱلصَّلَوٰةِ وَٱلزَّكَوٰةِ مَا دُمۡتُ حَیࣰّا ۝٣١

Dr. Munir Munshey

"He blessed me wherever I might happen to be, and has ordered me to enjoin the ´salat´ and the ´zakat´ as long as I am alive!"

wajaʿalanī mubārakan ayna mā kuntu wa-awṣānī bil-ṣalati wal-zakati mā dum'tu ḥayya

19:32

وَبَرَّۢا بِوَ ٰلِدَتِی وَلَمۡ یَجۡعَلۡنِی جَبَّارࣰا شَقِیࣰّا ۝٣٢

Dr. Munir Munshey

"(I am) devoted to my mother, not hapless and arrogant."

wabarran biwālidatī walam yajʿalnī jabbāran shaqiyya

19:33

وَٱلسَّلَـٰمُ عَلَیَّ یَوۡمَ وُلِدتُّ وَیَوۡمَ أَمُوتُ وَیَوۡمَ أُبۡعَثُ حَیࣰّا ۝٣٣

Dr. Munir Munshey

"Peace upon me the day I was born. The day I shall die. And the day I shall be brought back to life!"

wal-salāmu ʿalayya yawma wulidttu wayawma amūtu wayawma ub'ʿathu ḥayya

19:34

ذَ ٰلِكَ عِیسَى ٱبۡنُ مَرۡیَمَۖ قَوۡلَ ٱلۡحَقِّ ٱلَّذِی فِیهِ یَمۡتَرُونَ ۝٣٤

Dr. Munir Munshey

Such was Jesus, the son of Mary! This is the real truth about him, which they dispute

dhālika ʿīsā ub'nu maryama qawla l-ḥaqi alladhī fīhi yamtarūn

19:35

مَا كَانَ لِلَّهِ أَن یَتَّخِذَ مِن وَلَدࣲۖ سُبۡحَـٰنَهُۥۤۚ إِذَا قَضَىٰۤ أَمۡرࣰا فَإِنَّمَا یَقُولُ لَهُۥ كُن فَیَكُونُ ۝٣٥

Dr. Munir Munshey

It is not befitting of Allah to have a son. Exalted is He! Having decided the matter, He merely tells it, "Be!" Hence it becomes

mā kāna lillahi an yattakhidha min waladin sub'ḥānahu idhā qaḍā amran fa-innamā yaqūlu lahu kun fayakūn

19:36

وَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ رَبِّی وَرَبُّكُمۡ فَٱعۡبُدُوهُۚ هَـٰذَا صِرَ ٰطࣱ مُّسۡتَقِیمࣱ ۝٣٦

Dr. Munir Munshey

"Indeed, Allah is my Lord as well as your Lord! So worship Him. That is the straight path!"

wa-inna l-laha rabbī warabbukum fa-uʿ'budūhu hādhā ṣirāṭun mus'taqīmu

19:37

فَٱخۡتَلَفَ ٱلۡأَحۡزَابُ مِنۢ بَیۡنِهِمۡۖ فَوَیۡلࣱ لِّلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوا۟ مِن مَّشۡهَدِ یَوۡمٍ عَظِیمٍ ۝٣٧

Dr. Munir Munshey

Groups have disputed amongst themselves regarding the day (of judgment). Witnessing that great day shall be disastrous for those who deny its coming

fa-ikh'talafa l-aḥzābu min baynihim fawaylun lilladhīna kafarū min mashhadi yawmin ʿaẓīmi

19:38

أَسۡمِعۡ بِهِمۡ وَأَبۡصِرۡ یَوۡمَ یَأۡتُونَنَاۖ لَـٰكِنِ ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ ٱلۡیَوۡمَ فِی ضَلَـٰلࣲ مُّبِینࣲ ۝٣٨

Dr. Munir Munshey

On the day they shall come to Us, their vision and hearing shall be sharper! Today the evil-doers are clearly lost in their misguidance

asmiʿ bihim wa-abṣir yawma yatūnanā lākini l-ẓālimūna l-yawma fī ḍalālin mubīni

19:39

وَأَنذِرۡهُمۡ یَوۡمَ ٱلۡحَسۡرَةِ إِذۡ قُضِیَ ٱلۡأَمۡرُ وَهُمۡ فِی غَفۡلَةࣲ وَهُمۡ لَا یُؤۡمِنُونَ ۝٣٩

