1 Judgment is certain

ٱلۡحَمۡدُ لِلَّهِ ٱلَّذِی لَهُۥ مَا فِی ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَمَا فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَلَهُ ٱلۡحَمۡدُ فِی ٱلۡءَاخِرَةِۚ وَهُوَ ٱلۡحَكِیمُ ٱلۡخَبِیرُ ۝١

MunirMezyed2023

All praise is due to Allâh, Whose is whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever is on the earth. His is the praise in the Hereafter. And He is the All-Wise, the All-Aware.

al-ḥamdu lillahi alladhī lahu mā fī l-samāwāti wamā fī l-arḍi walahu l-ḥamdu fī l-ākhirati wahuwa l-ḥakīmu l-khabīr

یَعۡلَمُ مَا یَلِجُ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَمَا یَخۡرُجُ مِنۡهَا وَمَا یَنزِلُ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَاۤءِ وَمَا یَعۡرُجُ فِیهَاۚ وَهُوَ ٱلرَّحِیمُ ٱلۡغَفُورُ ۝٢

MunirMezyed2023

He has full knowledge of whatever goes down into the earth and whatever comes out of it, and whatever comes down from the sky and whatever ascends to it. He is the Most Merciful, the Oft-Forgiving.

yaʿlamu mā yaliju fī l-arḍi wamā yakhruju min'hā wamā yanzilu mina l-samāi wamā yaʿruju fīhā wahuwa l-raḥīmu l-ghafūr

وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوا۟ لَا تَأۡتِینَا ٱلسَّاعَةُۖ قُلۡ بَلَىٰ وَرَبِّی لَتَأۡتِیَنَّكُمۡ عَـٰلِمِ ٱلۡغَیۡبِۖ لَا یَعۡزُبُ عَنۡهُ مِثۡقَالُ ذَرَّةࣲ فِی ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَلَا فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَلَاۤ أَصۡغَرُ مِن ذَ ٰلِكَ وَلَاۤ أَكۡبَرُ إِلَّا فِی كِتَـٰبࣲ مُّبِینࣲ ۝٣

And those who have no tendency to Yield to the Truth say: “The Hour will never come to us. Say: By my Lord, yes, It is definitely coming to you. By Him Who has the full knowledge of (the world of) unseen not, even a weight of an atom in the heaven or on the earth would escape Him, neither is there less than that nor greater but all is in a Perfect Book.

waqāla alladhīna kafarū lā tatīnā l-sāʿatu qul balā warabbī latatiyannakum ʿālimi l-ghaybi lā yaʿzubu ʿanhu mith'qālu dharratin fī l-samāwāti walā fī l-arḍi walā aṣgharu min dhālika walā akbaru illā fī kitābin mubīni

لِّیَجۡزِیَ ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِۚ أُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ لَهُم مَّغۡفِرَةࣱ وَرِزۡقࣱ كَرِیمࣱ ۝٤

MunirMezyed2023

He will reward those who live by Faith and strive to do righteous acts. These are the ones who will receive Forgiveness and an abundant provision.

liyajziya alladhīna āmanū waʿamilū l-ṣāliḥāti ulāika lahum maghfiratun wariz'qun karīmu

وَٱلَّذِینَ سَعَوۡ فِیۤ ءَایَـٰتِنَا مُعَـٰجِزِینَ أُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ لَهُمۡ عَذَابࣱ مِّن رِّجۡزٍ أَلِیمࣱ ۝٥

But those who strive to refute What We have revealed of the Knowledge of the Truth are the ones who will be subjected to a severely painful punishment.

wa-alladhīna saʿaw fī āyātinā muʿājizīna ulāika lahum ʿadhābun min rij'zin alīmu

وَیَرَى ٱلَّذِینَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلۡعِلۡمَ ٱلَّذِیۤ أُنزِلَ إِلَیۡكَ مِن رَّبِّكَ هُوَ ٱلۡحَقَّ وَیَهۡدِیۤ إِلَىٰ صِرَ ٰطِ ٱلۡعَزِیزِ ٱلۡحَمِیدِ ۝٦

MunirMezyed2023

And those who have spiritual gift of knowledge will see that the Qur’ān that has been revealed to you from your Lord is the (Full Knowledge of) Truth, and that It leads to the path of the Almighty, the Praiseworthy.

wayarā alladhīna ūtū l-ʿil'ma alladhī unzila ilayka min rabbika huwa l-ḥaqa wayahdī ilā ṣirāṭi l-ʿazīzi l-ḥamīd

وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوا۟ هَلۡ نَدُلُّكُمۡ عَلَىٰ رَجُلࣲ یُنَبِّئُكُمۡ إِذَا مُزِّقۡتُمۡ كُلَّ مُمَزَّقٍ إِنَّكُمۡ لَفِی خَلۡقࣲ جَدِیدٍ ۝٧

Those who have no tendency to Yield to the Truth say: “Shall we show you a man who claims that when you have been utterly disintegrated to dust, you will be raised as a new creation?”

waqāla alladhīna kafarū hal nadullukum ʿalā rajulin yunabbi-ukum idhā muzziq'tum kulla mumazzaqin innakum lafī khalqin jadīdi

