Do they say: 'He has invented it?' It is indeed the truth from your Lord, so that you may warn a community to whom no warner has come before you, and that they may be guided.

am yaqūlūna if'tarāhu bal huwa l-ḥaqu min rabbika litundhira qawman mā atāhum min nadhīrin min qablika laʿallahum yahtadūn

32:4

ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِی خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ وَمَا بَیۡنَهُمَا فِی سِتَّةِ أَیَّامࣲ ثُمَّ ٱسۡتَوَىٰ عَلَى ٱلۡعَرۡشِۖ مَا لَكُم مِّن دُونِهِۦ مِن وَلِیࣲّ وَلَا شَفِیعٍۚ أَفَلَا تَتَذَكَّرُونَ ۝٤

Sayyid Qutb (transcription in progress)

God it is who created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them in six days, and established Himself on the Throne. You have none to protect you from God, and none to intercede with Him for you. Will you not, then, reflect?

al-lahu alladhī khalaqa l-samāwāti wal-arḍa wamā baynahumā fī sittati ayyāmin thumma is'tawā ʿalā l-ʿarshi mā lakum min dūnihi min waliyyin walā shafīʿin afalā tatadhakkarūn

32:5

یُدَبِّرُ ٱلۡأَمۡرَ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَاۤءِ إِلَى ٱلۡأَرۡضِ ثُمَّ یَعۡرُجُ إِلَیۡهِ فِی یَوۡمࣲ كَانَ مِقۡدَارُهُۥۤ أَلۡفَ سَنَةࣲ مِّمَّا تَعُدُّونَ ۝٥

Sayyid Qutb (transcription in progress)

He regulates and governs all that exists, from the celestial space to the earth; and in the end all shall ascend to Him [for judgement] on a day the length of which is one thousand years by your reckoning.

yudabbiru l-amra mina l-samāi ilā l-arḍi thumma yaʿruju ilayhi fī yawmin kāna miq'dāruhu alfa sanatin mimmā taʿuddūn

32:6

ذَ ٰلِكَ عَـٰلِمُ ٱلۡغَیۡبِ وَٱلشَّهَـٰدَةِ ٱلۡعَزِیزُ ٱلرَّحِیمُ ۝٦

Such is He who knows all that is beyond the reach of human perception, and all that can be witnessed, the Almighty, the Most Merciful,

dhālika ʿālimu l-ghaybi wal-shahādati l-ʿazīzu l-raḥīm

32:7

ٱلَّذِیۤ أَحۡسَنَ كُلَّ شَیۡءٍ خَلَقَهُۥۖ وَبَدَأَ خَلۡقَ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنِ مِن طِینࣲ ۝٧

Sayyid Qutb (transcription in progress)

who makes most excellent everything that He creates. He begins the creation of man out of clay;

alladhī aḥsana kulla shayin khalaqahu wabada-a khalqa l-insāni min ṭīni

32:8

ثُمَّ جَعَلَ نَسۡلَهُۥ مِن سُلَـٰلَةࣲ مِّن مَّاۤءࣲ مَّهِینࣲ ۝٨

then He causes his progeny to be begotten out of the essence of a humble fluid;

thumma jaʿala naslahu min sulālatin min māin mahīni

32:9

ثُمَّ سَوَّىٰهُ وَنَفَخَ فِیهِ مِن رُّوحِهِۦۖ وَجَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلسَّمۡعَ وَٱلۡأَبۡصَـٰرَ وَٱلۡأَفۡءِدَةَۚ قَلِیلࣰا مَّا تَشۡكُرُونَ ۝٩

Sayyid Qutb (transcription in progress)

then He fashions him and breathes into him of His spirit. Thus He endows you, mankind, with hearing and sight and hearts. Yet seldom are you grateful!

thumma sawwāhu wanafakha fīhi min rūḥihi wajaʿala lakumu l-samʿa wal-abṣāra wal-afidata qalīlan mā tashkurūn

32:10

وَقَالُوۤا۟ أَءِذَا ضَلَلۡنَا فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ أَءِنَّا لَفِی خَلۡقࣲ جَدِیدِۭۚ بَلۡ هُم بِلِقَاۤءِ رَبِّهِمۡ كَـٰفِرُونَ ۝١٠

Sayyid Qutb (transcription in progress)

They say: 'What! After we have vanished into the earth, shall we be [restored to life] in a new act of creation?' Nay, they indeed deny that they will be meeting their Lord.

