1 Trials purify

۞ الۤمۤ ۝١

Alif. La’am. Mi’em..

أَحَسِبَ ٱلنَّاسُ أَن یُتۡرَكُوۤا۟ أَن یَقُولُوۤا۟ ءَامَنَّا وَهُمۡ لَا یُفۡتَنُونَ ۝٢

Do the people think that they will be left to say, "We profess belief” (in Allâh) and they will not be led into temptation?

aḥasiba l-nāsu an yut'rakū an yaqūlū āmannā wahum lā yuf'tanūn

وَلَقَدۡ فَتَنَّا ٱلَّذِینَ مِن قَبۡلِهِمۡۖ فَلَیَعۡلَمَنَّ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِینَ صَدَقُوا۟ وَلَیَعۡلَمَنَّ ٱلۡكَـٰذِبِینَ ۝٣

Verily, We have led those before them into temptation, so Allâh will certainly identify the ones who are true; and will certainly identify the ones who are liars.

walaqad fatannā alladhīna min qablihim falayaʿlamanna l-lahu alladhīna ṣadaqū walayaʿlamanna l-kādhibīn

أَمۡ حَسِبَ ٱلَّذِینَ یَعۡمَلُونَ ٱلسَّیِّءَاتِ أَن یَسۡبِقُونَاۚ سَاۤءَ مَا یَحۡكُمُونَ ۝٤

Or do those who keep on falling into sin think that they can outstrip Us? How repugnant is that which they judge!

am ḥasiba alladhīna yaʿmalūna l-sayiāti an yasbiqūnā sāa mā yaḥkumūn

مَن كَانَ یَرۡجُوا۟ لِقَاۤءَ ٱللَّهِ فَإِنَّ أَجَلَ ٱللَّهِ لَءَاتࣲۚ وَهُوَ ٱلسَّمِیعُ ٱلۡعَلِیمُ ۝٥

Whoever looks forward to the meeting with Allâh (needs to know that) the term predetermined by Allâh is definitely coming. He is the All-Hearer, the All-Knowing.

man kāna yarjū liqāa l-lahi fa-inna ajala l-lahi laātin wahuwa l-samīʿu l-ʿalīm

وَمَن جَـٰهَدَ فَإِنَّمَا یُجَـٰهِدُ لِنَفۡسِهِۦۤۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَغَنِیٌّ عَنِ ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ ۝٦

Whoever strives hard struggles for the benefit of his own self. Indeed, Allâh is Self-sufficient, above (need of His) creatures.

waman jāhada fa-innamā yujāhidu linafsihi inna l-laha laghaniyyun ʿani l-ʿālamīn

وَٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ لَنُكَفِّرَنَّ عَنۡهُمۡ سَیِّءَاتِهِمۡ وَلَنَجۡزِیَنَّهُمۡ أَحۡسَنَ ٱلَّذِی كَانُوا۟ یَعۡمَلُونَ ۝٧

Those who adhere to Islamic monotheism and do righteous acts ( in this ‘worldly life’), We will definitely deliver them for the consequences of all their sins, and award them according to the best of that which they used to do.

wa-alladhīna āmanū waʿamilū l-ṣāliḥāti lanukaffiranna ʿanhum sayyiātihim walanajziyannahum aḥsana alladhī kānū yaʿmalūn

وَوَصَّیۡنَا ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنَ بِوَ ٰلِدَیۡهِ حُسۡنࣰاۖ وَإِن جَـٰهَدَاكَ لِتُشۡرِكَ بِی مَا لَیۡسَ لَكَ بِهِۦ عِلۡمࣱ فَلَا تُطِعۡهُمَاۤۚ إِلَیَّ مَرۡجِعُكُمۡ فَأُنَبِّئُكُم بِمَا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡمَلُونَ ۝٨

We have enjoined on man to be kind and dutiful to his own parents. However, if it happens that they try to oblige you to associate with Me that whereof you have no knowledge, then do not obey them. Unto Me is your return, and I shall inform you of what you used to do.

wawaṣṣaynā l-insāna biwālidayhi ḥus'nan wa-in jāhadāka litush'rika bī mā laysa laka bihi ʿil'mun falā tuṭiʿ'humā ilayya marjiʿukum fa-unabbi-ukum bimā kuntum taʿmalūn

وَٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ لَنُدۡخِلَنَّهُمۡ فِی ٱلصَّـٰلِحِینَ ۝٩

Those who adhere to Islamic monotheism and do righteous acts (in this ‘worldly life’), We will definitely admit them into the (company) of the righteous.

wa-alladhīna āmanū waʿamilū l-ṣāliḥāti lanud'khilannahum fī l-ṣāliḥīn

وَمِنَ ٱلنَّاسِ مَن یَقُولُ ءَامَنَّا بِٱللَّهِ فَإِذَاۤ أُوذِیَ فِی ٱللَّهِ جَعَلَ فِتۡنَةَ ٱلنَّاسِ كَعَذَابِ ٱللَّهِۖ وَلَىِٕن جَاۤءَ نَصۡرࣱ مِّن رَّبِّكَ لَیَقُولُنَّ إِنَّا كُنَّا مَعَكُمۡۚ أَوَ لَیۡسَ ٱللَّهُ بِأَعۡلَمَ بِمَا فِی صُدُورِ ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ ۝١٠

Among the people are some who say, "We believe in Allâh," but if it happens that one of them suffered religious persecution because of his Faith in Allâh, he would consider the persecution which done by the people as (equal as) the tribulation of Allâh. If it happens that victory comes from your Lord, (the Hypocrites) will say, "Indeed, We were with you.” Is not Allâh most knowing of what is within the hearts of all creatures.

wamina l-nāsi man yaqūlu āmannā bil-lahi fa-idhā ūdhiya fī l-lahi jaʿala fit'nata l-nāsi kaʿadhābi l-lahi wala-in jāa naṣrun min rabbika layaqūlunna innā kunnā maʿakum awalaysa l-lahu bi-aʿlama bimā fī ṣudūri l-ʿālamīn

