1 Islam will be established

الۤمۤ ۝١

Alif. La’am. Mi’em!

تَنزِیلُ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبِ لَا رَیۡبَ فِیهِ مِن رَّبِّ ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ ۝٢

This is the Revelation of the ‘Book’ in which there is no doubt that is from the Lord of the Worlds.

tanzīlu l-kitābi lā rayba fīhi min rabbi l-ʿālamīn

أَمۡ یَقُولُونَ ٱفۡتَرَىٰهُۚ بَلۡ هُوَ ٱلۡحَقُّ مِن رَّبِّكَ لِتُنذِرَ قَوۡمࣰا مَّاۤ أَتَىٰهُم مِّن نَّذِیرࣲ مِّن قَبۡلِكَ لَعَلَّهُمۡ یَهۡتَدُونَ ۝٣

Or do they say: “He has mythologized it?” Nay, it is the Truth from your Lord so that you may be able to warn a people who never received a warner before you, and that they may attain spiritual insight.

am yaqūlūna if'tarāhu bal huwa l-ḥaqu min rabbika litundhira qawman mā atāhum min nadhīrin min qablika laʿallahum yahtadūn

ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِی خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ وَمَا بَیۡنَهُمَا فِی سِتَّةِ أَیَّامࣲ ثُمَّ ٱسۡتَوَىٰ عَلَى ٱلۡعَرۡشِۖ مَا لَكُم مِّن دُونِهِۦ مِن وَلِیࣲّ وَلَا شَفِیعٍۚ أَفَلَا تَتَذَكَّرُونَ ۝٤

It is Allâh Who created the heaven and earth and what is between them in six days. Then ascended He the (Glorious) Throne of (Power & Glory). You have none beside Him as a guardian or as an intercessor. Will you not then celebrate the praise of your Lord and declare His divine glory?

al-lahu alladhī khalaqa l-samāwāti wal-arḍa wamā baynahumā fī sittati ayyāmin thumma is'tawā ʿalā l-ʿarshi mā lakum min dūnihi min waliyyin walā shafīʿin afalā tatadhakkarūn

یُدَبِّرُ ٱلۡأَمۡرَ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَاۤءِ إِلَى ٱلۡأَرۡضِ ثُمَّ یَعۡرُجُ إِلَیۡهِ فِی یَوۡمࣲ كَانَ مِقۡدَارُهُۥۤ أَلۡفَ سَنَةࣲ مِّمَّا تَعُدُّونَ ۝٥

He orchestrates the ordinance from the heaven to the earth; then it will ascend to Him in a day, equivalent a thousand years of your reckoning.

yudabbiru l-amra mina l-samāi ilā l-arḍi thumma yaʿruju ilayhi fī yawmin kāna miq'dāruhu alfa sanatin mimmā taʿuddūn

ذَ ٰلِكَ عَـٰلِمُ ٱلۡغَیۡبِ وَٱلشَّهَـٰدَةِ ٱلۡعَزِیزُ ٱلرَّحِیمُ ۝٦

That is He, the All- Knowing of the invisible and the visible, the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful,

dhālika ʿālimu l-ghaybi wal-shahādati l-ʿazīzu l-raḥīm

ٱلَّذِیۤ أَحۡسَنَ كُلَّ شَیۡءٍ خَلَقَهُۥۖ وَبَدَأَ خَلۡقَ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنِ مِن طِینࣲ ۝٧

Who perfected everything which He created, and He began the creation of man from clay.

alladhī aḥsana kulla shayin khalaqahu wabada-a khalqa l-insāni min ṭīni

ثُمَّ جَعَلَ نَسۡلَهُۥ مِن سُلَـٰلَةࣲ مِّن مَّاۤءࣲ مَّهِینࣲ ۝٨

Then He made his progeny of an extraction of despicable fluid.

thumma jaʿala naslahu min sulālatin min māin mahīni

ثُمَّ سَوَّىٰهُ وَنَفَخَ فِیهِ مِن رُّوحِهِۦۖ وَجَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلسَّمۡعَ وَٱلۡأَبۡصَـٰرَ وَٱلۡأَفۡءِدَةَۚ قَلِیلࣰا مَّا تَشۡكُرُونَ ۝٩

Then He fashioned him and breathed into him of His Spirit. He gave you hearing, sight and hearts. Little is that you show gratitude to Him.