أَفۡتَرَىٰ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ كَذِبًا أَم بِهِۦ جِنَّةُۢۗ بَلِ ٱلَّذِینَ لَا یُؤۡمِنُونَ بِٱلۡءَاخِرَةِ فِی ٱلۡعَذَابِ وَٱلضَّلَـٰلِ ٱلۡبَعِیدِ ۝٨

MunirMezyed2023

Has he attributed falsehood to Allâh, or is he possessed?”. In fact, those who don’t acknowledge the existence of the Hereafter are doomed to punishment; and they have been deceived into going far away (from the truth).

aftarā ʿalā l-lahi kadhiban am bihi jinnatun bali alladhīna lā yu'minūna bil-ākhirati fī l-ʿadhābi wal-ḍalāli l-baʿīd

أَفَلَمۡ یَرَوۡا۟ إِلَىٰ مَا بَیۡنَ أَیۡدِیهِمۡ وَمَا خَلۡفَهُم مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَاۤءِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ إِن نَّشَأۡ نَخۡسِفۡ بِهِمُ ٱلۡأَرۡضَ أَوۡ نُسۡقِطۡ عَلَیۡهِمۡ كِسَفࣰا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَاۤءِۚ إِنَّ فِی ذَ ٰلِكَ لَءَایَةࣰ لِّكُلِّ عَبۡدࣲ مُّنِیبࣲ ۝٩

MunirMezyed2023

Have they not noticed what lies before them and what lies behind them of the sky and earth? If We will, We can make the earth to swallow them, or cause lumps from the sky to fall upon them. Most certainly there is a Sign for every penitent servant.

afalam yaraw ilā mā bayna aydīhim wamā khalfahum mina l-samāi wal-arḍi in nasha nakhsif bihimu l-arḍa aw nus'qiṭ ʿalayhim kisafan mina l-samāi inna fī dhālika laāyatan likulli ʿabdin munībi

2 Favours followed by Retribution

۞ وَلَقَدۡ ءَاتَیۡنَا دَاوُۥدَ مِنَّا فَضۡلࣰاۖ یَـٰجِبَالُ أَوِّبِی مَعَهُۥ وَٱلطَّیۡرَۖ وَأَلَنَّا لَهُ ٱلۡحَدِیدَ ۝١٠

And We certainly bestowed on David a grace from Us, (saying): “O’ mountains and you birds, sing hymns to Allâh”. And We caused the iron to be pliable for him,

walaqad ātaynā dāwūda minnā faḍlan yājibālu awwibī maʿahu wal-ṭayra wa-alannā lahu l-ḥadīd

أَنِ ٱعۡمَلۡ سَـٰبِغَـٰتࣲ وَقَدِّرۡ فِی ٱلسَّرۡدِۖ وَٱعۡمَلُوا۟ صَـٰلِحًاۖ إِنِّی بِمَا تَعۡمَلُونَ بَصِیرࣱ ۝١١

MunirMezyed2023

(Commanding him): “Make full-length coats of mail and measure their rings precisely and with attention. And strive to do righteousness, (you and your household). Indeed, I am All-Seer of whatever you do".

ani iʿ'mal sābighātin waqaddir fī l-sardi wa-iʿ'malū ṣāliḥan innī bimā taʿmalūna baṣīru

وَلِسُلَیۡمَـٰنَ ٱلرِّیحَ غُدُوُّهَا شَهۡرࣱ وَرَوَاحُهَا شَهۡرࣱۖ وَأَسَلۡنَا لَهُۥ عَیۡنَ ٱلۡقِطۡرِۖ وَمِنَ ٱلۡجِنِّ مَن یَعۡمَلُ بَیۡنَ یَدَیۡهِ بِإِذۡنِ رَبِّهِۦۖ وَمَن یَزِغۡ مِنۡهُمۡ عَنۡ أَمۡرِنَا نُذِقۡهُ مِنۡ عَذَابِ ٱلسَّعِیرِ ۝١٢

And to Solomon, (We made) the wind (subservient): Its morning course covered a distance of one month's journey, and its evening course one month's journey. We made a stream of molten brass to flow for him. Of the jinn, some worked before him by the command of his Lord. Whoever of them turned aside from Our command, We made him to taste of the chastisement of the Blazing Fire.

walisulaymāna l-rīḥa ghuduwwuhā shahrun warawāḥuhā shahrun wa-asalnā lahu ʿayna l-qiṭ'ri wamina l-jini man yaʿmalu bayna yadayhi bi-idh'ni rabbihi waman yazigh min'hum ʿan amrinā nudhiq'hu min ʿadhābi l-saʿīr

یَعۡمَلُونَ لَهُۥ مَا یَشَاۤءُ مِن مَّحَـٰرِیبَ وَتَمَـٰثِیلَ وَجِفَانࣲ كَٱلۡجَوَابِ وَقُدُورࣲ رَّاسِیَـٰتٍۚ ٱعۡمَلُوۤا۟ ءَالَ دَاوُۥدَ شُكۡرࣰاۚ وَقَلِیلࣱ مِّنۡ عِبَادِیَ ٱلشَّكُورُ ۝١٣

MunirMezyed2023

They made for him whatever he wished: Synagogues, statues, bowls like reservoirs and fixed cooking-pots. (And We Said): ‘Work, O', House of David, (faithfully) and show gratitude (to to Allâh)”. Yet very few of My servants are grateful.