وَلَیَعۡلَمَنَّ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَلَیَعۡلَمَنَّ ٱلۡمُنَـٰفِقِینَ ۝١١

Indeed, Allâh knows the Monotheistic Believers, and indeed, He knows (also) the Hypocrites.

walayaʿlamanna l-lahu alladhīna āmanū walayaʿlamanna l-munāfiqīn

وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوا۟ لِلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ٱتَّبِعُوا۟ سَبِیلَنَا وَلۡنَحۡمِلۡ خَطَـٰیَـٰكُمۡ وَمَا هُم بِحَـٰمِلِینَ مِنۡ خَطَـٰیَـٰهُم مِّن شَیۡءٍۖ إِنَّهُمۡ لَكَـٰذِبُونَ ۝١٢

Those who excessively indulge in disbelief (in Allâh) say unto those who adhere to Islamic monotheism: "Follow our way (i.e. our creed) and will definitely bear your sins.” They cannot bear aught of their sins. Indeed, they are veritable liars.

waqāla alladhīna kafarū lilladhīna āmanū ittabiʿū sabīlanā walnaḥmil khaṭāyākum wamā hum biḥāmilīna min khaṭāyāhum min shayin innahum lakādhibūn

وَلَیَحۡمِلُنَّ أَثۡقَالَهُمۡ وَأَثۡقَالࣰا مَّعَ أَثۡقَالِهِمۡۖ وَلَیُسۡءَلُنَّ یَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِیَـٰمَةِ عَمَّا كَانُوا۟ یَفۡتَرُونَ ۝١٣

But they will definitely bear their own burdens and other burdens beside their own burdens. They will definitely be questioned on the ‘Day of Resurrection’ regarding what they used to mythologize.

walayaḥmilunna athqālahum wa-athqālan maʿa athqālihim walayus'alunna yawma l-qiyāmati ʿammā kānū yaftarūn

2 Noah and Abraham

وَلَقَدۡ أَرۡسَلۡنَا نُوحًا إِلَىٰ قَوۡمِهِۦ فَلَبِثَ فِیهِمۡ أَلۡفَ سَنَةٍ إِلَّا خَمۡسِینَ عَامࣰا فَأَخَذَهُمُ ٱلطُّوفَانُ وَهُمۡ ظَـٰلِمُونَ ۝١٤

Verily, We sent ‘Noah’ (as Our messenger) to his own people, and he tarried among them a thousand years, less fifty. Subsequently, the severe flood seized them while they were grossly unfair and morally wrong.

walaqad arsalnā nūḥan ilā qawmihi falabitha fīhim alfa sanatin illā khamsīna ʿāman fa-akhadhahumu l-ṭūfānu wahum ẓālimūn

فَأَنجَیۡنَـٰهُ وَأَصۡحَـٰبَ ٱلسَّفِینَةِ وَجَعَلۡنَـٰهَاۤ ءَایَةࣰ لِّلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ ۝١٥

Thus, We saved him as well as the companions of the vessel. We made the ‘Deluge’ a lesson for all the worlds.

fa-anjaynāhu wa-aṣḥāba l-safīnati wajaʿalnāhā āyatan lil'ʿālamīn

وَإِبۡرَ ٰهِیمَ إِذۡ قَالَ لِقَوۡمِهِ ٱعۡبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَٱتَّقُوهُۖ ذَ ٰلِكُمۡ خَیۡرࣱ لَّكُمۡ إِن كُنتُمۡ تَعۡلَمُونَ ۝١٦

(Mention) ‘Abraham’ when he said unto his people, “Worship (& venerate) Allâh (Alone), and act piously towards him, that is better for you if you did but know.

wa-ib'rāhīma idh qāla liqawmihi uʿ'budū l-laha wa-ittaqūhu dhālikum khayrun lakum in kuntum taʿlamūn

إِنَّمَا تَعۡبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ أَوۡثَـٰنࣰا وَتَخۡلُقُونَ إِفۡكًاۚ إِنَّ ٱلَّذِینَ تَعۡبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ لَا یَمۡلِكُونَ لَكُمۡ رِزۡقࣰا فَٱبۡتَغُوا۟ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرِّزۡقَ وَٱعۡبُدُوهُ وَٱشۡكُرُوا۟ لَهُۥۤۖ إِلَیۡهِ تُرۡجَعُونَ ۝١٧

You only (venerate &) worship (senseless) idols besides of Allâh. And you create an (intelligible) mendacity. Indeed, those whom you worship (& venerate) besides Allâh have no power to give you sustenance. Thus, seek your sustenance from Allâh, worship (& venerate him alone), and show your gratitude to Him. Eventually, you are all bound to return unto Him.

innamā taʿbudūna min dūni l-lahi awthānan watakhluqūna if'kan inna alladhīna taʿbudūna min dūni l-lahi lā yamlikūna lakum riz'qan fa-ib'taghū ʿinda l-lahi l-riz'qa wa-uʿ'budūhu wa-ush'kurū lahu ilayhi tur'jaʿūn

وَإِن تُكَذِّبُوا۟ فَقَدۡ كَذَّبَ أُمَمࣱ مِّن قَبۡلِكُمۡۖ وَمَا عَلَى ٱلرَّسُولِ إِلَّا ٱلۡبَلَـٰغُ ٱلۡمُبِینُ ۝١٨

But if it happens that you (choose to) deny, then generations before you have also (chosen to) to deny. The responsibility of the messenger is only to preach (& to convey) the message distinctly.

wa-in tukadhibū faqad kadhaba umamun min qablikum wamā ʿalā l-rasūli illā l-balāghu l-mubīn

أَوَ لَمۡ یَرَوۡا۟ كَیۡفَ یُبۡدِئُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡخَلۡقَ ثُمَّ یُعِیدُهُۥۤۚ إِنَّ ذَ ٰلِكَ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ یَسِیرࣱ ۝١٩

Have they not considered how Allâh originates the creation, and then repeats it? Indeed, that is extremely easy for Allâh (to do).

awalam yaraw kayfa yub'di-u l-lahu l-khalqa thumma yuʿīduhu inna dhālika ʿalā l-lahi yasīru