waqālū a-idhā ḍalalnā fī l-arḍi a-innā lafī khalqin jadīdin bal hum biliqāi rabbihim kāfirūn

32:11

۞ قُلۡ یَتَوَفَّىٰكُم مَّلَكُ ٱلۡمَوۡتِ ٱلَّذِی وُكِّلَ بِكُمۡ ثُمَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكُمۡ تُرۡجَعُونَ ۝١١

Sayyid Qutb (transcription in progress)

Say: 'The angel of death who has been given charge of you will gather you, and then to your Lord you will be brought back.'

qul yatawaffākum malaku l-mawti alladhī wukkila bikum thumma ilā rabbikum tur'jaʿūn

32:12

وَلَوۡ تَرَىٰۤ إِذِ ٱلۡمُجۡرِمُونَ نَاكِسُوا۟ رُءُوسِهِمۡ عِندَ رَبِّهِمۡ رَبَّنَاۤ أَبۡصَرۡنَا وَسَمِعۡنَا فَٱرۡجِعۡنَا نَعۡمَلۡ صَـٰلِحًا إِنَّا مُوقِنُونَ ۝١٢

Sayyid Qutb (transcription in progress)

If you could but see when those evildoers will hang down their heads before their Lord and say: 'Our Lord! We have now seen and we have heard. Return us [to our earthly life] and we will do good deeds. We are now firm believers.'

walaw tarā idhi l-muj'rimūna nākisū ruūsihim ʿinda rabbihim rabbanā abṣarnā wasamiʿ'nā fa-ir'jiʿ'nā naʿmal ṣāliḥan innā mūqinūn

32:13

وَلَوۡ شِئۡنَا لَءَاتَیۡنَا كُلَّ نَفۡسٍ هُدَىٰهَا وَلَـٰكِنۡ حَقَّ ٱلۡقَوۡلُ مِنِّی لَأَمۡلَأَنَّ جَهَنَّمَ مِنَ ٱلۡجِنَّةِ وَٱلنَّاسِ أَجۡمَعِینَ ۝١٣

Sayyid Qutb (transcription in progress)

Had We so willed, We could indeed have imposed Our guidance on every human being. Instead, My word shall be fulfilled: 'Most certainly will I fill hell with jinn and humans all together.'

walaw shi'nā laātaynā kulla nafsin hudāhā walākin ḥaqqa l-qawlu minnī la-amla-anna jahannama mina l-jinati wal-nāsi ajmaʿīn

32:14

فَذُوقُوا۟ بِمَا نَسِیتُمۡ لِقَاۤءَ یَوۡمِكُمۡ هَـٰذَاۤ إِنَّا نَسِینَـٰكُمۡۖ وَذُوقُوا۟ عَذَابَ ٱلۡخُلۡدِ بِمَا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡمَلُونَ ۝١٤

Sayyid Qutb (transcription in progress)

'Taste this, for you [deliberately] forgot you would ever meet this day. We, too, will forget you; and taste this abiding suffering for all the evil you did.'

fadhūqū bimā nasītum liqāa yawmikum hādhā innā nasīnākum wadhūqū ʿadhāba l-khul'di bimā kuntum taʿmalūn

32:15

إِنَّمَا یُؤۡمِنُ بِءَایَـٰتِنَا ٱلَّذِینَ إِذَا ذُكِّرُوا۟ بِهَا خَ̅رُّ̅و̅ا۟̅ ̅سُ̅جَّ̅دࣰ̅ا̅ وَسَبَّحُوا۟ بِحَمۡدِ رَبِّهِمۡ وَهُمۡ لَا یَسۡتَكۡبِرُونَ ۝١٥ ۩

Only they believe in Our revelations who, whenever they are reminded of them, fall down prostrating themselves in adoration, and extol their Lord's limitless glory and praise; and who are never arrogant;

innamā yu'minu biāyātinā alladhīna idhā dhukkirū bihā kharrū sujjadan wasabbaḥū biḥamdi rabbihim wahum lā yastakbirūn

32:16

تَتَجَافَىٰ جُنُوبُهُمۡ عَنِ ٱلۡمَضَاجِعِ یَدۡعُونَ رَبَّهُمۡ خَوۡفࣰا وَطَمَعࣰا وَمِمَّا رَزَقۡنَـٰهُمۡ یُنفِقُونَ ۝١٦