yaʿmalūna lahu mā yashāu min maḥārība watamāthīla wajifānin kal-jawābi waqudūrin rāsiyātin iʿ'malū āla dāwūda shuk'ran waqalīlun min ʿibādiya l-shakūr

فَلَمَّا قَضَیۡنَا عَلَیۡهِ ٱلۡمَوۡتَ مَا دَلَّهُمۡ عَلَىٰ مَوۡتِهِۦۤ إِلَّا دَاۤبَّةُ ٱلۡأَرۡضِ تَأۡكُلُ مِنسَأَتَهُۥۖ فَلَمَّا خَرَّ تَبَیَّنَتِ ٱلۡجِنُّ أَن لَّوۡ كَانُوا۟ یَعۡلَمُونَ ٱلۡغَیۡبَ مَا لَبِثُوا۟ فِی ٱلۡعَذَابِ ٱلۡمُهِینِ ۝١٤

Then, when We decreed death for Solomon, nothing informed the jinn of his death except for a tiny worm of the earth that was (gradually) gnawing away at his staff. Consequently, when he fell down, it became obvious to them: Had they known the (secrets of) unseen, they would not have stayed in such a humiliating torment.

falammā qaḍaynā ʿalayhi l-mawta mā dallahum ʿalā mawtihi illā dābbatu l-arḍi takulu minsa-atahu falammā kharra tabayyanati l-jinu an law kānū yaʿlamūna l-ghayba mā labithū fī l-ʿadhābi l-muhīn

لَقَدۡ كَانَ لِسَبَإࣲ فِی مَسۡكَنِهِمۡ ءَایَةࣱۖ جَنَّتَانِ عَن یَمِینࣲ وَشِمَالࣲۖ كُلُوا۟ مِن رِّزۡقِ رَبِّكُمۡ وَٱشۡكُرُوا۟ لَهُۥۚ بَلۡدَةࣱ طَیِّبَةࣱ وَرَبٌّ غَفُورࣱ ۝١٥

Verily, there was an irrefutable Sign for (the people of) Sheba in their dwelling place: Two gardens on the right and the left. (They were told): “Eat of the sustenance of your Lord and express your gratitude to Him: Arable land and Oft-Forgiving Lord”.

laqad kāna lisaba-in fī maskanihim āyatun jannatāni ʿan yamīnin washimālin kulū min riz'qi rabbikum wa-ush'kurū lahu baldatun ṭayyibatun warabbun ghafūru

فَأَعۡرَضُوا۟ فَأَرۡسَلۡنَا عَلَیۡهِمۡ سَیۡلَ ٱلۡعَرِمِ وَبَدَّلۡنَـٰهُم بِجَنَّتَیۡهِمۡ جَنَّتَیۡنِ ذَوَاتَیۡ أُكُلٍ خَمۡطࣲ وَأَثۡلࣲ وَشَیۡءࣲ مِّن سِدۡرࣲ قَلِیلࣲ ۝١٦

MunirMezyed2023

But they turned aside, so We unleashed upon them a rushing torrent (that devastated their two gardens). And We gave them, in place of their gardens, two gardens yielding bitter fruit, tamarisks and something from scattered lote- trees.

fa-aʿraḍū fa-arsalnā ʿalayhim sayla l-ʿarimi wabaddalnāhum bijannatayhim jannatayni dhawātay ukulin khamṭin wa-athlin washayin min sid'rin qalīli

ذَ ٰلِكَ جَزَیۡنَـٰهُم بِمَا كَفَرُوا۟ۖ وَهَلۡ نُجَـٰزِیۤ إِلَّا ٱلۡكَفُورَ ۝١٧

This is how We chastised them for their ingratitude. Have We ever chastised anyone except the one who is ingrate?

dhālika jazaynāhum bimā kafarū wahal nujāzī illā l-kafūr

وَجَعَلۡنَا بَیۡنَهُمۡ وَبَیۡنَ ٱلۡقُرَى ٱلَّتِی بَـٰرَكۡنَا فِیهَا قُرࣰى ظَـٰهِرَةࣰ وَقَدَّرۡنَا فِیهَا ٱلسَّیۡرَۖ سِیرُوا۟ فِیهَا لَیَالِیَ وَأَیَّامًا ءَامِنِینَ ۝١٨

MunirMezyed2023

We placed between them and the towns which We had blessed, conspicuous villages, and We made the stage between them easy, (saying): "Travel in them safely both by night and day".

wajaʿalnā baynahum wabayna l-qurā allatī bāraknā fīhā quran ẓāhiratan waqaddarnā fīhā l-sayra sīrū fīhā layāliya wa-ayyāman āminīn

فَقَالُوا۟ رَبَّنَا بَـٰعِدۡ بَیۡنَ أَسۡفَارِنَا وَظَلَمُوۤا۟ أَنفُسَهُمۡ فَجَعَلۡنَـٰهُمۡ أَحَادِیثَ وَمَزَّقۡنَـٰهُمۡ كُلَّ مُمَزَّقٍۚ إِنَّ فِی ذَ ٰلِكَ لَءَایَـٰتࣲ لِّكُلِّ صَبَّارࣲ شَكُورࣲ ۝١٩