قُلۡ سِیرُوا۟ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ فَٱنظُرُوا۟ كَیۡفَ بَدَأَ ٱلۡخَلۡقَۚ ثُمَّ ٱللَّهُ یُنشِئُ ٱلنَّشۡأَةَ ٱلۡءَاخِرَةَۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَیۡءࣲ قَدِیرࣱ ۝٢٠

Say, (O’ Muhammad), "Travel through the land and observe how Allâh originated the creation, and then He creates the latter creation. Indeed, Allâh is capable of doing whatever He wills.

qul sīrū fī l-arḍi fa-unẓurū kayfa bada-a l-khalqa thumma l-lahu yunshi-u l-nashata l-ākhirata inna l-laha ʿalā kulli shayin qadīru

یُعَذِّبُ مَن یَشَاۤءُ وَیَرۡحَمُ مَن یَشَاۤءُۖ وَإِلَیۡهِ تُقۡلَبُونَ ۝٢١

He chastises whom He wills, and shows mercy to whom He wills. Eventually, you are all bound to return unto Him.

yuʿadhibu man yashāu wayarḥamu man yashāu wa-ilayhi tuq'labūn

وَمَاۤ أَنتُم بِمُعۡجِزِینَ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَلَا فِی ٱلسَّمَاۤءِۖ وَمَا لَكُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ مِن وَلِیࣲّ وَلَا نَصِیرࣲ ۝٢٢

You are incapable of frustrating (the power of Allâh) either on the earth or in the heaven. Other than Allâh, you have no guardian or helper.

wamā antum bimuʿ'jizīna fī l-arḍi walā fī l-samāi wamā lakum min dūni l-lahi min waliyyin walā naṣīri

3 Abraham and Lot

وَٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوا۟ بِءَایَـٰتِ ٱللَّهِ وَلِقَاۤىِٕهِۦۤ أُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ یَىِٕسُوا۟ مِن رَّحۡمَتِی وَأُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ لَهُمۡ عَذَابٌ أَلِیمࣱ ۝٢٣

Those who refuse to acknowledge the truth of His Revelations and the truth about the meeting with Him, such have no hope of My clemency. For such there is a painful punishment.

wa-alladhīna kafarū biāyāti l-lahi waliqāihi ulāika ya-isū min raḥmatī wa-ulāika lahum ʿadhābun alīmu

فَمَا كَانَ جَوَابَ قَوۡمِهِۦۤ إِلَّاۤ أَن قَالُوا۟ ٱقۡتُلُوهُ أَوۡ حَرِّقُوهُ فَأَنجَىٰهُ ٱللَّهُ مِنَ ٱلنَّارِۚ إِنَّ فِی ذَ ٰلِكَ لَءَایَـٰتࣲ لِّقَوۡمࣲ یُؤۡمِنُونَ ۝٢٤

The answer of the people of ‘Abraham’ was not except that they said: "Kill him or burn him." Thus, Allâh saved him from the fire. Verily, in this are Signs ( of Allâh's power & glory) for people who accept Allâh ( into their life).

famā kāna jawāba qawmihi illā an qālū uq'tulūhu aw ḥarriqūhu fa-anjāhu l-lahu mina l-nāri inna fī dhālika laāyātin liqawmin yu'minūn

وَقَالَ إِنَّمَا ٱتَّخَذۡتُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ أَوۡثَـٰنࣰا مَّوَدَّةَ بَیۡنِكُمۡ فِی ٱلۡحَیَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنۡیَاۖ ثُمَّ یَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِیَـٰمَةِ یَكۡفُرُ بَعۡضُكُم بِبَعۡضࣲ وَیَلۡعَنُ بَعۡضُكُم بَعۡضࣰا وَمَأۡوَىٰكُمُ ٱلنَّارُ وَمَا لَكُم مِّن نَّـٰصِرِینَ ۝٢٥

‘Abraham’ said, "You have taken (for worship) idols instead of Allâh. And the cordiality between you (and those idols) is only in this ‘worldly life’. But on the ‘Day of Resurrection’, you will disown and curse each other. Eventually, your abode will be the inferno, and you will have no helper."

waqāla innamā ittakhadhtum min dūni l-lahi awthānan mawaddata baynikum fī l-ḥayati l-dun'yā thumma yawma l-qiyāmati yakfuru baʿḍukum bibaʿḍin wayalʿanu baʿḍukum baʿḍan wamawākumu l-nāru wamā lakum min nāṣirīn

۞ فَءَامَنَ لَهُۥ لُوطࣱۘ وَقَالَ إِنِّی مُهَاجِرٌ إِلَىٰ رَبِّیۤۖ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلۡعَزِیزُ ٱلۡحَكِیمُ ۝٢٦

Consequently, Lot had faith in him. Lo! He said, “I am going to emigrate for the sake of my Lord. Indeed, He is the All- Mighty, the All-Wise."

faāmana lahu lūṭun waqāla innī muhājirun ilā rabbī innahu huwa l-ʿazīzu l-ḥakīm

وَوَهَبۡنَا لَهُۥۤ إِسۡحَـٰقَ وَیَعۡقُوبَ وَجَعَلۡنَا فِی ذُرِّیَّتِهِ ٱلنُّبُوَّةَ وَٱلۡكِتَـٰبَ وَءَاتَیۡنَـٰهُ أَجۡرَهُۥ فِی ٱلدُّنۡیَاۖ وَإِنَّهُۥ فِی ٱلۡءَاخِرَةِ لَمِنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِینَ ۝٢٧

We granted him ‘Isaac’ and ‘Jacob’, and placed in his offspring Prophethood and ‘Scripture’. We granted him his reward in this ‘worldly life’, and in the ‘Hereafter’, he will definitely be among the righteous.

wawahabnā lahu is'ḥāqa wayaʿqūba wajaʿalnā fī dhurriyyatihi l-nubuwata wal-kitāba waātaynāhu ajrahu fī l-dun'yā wa-innahu fī l-ākhirati lamina l-ṣāliḥīn