thumma sawwāhu wanafakha fīhi min rūḥihi wajaʿala lakumu l-samʿa wal-abṣāra wal-afidata qalīlan mā tashkurūn

وَقَالُوۤا۟ أَءِذَا ضَلَلۡنَا فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ أَءِنَّا لَفِی خَلۡقࣲ جَدِیدِۭۚ بَلۡ هُم بِلِقَاۤءِ رَبِّهِمۡ كَـٰفِرُونَ ۝١٠

And they say: " What! When we are completely lost into the earth, shall we truly be in a new creation?” Nay, the meeting with their Lord, they deny.

waqālū a-idhā ḍalalnā fī l-arḍi a-innā lafī khalqin jadīdin bal hum biliqāi rabbihim kāfirūn

۞ قُلۡ یَتَوَفَّىٰكُم مَّلَكُ ٱلۡمَوۡتِ ٱلَّذِی وُكِّلَ بِكُمۡ ثُمَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكُمۡ تُرۡجَعُونَ ۝١١

Say: “The Angel of death, who is assigned to you, will cause you to die, then you will be returned unto your Lord .”

qul yatawaffākum malaku l-mawti alladhī wukkila bikum thumma ilā rabbikum tur'jaʿūn

2 Believers and Disbelievers compared

وَلَوۡ تَرَىٰۤ إِذِ ٱلۡمُجۡرِمُونَ نَاكِسُوا۟ رُءُوسِهِمۡ عِندَ رَبِّهِمۡ رَبَّنَاۤ أَبۡصَرۡنَا وَسَمِعۡنَا فَٱرۡجِعۡنَا نَعۡمَلۡ صَـٰلِحًا إِنَّا مُوقِنُونَ ۝١٢

If you could but see when the ungodly sinners bend down their heads before their Lord, saying: “Our Lord, we have seen and heard. Thus, send us back (to the ‘worldly life’ and be sure) we will do righteous acts. Definitely, We are (now) certain.”

walaw tarā idhi l-muj'rimūna nākisū ruūsihim ʿinda rabbihim rabbanā abṣarnā wasamiʿ'nā fa-ir'jiʿ'nā naʿmal ṣāliḥan innā mūqinūn

وَلَوۡ شِئۡنَا لَءَاتَیۡنَا كُلَّ نَفۡسٍ هُدَىٰهَا وَلَـٰكِنۡ حَقَّ ٱلۡقَوۡلُ مِنِّی لَأَمۡلَأَنَّ جَهَنَّمَ مِنَ ٱلۡجِنَّةِ وَٱلنَّاسِ أَجۡمَعِینَ ۝١٣

If We had willed, We could have given every ‘Human Self’ its spiritual insight, but the word from Me will come true: "I will definitely fill ‘Gehenna’ with the jinn and men all together."

walaw shi'nā laātaynā kulla nafsin hudāhā walākin ḥaqqa l-qawlu minnī la-amla-anna jahannama mina l-jinati wal-nāsi ajmaʿīn

فَذُوقُوا۟ بِمَا نَسِیتُمۡ لِقَاۤءَ یَوۡمِكُمۡ هَـٰذَاۤ إِنَّا نَسِینَـٰكُمۡۖ وَذُوقُوا۟ عَذَابَ ٱلۡخُلۡدِ بِمَا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡمَلُونَ ۝١٤

Thus, taste the consequences of forgetting this day of yours. Indeed, (It will be said unto them): “We too will forget you, so savor the eternal chastisement for what you used to do.”

fadhūqū bimā nasītum liqāa yawmikum hādhā innā nasīnākum wadhūqū ʿadhāba l-khul'di bimā kuntum taʿmalūn

إِنَّمَا یُؤۡمِنُ بِءَایَـٰتِنَا ٱلَّذِینَ إِذَا ذُكِّرُوا۟ بِهَا خَ̅رُّ̅و̅ا۟̅ ̅سُ̅جَّ̅دࣰ̅ا̅ وَسَبَّحُوا۟ بِحَمۡدِ رَبِّهِمۡ وَهُمۡ لَا یَسۡتَكۡبِرُونَ ۝١٥ ۩

The only ones who truly believe in Our ‘Revelations’ are those who when they are reminded of them, fall down prostrate and glorify their Lord with His praise, not not showing an arrogant attitude.

innamā yu'minu biāyātinā alladhīna idhā dhukkirū bihā kharrū sujjadan wasabbaḥū biḥamdi rabbihim wahum lā yastakbirūn