MunirMezyed2023

But they said: “Our Lord, make the stages between our journeys longer." They were unfair to their own selves (when voluntarily and consciously abandoned the Full Knowledge of the Truth in favour of their own whims), and so We made them as stories, and tore them completely into pieces. Most surely there are Signs in this for every forbearing, grateful.

faqālū rabbanā bāʿid bayna asfārinā waẓalamū anfusahum fajaʿalnāhum aḥādītha wamazzaqnāhum kulla mumazzaqin inna fī dhālika laāyātin likulli ṣabbārin shakūri

وَلَقَدۡ صَدَّقَ عَلَیۡهِمۡ إِبۡلِیسُ ظَنَّهُۥ فَٱتَّبَعُوهُ إِلَّا فَرِیقࣰا مِّنَ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ ۝٢٠

MunirMezyed2023

And verily Iblīs proved true his speculation about them. So they yielded to his temptation, except for a party of believers (of unfeigned faith).

walaqad ṣaddaqa ʿalayhim ib'līsu ẓannahu fa-ittabaʿūhu illā farīqan mina l-mu'minīn

وَمَا كَانَ لَهُۥ عَلَیۡهِم مِّن سُلۡطَـٰنٍ إِلَّا لِنَعۡلَمَ مَن یُؤۡمِنُ بِٱلۡءَاخِرَةِ مِمَّنۡ هُوَ مِنۡهَا فِی شَكࣲّۗ وَرَبُّكَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَیۡءٍ حَفِیظࣱ ۝٢١

MunirMezyed2023

Yet he had no authority over them, except that We would identify the one who acknowledged the existence of the Hereafter from the one who harbored doubts about it. And Your Lord is the Preserver of all things.

wamā kāna lahu ʿalayhim min sul'ṭānin illā linaʿlama man yu'minu bil-ākhirati mimman huwa min'hā fī shakkin warabbuka ʿalā kulli shayin ḥafīẓu

3 A Victory for Muslims

قُلِ ٱدۡعُوا۟ ٱلَّذِینَ زَعَمۡتُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ لَا یَمۡلِكُونَ مِثۡقَالَ ذَرَّةࣲ فِی ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَلَا فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَمَا لَهُمۡ فِیهِمَا مِن شِرۡكࣲ وَمَا لَهُۥ مِنۡهُم مِّن ظَهِیرࣲ ۝٢٢

MunirMezyed2023

Say: "Call upon those whom you have asserted, other than Allâh: They possess nothing, not even a weight of an atom either in the heavens or on the earth, nor do they have any share therein, nor does He receive any assistance from them”.

quli id'ʿū alladhīna zaʿamtum min dūni l-lahi lā yamlikūna mith'qāla dharratin fī l-samāwāti walā fī l-arḍi wamā lahum fīhimā min shir'kin wamā lahu min'hum min ẓahīri

وَلَا تَنفَعُ ٱلشَّفَـٰعَةُ عِندَهُۥۤ إِلَّا لِمَنۡ أَذِنَ لَهُۥۚ حَتَّىٰۤ إِذَا فُزِّعَ عَن قُلُوبِهِمۡ قَالُوا۟ مَاذَا قَالَ رَبُّكُمۡۖ قَالُوا۟ ٱلۡحَقَّۖ وَهُوَ ٱلۡعَلِیُّ ٱلۡكَبِیرُ ۝٢٣

Intercession avails nothing with Him (on the Day of Judgment), except that of those to whom He gives authorization. Consequently, when the apprehension (of Day of Reckoning) has departed their hearts, they will ask one another, "What is it that your Lord has just said?" "The Truth," they will answer. "For He is the All-High, the All-Great ".

walā tanfaʿu l-shafāʿatu ʿindahu illā liman adhina lahu ḥattā idhā fuzziʿa ʿan qulūbihim qālū mādhā qāla rabbukum qālū l-ḥaqa wahuwa l-ʿaliyu l-kabīr

۞ قُلۡ مَن یَرۡزُقُكُم مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۖ قُلِ ٱللَّهُۖ وَإِنَّاۤ أَوۡ إِیَّاكُمۡ لَعَلَىٰ هُدًى أَوۡ فِی ضَلَـٰلࣲ مُّبِینࣲ ۝٢٤

MunirMezyed2023

Say: "Who gives you sustenance from the heavens and the earth? Say: “It is Allâh alone! Verily, we or you are either on the path of truth or in utter deception".

qul man yarzuqukum mina l-samāwāti wal-arḍi quli l-lahu wa-innā aw iyyākum laʿalā hudan aw fī ḍalālin mubīni

قُل لَّا تُسۡءَلُونَ عَمَّاۤ أَجۡرَمۡنَا وَلَا نُسۡءَلُ عَمَّا تَعۡمَلُونَ ۝٢٥

MunirMezyed2023

Say: "You won’t be questioned about the iniquitous deeds we committed, nor shall we be questioned about what you do".

qul lā tus'alūna ʿammā ajramnā walā nus'alu ʿammā taʿmalūn

قُلۡ یَجۡمَعُ بَیۡنَنَا رَبُّنَا ثُمَّ یَفۡتَحُ بَیۡنَنَا بِٱلۡحَقِّ وَهُوَ ٱلۡفَتَّاحُ ٱلۡعَلِیمُ ۝٢٦