Dr. Munir Munshey

Warn them of the regretful embarrassment of the day when the matter shall be decided and put to rest! Today they are in heedless and neglectful denial, and they do not believe

wa-andhir'hum yawma l-ḥasrati idh quḍiya l-amru wahum fī ghaflatin wahum lā yu'minūn

19:40

إِنَّا نَحۡنُ نَرِثُ ٱلۡأَرۡضَ وَمَنۡ عَلَیۡهَا وَإِلَیۡنَا یُرۡجَعُونَ ۝٤٠

Dr. Munir Munshey

We shall inherit the earth, including all that is upon it. Towards Us they all shall return

innā naḥnu narithu l-arḍa waman ʿalayhā wa-ilaynā yur'jaʿūn

19:41

وَٱذۡكُرۡ فِی ٱلۡكِتَـٰبِ إِبۡرَ ٰهِیمَۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ صِدِّیقࣰا نَّبِیًّا ۝٤١

Dr. Munir Munshey

And mention Ibraheem in the book; he was a truthful person and a prophet

wa-udh'kur fī l-kitābi ib'rāhīma innahu kāna ṣiddīqan nabiyya

19:42

إِذۡ قَالَ لِأَبِیهِ یَـٰۤأَبَتِ لِمَ تَعۡبُدُ مَا لَا یَسۡمَعُ وَلَا یُبۡصِرُ وَلَا یُغۡنِی عَنكَ شَیۡءࣰا ۝٤٢

Dr. Munir Munshey

He said to his father, "Oh Father! Why do you worship that which neither sees, nor hears, nor can protect you from anything."

idh qāla li-abīhi yāabati lima taʿbudu mā lā yasmaʿu walā yub'ṣiru walā yugh'nī ʿanka shaya

19:43

یَـٰۤأَبَتِ إِنِّی قَدۡ جَاۤءَنِی مِنَ ٱلۡعِلۡمِ مَا لَمۡ یَأۡتِكَ فَٱتَّبِعۡنِیۤ أَهۡدِكَ صِرَ ٰطࣰا سَوِیࣰّا ۝٤٣

Dr. Munir Munshey

"Oh Father, true knowledge did not come to you, but has come to me. So follow me, I shall lead you along the balanced path!"

yāabati innī qad jāanī mina l-ʿil'mi mā lam yatika fa-ittabiʿ'nī ahdika ṣirāṭan sawiyya

19:44

یَـٰۤأَبَتِ لَا تَعۡبُدِ ٱلشَّیۡطَـٰنَۖ إِنَّ ٱلشَّیۡطَـٰنَ كَانَ لِلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ عَصِیࣰّا ۝٤٤

Dr. Munir Munshey

"Oh Father, do not obey Shaitan. Indeed, Shaitan is disobedient to Rehman."

yāabati lā taʿbudi l-shayṭāna inna l-shayṭāna kāna lilrraḥmāni ʿaṣiyya

19:45

یَـٰۤأَبَتِ إِنِّیۤ أَخَافُ أَن یَمَسَّكَ عَذَابࣱ مِّنَ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ فَتَكُونَ لِلشَّیۡطَـٰنِ وَلِیࣰّا ۝٤٥

Dr. Munir Munshey

"I am worried, Oh Father, that a great torment might fall upon you from Rehman, and that you might end up as a comrade of Shaitan."

yāabati innī akhāfu an yamassaka ʿadhābun mina l-raḥmāni fatakūna lilshayṭāni waliyya

19:46

قَالَ أَرَاغِبٌ أَنتَ عَنۡ ءَالِهَتِی یَـٰۤإِبۡرَ ٰهِیمُۖ لَىِٕن لَّمۡ تَنتَهِ لَأَرۡجُمَنَّكَۖ وَٱهۡجُرۡنِی مَلِیࣰّا ۝٤٦

Dr. Munir Munshey

He said, "Have you turned away from your gods, oh Ibraheem? Desist, for if you do not, I shall stone you to death. Out of my sight, now!"

qāla arāghibun anta ʿan ālihatī yāib'rāhīmu la-in lam tantahi la-arjumannaka wa-uh'jur'nī maliyya

