71:1 ›
إِنَّاۤ أَرۡسَلۡنَا نُوحًا إِلَىٰ قَوۡمِهِۦۤ أَنۡ أَنذِرۡ قَوۡمَكَ مِن قَبۡلِ أَن یَأۡتِیَهُمۡ عَذَابٌ أَلِیمࣱ ۝١
Munir Mezyed
Indeed, We sent ‘Noah’ (as Our ‘Messenger’) to his people, (saying): "Warn your people before there comes to them a painful doom."
innā arsalnā nūḥan ilā qawmihi an andhir qawmaka min qabli an yatiyahum ʿadhābun alīmu
71:2 ›
قَالَ یَـٰقَوۡمِ إِنِّی لَكُمۡ نَذِیرࣱ مُّبِینٌ ۝٢
Munir Mezyed
He said: "O’ my people, indeed, I am just a perspicuous warner to you
qāla yāqawmi innī lakum nadhīrun mubīnu
71:3 ›
أَنِ ٱعۡبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَٱتَّقُوهُ وَأَطِیعُونِ ۝٣
Munir Mezyed
That you should worship (& venerate) Allâh Alone, act piously towards Him and follow me.
ani uʿ'budū l-laha wa-ittaqūhu wa-aṭīʿūn
71:4 ›
یَغۡفِرۡ لَكُم مِّن ذُنُوبِكُمۡ وَیُؤَخِّرۡكُمۡ إِلَىٰۤ أَجَلࣲ مُّسَمًّىۚ إِنَّ أَجَلَ ٱللَّهِ إِذَا جَاۤءَ لَا یُؤَخَّرُۚ لَوۡ كُنتُمۡ تَعۡلَمُونَ ۝٤
Munir Mezyed
He will redeem you from your sins and respite you to an appointed term. Indeed, the Term of Allâh, when it comes, cannot postponed, if you but know."
yaghfir lakum min dhunūbikum wayu-akhir'kum ilā ajalin musamman inna ajala l-lahi idhā jāa lā yu-akharu law kuntum taʿlamūn
71:5 ›
قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّی دَعَوۡتُ قَوۡمِی لَیۡلࣰا وَنَهَارࣰا ۝٥
Munir Mezyed
He said: "O’ my Lord, I have been inviting my people (to embrace the true Monotheistic Faith) night and day,
qāla rabbi innī daʿawtu qawmī laylan wanahāra
71:6 ›
فَلَمۡ یَزِدۡهُمۡ دُعَاۤءِیۤ إِلَّا فِرَارࣰا ۝٦
Munir Mezyed
But all my invitations have made them more determined to take in their self-deceived beliefs for the epistemic.
falam yazid'hum duʿāī illā firāra
71:7 ›
وَإِنِّی كُلَّمَا دَعَوۡتُهُمۡ لِتَغۡفِرَ لَهُمۡ جَعَلُوۤا۟ أَصَـٰبِعَهُمۡ فِیۤ ءَاذَانِهِمۡ وَٱسۡتَغۡشَوۡا۟ ثِیَابَهُمۡ وَأَصَرُّوا۟ وَٱسۡتَكۡبَرُوا۟ ٱسۡتِكۡبَارࣰا ۝٧
Munir Mezyed
Whenever I invite them (to embrace the true monotheistic faith), so that You may forgive them. They thrust their fingers in their ears, covering themselves with their garments, persisting (in ignoring my preaching), and displaying an arrogant attitude (towards Faith) with excessive pride.
wa-innī kullamā daʿawtuhum litaghfira lahum jaʿalū aṣābiʿahum fī ādhānihim wa-is'taghshaw thiyābahum wa-aṣarrū wa-is'takbarū is'tik'bāra
71:8 ›
ثُمَّ إِنِّی دَعَوۡتُهُمۡ جِهَارࣰا ۝٨
Munir Mezyed
Then surely I invited them (to embrace the true Monotheistic Faith) openly,
thumma innī daʿawtuhum jihāra
71:9 ›
ثُمَّ إِنِّیۤ أَعۡلَنتُ لَهُمۡ وَأَسۡرَرۡتُ لَهُمۡ إِسۡرَارࣰا ۝٩
Munir Mezyed
Then surely I proclaimed to them in public and spoke to them in private.