MunirMezyed2023

Say: "Our Lord will gather us all together, then He will judge between us equitably. And He is the Perfect Judge, the All-Knowing”.

qul yajmaʿu baynanā rabbunā thumma yaftaḥu baynanā bil-ḥaqi wahuwa l-fatāḥu l-ʿalīm

قُلۡ أَرُونِیَ ٱلَّذِینَ أَلۡحَقۡتُم بِهِۦ شُرَكَاۤءَۖ كَلَّاۚ بَلۡ هُوَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡعَزِیزُ ٱلۡحَكِیمُ ۝٢٧

Say: ”Show me those whom you have joined with Him as associates: No indeed! In fact, He is Allâh, the Almighty, the All-Wise."

qul arūniya alladhīna alḥaqtum bihi shurakāa kallā bal huwa l-lahu l-ʿazīzu l-ḥakīm

وَمَاۤ أَرۡسَلۡنَـٰكَ إِلَّا كَاۤفَّةࣰ لِّلنَّاسِ بَشِیرࣰا وَنَذِیرࣰا وَلَـٰكِنَّ أَكۡثَرَ ٱلنَّاسِ لَا یَعۡلَمُونَ ۝٢٨

MunirMezyed2023

We have not sent you but as a (Messenger) to the whole of mankind, giving them glad tidings (of how to attain salvation), and sufficient warning (about how to avoid Hellfire). Yet most of the people do lack the knowledge (of this truth).

wamā arsalnāka illā kāffatan lilnnāsi bashīran wanadhīran walākinna akthara l-nāsi lā yaʿlamūn

وَیَقُولُونَ مَتَىٰ هَـٰذَا ٱلۡوَعۡدُ إِن كُنتُمۡ صَـٰدِقِینَ ۝٢٩

MunirMezyed2023

They say: "When will this promise (be fulfilled ) if you are truthful?"

wayaqūlūna matā hādhā l-waʿdu in kuntum ṣādiqīn

قُل لَّكُم مِّیعَادُ یَوۡمࣲ لَّا تَسۡتَءۡخِرُونَ عَنۡهُ سَاعَةࣰ وَلَا تَسۡتَقۡدِمُونَ ۝٣٠

MunirMezyed2023

Say: ”You have a predetermined day, which you can neither delay nor hasten by a single hour ”.

qul lakum mīʿādu yawmin lā tastakhirūna ʿanhu sāʿatan walā tastaqdimūn

4 Leaders of Evil

وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوا۟ لَن نُّؤۡمِنَ بِهَـٰذَا ٱلۡقُرۡءَانِ وَلَا بِٱلَّذِی بَیۡنَ یَدَیۡهِۗ وَلَوۡ تَرَىٰۤ إِذِ ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ مَوۡقُوفُونَ عِندَ رَبِّهِمۡ یَرۡجِعُ بَعۡضُهُمۡ إِلَىٰ بَعۡضٍ ٱلۡقَوۡلَ یَقُولُ ٱلَّذِینَ ٱسۡتُضۡعِفُوا۟ لِلَّذِینَ ٱسۡتَكۡبَرُوا۟ لَوۡلَاۤ أَنتُمۡ لَكُنَّا مُؤۡمِنِینَ ۝٣١

And those persistently refused to yield to the Truth said: “We pledge not to give credence to this Qur’ān or to that which was before it." However, if you could see, when those who have voluntarily and consciously abandoned the Full Knowledge of the Truth in favour of their own whims are made to stand before their Lord, how they will cast blame on each other; and how those who were deemed weak say to their arrogant masters: "Had it not been for you, we would have lived a life of Genuine Faith."

waqāla alladhīna kafarū lan nu'mina bihādhā l-qur'āni walā bi-alladhī bayna yadayhi walaw tarā idhi l-ẓālimūna mawqūfūna ʿinda rabbihim yarjiʿu baʿḍuhum ilā baʿḍin l-qawla yaqūlu alladhīna us'tuḍ'ʿifū lilladhīna is'takbarū lawlā antum lakunnā mu'minīn

قَالَ ٱلَّذِینَ ٱسۡتَكۡبَرُوا۟ لِلَّذِینَ ٱسۡتُضۡعِفُوۤا۟ أَنَحۡنُ صَدَدۡنَـٰكُمۡ عَنِ ٱلۡهُدَىٰ بَعۡدَ إِذۡ جَاۤءَكُمۖ بَلۡ كُنتُم مُّجۡرِمِینَ ۝٣٢

Then, those arrogant masters will say to those who were deemed weak: “Did we really prevent you from yielding to the Truth after it had been revealed to you? No, indeed; you yourselves were Ungodly Sinners.”

qāla alladhīna is'takbarū lilladhīna us'tuḍ'ʿifū anaḥnu ṣadadnākum ʿani l-hudā baʿda idh jāakum bal kuntum muj'rimīn

وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِینَ ٱسۡتُضۡعِفُوا۟ لِلَّذِینَ ٱسۡتَكۡبَرُوا۟ بَلۡ مَكۡرُ ٱلَّیۡلِ وَٱلنَّهَارِ إِذۡ تَأۡمُرُونَنَاۤ أَن نَّكۡفُرَ بِٱللَّهِ وَنَجۡعَلَ لَهُۥۤ أَندَادࣰاۚ وَأَسَرُّوا۟ ٱلنَّدَامَةَ لَمَّا رَأَوُا۟ ٱلۡعَذَابَۚ وَجَعَلۡنَا ٱلۡأَغۡلَـٰلَ فِیۤ أَعۡنَاقِ ٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوا۟ۖ هَلۡ یُجۡزَوۡنَ إِلَّا مَا كَانُوا۟ یَعۡمَلُونَ ۝٣٣

Those who were deemed weak will say to the arrogant masters: ”Nay, but it was your evil scheming by night and day when you used to instruct us to deny the Oneness of Allâh and to set up rivals to Him!" Nevertheless, they will conceal their compunction when they behold the chastisement. And We will put shackles around the necks of those who deny the Oneness of Allâh. Are they chastised aught except for what they were inclined to do?

waqāla alladhīna us'tuḍ'ʿifū lilladhīna is'takbarū bal makru al-layli wal-nahāri idh tamurūnanā an nakfura bil-lahi wanajʿala lahu andādan wa-asarrū l-nadāmata lammā ra-awū l-ʿadhāba wajaʿalnā l-aghlāla fī aʿnāqi alladhīna kafarū hal yuj'zawna illā mā kānū yaʿmalūn

وَمَاۤ أَرۡسَلۡنَا فِی قَرۡیَةࣲ مِّن نَّذِیرٍ إِلَّا قَالَ مُتۡرَفُوهَاۤ إِنَّا بِمَاۤ أُرۡسِلۡتُم بِهِۦ كَـٰفِرُونَ ۝٣٤

And whenever We sent a Messenger to a town to admonish (its inhabitants) , the wealthy ones therein said: “Indeed, we pledge not to give credence to (this nonsense message) with which you have been sent.”

wamā arsalnā fī qaryatin min nadhīrin illā qāla mut'rafūhā innā bimā ur'sil'tum bihi kāfirūn

وَقَالُوا۟ نَحۡنُ أَكۡثَرُ أَمۡوَ ٰلࣰا وَأَوۡلَـٰدࣰا وَمَا نَحۡنُ بِمُعَذَّبِینَ ۝٣٥

They added: "We are more abundant in wealth and children. (Above all), we are not going to be punished."

waqālū naḥnu aktharu amwālan wa-awlādan wamā naḥnu bimuʿadhabīn

قُلۡ إِنَّ رَبِّی یَبۡسُطُ ٱلرِّزۡقَ لِمَن یَشَاۤءُ وَیَقۡدِرُ وَلَـٰكِنَّ أَكۡثَرَ ٱلنَّاسِ لَا یَعۡلَمُونَ ۝٣٦

Say: “My Lord extends and straitens His provision for whom He wills. But most of the people do lack the knowledge (of this truth)."

qul inna rabbī yabsuṭu l-riz'qa liman yashāu wayaqdiru walākinna akthara l-nāsi lā yaʿlamūn

5 Wealth stands not for Greatness

وَمَاۤ أَمۡوَ ٰلُكُمۡ وَلَاۤ أَوۡلَـٰدُكُم بِٱلَّتِی تُقَرِّبُكُمۡ عِندَنَا زُلۡفَىٰۤ إِلَّا مَنۡ ءَامَنَ وَعَمِلَ صَـٰلِحࣰا فَأُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ لَهُمۡ جَزَاۤءُ ٱلضِّعۡفِ بِمَا عَمِلُوا۟ وَهُمۡ فِی ٱلۡغُرُفَـٰتِ ءَامِنُونَ ۝٣٧

It is neither your wealth nor your children that will bring you nearer to Us in rank. Only those who live by Faith and strive to do righteous work will have a multiplied reward for what they were inclined to do and will live peacefully in lofty champers (in Paradise).

wamā amwālukum walā awlādukum bi-allatī tuqarribukum ʿindanā zul'fā illā man āmana waʿamila ṣāliḥan fa-ulāika lahum jazāu l-ḍiʿ'fi bimā ʿamilū wahum fī l-ghurufāti āminūn

وَٱلَّذِینَ یَسۡعَوۡنَ فِیۤ ءَایَـٰتِنَا مُعَـٰجِزِینَ أُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ فِی ٱلۡعَذَابِ مُحۡضَرُونَ ۝٣٨

But those who strive to refute What We revealed of the Knowledge of the Truth will be brought to the punishment.

wa-alladhīna yasʿawna fī āyātinā muʿājizīna ulāika fī l-ʿadhābi muḥ'ḍarūn

قُلۡ إِنَّ رَبِّی یَبۡسُطُ ٱلرِّزۡقَ لِمَن یَشَاۤءُ مِنۡ عِبَادِهِۦ وَیَقۡدِرُ لَهُۥۚ وَمَاۤ أَنفَقۡتُم مِّن شَیۡءࣲ فَهُوَ یُخۡلِفُهُۥۖ وَهُوَ خَیۡرُ ٱلرَّ ٰزِقِینَ ۝٣٩

