1 The Folding Up

إِذَا الشَّمْسُ كُوِّرَتْ

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

When the sun will be folded up and extinguished

Itha alshshamsu kuwwirat

وَإِذَا النُّجُومُ انكَدَرَتْ

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And the stars will fall (from their galaxies)

Wa-itha alnnujoomu inkadarat

وَإِذَا الْجِبَالُ سُيِّرَتْ

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And when the mountains, (after having changed into dust,) will be set in motion (into the atmosphere)

Wa-itha aljibalu suyyirat

وَإِذَا الْعِشَارُ عُطِّلَتْ

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And when the she-camels heavy with young will be left neglected and discarded (i.e., no one will tend them)

Wa-itha alAAisharu AAuttilat

وَإِذَا الْوُحُوشُ حُشِرَتْ

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And when (fear-stricken) wild beasts will be herded together

Wa-itha alwuhooshu hushirat

وَإِذَا الْبِحَارُ سُجِّرَتْ

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And when (all) oceans and rivers will be made to rise and swell

Wa-itha albiharu sujjirat

وَإِذَا النُّفُوسُ زُوِّجَتْ

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And when souls will be united (with their bodies)

Wa-itha alnnufoosu zuwwijat

وَإِذَا الْمَوْءُودَةُ سُئِلَتْ

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And when the infant girl buried alive will be asked

Wa-itha almawoodatu su-ilat

بِأَيِّ ذَنبٍ قُتِلَتْ

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

For what crime was she slain

Bi-ayyi thanbin qutilat

وَإِذَا الصُّحُفُ نُشِرَتْ

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And when the records of deeds will be laid open

Wa-itha alssuhufu nushirat

وَإِذَا السَّمَاءُ كُشِطَتْ

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And when the layers of heaven will be torn asunder and moved away from their places

Wa-itha alssamao kushitat

وَإِذَا الْجَحِيمُ سُعِّرَتْ

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And when (the Fire of) Hell will be burnt ablaze

Wa-itha aljaheemu suAAAAirat

وَإِذَا الْجَنَّةُ أُزْلِفَتْ

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And when Paradise will be brought up close

Wa-itha aljannatu ozlifat

عَلِمَتْ نَفْسٌ مَّا أَحْضَرَتْ

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Everyone will come to know what he has brought forth

AAalimat nafsun ma ahdarat

فَلَا أُقْسِمُ بِالْخُنَّسِ

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

So I swear by (the heavenly spheres) which recede (after appearing)

Fala oqsimu bialkhunnasi

الْجَوَارِ الْكُنَّسِ

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Which revolve freely, (then) hide (after appearing)

Aljawari alkunnasi

وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا عَسْعَسَ

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And by the night when its darkness tapers off

Waallayli itha AAasAAasa

وَالصُّبْحِ إِذَا تَنَفَّسَ

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And by the morning when its light dawns

Waalssubhi itha tanaffasa

إِنَّهُ لَقَوْلُ رَسُولٍ كَرِيمٍ

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Indeed, this (Qur’an) is the Word (communicated) by a glorious and most venerable Messenger (blessings and peace be upon him)

Innahu laqawlu rasoolin kareemin

ذِي قُوَّةٍ عِندَ ذِي الْعَرْشِ مَكِينٍ

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Who is mighty and strong (in calling to the truth, preaching the faith in Messengership and spiritual competence, and) is held in extreme reverence and veneration (and splendour and glory) in the presence of the Lord of the Throne

Thee quwwatin AAinda thee alAAarshi makeenin

مُّطَاعٍ ثَمَّ أَمِينٍ

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Entitled to obligatory obedience (by all the worlds because obedience to him is obedience to Allah) and faithful to His trust (possesses Revelation and all divine secrets of the heavens and the earth)

MutaAAin thamma ameenin

وَمَا صَاحِبُكُم بِمَجْنُونٍ

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And, (O people,) he who blesses you with his (holy) companionship (Muhammad [blessings and peace be upon him]) is not mad. (Whatever he communicates is the truth.

Wama sahibukum bimajnoonin

وَلَقَدْ رَآهُ بِالْأُفُقِ الْمُبِينِ

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And he has indeed seen (the absolute beauty of the Lord of the Throne) on the effulgent horizon (of the realm of Divinity).

Walaqad raahu bialofuqi almubeeni

وَمَا هُوَ عَلَى الْغَيْبِ بِضَنِينٍ

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And he (the glorious Messenger [blessings and peace be upon him]) is not at all miserly in (disclosing) the unseen. (The Lord of the Throne has not left for him any deficiency.

Wama huwa AAala alghaybi bidaneenin

وَمَا هُوَ بِقَوْلِ شَيْطَانٍ رَّجِيمٍ

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Nor is that (Qur’an) the utterance of any accursed Satan

Wama huwa biqawli shaytanin rajeemin

فَأَيْنَ تَذْهَبُونَ

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Then, (O you doomed,) where are you going (disregarding such a valuable treasure)

Faayna tathhaboona

إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكْرٌ لِّلْعَالَمِينَ

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

This (Qur’an) is but admonition (revealed) for all the worlds

In huwa illa thikrun lilAAalameena

لِمَن شَاءَ مِنكُمْ أَن يَسْتَقِيمَ

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Every one of you who aspires to tread the straight path (can take guidance from this source spring)

Liman shaa minkum an yastaqeema

وَمَا تَشَاءُونَ إِلَّا أَن يَشَاءَ اللَّهُ رَبُّ الْعَالَمِينَ

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And you can aspire only to what Allah intends, Who is the Sustainer of all the worlds

Wama tashaoona illa an yashaa Allahu rabbu alAAalameena