وَلُوطًا إِذۡ قَالَ لِقَوۡمِهِۦۤ إِنَّكُمۡ لَتَأۡتُونَ ٱلۡفَـٰحِشَةَ مَا سَبَقَكُم بِهَا مِنۡ أَحَدࣲ مِّنَ ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ ۝٢٨

Remember ‘Lot’, when he said to his people, "You commit such obscenity which no one has preceded you in committing it in all the worlds.

walūṭan idh qāla liqawmihi innakum latatūna l-fāḥishata mā sabaqakum bihā min aḥadin mina l-ʿālamīn

أَىِٕنَّكُمۡ لَتَأۡتُونَ ٱلرِّجَالَ وَتَقۡطَعُونَ ٱلسَّبِیلَ وَتَأۡتُونَ فِی نَادِیكُمُ ٱلۡمُنكَرَۖ فَمَا كَانَ جَوَابَ قَوۡمِهِۦۤ إِلَّاۤ أَن قَالُوا۟ ٱئۡتِنَا بِعَذَابِ ٱللَّهِ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰدِقِینَ ۝٢٩

Indeed, you commit sodomy with men, make sudden attack on the caravans and do (all sorts of) abominations in your assemblies.” And the answer of his people was not except that they said, “Bring on us the retribution of Allâh if you are of the truthful."

a-innakum latatūna l-rijāla wataqṭaʿūna l-sabīla watatūna fī nādīkumu l-munkara famā kāna jawāba qawmihi illā an qālū i'tinā biʿadhābi l-lahi in kunta mina l-ṣādiqīn

قَالَ رَبِّ ٱنصُرۡنِی عَلَى ٱلۡقَوۡمِ ٱلۡمُفۡسِدِینَ ۝٣٠

He said: "My Lord, help me to be victorious over the people who excessively indulge in corruption.”

qāla rabbi unṣur'nī ʿalā l-qawmi l-muf'sidīn

4 Opposition to Truth ever a Failure

وَلَمَّا جَاۤءَتۡ رُسُلُنَاۤ إِبۡرَ ٰهِیمَ بِٱلۡبُشۡرَىٰ قَالُوۤا۟ إِنَّا مُهۡلِكُوۤا۟ أَهۡلِ هَـٰذِهِ ٱلۡقَرۡیَةِۖ إِنَّ أَهۡلَهَا كَانُوا۟ ظَـٰلِمِینَ ۝٣١

When Our Messengers came to ‘Abraham’ with the joyful news, they said: “We are going to destroy the people of this township (Sodom) because its inhabitants are grossly unfair and morally wrong.”

walammā jāat rusulunā ib'rāhīma bil-bush'rā qālū innā muh'likū ahli hādhihi l-qaryati inna ahlahā kānū ẓālimīn

قَالَ إِنَّ فِیهَا لُوطࣰاۚ قَالُوا۟ نَحۡنُ أَعۡلَمُ بِمَن فِیهَاۖ لَنُنَجِّیَنَّهُۥ وَأَهۡلَهُۥۤ إِلَّا ٱمۡرَأَتَهُۥ كَانَتۡ مِنَ ٱلۡغَـٰبِرِینَ ۝٣٢

He said: "But ‘Lot’ is there." They said, “We know very well who is there. We will definitely save him and his family, except his wife. She is going to be with the ones who remain behind!"

qāla inna fīhā lūṭan qālū naḥnu aʿlamu biman fīhā lanunajjiyannahu wa-ahlahu illā im'ra-atahu kānat mina l-ghābirīn

وَلَمَّاۤ أَن جَاۤءَتۡ رُسُلُنَا لُوطࣰا سِیۤءَ بِهِمۡ وَضَاقَ بِهِمۡ ذَرۡعࣰاۖ وَقَالُوا۟ لَا تَخَفۡ وَلَا تَحۡزَنۡ إِنَّا مُنَجُّوكَ وَأَهۡلَكَ إِلَّا ٱمۡرَأَتَكَ كَانَتۡ مِنَ ٱلۡغَـٰبِرِینَ ۝٣٣

When our messengers came to ‘Lot’, he became troubled on their account because he was helpless to save them. They said: “Have no fear and let your worries be released. We will save you and your family, except your wife, who is going to be one of those who remain behind.

walammā an jāat rusulunā lūṭan sīa bihim waḍāqa bihim dharʿan waqālū lā takhaf walā taḥzan innā munajjūka wa-ahlaka illā im'ra-ataka kānat mina l-ghābirīn

إِنَّا مُنزِلُونَ عَلَىٰۤ أَهۡلِ هَـٰذِهِ ٱلۡقَرۡیَةِ رِجۡزࣰا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَاۤءِ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ یَفۡسُقُونَ ۝٣٤

Indeed, We are going to bring down upon the people of this township an extremely dreadful torment from the sky as a result of what they used to debauch.”

innā munzilūna ʿalā ahli hādhihi l-qaryati rij'zan mina l-samāi bimā kānū yafsuqūn

وَلَقَد تَّرَكۡنَا مِنۡهَاۤ ءَایَةَۢ بَیِّنَةࣰ لِّقَوۡمࣲ یَعۡقِلُونَ ۝٣٥

Certainly We have left thereof a conspicuous sign (of Our Power & Glory) for a people who are capable of perceiving the intended meaning of (His Signs).

walaqad taraknā min'hā āyatan bayyinatan liqawmin yaʿqilūn

وَإِلَىٰ مَدۡیَنَ أَخَاهُمۡ شُعَیۡبࣰا فَقَالَ یَـٰقَوۡمِ ٱعۡبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَٱرۡجُوا۟ ٱلۡیَوۡمَ ٱلۡءَاخِرَ وَلَا تَعۡثَوۡا۟ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ مُفۡسِدِینَ ۝٣٦

And, We sent, to Midian, their brother Shu‘ayb (as Our Messenger) . He said, He said, "O my people, worship (& venerate) Allâh (Alone), look forward to (the reward of) the ‘Last Day’, and do not spread corruption.”