19:47

قَالَ سَلَـٰمٌ عَلَیۡكَۖ سَأَسۡتَغۡفِرُ لَكَ رَبِّیۤۖ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ بِی حَفِیࣰّا ۝٤٧

Dr. Munir Munshey

Said, "Peace be upon you. I shall ask my Lord to forgive you. He is really very kind to me!"

qāla salāmun ʿalayka sa-astaghfiru laka rabbī innahu kāna bī ḥafiyya

19:48

وَأَعۡتَزِلُكُمۡ وَمَا تَدۡعُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ وَأَدۡعُوا۟ رَبِّی عَسَىٰۤ أَلَّاۤ أَكُونَ بِدُعَاۤءِ رَبِّی شَقِیࣰّا ۝٤٨

Dr. Munir Munshey

"I hereby wash my hands of you, and those you call gods besides Allah. I will worship my Lord! I am confident, If I pray to Him, I shall not be deprived."

wa-aʿtazilukum wamā tadʿūna min dūni l-lahi wa-adʿū rabbī ʿasā allā akūna biduʿāi rabbī shaqiyya

19:49

فَلَمَّا ٱعۡتَزَلَهُمۡ وَمَا یَعۡبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ وَهَبۡنَا لَهُۥۤ إِسۡحَـٰقَ وَیَعۡقُوبَۖ وَكُلࣰّا جَعَلۡنَا نَبِیࣰّا ۝٤٩

Dr. Munir Munshey

After he abandoned them along with those whom they called gods beside Allah, We gave him Ishaq and Yaqub. We appointed each of them a prophet

falammā iʿ'tazalahum wamā yaʿbudūna min dūni l-lahi wahabnā lahu is'ḥāqa wayaʿqūba wakullan jaʿalnā nabiyya

19:50

وَوَهَبۡنَا لَهُم مِّن رَّحۡمَتِنَا وَجَعَلۡنَا لَهُمۡ لِسَانَ صِدۡقٍ عَلِیࣰّا ۝٥٠

Dr. Munir Munshey

We showered Our blessings upon them and gave them high honor

wawahabnā lahum min raḥmatinā wajaʿalnā lahum lisāna ṣid'qin ʿaliyya

19:51

وَٱذۡكُرۡ فِی ٱلۡكِتَـٰبِ مُوسَىٰۤۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ مُخۡلَصࣰا وَكَانَ رَسُولࣰا نَّبِیࣰّا ۝٥١

Dr. Munir Munshey

And mention Musa in the book. He was really chosen, a prophet and a messenger

wa-udh'kur fī l-kitābi mūsā innahu kāna mukh'laṣan wakāna rasūlan nabiyya

19:52

وَنَـٰدَیۡنَـٰهُ مِن جَانِبِ ٱلطُّورِ ٱلۡأَیۡمَنِ وَقَرَّبۡنَـٰهُ نَجِیࣰّا ۝٥٢

Dr. Munir Munshey

We called him out from the right side of the mountain Toor, and pulled him close, so as to grant him a private audience

wanādaynāhu min jānibi l-ṭūri l-aymani waqarrabnāhu najiyya

19:53

وَوَهَبۡنَا لَهُۥ مِن رَّحۡمَتِنَاۤ أَخَاهُ هَـٰرُونَ نَبِیࣰّا ۝٥٣

Dr. Munir Munshey

And We gave his brother, Haroon, to him as a prophet, a blessing from Us

wawahabnā lahu min raḥmatinā akhāhu hārūna nabiyya

19:54

وَٱذۡكُرۡ فِی ٱلۡكِتَـٰبِ إِسۡمَـٰعِیلَۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ صَادِقَ ٱلۡوَعۡدِ وَكَانَ رَسُولࣰا نَّبِیࣰّا ۝٥٤

Dr. Munir Munshey

And mention Ismail in the book. Indeed, he was true to his words, a prophet and a messenger

wa-udh'kur fī l-kitābi is'māʿīla innahu kāna ṣādiqa l-waʿdi wakāna rasūlan nabiyya

19:55

وَكَانَ یَأۡمُرُ أَهۡلَهُۥ بِٱلصَّلَوٰةِ وَٱلزَّكَوٰةِ وَكَانَ عِندَ رَبِّهِۦ مَرۡضِیࣰّا ۝٥٥