thumma innī aʿlantu lahum wa-asrartu lahum is'rāra
71:10 ›
فَقُلۡتُ ٱسۡتَغۡفِرُوا۟ رَبَّكُمۡ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ غَفَّارࣰا ۝١٠
Munir Mezyed
I said: “Ask forgiveness from your Lord. Indeed, He is Oft-Forgiving.
faqul'tu is'taghfirū rabbakum innahu kāna ghaffāra
71:11 ›
یُرۡسِلِ ٱلسَّمَاۤءَ عَلَیۡكُم مِّدۡرَارࣰا ۝١١
Munir Mezyed
He will send down upon you, from the sky, an abundance of rain .
yur'sili l-samāa ʿalaykum mid'rāra
71:12 ›
وَیُمۡدِدۡكُم بِأَمۡوَ ٰلࣲ وَبَنِینَ وَیَجۡعَل لَّكُمۡ جَنَّـٰتࣲ وَیَجۡعَل لَّكُمۡ أَنۡهَـٰرࣰا ۝١٢
Munir Mezyed
He will give you increase in wealth and children, providing for you gardens and rivers.
wayum'did'kum bi-amwālin wabanīna wayajʿal lakum jannātin wayajʿal lakum anhāra
71:13 ›
مَّا لَكُمۡ لَا تَرۡجُونَ لِلَّهِ وَقَارࣰا ۝١٣
Munir Mezyed
What is the matter with you that you hope not for grandeur from Allâh?”
mā lakum lā tarjūna lillahi waqāra
71:14 ›
وَقَدۡ خَلَقَكُمۡ أَطۡوَارًا ۝١٤
Munir Mezyed
Indeed, He has created you in several stages.
waqad khalaqakum aṭwāra
71:15 ›
أَلَمۡ تَرَوۡا۟ كَیۡفَ خَلَقَ ٱللَّهُ سَبۡعَ سَمَـٰوَ ٰتࣲ طِبَاقࣰا ۝١٥
Munir Mezyed
Have you not seen that Allâh has created the seven heavens one above the other,
alam taraw kayfa khalaqa l-lahu sabʿa samāwātin ṭibāqa
71:16 ›
وَجَعَلَ ٱلۡقَمَرَ فِیهِنَّ نُورࣰا وَجَعَلَ ٱلشَّمۡسَ سِرَاجࣰا ۝١٦
Munir Mezyed
And placed the moon therein as a light, and the sun as a lamp?
wajaʿala l-qamara fīhinna nūran wajaʿala l-shamsa sirāja
71:17 ›
وَٱللَّهُ أَنۢبَتَكُم مِّنَ ٱلۡأَرۡضِ نَبَاتࣰا ۝١٧
Munir Mezyed
Allâh caused you to grow out of the earth like plants,
wal-lahu anbatakum mina l-arḍi nabāta
71:18 ›
ثُمَّ یُعِیدُكُمۡ فِیهَا وَیُخۡرِجُكُمۡ إِخۡرَاجࣰا ۝١٨
Munir Mezyed
And in the end He will return you into it, and raise you forth (again at the ‘Resurrection Day’).
thumma yuʿīdukum fīhā wayukh'rijukum ikh'rāja
71:19 ›
وَٱللَّهُ جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلۡأَرۡضَ بِسَاطࣰا ۝١٩
Munir Mezyed
Allâh has made the earth a wide expanse for you
wal-lahu jaʿala lakumu l-arḍa bisāṭa
71:20 ›
لِّتَسۡلُكُوا۟ مِنۡهَا سُبُلࣰا فِجَاجࣰا ۝٢٠
Munir Mezyed
So that you may go along therein in wide paths.
litaslukū min'hā subulan fijāja
2 Destruction of Transgressors
71:21 ›
قَالَ نُوحࣱ رَّبِّ إِنَّهُمۡ عَصَوۡنِی وَٱتَّبَعُوا۟ مَن لَّمۡ یَزِدۡهُ مَالُهُۥ وَوَلَدُهُۥۤ إِلَّا خَسَارࣰا ۝٢١
Munir Mezyed
‘Noah’ said: "My Lord, they refused to obey me, and followed the one whose wealth and children have increased him in naught but perdition.