wa-ilā madyana akhāhum shuʿayban faqāla yāqawmi uʿ'budū l-laha wa-ir'jū l-yawma l-ākhira walā taʿthaw fī l-arḍi muf'sidīn

فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَأَخَذَتۡهُمُ ٱلرَّجۡفَةُ فَأَصۡبَحُوا۟ فِی دَارِهِمۡ جَـٰثِمِینَ ۝٣٧

However, they refused to believe him. Thus, the devastating earthquake sized them, and they became motionless bodies at their homes.

fakadhabūhu fa-akhadhathumu l-rajfatu fa-aṣbaḥū fī dārihim jāthimīn

وَعَادࣰا وَثَمُودَا۟ وَقَد تَّبَیَّنَ لَكُم مِّن مَّسَـٰكِنِهِمۡۖ وَزَیَّنَ لَهُمُ ٱلشَّیۡطَـٰنُ أَعۡمَـٰلَهُمۡ فَصَدَّهُمۡ عَنِ ٱلسَّبِیلِ وَكَانُوا۟ مُسۡتَبۡصِرِینَ ۝٣٨

(We chastised the people of) 'Aad’ and ‘Thamūd’ (and brought them into ruin). Verily (their destruction) is very clearly perceptible to you through their ruined dwellings. ‘Satan’ beautified their evil deeds in their eyes. Thus, he was able to preclude them from heading into the right direction although they were endowed with high level of enlightenment.

waʿādan wathamūdā waqad tabayyana lakum min masākinihim wazayyana lahumu l-shayṭānu aʿmālahum faṣaddahum ʿani l-sabīli wakānū mus'tabṣirīn

وَقَـٰرُونَ وَفِرۡعَوۡنَ وَهَـٰمَـٰنَۖ وَلَقَدۡ جَاۤءَهُم مُّوسَىٰ بِٱلۡبَیِّنَـٰتِ فَٱسۡتَكۡبَرُوا۟ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ سَـٰبِقِینَ ۝٣٩

(We chastised also) ‘Korah’, ‘Pharaoh’ and Hāmān (and brought them into ruin)!. Absolutely, ‘Moses' came to them with intelligible and conclusive proofs. Instead of (believing him) , they acted arrogantly in the land. They were incapable of preceding Us.

waqārūna wafir'ʿawna wahāmāna walaqad jāahum mūsā bil-bayināti fa-is'takbarū fī l-arḍi wamā kānū sābiqīn

فَكُلًّا أَخَذۡنَا بِذَنۢبِهِۦۖ فَمِنۡهُم مَّنۡ أَرۡسَلۡنَا عَلَیۡهِ حَاصِبࣰا وَمِنۡهُم مَّنۡ أَخَذَتۡهُ ٱلصَّیۡحَةُ وَمِنۡهُم مَّنۡ خَسَفۡنَا بِهِ ٱلۡأَرۡضَ وَمِنۡهُم مَّنۡ أَغۡرَقۡنَاۚ وَمَا كَانَ ٱللَّهُ لِیَظۡلِمَهُمۡ وَلَـٰكِن كَانُوۤا۟ أَنفُسَهُمۡ یَظۡلِمُونَ ۝٤٠

So each one We chastised for his sin. Of them were some on whom We sent a violent hailstorm, of them were some who were seized by the dreadful cry, of them were some whom We caused the earth to swallow and of them were some whom We drowned. It was not Allâh who intended to wrong them, but they wronged themselves.

fakullan akhadhnā bidhanbihi famin'hum man arsalnā ʿalayhi ḥāṣiban wamin'hum man akhadhathu l-ṣayḥatu wamin'hum man khasafnā bihi l-arḍa wamin'hum man aghraqnā wamā kāna l-lahu liyaẓlimahum walākin kānū anfusahum yaẓlimūn

مَثَلُ ٱلَّذِینَ ٱتَّخَذُوا۟ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ أَوۡلِیَاۤءَ كَمَثَلِ ٱلۡعَنكَبُوتِ ٱتَّخَذَتۡ بَیۡتࣰاۖ وَإِنَّ أَوۡهَنَ ٱلۡبُیُوتِ لَبَیۡتُ ٱلۡعَنكَبُوتِۚ لَوۡ كَانُوا۟ یَعۡلَمُونَ ۝٤١

The parable of those who seek to take guardians other than Allâh is as the parable of the spider that takes to itself a house. Indeed, the frailest of houses is the house of the spider; if they but knew.

mathalu alladhīna ittakhadhū min dūni l-lahi awliyāa kamathali l-ʿankabūti ittakhadhat baytan wa-inna awhana l-buyūti labaytu l-ʿankabūti law kānū yaʿlamūn

إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ یَعۡلَمُ مَا یَدۡعُونَ مِن دُونِهِۦ مِن شَیۡءࣲۚ وَهُوَ ٱلۡعَزِیزُ ٱلۡحَكِیمُ ۝٤٢

Absolutely, Allâh knows what they implore and pray besides Him. He is the All-Mighty, the All- Wise.

inna l-laha yaʿlamu mā yadʿūna min dūnihi min shayin wahuwa l-ʿazīzu l-ḥakīm

وَتِلۡكَ ٱلۡأَمۡثَـٰلُ نَضۡرِبُهَا لِلنَّاسِۖ وَمَا یَعۡقِلُهَاۤ إِلَّا ٱلۡعَـٰلِمُونَ ۝٤٣

These parables, We set them forth for the people, none will be able to perceive the intended meaning of them except for those who have spiritual gift of knowledge.

watil'ka l-amthālu naḍribuhā lilnnāsi wamā yaʿqiluhā illā l-ʿālimūn

خَلَقَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ بِٱلۡحَقِّۚ إِنَّ فِی ذَ ٰلِكَ لَءَایَةࣰ لِّلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ ۝٤٤

Allâh created the heavens and the earth with truth. Surely there is a sign (of Allâh’s power and glory) in this for those whose Faith is placed in Allâh.

khalaqa l-lahu l-samāwāti wal-arḍa bil-ḥaqi inna fī dhālika laāyatan lil'mu'minīn