Dr. Munir Munshey

He obligated ´salat´ and ´zakat´ upon his family. In the eyes of his Lord, he was an adorable person

wakāna yamuru ahlahu bil-ṣalati wal-zakati wakāna ʿinda rabbihi marḍiyya

19:56

وَٱذۡكُرۡ فِی ٱلۡكِتَـٰبِ إِدۡرِیسَۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ صِدِّیقࣰا نَّبِیࣰّا ۝٥٦

Dr. Munir Munshey

And in the book, mention Idrees. Indeed, he was a truthful person and a prophet

wa-udh'kur fī l-kitābi id'rīsa innahu kāna ṣiddīqan nabiyya

19:57

وَرَفَعۡنَـٰهُ مَكَانًا عَلِیًّا ۝٥٧

Dr. Munir Munshey

We raised him to an exalted status

warafaʿnāhu makānan ʿaliyya

19:58

أُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ ٱلَّذِینَ أَنۡعَمَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَیۡهِم مِّنَ ٱلنَّبِیِّـۧنَ مِن ذُرِّیَّةِ ءَادَمَ وَمِمَّنۡ حَمَلۡنَا مَعَ نُوحࣲ وَمِن ذُرِّیَّةِ إِبۡرَ ٰهِیمَ وَإِسۡرَ ٰۤءِیلَ وَمِمَّنۡ هَدَیۡنَا وَٱجۡتَبَیۡنَاۤۚ إِذَا تُتۡلَىٰ عَلَیۡهِمۡ ءَایَـٰتُ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ خَ̅رُّ̅و̅ا۟̅ ̅سُ̅جَّ̅دࣰ̅ا̅ وَبُكِیࣰّا ۝٥٨ ۩

Dr. Munir Munshey

These are the ones Allah showered His blessings upon. These prophets were the descendants of Adam, and the descendants of those We boarded on the boat with Nooh. They were the descendants of Ibraheem and Ismail. Those were the ones We picked for Our guidance! Such were they that when Our verses were recited to them, they fell prostrate on the ground, tears welling up in their eyes

ulāika alladhīna anʿama l-lahu ʿalayhim mina l-nabiyīna min dhurriyyati ādama wamimman ḥamalnā maʿa nūḥin wamin dhurriyyati ib'rāhīma wa-is'rāīla wamimman hadaynā wa-ij'tabaynā idhā tut'lā ʿalayhim āyātu l-raḥmāni kharrū sujjadan wabukiyya

19:59

۞ فَخَلَفَ مِنۢ بَعۡدِهِمۡ خَلۡفٌ أَضَاعُوا۟ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَٱتَّبَعُوا۟ ٱلشَّهَوَ ٰتِۖ فَسَوۡفَ یَلۡقَوۡنَ غَیًّا ۝٥٩

Dr. Munir Munshey

They were succeeded by ignorant ones, those who squandered their "salat´ and followed their whims and the pleasures of the flesh. Their just deserts shall soon catch up with them

fakhalafa min baʿdihim khalfun aḍāʿū l-ṣalata wa-ittabaʿū l-shahawāti fasawfa yalqawna ghayya

19:60

إِلَّا مَن تَابَ وَءَامَنَ وَعَمِلَ صَـٰلِحࣰا فَأُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ یَدۡخُلُونَ ٱلۡجَنَّةَ وَلَا یُظۡلَمُونَ شَیۡءࣰا ۝٦٠

Dr. Munir Munshey

Except those who repent, believe, and perform good deeds. They will enter paradise. They will not be dealt with unfairly

illā man tāba waāmana waʿamila ṣāliḥan fa-ulāika yadkhulūna l-janata walā yuẓ'lamūna shaya

19:61

جَنَّـٰتِ عَدۡنٍ ٱلَّتِی وَعَدَ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنُ عِبَادَهُۥ بِٱلۡغَیۡبِۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ وَعۡدُهُۥ مَأۡتِیࣰّا ۝٦١

Dr. Munir Munshey

Rehman has promised this paradise to His servants for eternity, in exchange for their belief in the unseen. Surely His promise will be fulfilled

jannāti ʿadnin allatī waʿada l-raḥmānu ʿibādahu bil-ghaybi innahu kāna waʿduhu matiyya