تَتَجَافَىٰ جُنُوبُهُمۡ عَنِ ٱلۡمَضَاجِعِ یَدۡعُونَ رَبَّهُمۡ خَوۡفࣰا وَطَمَعࣰا وَمِمَّا رَزَقۡنَـٰهُمۡ یُنفِقُونَ ۝١٦

They abandon (their) beds, imploring and praying to their Lord, in veneration and hope. And they expend of what We have bestowed on them.

tatajāfā junūbuhum ʿani l-maḍājiʿi yadʿūna rabbahum khawfan waṭamaʿan wamimmā razaqnāhum yunfiqūn

فَلَا تَعۡلَمُ نَفۡسࣱ مَّاۤ أُخۡفِیَ لَهُم مِّن قُرَّةِ أَعۡیُنࣲ جَزَاۤءَۢ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ یَعۡمَلُونَ ۝١٧

No “Human Self” would ever know what is kept hidden of delight for them as a recompense for what they used to do.

falā taʿlamu nafsun mā ukh'fiya lahum min qurrati aʿyunin jazāan bimā kānū yaʿmalūn

أَفَمَن كَانَ مُؤۡمِنࣰا كَمَن كَانَ فَاسِقࣰاۚ لَّا یَسۡتَوُۥنَ ۝١٨

Is then the man who professes a belief (in Allâh) no better than the man who walks in the path of disobedience? Not equal are they.

afaman kāna mu'minan kaman kāna fāsiqan lā yastawūn

أَمَّا ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ فَلَهُمۡ جَنَّـٰتُ ٱلۡمَأۡوَىٰ نُزُلَۢا بِمَا كَانُوا۟ یَعۡمَلُونَ ۝١٩

But as for those who a adhere firmly to Islamic monotheism and do righteous acts (openly or secretly in this ‘worldly life’), there will be Gardens of refuge, in hospitality for what they used to do.

ammā alladhīna āmanū waʿamilū l-ṣāliḥāti falahum jannātu l-mawā nuzulan bimā kānū yaʿmalūn

وَأَمَّا ٱلَّذِینَ فَسَقُوا۟ فَمَأۡوَىٰهُمُ ٱلنَّارُۖ كُلَّمَاۤ أَرَادُوۤا۟ أَن یَخۡرُجُوا۟ مِنۡهَاۤ أُعِیدُوا۟ فِیهَا وَقِیلَ لَهُمۡ ذُوقُوا۟ عَذَابَ ٱلنَّارِ ٱلَّذِی كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ ۝٢٠

As to those who walk in the path of disobedience, their abode will be the Fire. Whenever they try to move out of it, they are brought back into it, and it is said unto them: “Taste the chastisement of the Fire, which you used to deny."

wa-ammā alladhīna fasaqū famawāhumu l-nāru kullamā arādū an yakhrujū min'hā uʿīdū fīhā waqīla lahum dhūqū ʿadhāba l-nāri alladhī kuntum bihi tukadhibūn

وَلَنُذِیقَنَّهُم مِّنَ ٱلۡعَذَابِ ٱلۡأَدۡنَىٰ دُونَ ٱلۡعَذَابِ ٱلۡأَكۡبَرِ لَعَلَّهُمۡ یَرۡجِعُونَ ۝٢١

Definitely, We let them taste of the nearer chastisement (in this ‘worldly life’) before the greater chastisement (in the ‘Hereafter’) so that they may (quit their perversion) and return (to the upright faith).

walanudhīqannahum mina l-ʿadhābi l-adnā dūna l-ʿadhābi l-akbari laʿallahum yarjiʿūn

وَمَنۡ أَظۡلَمُ مِمَّن ذُكِّرَ بِءَایَـٰتِ رَبِّهِۦ ثُمَّ أَعۡرَضَ عَنۡهَاۤۚ إِنَّا مِنَ ٱلۡمُجۡرِمِینَ مُنتَقِمُونَ ۝٢٢

Who is more grossly unfair than the one who is reminded of the ‘Revelations’ of his Lord, then turns away from them? Indeed, We will impose a penalty on the ungodly sinners.

waman aẓlamu mimman dhukkira biāyāti rabbihi thumma aʿraḍa ʿanhā innā mina l-muj'rimīna muntaqimūn