5 Qur'an is a Purifier

ٱتۡلُ مَاۤ أُوحِیَ إِلَیۡكَ مِنَ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبِ وَأَقِمِ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَۖ إِنَّ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ تَنۡهَىٰ عَنِ ٱلۡفَحۡشَاۤءِ وَٱلۡمُنكَرِۗ وَلَذِكۡرُ ٱللَّهِ أَكۡبَرُۗ وَٱللَّهُ یَعۡلَمُ مَا تَصۡنَعُونَ ۝٤٥

(O’ ‘Muhammad’), recite what has been revealed unto you of the ‘Book’ and establish the regular Prayer, indeed, prayer prohibits (all sorts of) debauchery and abomination, but verily celebrating the praises of Allâh in gratefulness is more (beneficial for the people). Therefore, (be sure that) Allâh knows what you do.

ut'lu mā ūḥiya ilayka mina l-kitābi wa-aqimi l-ṣalata inna l-ṣalata tanhā ʿani l-faḥshāi wal-munkari waladhik'ru l-lahi akbaru wal-lahu yaʿlamu mā taṣnaʿūn

۞ وَلَا تُجَـٰدِلُوۤا۟ أَهۡلَ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبِ إِلَّا بِٱلَّتِی هِیَ أَحۡسَنُ إِلَّا ٱلَّذِینَ ظَلَمُوا۟ مِنۡهُمۡۖ وَقُولُوۤا۟ ءَامَنَّا بِٱلَّذِیۤ أُنزِلَ إِلَیۡنَا وَأُنزِلَ إِلَیۡكُمۡ وَإِلَـٰهُنَا وَإِلَـٰهُكُمۡ وَ ٰحِدࣱ وَنَحۡنُ لَهُۥ مُسۡلِمُونَ ۝٤٦

Argue not with the ‘People of the Scripture’ (Jews & Christians) except in the best manner of (arguing), except for the ones who are grossly unfair and morally wrong , and say (unto them): “We do believe in that which has been revealed unto us as well as in that which has been revealed unto you. Our God and your God is One. We decided to submit ( ourselves entirely to His authority).”

walā tujādilū ahla l-kitābi illā bi-allatī hiya aḥsanu illā alladhīna ẓalamū min'hum waqūlū āmannā bi-alladhī unzila ilaynā wa-unzila ilaykum wa-ilāhunā wa-ilāhukum wāḥidun wanaḥnu lahu mus'limūn

وَكَذَ ٰلِكَ أَنزَلۡنَاۤ إِلَیۡكَ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبَۚ فَٱلَّذِینَ ءَاتَیۡنَـٰهُمُ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبَ یُؤۡمِنُونَ بِهِۦۖ وَمِنۡ هَـٰۤؤُلَاۤءِ مَن یُؤۡمِنُ بِهِۦۚ وَمَا یَجۡحَدُ بِءَایَـٰتِنَاۤ إِلَّا ٱلۡكَـٰفِرُونَ ۝٤٧

Thus, have We revealed unto you the ‘Book’, (the 'Qur’ān'). Those whom We gave the ‘Scripture’ (the ‘Torah’ & ‘Gospel’ aforetime) do believe in, and of these, there are those who believe in It. No one refuses to acknowledge (the divine origin of) Our Revelations except for those who lack Faith (in Allâh).

wakadhālika anzalnā ilayka l-kitāba fa-alladhīna ātaynāhumu l-kitāba yu'minūna bihi wamin hāulāi man yu'minu bihi wamā yajḥadu biāyātinā illā l-kāfirūn

وَمَا كُنتَ تَتۡلُوا۟ مِن قَبۡلِهِۦ مِن كِتَـٰبࣲ وَلَا تَخُطُّهُۥ بِیَمِینِكَۖ إِذࣰا لَّٱرۡتَابَ ٱلۡمُبۡطِلُونَ ۝٤٨

You did not read any book before It (this 'Qur’ān'), neither did you write any book with your own right hand; otherwise, the gainsayers have instilled doubt.

wamā kunta tatlū min qablihi min kitābin walā takhuṭṭuhu biyamīnika idhan la-ir'tāba l-mub'ṭilūn

بَلۡ هُوَ ءَایَـٰتُۢ بَیِّنَـٰتࣱ فِی صُدُورِ ٱلَّذِینَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلۡعِلۡمَۚ وَمَا یَجۡحَدُ بِءَایَـٰتِنَاۤ إِلَّا ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ ۝٤٩

Nay, they are the cognizable ‘Verses’ in the hearts of those who have spiritual gift of knowledge. No one refuses to acknowledge (the divine origin of) Our ‘Verses’ except for those who are grossly unfair and morally wrong .

bal huwa āyātun bayyinātun fī ṣudūri alladhīna ūtū l-ʿil'ma wamā yajḥadu biāyātinā illā l-ẓālimūn

وَقَالُوا۟ لَوۡلَاۤ أُنزِلَ عَلَیۡهِ ءَایَـٰتࣱ مِّن رَّبِّهِۦۚ قُلۡ إِنَّمَا ٱلۡءَایَـٰتُ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ وَإِنَّمَاۤ أَنَا۠ نَذِیرࣱ مُّبِینٌ ۝٥٠

They say, "Why are not signs sent down to him from his Lord?" Say, "All the signs do come only from Allâh, and I am not more than a perspicuous warner (whose responsibility is to give warning)."

waqālū lawlā unzila ʿalayhi āyātun min rabbihi qul innamā l-āyātu ʿinda l-lahi wa-innamā anā nadhīrun mubīnu

أَوَ لَمۡ یَكۡفِهِمۡ أَنَّاۤ أَنزَلۡنَا عَلَیۡكَ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبَ یُتۡلَىٰ عَلَیۡهِمۡۚ إِنَّ فِی ذَ ٰلِكَ لَرَحۡمَةࣰ وَذِكۡرَىٰ لِقَوۡمࣲ یُؤۡمِنُونَ ۝٥١

Is it not sufficient for them that We have revealed unto you the ‘Book’, (the 'Qur’ān'). which is recited to them? Surely, there is a (divine) clemency in this and an admonition for a people who profess belief (in Allâh).