19:62

لَّا یَسۡمَعُونَ فِیهَا لَغۡوًا إِلَّا سَلَـٰمࣰاۖ وَلَهُمۡ رِزۡقُهُمۡ فِیهَا بُكۡرَةࣰ وَعَشِیࣰّا ۝٦٢

Dr. Munir Munshey

In it, they shall hear nothing vulgar; only peace! There, each day and each night, their due portion (sustenance) shall be delivered to them

lā yasmaʿūna fīhā laghwan illā salāman walahum riz'quhum fīhā buk'ratan waʿashiyya

19:63

تِلۡكَ ٱلۡجَنَّةُ ٱلَّتِی نُورِثُ مِنۡ عِبَادِنَا مَن كَانَ تَقِیࣰّا ۝٦٣

Dr. Munir Munshey

Such is the paradise, which We will allow only Our pious servants to inherit

til'ka l-janatu allatī nūrithu min ʿibādinā man kāna taqiyya

19:64

وَمَا نَتَنَزَّلُ إِلَّا بِأَمۡرِ رَبِّكَۖ لَهُۥ مَا بَیۡنَ أَیۡدِینَا وَمَا خَلۡفَنَا وَمَا بَیۡنَ ذَ ٰلِكَۚ وَمَا كَانَ رَبُّكَ نَسِیࣰّا ۝٦٤

Dr. Munir Munshey

(Angels said), "We descend only when ordered by your Lord. To Him belongs all that lies before us, behind us, and in between. Your Lord is not the One to forget."

wamā natanazzalu illā bi-amri rabbika lahu mā bayna aydīnā wamā khalfanā wamā bayna dhālika wamā kāna rabbuka nasiyya

19:65

رَّبُّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَمَا بَیۡنَهُمَا فَٱعۡبُدۡهُ وَٱصۡطَبِرۡ لِعِبَـٰدَتِهِۦۚ هَلۡ تَعۡلَمُ لَهُۥ سَمِیࣰّا ۝٦٥

Dr. Munir Munshey

He is the sustainer of the heavens and the earth, and all else in between. So worship Him in steadfast obedience. Do you know any other comparable to Him

rabbu l-samāwāti wal-arḍi wamā baynahumā fa-uʿ'bud'hu wa-iṣ'ṭabir liʿibādatihi hal taʿlamu lahu samiyya

19:66

وَیَقُولُ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنُ أَءِذَا مَا مِتُّ لَسَوۡفَ أُخۡرَجُ حَیًّا ۝٦٦

Dr. Munir Munshey

(Yet), man says "When I am dead, will I emerge back to life again?"

wayaqūlu l-insānu a-idhā mā mittu lasawfa ukh'raju ḥayya

19:67

أَوَ لَا یَذۡكُرُ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنُ أَنَّا خَلَقۡنَـٰهُ مِن قَبۡلُ وَلَمۡ یَكُ شَیۡءࣰا ۝٦٧

Dr. Munir Munshey

Does man not recall? It was We Who created him earlier, when he was nothing

awalā yadhkuru l-insānu annā khalaqnāhu min qablu walam yaku shaya

19:68

فَوَرَبِّكَ لَنَحۡشُرَنَّهُمۡ وَٱلشَّیَـٰطِینَ ثُمَّ لَنُحۡضِرَنَّهُمۡ حَوۡلَ جَهَنَّمَ جِثِیࣰّا ۝٦٨

Dr. Munir Munshey

By your Lord! Very definitely! We shall gather them and the Shaitans together. Then, certainly, We shall collect them all around the hellfire, in a manner that they shall be crawling on their knees

fawarabbika lanaḥshurannahum wal-shayāṭīna thumma lanuḥ'ḍirannahum ḥawla jahannama jithiyya

19:69

ثُمَّ لَنَنزِعَنَّ مِن كُلِّ شِیعَةٍ أَیُّهُمۡ أَشَدُّ عَلَى ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ عِتِیࣰّا ۝٦٩

