أَصَٰبِعَهُمْ aṣābiʿahum

ءَاذَانِهِمْ ādhānihim

وَٱسْتَغْشَوْا۟ wa-is'taghshaw
and covered themselves V
ثِيَابَهُمْ thiyābahum
(with) their garments Noun
وَأَصَرُّوا۟ wa-aṣarrū
and persisted V
وَٱسْتَكْبَرُوا۟ wa-is'takbarū
and were arrogant V
ٱسْتِكْبَارًا is'tik'bāran
(with) pride Noun

every time I call them, so that You may forgive them, they thrust their fingers into their ears, cover their heads with their garments, persist in their rejection, and grow more insolent and arrogant

وَإِنِّی كُلَّمَا دَعَوۡتُهُمۡ لِتَغۡفِرَ لَهُمۡ جَعَلُوۤا۟ أَصَـٰبِعَهُمۡ فِیۤ ءَاذَانِهِمۡ وَٱسۡتَغۡشَوۡا۟ ثِیَابَهُمۡ وَأَصَرُّوا۟ وَٱسۡتَكۡبَرُوا۟ ٱسۡتِكۡبَارࣰا ۝٧

wa-innī kullamā daʿawtuhum litaghfira lahum jaʿalū aṣābiʿahum fī ādhānihim wa-is'taghshaw thiyābahum wa-aṣarrū wa-is'takbarū is'tik'bāra