awalam yakfihim annā anzalnā ʿalayka l-kitāba yut'lā ʿalayhim inna fī dhālika laraḥmatan wadhik'rā liqawmin yu'minūn

6 Warning and Consolation

قُلۡ كَفَىٰ بِٱللَّهِ بَیۡنِی وَبَیۡنَكُمۡ شَهِیدࣰاۖ یَعۡلَمُ مَا فِی ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۗ وَٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ بِٱلۡبَـٰطِلِ وَكَفَرُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ أُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ هُمُ ٱلۡخَـٰسِرُونَ ۝٥٢

Say (unto them, O’ Muhammad), "Sufficient is Allâh for a witness between you and me. He knows whatever is in the heavens and on the earth." And they believe in falsehood, and refuse to accept Allâh (into their life). It is they who are doomed to eternal perdition.

qul kafā bil-lahi baynī wabaynakum shahīdan yaʿlamu mā fī l-samāwāti wal-arḍi wa-alladhīna āmanū bil-bāṭili wakafarū bil-lahi ulāika humu l-khāsirūn

وَیَسۡتَعۡجِلُونَكَ بِٱلۡعَذَابِ وَلَوۡلَاۤ أَجَلࣱ مُّسَمࣰّى لَّجَاۤءَهُمُ ٱلۡعَذَابُۚ وَلَیَأۡتِیَنَّهُم بَغۡتَةࣰ وَهُمۡ لَا یَشۡعُرُونَ ۝٥٣

They ask you to hasten on the (divine) retribution. Had it not been for a term appointed, the (divine) retribution would definitely have come to them. Surely, it will come upon them quickly and unexpectedly while they perceive not!

wayastaʿjilūnaka bil-ʿadhābi walawlā ajalun musamman lajāahumu l-ʿadhābu walayatiyannahum baghtatan wahum lā yashʿurūn

یَسۡتَعۡجِلُونَكَ بِٱلۡعَذَابِ وَإِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ لَمُحِیطَةُۢ بِٱلۡكَـٰفِرِینَ ۝٥٤

They ask you to hasten on the (divine) retribution. Indeed, ‘Gehenna’ will encompass those who are faithless.

yastaʿjilūnaka bil-ʿadhābi wa-inna jahannama lamuḥīṭatun bil-kāfirīn

یَوۡمَ یَغۡشَىٰهُمُ ٱلۡعَذَابُ مِن فَوۡقِهِمۡ وَمِن تَحۡتِ أَرۡجُلِهِمۡ وَیَقُولُ ذُوقُوا۟ مَا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡمَلُونَ ۝٥٥

On the ‘Day’ when the doom will enshroud them from above them, and from beneath their feet. It will be said (unto them): "Taste (the result of) what you used to do."

yawma yaghshāhumu l-ʿadhābu min fawqihim wamin taḥti arjulihim wayaqūlu dhūqū mā kuntum taʿmalūn

یَـٰعِبَادِیَ ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوۤا۟ إِنَّ أَرۡضِی وَ ٰسِعَةࣱ فَإِیَّـٰیَ فَٱعۡبُدُونِ ۝٥٦

O’ My (dutiful) servants who adhere to Islamic monotheism, Surely My earth is enormously spacious. Therefore, worship ( & venerate) Me (alone).

yāʿibādiya alladhīna āmanū inna arḍī wāsiʿatun fa-iyyāya fa-uʿ'budūn

كُلُّ نَفۡسࣲ ذَاۤىِٕقَةُ ٱلۡمَوۡتِۖ ثُمَّ إِلَیۡنَا تُرۡجَعُونَ ۝٥٧

Every ‘Human Self’ is bound to taste death. Eventually, you are all bound to return unto Us.

kullu nafsin dhāiqatu l-mawti thumma ilaynā tur'jaʿūn

وَٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ لَنُبَوِّئَنَّهُم مِّنَ ٱلۡجَنَّةِ غُرَفࣰا تَجۡرِی مِن تَحۡتِهَا ٱلۡأَنۡهَـٰرُ خَـٰلِدِینَ فِیهَاۚ نِعۡمَ أَجۡرُ ٱلۡعَـٰمِلِینَ ۝٥٨

Those who who adhere to Islamic monotheism and do righteous acts, We shall definitely give them an abode in high places in ‘Al-Jannah’, underneath which rivers flow, so as to live therein forever. Excellent is the wage of the (righteous) workers.

wa-alladhīna āmanū waʿamilū l-ṣāliḥāti lanubawwi-annahum mina l-janati ghurafan tajrī min taḥtihā l-anhāru khālidīna fīhā niʿ'ma ajru l-ʿāmilīn

ٱلَّذِینَ صَبَرُوا۟ وَعَلَىٰ رَبِّهِمۡ یَتَوَكَّلُونَ ۝٥٩

Those are the ones who persist in patience and constancy (in their struggle for serving the cause of Allâh) ; and they depended on their Lord with full trust.

alladhīna ṣabarū waʿalā rabbihim yatawakkalūn

وَكَأَیِّن مِّن دَاۤبَّةࣲ لَّا تَحۡمِلُ رِزۡقَهَا ٱللَّهُ یَرۡزُقُهَا وَإِیَّاكُمۡۚ وَهُوَ ٱلسَّمِیعُ ٱلۡعَلِیمُ ۝٦٠

How many a moving creature carries not its own sustenance! Allâh provides for it and for you. He is the All- Hearer, the All-Knowing.

waka-ayyin min dābbatin lā taḥmilu riz'qahā l-lahu yarzuquhā wa-iyyākum wahuwa l-samīʿu l-ʿalīm

وَلَىِٕن سَأَلۡتَهُم مَّنۡ خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ وَسَخَّرَ ٱلشَّمۡسَ وَٱلۡقَمَرَ لَیَقُولُنَّ ٱللَّهُۖ فَأَنَّىٰ یُؤۡفَكُونَ ۝٦١