Dr. Munir Munshey

Thereafter, We shall definitely bring forth from each group of people the one who had been the most ardent and rebellious opponent of Rehman

thumma lananziʿanna min kulli shīʿatin ayyuhum ashaddu ʿalā l-raḥmāni ʿitiyya

19:70

ثُمَّ لَنَحۡنُ أَعۡلَمُ بِٱلَّذِینَ هُمۡ أَوۡلَىٰ بِهَا صِلِیࣰّا ۝٧٠

Dr. Munir Munshey

Of course, We know very well who amongst them deserves to burn in hell

thumma lanaḥnu aʿlamu bi-alladhīna hum awlā bihā ṣiliyya

19:71

وَإِن مِّنكُمۡ إِلَّا وَارِدُهَاۚ كَانَ عَلَىٰ رَبِّكَ حَتۡمࣰا مَّقۡضِیࣰّا ۝٧١

Dr. Munir Munshey

There isn´t any of you who can avoid passing by the hellfire. Your Lord has made this incumbent upon Himself

wa-in minkum illā wāriduhā kāna ʿalā rabbika ḥatman maqḍiyya

19:72

ثُمَّ نُنَجِّی ٱلَّذِینَ ٱتَّقَوا۟ وَّنَذَرُ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِینَ فِیهَا جِثِیࣰّا ۝٧٢

Dr. Munir Munshey

Then, We will let the transgressors fall tumbling down into it, but We will rescue those who have been heedful and pious

thumma nunajjī alladhīna ittaqaw wanadharu l-ẓālimīna fīhā jithiyya

19:73

وَإِذَا تُتۡلَىٰ عَلَیۡهِمۡ ءَایَـٰتُنَا بَیِّنَـٰتࣲ قَالَ ٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوا۟ لِلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوۤا۟ أَیُّ ٱلۡفَرِیقَیۡنِ خَیۡرࣱ مَّقَامࣰا وَأَحۡسَنُ نَدِیࣰّا ۝٧٣

Dr. Munir Munshey

When Our clear lucid verses are recited, those who disbelieve the verses taunt those who believe by saying, "Which of the two of us has a better abode, and enjoys and mingles with better and more distinguished company?"

wa-idhā tut'lā ʿalayhim āyātunā bayyinātin qāla alladhīna kafarū lilladhīna āmanū ayyu l-farīqayni khayrun maqāman wa-aḥsanu nadiyya

19:74

وَكَمۡ أَهۡلَكۡنَا قَبۡلَهُم مِّن قَرۡنٍ هُمۡ أَحۡسَنُ أَثَـٰثࣰا وَرِءۡیࣰا ۝٧٤

Dr. Munir Munshey

Many groups have We destroyed prior to them. They were better equipped, better furnished and better in appearance

wakam ahlaknā qablahum min qarnin hum aḥsanu athāthan wari'ya

19:75

قُلۡ مَن كَانَ فِی ٱلضَّلَـٰلَةِ فَلۡیَمۡدُدۡ لَهُ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنُ مَدًّاۚ حَتَّىٰۤ إِذَا رَأَوۡا۟ مَا یُوعَدُونَ إِمَّا ٱلۡعَذَابَ وَإِمَّا ٱلسَّاعَةَ فَسَیَعۡلَمُونَ مَنۡ هُوَ شَرࣱّ مَّكَانࣰا وَأَضۡعَفُ جُندࣰا ۝٧٥

Dr. Munir Munshey

Say, "Rehman gives leeway to those who indulge in gross negligence until they get to see that which is promised to be their lot, either the punishment (in this world) or the hour (of judgment)! They would soon realise whose status is lower! Whose allies are weaker

qul man kāna fī l-ḍalālati falyamdud lahu l-raḥmānu maddan ḥattā idhā ra-aw mā yūʿadūna immā l-ʿadhāba wa-immā l-sāʿata fasayaʿlamūna man huwa sharrun makānan wa-aḍʿafu junda

19:76

وَیَزِیدُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِینَ ٱهۡتَدَوۡا۟ هُدࣰىۗ وَٱلۡبَـٰقِیَـٰتُ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتُ خَیۡرٌ عِندَ رَبِّكَ ثَوَابࣰا وَخَیۡرࣱ مَّرَدًّا ۝٧٦