Sayyid Qutb (transcription in progress)

who drag themselves out of their beds at night to pray to their Lord in fear and hope; and who are charitable with what We provide for them.

tatajāfā junūbuhum ʿani l-maḍājiʿi yadʿūna rabbahum khawfan waṭamaʿan wamimmā razaqnāhum yunfiqūn

32:17

فَلَا تَعۡلَمُ نَفۡسࣱ مَّاۤ أُخۡفِیَ لَهُم مِّن قُرَّةِ أَعۡیُنࣲ جَزَاۤءَۢ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ یَعۡمَلُونَ ۝١٧

No one can imagine what blissful delights have been kept in store for them as a reward for what they used to do.

falā taʿlamu nafsun mā ukh'fiya lahum min qurrati aʿyunin jazāan bimā kānū yaʿmalūn

32:18

أَفَمَن كَانَ مُؤۡمِنࣰا كَمَن كَانَ فَاسِقࣰاۚ لَّا یَسۡتَوُۥنَ ۝١٨

Is, then, the one who is a believer to be compared to one who is wicked? The two are certainly not equal.

afaman kāna mu'minan kaman kāna fāsiqan lā yastawūn

32:19

أَمَّا ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ فَلَهُمۡ جَنَّـٰتُ ٱلۡمَأۡوَىٰ نُزُلَۢا بِمَا كَانُوا۟ یَعۡمَلُونَ ۝١٩

Sayyid Qutb (transcription in progress)

Those who believe and do righteous deeds will have the gardens of repose for an abode in recompense for what they used to do;

ammā alladhīna āmanū waʿamilū l-ṣāliḥāti falahum jannātu l-mawā nuzulan bimā kānū yaʿmalūn

32:20

وَأَمَّا ٱلَّذِینَ فَسَقُوا۟ فَمَأۡوَىٰهُمُ ٱلنَّارُۖ كُلَّمَاۤ أَرَادُوۤا۟ أَن یَخۡرُجُوا۟ مِنۡهَاۤ أُعِیدُوا۟ فِیهَا وَقِیلَ لَهُمۡ ذُوقُوا۟ عَذَابَ ٱلنَّارِ ٱلَّذِی كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ ۝٢٠

Sayyid Qutb (transcription in progress)

whereas the wicked have the fire as their abode: whenever they try to come out of it, they will be thrown back in it, and they will be told, 'Taste this suffering through fire which you always thought to be a lie.'

wa-ammā alladhīna fasaqū famawāhumu l-nāru kullamā arādū an yakhrujū min'hā uʿīdū fīhā waqīla lahum dhūqū ʿadhāba l-nāri alladhī kuntum bihi tukadhibūn

32:21

وَلَنُذِیقَنَّهُم مِّنَ ٱلۡعَذَابِ ٱلۡأَدۡنَىٰ دُونَ ٱلۡعَذَابِ ٱلۡأَكۡبَرِ لَعَلَّهُمۡ یَرۡجِعُونَ ۝٢١

Sayyid Qutb (transcription in progress)

We will certainly let them taste a suffering closer at hand before they experience the greater suffering so that they might return [to the right faith].

walanudhīqannahum mina l-ʿadhābi l-adnā dūna l-ʿadhābi l-akbari laʿallahum yarjiʿūn

32:22

وَمَنۡ أَظۡلَمُ مِمَّن ذُكِّرَ بِءَایَـٰتِ رَبِّهِۦ ثُمَّ أَعۡرَضَ عَنۡهَاۤۚ إِنَّا مِنَ ٱلۡمُجۡرِمِینَ مُنتَقِمُونَ ۝٢٢

Sayyid Qutb (transcription in progress)

Who does a greater wrong than one who is reminded [of the truth] by his Lord's revelations but he, nevertheless, turns away from them? We shall certainly inflict Our retribution on the evildoers.

waman aẓlamu mimman dhukkira biāyāti rabbihi thumma aʿraḍa ʿanhā innā mina l-muj'rimīna muntaqimūn

32:23

وَلَقَدۡ ءَاتَیۡنَا مُوسَى ٱلۡكِتَـٰبَ فَلَا تَكُن فِی مِرۡیَةࣲ مِّن لِّقَاۤىِٕهِۦۖ وَجَعَلۡنَـٰهُ هُدࣰى لِّبَنِیۤ إِسۡرَ ٰۤءِیلَ ۝٢٣