If it happens that you ask them, "Who has created the heavens and earth , and subjected the sun and the moon?" They will definitely answer, "Allâh." So how they are deceived into going away from the established course?

wala-in sa-altahum man khalaqa l-samāwāti wal-arḍa wasakhara l-shamsa wal-qamara layaqūlunna l-lahu fa-annā yu'fakūn

ٱللَّهُ یَبۡسُطُ ٱلرِّزۡقَ لِمَن یَشَاۤءُ مِنۡ عِبَادِهِۦ وَیَقۡدِرُ لَهُۥۤۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ بِكُلِّ شَیۡءٍ عَلِیمࣱ ۝٦٢

Allâh spreads out his subsistence for whom He wills of His servants, and straitens it for whom (He wills). Indeed, Allâh is the All-Knowing of all things.

al-lahu yabsuṭu l-riz'qa liman yashāu min ʿibādihi wayaqdiru lahu inna l-laha bikulli shayin ʿalīmu

وَلَىِٕن سَأَلۡتَهُم مَّن نَّزَّلَ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَاۤءِ مَاۤءࣰ فَأَحۡیَا بِهِ ٱلۡأَرۡضَ مِنۢ بَعۡدِ مَوۡتِهَا لَیَقُولُنَّ ٱللَّهُۚ قُلِ ٱلۡحَمۡدُ لِلَّهِۚ بَلۡ أَكۡثَرُهُمۡ لَا یَعۡقِلُونَ ۝٦٣

If it happens that you ask them, "Who causes water to descend from the sky and resuscitates a land after its death by it? “They will definitely answer, "Allâh." Say, "All the praises and gratitude belong to Allâh!" Nay! Most of them do not possess self- awareness that allows them to understand.

wala-in sa-altahum man nazzala mina l-samāi māan fa-aḥyā bihi l-arḍa min baʿdi mawtihā layaqūlunna l-lahu quli l-ḥamdu lillahi bal aktharuhum lā yaʿqilūn

7 Triumph of the Faithful

وَمَا هَـٰذِهِ ٱلۡحَیَوٰةُ ٱلدُّنۡیَاۤ إِلَّا لَهۡوࣱ وَلَعِبࣱۚ وَإِنَّ ٱلدَّارَ ٱلۡءَاخِرَةَ لَهِیَ ٱلۡحَیَوَانُۘ لَوۡ كَانُوا۟ یَعۡلَمُونَ ۝٦٤

This ‘worldly life’ is not more than entertainment and activity engaged in for recreation. Verily, the home of the ‘Hereafter’ is the genuine life, if only they knew it.

wamā hādhihi l-ḥayatu l-dun'yā illā lahwun walaʿibun wa-inna l-dāra l-ākhirata lahiya l-ḥayawānu law kānū yaʿlamūn

فَإِذَا رَكِبُوا۟ فِی ٱلۡفُلۡكِ دَعَوُا۟ ٱللَّهَ مُخۡلِصِینَ لَهُ ٱلدِّینَ فَلَمَّا نَجَّىٰهُمۡ إِلَى ٱلۡبَرِّ إِذَا هُمۡ یُشۡرِكُونَ ۝٦٥

When they embark on a vessel, they implore and pray to Allâh, devoting their faith permanently to Him only. But when He brings them safely to land, behold, they associate others (with Him).

fa-idhā rakibū fī l-ful'ki daʿawū l-laha mukh'liṣīna lahu l-dīna falammā najjāhum ilā l-bari idhā hum yush'rikūn

لِیَكۡفُرُوا۟ بِمَاۤ ءَاتَیۡنَـٰهُمۡ وَلِیَتَمَتَّعُوا۟ۚ فَسَوۡفَ یَعۡلَمُونَ ۝٦٦

Let them be impious for what We have given them, and let them enjoy themselves (for a while). But they will come to know (the dreadful outcome of their actions).

liyakfurū bimā ātaynāhum waliyatamattaʿū fasawfa yaʿlamūn

أَوَ لَمۡ یَرَوۡا۟ أَنَّا جَعَلۡنَا حَرَمًا ءَامِنࣰا وَیُتَخَطَّفُ ٱلنَّاسُ مِنۡ حَوۡلِهِمۡۚ أَفَبِٱلۡبَـٰطِلِ یُؤۡمِنُونَ وَبِنِعۡمَةِ ٱللَّهِ یَكۡفُرُونَ ۝٦٧

Have they not seen that We made (Mecca) a safe sanctuary while people are being quickly seized away from all around them? Then do they believe in falsehood , and give no credence to the grace of Allâh.

awalam yaraw annā jaʿalnā ḥaraman āminan wayutakhaṭṭafu l-nāsu min ḥawlihim afabil-bāṭili yu'minūna wabiniʿ'mati l-lahi yakfurūn

وَمَنۡ أَظۡلَمُ مِمَّنِ ٱفۡتَرَىٰ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ كَذِبًا أَوۡ كَذَّبَ بِٱلۡحَقِّ لَمَّا جَاۤءَهُۥۤۚ أَلَیۡسَ فِی جَهَنَّمَ مَثۡوࣰى لِّلۡكَـٰفِرِینَ ۝٦٨

Who is more grossly unfair and morally wrong than the one who contrives a lie against Allâh or stubbornly refuse to acknowledge the truth when it comes to him (clearly)? Is there not a dwelling in ‘Gehenna’ for those who are tempted to disbelieve in Allah.

waman aẓlamu mimmani if'tarā ʿalā l-lahi kadhiban aw kadhaba bil-ḥaqi lammā jāahu alaysa fī jahannama mathwan lil'kāfirīn

وَٱلَّذِینَ جَـٰهَدُوا۟ فِینَا لَنَهۡدِیَنَّهُمۡ سُبُلَنَاۚ وَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَمَعَ ٱلۡمُحۡسِنِینَ ۝٦٩

Those who strive hard for Us, We shall definitely guide them into Our ways. Allâh is surely with those whose heart is perfect towards Allâh.

wa-alladhīna jāhadū fīnā lanahdiyannahum subulanā wa-inna l-laha lamaʿa l-muḥ'sinīn
