The Heights, The Elevated Places 7:168

وَقَطَّعْنَٰهُمْ waqaṭṭaʿnāhum
And We divided them V
فِى fī
in Prep
ٱلْأَرْضِ l-arḍi
the earth Noun
أُمَمًا umaman
(as) nations Noun
مِّنْهُمُ min'humu
Among them Prep
ٱلصَّٰلِحُونَ l-ṣāliḥūna
(are) the righteous Noun
وَمِنْهُمْ wamin'hum
and among them Prep
دُونَ dūna
(are) other than Noun
ذَٰلِكَ dhālika
that Noun
وَبَلَوْنَٰهُم wabalawnāhum
And We tested them V
بِٱلْحَسَنَٰتِ bil-ḥasanāti
with the good Noun
وَٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِ wal-sayiāti
and the bad Noun
لَعَلَّهُمْ laʿallahum
so that they may Prep
يَرْجِعُونَ yarjiʿūna
return V

We dispersed them over the earth in separate communities- some are righteous and some less so: We tested them with blessings and misfortunes, so that they might all return [to righteousness]

وَقَطَّعۡنَـٰهُمۡ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ أُمَمࣰاۖ مِّنۡهُمُ ٱلصَّـٰلِحُونَ وَمِنۡهُمۡ دُونَ ذَ ٰلِكَۖ وَبَلَوۡنَـٰهُم بِٱلۡحَسَنَـٰتِ وَٱلسَّیِّءَاتِ لَعَلَّهُمۡ یَرۡجِعُونَ ۝١٦٨

waqaṭṭaʿnāhum fī l-arḍi umaman min'humu l-ṣāliḥūna wamin'hum dūna dhālika wabalawnāhum bil-ḥasanāti wal-sayiāti laʿallahum yarjiʿūn