Dr. Munir Munshey

Allah increases in guidance those who are on the straight path, and the results of their good deeds are better with Allah in terms of rewards and consequences

wayazīdu l-lahu alladhīna ih'tadaw hudan wal-bāqiyātu l-ṣāliḥātu khayrun ʿinda rabbika thawāban wakhayrun maradda

19:77

أَفَرَءَیۡتَ ٱلَّذِی كَفَرَ بِءَایَـٰتِنَا وَقَالَ لَأُوتَیَنَّ مَالࣰا وَوَلَدًا ۝٧٧

Dr. Munir Munshey

Did you see the one who has chosen to deny Our signs and yet says, "I shall definitely be granted wealth and children?"

afara-ayta alladhī kafara biāyātinā waqāla laūtayanna mālan wawalada

19:78

أَطَّلَعَ ٱلۡغَیۡبَ أَمِ ٱتَّخَذَ عِندَ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ عَهۡدࣰا ۝٧٨

Dr. Munir Munshey

Has he peeked into the unseen? or has he entered into a contract with Rehman

aṭṭalaʿa l-ghayba ami ittakhadha ʿinda l-raḥmāni ʿahda

19:79

كَلَّاۚ سَنَكۡتُبُ مَا یَقُولُ وَنَمُدُّ لَهُۥ مِنَ ٱلۡعَذَابِ مَدࣰّا ۝٧٩

Dr. Munir Munshey

Indeed not! Rather, We are recording everything he says. We shall extend his punishment a great deal further

kallā sanaktubu mā yaqūlu wanamuddu lahu mina l-ʿadhābi madda

19:80

وَنَرِثُهُۥ مَا یَقُولُ وَیَأۡتِینَا فَرۡدࣰا ۝٨٠

Dr. Munir Munshey

We shall repossess all that he owns. And We shall bring him out all alone

wanarithuhu mā yaqūlu wayatīnā farda

19:81

وَٱتَّخَذُوا۟ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ ءَالِهَةࣰ لِّیَكُونُوا۟ لَهُمۡ عِزࣰّا ۝٨١

Dr. Munir Munshey

They have taken gods other than Allah, so that they may have supporters

wa-ittakhadhū min dūni l-lahi ālihatan liyakūnū lahum ʿizza

19:82

كَلَّاۚ سَیَكۡفُرُونَ بِعِبَادَتِهِمۡ وَیَكُونُونَ عَلَیۡهِمۡ ضِدًّا ۝٨٢

Dr. Munir Munshey

No! Indeed, their false gods will disown their worship, and they will become adversaries

kallā sayakfurūna biʿibādatihim wayakūnūna ʿalayhim ḍidda

19:83

أَلَمۡ تَرَ أَنَّاۤ أَرۡسَلۡنَا ٱلشَّیَـٰطِینَ عَلَى ٱلۡكَـٰفِرِینَ تَؤُزُّهُمۡ أَزࣰّا ۝٨٣

Dr. Munir Munshey

Do you not notice? We send the Shaitans upon the disbelievers, and they continually incite and instigate them

alam tara annā arsalnā l-shayāṭīna ʿalā l-kāfirīna ta-uzzuhum azza

19:84

فَلَا تَعۡجَلۡ عَلَیۡهِمۡۖ إِنَّمَا نَعُدُّ لَهُمۡ عَدࣰّا ۝٨٤

Dr. Munir Munshey

Do not be impatient with them. We are counting down their days

falā taʿjal ʿalayhim innamā naʿuddu lahum ʿadda

19:85

یَوۡمَ نَحۡشُرُ ٱلۡمُتَّقِینَ إِلَى ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ وَفۡدࣰا ۝٨٥

Dr. Munir Munshey

That day, We will gather the pious (God-fearing) as guests of Rehman

yawma naḥshuru l-mutaqīna ilā l-raḥmāni wafda

19:86

وَنَسُوقُ ٱلۡمُجۡرِمِینَ إِلَىٰ جَهَنَّمَ وِرۡدࣰا ۝٨٦

Dr. Munir Munshey

While the sinners will be like thirst-stricken animals, whom We will shove towards the hellfire

wanasūqu l-muj'rimīna ilā jahannama wir'da

19:87

لَّا یَمۡلِكُونَ ٱلشَّفَـٰعَةَ إِلَّا مَنِ ٱتَّخَذَ عِندَ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ عَهۡدࣰا ۝٨٧