Say: “My Lord extends and straitens His provision for whom He wills of His servants. And whatever you expend He will replace it. And He is the Best of Providers".

qul inna rabbī yabsuṭu l-riz'qa liman yashāu min ʿibādihi wayaqdiru lahu wamā anfaqtum min shayin fahuwa yukh'lifuhu wahuwa khayru l-rāziqīn

وَیَوۡمَ یَحۡشُرُهُمۡ جَمِیعࣰا ثُمَّ یَقُولُ لِلۡمَلَـٰۤىِٕكَةِ أَهَـٰۤؤُلَاۤءِ إِیَّاكُمۡ كَانُوا۟ یَعۡبُدُونَ ۝٤٠

And (mention) on the day when He will gather them all together, He will say to the Angels: "Was it you that these people used to worship?"

wayawma yaḥshuruhum jamīʿan thumma yaqūlu lil'malāikati ahāulāi iyyākum kānū yaʿbudūn

قَالُوا۟ سُبۡحَـٰنَكَ أَنتَ وَلِیُّنَا مِن دُونِهِمۖ بَلۡ كَانُوا۟ یَعۡبُدُونَ ٱلۡجِنَّۖ أَكۡثَرُهُم بِهِم مُّؤۡمِنُونَ ۝٤١

They will reply: "Glory Be To You”. You are our Guardian, not they. In Fact, they were inclined to worship the jinn: most of them yielded to their (temptation)."

qālū sub'ḥānaka anta waliyyunā min dūnihim bal kānū yaʿbudūna l-jina aktharuhum bihim mu'minūn

فَٱلۡیَوۡمَ لَا یَمۡلِكُ بَعۡضُكُمۡ لِبَعۡضࣲ نَّفۡعࣰا وَلَا ضَرࣰّا وَنَقُولُ لِلَّذِینَ ظَلَمُوا۟ ذُوقُوا۟ عَذَابَ ٱلنَّارِ ٱلَّتِی كُنتُم بِهَا تُكَذِّبُونَ ۝٤٢

So, today none of you will have the power to avail or hurt one another. And We will say to those who have voluntarily and consciously abandoned the Full Knowledge of the Truth in favour of their own whims: "Taste now the chastisement of the Fire which you persistently denied (in the worldly life).

fal-yawma lā yamliku baʿḍukum libaʿḍin nafʿan walā ḍarran wanaqūlu lilladhīna ẓalamū dhūqū ʿadhāba l-nāri allatī kuntum bihā tukadhibūn

وَإِذَا تُتۡلَىٰ عَلَیۡهِمۡ ءَایَـٰتُنَا بَیِّنَـٰتࣲ قَالُوا۟ مَا هَـٰذَاۤ إِلَّا رَجُلࣱ یُرِیدُ أَن یَصُدَّكُمۡ عَمَّا كَانَ یَعۡبُدُ ءَابَاۤؤُكُمۡ وَقَالُوا۟ مَا هَـٰذَاۤ إِلَّاۤ إِفۡكࣱ مُّفۡتَرࣰىۚ وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوا۟ لِلۡحَقِّ لَمَّا جَاۤءَهُمۡ إِنۡ هَـٰذَاۤ إِلَّا سِحۡرࣱ مُّبِینࣱ ۝٤٣

And when Our Verses are recited to them as conclusive evidence, they say: “This is naught but a man who seeks to turn you away from what your forefathers were inclined to worship." And they say: “This is only an invented lie.” And those who live in spiritual darkness say of the Truth when it has been revealed to them: “This is nothing more than a manifest sorcery."

wa-idhā tut'lā ʿalayhim āyātunā bayyinātin qālū mā hādhā illā rajulun yurīdu an yaṣuddakum ʿammā kāna yaʿbudu ābāukum waqālū mā hādhā illā if'kun muf'taran waqāla alladhīna kafarū lil'ḥaqqi lammā jāahum in hādhā illā siḥ'run mubīnu

وَمَاۤ ءَاتَیۡنَـٰهُم مِّن كُتُبࣲ یَدۡرُسُونَهَاۖ وَمَاۤ أَرۡسَلۡنَاۤ إِلَیۡهِمۡ قَبۡلَكَ مِن نَّذِیرࣲ ۝٤٤

Yet We have not given them any books which they read, nor did We send to them before you a Messenger to admonish them.

wamā ātaynāhum min kutubin yadrusūnahā wamā arsalnā ilayhim qablaka min nadhīri

وَكَذَّبَ ٱلَّذِینَ مِن قَبۡلِهِمۡ وَمَا بَلَغُوا۟ مِعۡشَارَ مَاۤ ءَاتَیۡنَـٰهُمۡ فَكَذَّبُوا۟ رُسُلِیۖ فَكَیۡفَ كَانَ نَكِیرِ ۝٤٥

And those who were before them (also) denied (the Truth); and these- (Pagan Arabs)- have not yet accomplished a tenth of that which We conferred on them. But they were inclined to deny My Apostles. And how dreadful was My condemnation!

wakadhaba alladhīna min qablihim wamā balaghū miʿ'shāra mā ātaynāhum fakadhabū rusulī fakayfa kāna nakīr