qāla nūḥun rabbi innahum ʿaṣawnī wa-ittabaʿū man lam yazid'hu māluhu wawaladuhu illā khasāra
71:22 ›
وَمَكَرُوا۟ مَكۡرࣰا كُبَّارࣰا ۝٢٢
Munir Mezyed
And they have devised a mighty plot.”
wamakarū makran kubbāra
71:23 ›
وَقَالُوا۟ لَا تَذَرُنَّ ءَالِهَتَكُمۡ وَلَا تَذَرُنَّ وَدࣰّا وَلَا سُوَاعࣰا وَلَا یَغُوثَ وَیَعُوقَ وَنَسۡرࣰا ۝٢٣
Munir Mezyed
They said: “Forsake not your gods! Forsake neither ‘Wadd’, nor ‘Suwā‘', and neither ‘ Yaghūth’, nor ‘Ya'ooq ‘ nor ‘Nisr!’”
waqālū lā tadharunna ālihatakum walā tadharunna waddan walā suwāʿan walā yaghūtha wayaʿūqa wanasra
71:24 ›
وَقَدۡ أَضَلُّوا۟ كَثِیرࣰاۖ وَلَا تَزِدِ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِینَ إِلَّا ضَلَـٰلࣰا ۝٢٤
Munir Mezyed
And they have certainly led many astray. (‘Noah’ supplicated saying): "My Lord, cause those who are grossly unfair and morally wrong to be greatly deceived.
waqad aḍallū kathīran walā tazidi l-ẓālimīna illā ḍalāla
71:25 ›
مِّمَّا خَطِیۤءَـٰتِهِمۡ أُغۡرِقُوا۟ فَأُدۡخِلُوا۟ نَارࣰا فَلَمۡ یَجِدُوا۟ لَهُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ أَنصَارࣰا ۝٢٥
Munir Mezyed
As a consequence of their sins, they were drowned, then admitted into the Fire. They could not find any helpers besides ‘Allâh’.
mimmā khaṭīātihim ugh'riqū fa-ud'khilū nāran falam yajidū lahum min dūni l-lahi anṣāra
71:26 ›
وَقَالَ نُوحࣱ رَّبِّ لَا تَذَرۡ عَلَى ٱلۡأَرۡضِ مِنَ ٱلۡكَـٰفِرِینَ دَیَّارًا ۝٢٦
Munir Mezyed
‘Noah’ said: "My Lord, leave not a single dweller on the earth, who lacks Faith in Allâh.
waqāla nūḥun rabbi lā tadhar ʿalā l-arḍi mina l-kāfirīna dayyāra
71:27 ›
إِنَّكَ إِن تَذَرۡهُمۡ یُضِلُّوا۟ عِبَادَكَ وَلَا یَلِدُوۤا۟ إِلَّا فَاجِرࣰا كَفَّارࣰا ۝٢٧
Munir Mezyed
Indeed if You spare any of them, they will mislead Your worshipers and will beget only wicked and impious (children).
innaka in tadharhum yuḍillū ʿibādaka walā yalidū illā fājiran kaffāra
71:28 ›
رَّبِّ ٱغۡفِرۡ لِی وَلِوَ ٰلِدَیَّ وَلِمَن دَخَلَ بَیۡتِیَ مُؤۡمِنࣰا وَلِلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ وَٱلۡمُؤۡمِنَـٰتِۖ وَلَا تَزِدِ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِینَ إِلَّا تَبَارَۢا ۝٢٨
Munir Mezyed
My Lord, forgive me, and my parents, and whoever enters my house as a monotheistic believer, and all the Monotheistic Believers, men and women, and increase not those who are grossly unfair and morally wrong in aught, except perdition.
rabbi igh'fir lī waliwālidayya waliman dakhala baytiya mu'minan walil'mu'minīna wal-mu'mināti walā tazidi l-ẓālimīna illā tabāra