Dr. Munir Munshey

No one has the ability to intervene, except those whom Rehman has promised

lā yamlikūna l-shafāʿata illā mani ittakhadha ʿinda l-raḥmāni ʿahda

19:88

وَقَالُوا۟ ٱتَّخَذَ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنُ وَلَدࣰا ۝٨٨

Dr. Munir Munshey

What? Do they say Rehman (God) has a son

waqālū ittakhadha l-raḥmānu walada

19:89

لَّقَدۡ جِئۡتُمۡ شَیۡءًا إِدࣰّا ۝٨٩

Dr. Munir Munshey

They have surely brought forth a grave thing

laqad ji'tum shayan idda

19:90

تَكَادُ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتُ یَتَفَطَّرۡنَ مِنۡهُ وَتَنشَقُّ ٱلۡأَرۡضُ وَتَخِرُّ ٱلۡجِبَالُ هَدًّا ۝٩٠

Dr. Munir Munshey

So grave, indeed, that it may cause the earth to explode into pieces! Or the mountains may come tumbling down! Or the heavens might just crack asunder

takādu l-samāwātu yatafaṭṭarna min'hu watanshaqqu l-arḍu watakhirru l-jibālu hadda

19:91

أَن دَعَوۡا۟ لِلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ وَلَدࣰا ۝٩١

Dr. Munir Munshey

They have dared to assign a son for Rehman

an daʿaw lilrraḥmāni walada

19:92

وَمَا یَنۢبَغِی لِلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ أَن یَتَّخِذَ وَلَدًا ۝٩٢

Dr. Munir Munshey

It is not befitting for Rehman to have a son

wamā yanbaghī lilrraḥmāni an yattakhidha walada

19:93

إِن كُلُّ مَن فِی ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ إِلَّاۤ ءَاتِی ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ عَبۡدࣰا ۝٩٣

Dr. Munir Munshey

Every being in the heavens and on the earth shall come before Rehman as a slave

in kullu man fī l-samāwāti wal-arḍi illā ātī l-raḥmāni ʿabda

19:94

لَّقَدۡ أَحۡصَىٰهُمۡ وَعَدَّهُمۡ عَدࣰّا ۝٩٤

Dr. Munir Munshey

He is aware of their exact number, and He has counted them all up

laqad aḥṣāhum waʿaddahum ʿadda

19:95

وَكُلُّهُمۡ ءَاتِیهِ یَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِیَـٰمَةِ فَرۡدًا ۝٩٥

Dr. Munir Munshey

On the Day of Judgment, each of them shall arrive all alone, and shall be on his own

wakulluhum ātīhi yawma l-qiyāmati farda

19:96

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ سَیَجۡعَلُ لَهُمُ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنُ وُدࣰّا ۝٩٦

Dr. Munir Munshey

And of course, Rehman will instill with love, the hearts of those who believe and do the righteous deeds

inna alladhīna āmanū waʿamilū l-ṣāliḥāti sayajʿalu lahumu l-raḥmānu wudda

19:97

فَإِنَّمَا یَسَّرۡنَـٰهُ بِلِسَانِكَ لِتُبَشِّرَ بِهِ ٱلۡمُتَّقِینَ وَتُنذِرَ بِهِۦ قَوۡمࣰا لُّدࣰّا ۝٩٧

Dr. Munir Munshey

We have made this (Quran) easy for you, in your own language, in order that you may give the glad tidings to the pious and the God-fearing. With it, you may warn those that are belligerent

fa-innamā yassarnāhu bilisānika litubashira bihi l-mutaqīna watundhira bihi qawman ludda

19:98

وَكَمۡ أَهۡلَكۡنَا قَبۡلَهُم مِّن قَرۡنٍ هَلۡ تُحِسُّ مِنۡهُم مِّنۡ أَحَدٍ أَوۡ تَسۡمَعُ لَهُمۡ رِكۡزَۢا ۝٩٨

Dr. Munir Munshey

Many a people have We destroyed before them. So now, can you sense even a faint sign of their existence, or hear even a wisp of their tale

wakam ahlaknā qablahum min qarnin hal tuḥissu min'hum min aḥadin aw tasmaʿu lahum rik'za
