88:1 ›
هَلْ أَتَاكَ حَدِيثُ الْغَاشِيَةِ
Mir Aneesuddin
Have the details of the happenings on the (day of the final) covering come to you?
Hal ataka hadeethu alghashiyati
88:2 ›
وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ خَاشِعَةٌ
Mir Aneesuddin
Faces on that day will be downcast,
Wujoohun yawma-ithin khashiAAatun
88:3 ›
عَامِلَةٌ نَّاصِبَةٌ
Mir Aneesuddin
labouring, weary,
AAamilatun nasibatun
88:4 ›
تَصْلَىٰ نَارًا حَامِيَةً
Mir Aneesuddin
entering very hot fire,
Tasla naran hamiyatan
88:5 ›
تُسْقَىٰ مِنْ عَيْنٍ آنِيَةٍ
Mir Aneesuddin
being made to drink from boiling spring.
Tusqa min AAaynin aniyatin
88:6 ›
لَّيْسَ لَهُمْ طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِن ضَرِيعٍ
Mir Aneesuddin
There will be no food for them except that from the thorn tree.
Laysa lahum taAAamun illa min dareeAAin
88:7 ›
لَّا يُسْمِنُ وَلَا يُغْنِي مِن جُوعٍ
Mir Aneesuddin
It will neither be nourishable by them nor will it make them free from hunger.
La yusminu wala yughnee min jooAAin
88:8 ›
وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ نَّاعِمَةٌ
Mir Aneesuddin
(Other) faces that day will be happy,
Wujoohun yawma-ithin naAAimatun
88:9 ›
لِّسَعْيِهَا رَاضِيَةٌ
Mir Aneesuddin
pleased on account of the effort they had put in earlier.
LisaAAyiha radiyatun
88:10 ›
فِي جَنَّةٍ عَالِيَةٍ
Mir Aneesuddin
(They will be) in a high garden,
Fee jannatin AAaliyatin
88:11 ›
لَّا تَسْمَعُ فِيهَا لَاغِيَةً
Mir Aneesuddin
therein you will not hear useless talk,
La tasmaAAu feeha laghiyatan
88:12 ›
فِيهَا عَيْنٌ جَارِيَةٌ
Mir Aneesuddin
therein is a flowing spring,
Feeha AAaynun jariyatun
88:13 ›
فِيهَا سُرُرٌ مَّرْفُوعَةٌ
Mir Aneesuddin
therein are raised couches
Feeha sururun marfooAAatun
88:14 ›
وَأَكْوَابٌ مَّوْضُوعَةٌ
Mir Aneesuddin
and drinking cups placed ready (for use)
Waakwabun mawdooAAatun
88:15 ›
وَنَمَارِقُ مَصْفُوفَةٌ
Mir Aneesuddin
and cushions set in rows,
Wanamariqu masfoofatun
88:16 ›
وَزَرَابِيُّ مَبْثُوثَةٌ
Mir Aneesuddin
and carpets spread.
Wazarabiyyu mabthoothatun
88:17 ›
أَفَلَا يَنظُرُونَ إِلَى الْإِبِلِ كَيْفَ خُلِقَتْ
Mir Aneesuddin
So do they not see towards the camel how it is created,
Afala yanthuroona ila al-ibili kayfa khuliqat
88:18 ›
وَإِلَى السَّمَاءِ كَيْفَ رُفِعَتْ
Mir Aneesuddin
and towards the sky how it is raised,
Wa-ila alssama-i kayfa rufiAAat
88:19 ›
وَإِلَى الْجِبَالِ كَيْفَ نُصِبَتْ
Mir Aneesuddin
and towards the mountains how they are rooted
Wa-ila aljibali kayfa nusibat
88:20 ›
وَإِلَى الْأَرْضِ كَيْفَ سُطِحَتْ
Mir Aneesuddin
and towards the earth how it is spread?
Wa-ila al-ardi kayfa sutihat
88:21 ›
فَذَكِّرْ إِنَّمَا أَنتَ مُذَكِّرٌ
Mir Aneesuddin
So remind, you are only to remind.
Fathakkir innama anta muthakkirun
88:22 ›
لَّسْتَ عَلَيْهِم بِمُصَيْطِرٍ
Mir Aneesuddin
You are not in authority over them.
Lasta AAalayhim bimusaytirin
88:23 ›
إِلَّا مَن تَوَلَّىٰ وَكَفَرَ
Mir Aneesuddin
But one who turns away and does not believe,
Illa man tawalla wakafara
88:24 ›
فَيُعَذِّبُهُ اللَّهُ الْعَذَابَ الْأَكْبَرَ
Mir Aneesuddin
so he will be punished by Allah with a great punishment.
FayuAAaththibuhu Allahu alAAathaba al-akbara
88:25 ›
إِنَّ إِلَيْنَا إِيَابَهُمْ
Mir Aneesuddin
Their return is certainly towards Us,
Inna ilayna iyabahum
88:26 ›
ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا حِسَابَهُم
Mir Aneesuddin
then certainly, it is on Us to take their account.
Thumma inna AAalayna hisabahum
