Hud 11:116 Noun
فَلَوۡلَا كَانَ مِنَ ٱلۡقُرُونِ مِن قَبۡلِكُمۡ أُو۟لُوا۟ بَقِیَّةࣲ یَنۡهَوۡنَ عَنِ ٱلۡفَسَادِ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ إِلَّا قَلِیلࣰا مِّمَّنۡ أَنجَیۡنَا مِنۡهُمۡۗ وَٱتَّبَعَ ٱلَّذِینَ ظَلَمُوا۟ مَاۤ أُتۡرِفُوا۟ فِیهِ وَكَانُوا۟ مُجۡرِمِینَ ۝١١٦
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): So why were there not among the generations before you those of enduring discrimination forbidding corruption on earth - except a few of those We saved from among them? But those who wronged pursued what luxury they were given therein, and they were criminals
Abdel Haleem: If only there had been, among the generations before your time, people with a rem-nant of good sense, to forbid corruption on the earth! We saved only a few of them, while the unjust pursued the enjoyment of plenty, and persisted in sin
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: If only there had been among the generations before you men possessing a remnant (of good sense) to warn (their people) from corruption in the earth, as did a few of those whom We saved from them! The wrong-doers followed that by which they were made sapless, and were guilty
Hud 11:86 Noun
بَقِیَّتُ ٱللَّهِ خَیۡرࣱ لَّكُمۡ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤۡمِنِینَۚ وَمَاۤ أَنَا۠ عَلَیۡكُم بِحَفِیظࣲ ۝٨٦
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): What remains [lawful] from Allah is best for you, if you would be believers. But I am not a guardian over you."
Abdel Haleem: What lasts with God is best for you, if you are believers: I am not your keeper.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: That which Allah leaveth with you is better for you if ye are believers; and I am not a keeper over you
The Bee 16:96 Noun
مَا عِندَكُمۡ یَنفَدُ وَمَا عِندَ ٱللَّهِ بَاقࣲۗ وَلَنَجۡزِیَنَّ ٱلَّذِینَ صَبَرُوۤا۟ أَجۡرَهُم بِأَحۡسَنِ مَا كَانُوا۟ یَعۡمَلُونَ ۝٩٦
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Whatever you have will end, but what Allah has is lasting. And We will surely give those who were patient their reward according to the best of what they used to do
Abdel Haleem: What you have runs out but what God has endures, and We shall certainly reward those who remain steadfast according to the best of their actions
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: That which ye have wasteth away, and that which Allah hath remaineth. And verily We shall pay those who are steadfast a recompense in proportion to the best of what they used to do
The Cave 18:46 Noun
ٱلۡمَالُ وَٱلۡبَنُونَ زِینَةُ ٱلۡحَیَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنۡیَاۖ وَٱلۡبَـٰقِیَـٰتُ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتُ خَیۡرٌ عِندَ رَبِّكَ ثَوَابࣰا وَخَیۡرٌ أَمَلࣰا ۝٤٦
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Wealth and children are [but] adornment of the worldly life. But the enduring good deeds are better to your Lord for reward and better for [one's] hope
Abdel Haleem: Wealth and children are the attractions of this worldly life, but lasting good works have a better reward with your Lord and give better grounds for hope
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Wealth and children are an ornament of the life of the world. But the good deeds which endure are better in thy Lord's sight for reward, and better in respect of hope
Mary 19:76 Noun
وَیَزِیدُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِینَ ٱهۡتَدَوۡا۟ هُدࣰىۗ وَٱلۡبَـٰقِیَـٰتُ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتُ خَیۡرٌ عِندَ رَبِّكَ ثَوَابࣰا وَخَیۡرࣱ مَّرَدًّا ۝٧٦
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And Allah increases those who were guided, in guidance, and the enduring good deeds are better to your Lord for reward and better for recourse
Abdel Haleem: But God gives more guidance to those who are guided, and good deeds of lasting merit are best and most rewarding in your Lord’s sight
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Allah increaseth in right guidance those who walk aright, and the good deeds which endure are better in thy Lord's sight for reward, and better for resort
Ta Ha 20:127 Noun
وَكَذَ ٰلِكَ نَجۡزِی مَنۡ أَسۡرَفَ وَلَمۡ یُؤۡمِنۢ بِءَایَـٰتِ رَبِّهِۦۚ وَلَعَذَابُ ٱلۡءَاخِرَةِ أَشَدُّ وَأَبۡقَىٰۤ ۝١٢٧
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And thus do We recompense he who transgressed and did not believe in the signs of his Lord. And the punishment of the Hereafter is more severe and more enduring
Abdel Haleem: This is how We reward those who go too far, and who do not believe in their Lord’s revelations. The greatest and most enduring punishment is in the Hereafter
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Thus do We reward him who is prodigal and believeth not the revelations of his Lord; and verily the doom of the Hereafter will be sterner and more lasting
Ta Ha 20:131 Noun