Sayyid Qutb (transcription in progress)

We certainly gave the Book to Moses, so be not in doubt about convergence with it. We made of it guidance for the Children of Israel,

walaqad ātaynā mūsā l-kitāba falā takun fī mir'yatin min liqāihi wajaʿalnāhu hudan libanī is'rāīl

32:24

وَجَعَلۡنَا مِنۡهُمۡ أَىِٕمَّةࣰ یَهۡدُونَ بِأَمۡرِنَا لَمَّا صَبَرُوا۟ۖ وَكَانُوا۟ بِءَایَـٰتِنَا یُوقِنُونَ ۝٢٤

Sayyid Qutb (transcription in progress)

and We raised among them leaders who, so long as they remained steadfast and had sure faith in Our revelations, spread guidance in accordance with Our command.

wajaʿalnā min'hum a-immatan yahdūna bi-amrinā lammā ṣabarū wakānū biāyātinā yūqinūn

32:25

إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ یَفۡصِلُ بَیۡنَهُمۡ یَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِیَـٰمَةِ فِیمَا كَانُوا۟ فِیهِ یَخۡتَلِفُونَ ۝٢٥

Sayyid Qutb (transcription in progress)

Your Lord is certainly the One who will decide between people on the Day of Resurrection with regard to all that on which they differ.

inna rabbaka huwa yafṣilu baynahum yawma l-qiyāmati fīmā kānū fīhi yakhtalifūn

32:26

أَوَ لَمۡ یَهۡدِ لَهُمۡ كَمۡ أَهۡلَكۡنَا مِن قَبۡلِهِم مِّنَ ٱلۡقُرُونِ یَمۡشُونَ فِی مَسَـٰكِنِهِمۡۚ إِنَّ فِی ذَ ٰلِكَ لَءَایَـٰتٍۚ أَفَلَا یَسۡمَعُونَ ۝٢٦

Sayyid Qutb (transcription in progress)

Do they not reflect on how many a generation We have destroyed before their time, in whose dwelling places they now walk about? In this there are signs indeed: will they not listen?

awalam yahdi lahum kam ahlaknā min qablihim mina l-qurūni yamshūna fī masākinihim inna fī dhālika laāyātin afalā yasmaʿūn

32:27

أَوَ لَمۡ یَرَوۡا۟ أَنَّا نَسُوقُ ٱلۡمَاۤءَ إِلَى ٱلۡأَرۡضِ ٱلۡجُرُزِ فَنُخۡرِجُ بِهِۦ زَرۡعࣰا تَأۡكُلُ مِنۡهُ أَنۡعَـٰمُهُمۡ وَأَنفُسُهُمۡۚ أَفَلَا یُبۡصِرُونَ ۝٢٧

Sayyid Qutb (transcription in progress)

Are they not aware that it is We who drive water to dry land devoid of herbage, and with it We bring forth crops of which their cattle and they themselves eat? Can they not see?

awalam yaraw annā nasūqu l-māa ilā l-arḍi l-juruzi fanukh'riju bihi zarʿan takulu min'hu anʿāmuhum wa-anfusuhum afalā yub'ṣirūn

32:28

وَیَقُولُونَ مَتَىٰ هَـٰذَا ٱلۡفَتۡحُ إِن كُنتُمۡ صَـٰدِقِینَ ۝٢٨

Sayyid Qutb (transcription in progress)

They say: 'When will this judgement be, if you are telling the truth?'

wayaqūlūna matā hādhā l-fatḥu in kuntum ṣādiqīn

32:29

قُلۡ یَوۡمَ ٱلۡفَتۡحِ لَا یَنفَعُ ٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوۤا۟ إِیمَـٰنُهُمۡ وَلَا هُمۡ یُنظَرُونَ ۝٢٩

Sayyid Qutb (transcription in progress)

Say: 'On the day when judgement is made no benefit will it be to unbelievers if they then believe; nor will they be granted respite.'

qul yawma l-fatḥi lā yanfaʿu alladhīna kafarū īmānuhum walā hum yunẓarūn

32:30

فَأَعۡرِضۡ عَنۡهُمۡ وَٱنتَظِرۡ إِنَّهُم مُّنتَظِرُونَ ۝٣٠

Therefore, leave them alone, and wait. They are certainly waiting.

fa-aʿriḍ ʿanhum wa-intaẓir innahum muntaẓirūn