6 Truth will prosper

۞ قُلۡ إِنَّمَاۤ أَعِظُكُم بِوَ ٰحِدَةٍۖ أَن تَقُومُوا۟ لِلَّهِ مَثۡنَىٰ وَفُرَ ٰدَىٰ ثُمَّ تَتَفَكَّرُوا۟ۚ مَا بِصَاحِبِكُم مِّن جِنَّةٍۚ إِنۡ هُوَ إِلَّا نَذِیرࣱ لَّكُم بَیۡنَ یَدَیۡ عَذَابࣲ شَدِیدࣲ ۝٤٦

Say: "I exhort you to do only one thing: Stand up before Allâh either in pairs or singly, then think deeply: there is no madness in your companion. He is just a Messenger sent to you in order to admonish you before the befalling of a severe punishment (if you continue to deny the Oneness of Allâh).”

qul innamā aʿiẓukum biwāḥidatin an taqūmū lillahi mathnā wafurādā thumma tatafakkarū mā biṣāḥibikum min jinnatin in huwa illā nadhīrun lakum bayna yaday ʿadhābin shadīdi

قُلۡ مَا سَأَلۡتُكُم مِّنۡ أَجۡرࣲ فَهُوَ لَكُمۡۖ إِنۡ أَجۡرِیَ إِلَّا عَلَى ٱللَّهِۖ وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَیۡءࣲ شَهِیدࣱ ۝٤٧

Say: “Whatever reward I have asked of you, keep it for yourselves. Most surely my reward lies only with Allâh, and He is Witness over all things.”

qul mā sa-altukum min ajrin fahuwa lakum in ajriya illā ʿalā l-lahi wahuwa ʿalā kulli shayin shahīdu

قُلۡ إِنَّ رَبِّی یَقۡذِفُ بِٱلۡحَقِّ عَلَّـٰمُ ٱلۡغُیُوبِ ۝٤٨

MunirMezyed2023

Say: “My Lord flings open the doors of Truth. He has full knowledge of (the secrets of) unseen.”

qul inna rabbī yaqdhifu bil-ḥaqi ʿallāmu l-ghuyūb

قُلۡ جَاۤءَ ٱلۡحَقُّ وَمَا یُبۡدِئُ ٱلۡبَـٰطِلُ وَمَا یُعِیدُ ۝٤٩

MunirMezyed2023

Say: "The (Full Knowledge of)Truth has been revealed. Thus, falsehood has utterly vanished and will never return.

qul jāa l-ḥaqu wamā yub'di-u l-bāṭilu wamā yuʿīd

قُلۡ إِن ضَلَلۡتُ فَإِنَّمَاۤ أَضِلُّ عَلَىٰ نَفۡسِیۖ وَإِنِ ٱهۡتَدَیۡتُ فَبِمَا یُوحِیۤ إِلَیَّ رَبِّیۤۚ إِنَّهُۥ سَمِیعࣱ قَرِیبࣱ ۝٥٠

MunirMezyed2023

Say: “If I deviate (from the path of truth), the sin of my deviation shall be held against me. And if I am on the right path, it is because of that which my Lord has revealed to me (of the Qur’ān). Most surely He is All-hearing, Ever-Nigh.”

qul in ḍalaltu fa-innamā aḍillu ʿalā nafsī wa-ini ih'tadaytu fabimā yūḥī ilayya rabbī innahu samīʿun qarību

وَلَوۡ تَرَىٰۤ إِذۡ فَزِعُوا۟ فَلَا فَوۡتَ وَأُخِذُوا۟ مِن مَّكَانࣲ قَرِیبࣲ ۝٥١

MunirMezyed2023

If you could only see (the impious) when they are stricken with terror (on the Resurrection Day), there will be no escape for them, and they will be seized from a nearby place.

walaw tarā idh faziʿū falā fawta wa-ukhidhū min makānin qarībi

وَقَالُوۤا۟ ءَامَنَّا بِهِۦ وَأَنَّىٰ لَهُمُ ٱلتَّنَاوُشُ مِن مَّكَانِۭ بَعِیدࣲ ۝٥٢

MunirMezyed2023

And they will then say: "We do now adhere to Faith. But how can they possibly adhere to Faith from a place so far-off .

waqālū āmannā bihi wa-annā lahumu l-tanāwushu min makānin baʿīdi

وَقَدۡ كَفَرُوا۟ بِهِۦ مِن قَبۡلُۖ وَیَقۡذِفُونَ بِٱلۡغَیۡبِ مِن مَّكَانِۭ بَعِیدࣲ ۝٥٣

When they had already rejected it before? And they throw guesses at the Unseen from a far-off place.

waqad kafarū bihi min qablu wayaqdhifūna bil-ghaybi min makānin baʿīdi

وَحِیلَ بَیۡنَهُمۡ وَبَیۡنَ مَا یَشۡتَهُونَ كَمَا فُعِلَ بِأَشۡیَاعِهِم مِّن قَبۡلُۚ إِنَّهُمۡ كَانُوا۟ فِی شَكࣲّ مُّرِیبِۭ ۝٥٤

MunirMezyed2023

And a barrier will be set between them and what they desire, just as was done with their adherents aforetime. Verily, they were all in disquieting doubt.

waḥīla baynahum wabayna mā yashtahūna kamā fuʿila bi-ashyāʿihim min qablu innahum kānū fī shakkin murībi