وَلَا تَمُدَّنَّ عَیۡنَیۡكَ إِلَىٰ مَا مَتَّعۡنَا بِهِۦۤ أَزۡوَ ٰجࣰا مِّنۡهُمۡ زَهۡرَةَ ٱلۡحَیَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنۡیَا لِنَفۡتِنَهُمۡ فِیهِۚ وَرِزۡقُ رَبِّكَ خَیۡرࣱ وَأَبۡقَىٰ ۝١٣١
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And do not extend your eyes toward that by which We have given enjoyment to [some] categories of them, [its being but] the splendor of worldly life by which We test them. And the provision of your Lord is better and more enduring
Abdel Haleem: and do not gaze longingly at what We have given some of them to enjoy, the finery of this present life: We test them through this, but the provision of your Lord is better and more lasting
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And strain not thine eyes toward that which We cause some wedded pairs among them to enjoy, the flower of the life of the world, that We may try them thereby. The provision of thy Lord is better and more lasting
Ta Ha 20:71 Noun
قَالَ ءَامَنتُمۡ لَهُۥ قَبۡلَ أَنۡ ءَاذَنَ لَكُمۡۖ إِنَّهُۥ لَكَبِیرُكُمُ ٱلَّذِی عَلَّمَكُمُ ٱلسِّحۡرَۖ فَلَأُقَطِّعَنَّ أَیۡدِیَكُمۡ وَأَرۡجُلَكُم مِّنۡ خِلَـٰفࣲ وَلَأُصَلِّبَنَّكُمۡ فِی جُذُوعِ ٱلنَّخۡلِ وَلَتَعۡلَمُنَّ أَیُّنَاۤ أَشَدُّ عَذَابࣰا وَأَبۡقَىٰ ۝٧١
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): [Pharaoh] said, "You believed him before I gave you permission. Indeed, he is your leader who has taught you magic. So I will surely cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, and I will crucify you on the trunks of palm trees, and you will surely know which of us is more severe in [giving] punishment and more enduring."
Abdel Haleem: Pharaoh said, ‘How dare you believe in him before I have given you permission? This must be your master, the man who taught you witchcraft. I shall certainly cut off your alternate hands and feet, then crucify you on the trunks of palm trees. You will know for certain which of us has the fiercer and more lasting punishment.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: (Pharaoh) said: Ye put faith in him before I give you leave. Lo! he is your chief who taught you magic. Now surely I shall cut off your hands and your feet alternately, and I shall crucify you on the trunks of palm trees, and ye shall know for certain which of us hath sterner and more lasting punishment
Ta Ha 20:73 Noun
إِنَّاۤ ءَامَنَّا بِرَبِّنَا لِیَغۡفِرَ لَنَا خَطَـٰیَـٰنَا وَمَاۤ أَكۡرَهۡتَنَا عَلَیۡهِ مِنَ ٱلسِّحۡرِۗ وَٱللَّهُ خَیۡرࣱ وَأَبۡقَىٰۤ ۝٧٣
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Indeed, we have believed in our Lord that He may forgive us our sins and what you compelled us [to do] of magic. And Allah is better and more enduring."
Abdel Haleem: we believe in our Lord, [hoping] He may forgive us our sins and the sorcery that you forced us to practise- God is better and more lasting.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Lo! we believe in our Lord, that He may forgive us our sins and the magic unto which thou didst force us. Allah is better and more lasting
The Poets 26:120 Noun
ثُمَّ أَغۡرَقۡنَا بَعۡدُ ٱلۡبَاقِینَ ۝١٢٠
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Then We drowned thereafter the remaining ones
Abdel Haleem: and drowned the rest
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Then afterward We drowned the others
The Story, Stories, The Narrative 28:60 Noun
وَمَاۤ أُوتِیتُم مِّن شَیۡءࣲ فَمَتَـٰعُ ٱلۡحَیَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنۡیَا وَزِینَتُهَاۚ وَمَا عِندَ ٱللَّهِ خَیۡرࣱ وَأَبۡقَىٰۤۚ أَفَلَا تَعۡقِلُونَ ۝٦٠
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And whatever thing you [people] have been given - it is [only for] the enjoyment of worldly life and its adornment. And what is with Allah is better and more lasting; so will you not use reason
Abdel Haleem: Whatever things you have been given for the life of this world are merely [temporary] gratification and vanity: that which is with God is better and more lasting- will you not use your reason
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And whatsoever ye have been given is a comfort of the life of the world and an ornament thereof; and that which Allah hath is better and more lasting. Have ye then no sense
The Cow 2:248 Noun
وَقَالَ لَهُمۡ نَبِیُّهُمۡ إِنَّ ءَایَةَ مُلۡكِهِۦۤ أَن یَأۡتِیَكُمُ ٱلتَّابُوتُ فِیهِ سَكِینَةࣱ مِّن رَّبِّكُمۡ وَبَقِیَّةࣱ مِّمَّا تَرَكَ ءَالُ مُوسَىٰ وَءَالُ هَـٰرُونَ تَحۡمِلُهُ ٱلۡمَلَـٰۤىِٕكَةُۚ إِنَّ فِی ذَ ٰلِكَ لَءَایَةࣰ لَّكُمۡ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤۡمِنِینَ ۝٢٤٨
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And their prophet said to them, "Indeed, a sign of his kingship is that the chest will come to you in which is assurance from your Lord and a remnant of what the family of Moses and the family of Aaron had left, carried by the angels. Indeed in that is a sign for you, if you are believers."