3 Dead Earth will receive life

وَلَقَدۡ ءَاتَیۡنَا مُوسَى ٱلۡكِتَـٰبَ فَلَا تَكُن فِی مِرۡیَةࣲ مِّن لِّقَاۤىِٕهِۦۖ وَجَعَلۡنَـٰهُ هُدࣰى لِّبَنِیۤ إِسۡرَ ٰۤءِیلَ ۝٢٣

Verily, We gave ‘Moses’ the ‘Scripture’, (the ‘Torah’), and so do not be, (O’ Muhammad), in doubt concerning the encounter with with ‘Moses’ (during the Miraculous Night Journey). We made it a source of spiritual insight and a clemency for the ‘Children of Israel’.

walaqad ātaynā mūsā l-kitāba falā takun fī mir'yatin min liqāihi wajaʿalnāhu hudan libanī is'rāīl

وَجَعَلۡنَا مِنۡهُمۡ أَىِٕمَّةࣰ یَهۡدُونَ بِأَمۡرِنَا لَمَّا صَبَرُوا۟ۖ وَكَانُوا۟ بِءَایَـٰتِنَا یُوقِنُونَ ۝٢٤

We made among them spiritual leaders to give insight by Our Command when they had endured patiently and continued to have conviction in Our ‘Revelations’.

wajaʿalnā min'hum a-immatan yahdūna bi-amrinā lammā ṣabarū wakānū biāyātinā yūqinūn

إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ یَفۡصِلُ بَیۡنَهُمۡ یَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِیَـٰمَةِ فِیمَا كَانُوا۟ فِیهِ یَخۡتَلِفُونَ ۝٢٥

Indeed, Your Lord is the One Who will judge between them on the day of ‘Resurrection’ concerning that wherein they used to differ.

inna rabbaka huwa yafṣilu baynahum yawma l-qiyāmati fīmā kānū fīhi yakhtalifūn

أَوَ لَمۡ یَهۡدِ لَهُمۡ كَمۡ أَهۡلَكۡنَا مِن قَبۡلِهِم مِّنَ ٱلۡقُرُونِ یَمۡشُونَ فِی مَسَـٰكِنِهِمۡۚ إِنَّ فِی ذَ ٰلِكَ لَءَایَـٰتٍۚ أَفَلَا یَسۡمَعُونَ ۝٢٦

Has it not become obvious to them how many generations We annihilated before them in whose dwelling-places they walk? Surely in that are signs. Will they not then heed?

awalam yahdi lahum kam ahlaknā min qablihim mina l-qurūni yamshūna fī masākinihim inna fī dhālika laāyātin afalā yasmaʿūn

أَوَ لَمۡ یَرَوۡا۟ أَنَّا نَسُوقُ ٱلۡمَاۤءَ إِلَى ٱلۡأَرۡضِ ٱلۡجُرُزِ فَنُخۡرِجُ بِهِۦ زَرۡعࣰا تَأۡكُلُ مِنۡهُ أَنۡعَـٰمُهُمۡ وَأَنفُسُهُمۡۚ أَفَلَا یُبۡصِرُونَ ۝٢٧

Have they not seen how We drive water to the barren land without any vegetation, and therewith bring forth crops from which their livestock eat and themselves? Will they not then see?

awalam yaraw annā nasūqu l-māa ilā l-arḍi l-juruzi fanukh'riju bihi zarʿan takulu min'hu anʿāmuhum wa-anfusuhum afalā yub'ṣirūn

وَیَقُولُونَ مَتَىٰ هَـٰذَا ٱلۡفَتۡحُ إِن كُنتُمۡ صَـٰدِقِینَ ۝٢٨

They say: "When will be his decisive Judgement, if you are truthful?"

wayaqūlūna matā hādhā l-fatḥu in kuntum ṣādiqīn

قُلۡ یَوۡمَ ٱلۡفَتۡحِ لَا یَنفَعُ ٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوۤا۟ إِیمَـٰنُهُمۡ وَلَا هُمۡ یُنظَرُونَ ۝٢٩

Say: “On the day of this Judgement, the faith of those who refuse to accept (Allâh into their life) will not avail them, nor will they be given a respite."

qul yawma l-fatḥi lā yanfaʿu alladhīna kafarū īmānuhum walā hum yunẓarūn

فَأَعۡرِضۡ عَنۡهُمۡ وَٱنتَظِرۡ إِنَّهُم مُّنتَظِرُونَ ۝٣٠

Therefore, turn away from them, and wait. Definitely, they are also waiting.

fa-aʿriḍ ʿanhum wa-intaẓir innahum muntaẓirūn