Abdel Haleem: Their prophet said to them, ‘The sign of his authority will be that the Ark [of the Covenant] will come to you. In it there will be [the gift of] tranquillity from your Lord and relics of the followers of Moses and Aaron, carried by the angels. There is a sign in this for you if you believe.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And their Prophet said unto them: Lo! the token of his kingdom is that there shall come unto you the ark wherein is peace of reassurance from your Lord, and a remnant of that which the house of Moses and the house of Aaron left behind, the angels bearing it. Lo! herein shall be a token for you if (in truth) ye are believers
Those Who Set The Ranks, Drawn up in Ranks, The Rangers 37:77 Noun
وَجَعَلۡنَا ذُرِّیَّتَهُۥ هُمُ ٱلۡبَاقِینَ ۝٧٧
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And We made his descendants those remaining [on the earth]
Abdel Haleem: We let his offspring remain on the earth
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And made his seed the survivors
Council, Consultation, The Counsel 42:36 Noun
فَمَاۤ أُوتِیتُم مِّن شَیۡءࣲ فَمَتَـٰعُ ٱلۡحَیَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنۡیَاۚ وَمَا عِندَ ٱللَّهِ خَیۡرࣱ وَأَبۡقَىٰ لِلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَلَىٰ رَبِّهِمۡ یَتَوَكَّلُونَ ۝٣٦
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): So whatever thing you have been given - it is but [for] enjoyment of the worldly life. But what is with Allah is better and more lasting for those who have believed and upon their Lord rel
Abdel Haleem: What you have been given is only the fleeting enjoyment of this world. Far better and more lasting is what God will give to those who believe and trust in their Lord
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Now whatever ye have been given is but a passing comfort for the life of the world, and that which Allah hath is better and more lasting for those who believe and put their trust in their Lord
Ornaments of Gold, Luxury, The Embellishment 43:28 Noun
وَجَعَلَهَا كَلِمَةَۢ بَاقِیَةࣰ فِی عَقِبِهِۦ لَعَلَّهُمۡ یَرۡجِعُونَ ۝٢٨
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And he made it a word remaining among his descendants that they might return [to it]
Abdel Haleem: and he bequeathed these words to his descendants so that they might return [to God]
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And he made it a word enduring among his seed, that haply they might return
The Reality, The Inevitable 69:8 Noun
فَهَلۡ تَرَىٰ لَهُم مِّنۢ بَاقِیَةࣲ ۝٨
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Then do you see of them any remains
Abdel Haleem: Can you see any trace of them now
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Canst thou (O Muhammad) see any remnant of them
The Most High, Glory to your Lord in the Highest 87:17 Noun
وَالْآخِرَةُ خَيْرٌ وَأَبْقَىٰ
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): While the Hereafter is better and more enduring
Abdel Haleem: even though the Hereafter is better and more lasting
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Although the Hereafter is better and more lasting

The Cow 2:278 Verb
یَـٰۤأَیُّهَا ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَذَرُوا۟ مَا بَقِیَ مِنَ ٱلرِّبَوٰۤا۟ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤۡمِنِینَ ۝٢٧٨
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): O you who have believed, fear Allah and give up what remains [due to you] of interest, if you should be believers
Abdel Haleem: You who believe, beware of God: give up any outstanding dues from usury, if you are true believers
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: O ye who believe! Observe your duty to Allah, and give up what remaineth (due to you) from usury, if ye are (in truth) believers
The Star 53:51 Verb
وَثَمُودَا۟ فَمَاۤ أَبۡقَىٰ ۝٥١
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And Thamud - and He did not spare [them]
Abdel Haleem: and Thamud
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And (the tribe of) Thamud He spared not

وَیَبۡقَىٰ وَجۡهُ رَبِّكَ ذُو ٱلۡجَلَـٰلِ وَٱلۡإِكۡرَامِ ۝٢٧
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And there will remain the Face of your Lord, Owner of Majesty and Honor
Abdel Haleem: all that remains is the Face of your Lord, full of majesty, bestowing honour
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: There remaineth but the Countenance of thy Lord of Might and Glory
The Cloaked One, The Man Wearing a Cloak, The Clothed One 74:28 Verb
لَا تُبۡقِی وَلَا تَذَرُ ۝٢٨
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): It lets nothing remain and leaves nothing [unburned]
Abdel Haleem: It spares nothing and leaves nothing
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: It leaveth naught; it spareth naugh
