قَالَ هِیَ عَصَایَ أَتَوَكَّؤُا۟ عَلَیۡهَا وَأَهُشُّ بِهَا عَلَىٰ غَنَمِی وَلِیَ فِیهَا مَءَارِبُ أُخۡرَىٰ ۝١٨
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): He said, "It is my staff; I lean upon it, and I bring down leaves for my sheep and I have therein other uses."
Abdel Haleem: ‘It is my staff,’ he said, ‘I lean on it; restrain my sheep with it; I also have other uses for it.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: He said: This is my staff whereon I lean, and wherewith I bear down branches for my sheep, and wherein I find other uses
Ta Ha 20:66 Noun
قَالَ بَلۡ أَلۡقُوا۟ۖ فَإِذَا حِبَالُهُمۡ وَعِصِیُّهُمۡ یُخَیَّلُ إِلَیۡهِ مِن سِحۡرِهِمۡ أَنَّهَا تَسۡعَىٰ ۝٦٦
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): He said, "Rather, you throw." And suddenly their ropes and staffs seemed to him from their magic that they were moving [like snakes]
Abdel Haleem: ‘You throw,’ said Moses, and––lo and behold!––through their sorcery, their ropes and staffs seemed to him to be moving
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: He said: Nay, do ye throw! Then lo! their cords and their staves, by their magic, appeared to him as though they ran
The Poets 26:32 Noun
فَأَلۡقَىٰ عَصَاهُ فَإِذَا هِیَ ثُعۡبَانࣱ مُّبِینࣱ ۝٣٢
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): So [Moses] threw his staff, and suddenly it was a serpent manifest
Abdel Haleem: So Moses threw down his staff and- lo and behold!- it became a snake for everyone to see
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Then he flung down his staff and it became a serpent manifest
The Poets 26:44 Noun
فَأَلۡقَوۡا۟ حِبَالَهُمۡ وَعِصِیَّهُمۡ وَقَالُوا۟ بِعِزَّةِ فِرۡعَوۡنَ إِنَّا لَنَحۡنُ ٱلۡغَـٰلِبُونَ ۝٤٤
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): So they threw their ropes and their staffs and said, "By the might of Pharaoh, indeed it is we who are predominant."
Abdel Haleem: They threw their ropes and staffs, saying, ‘By Pharaoh’s might, we shall be victorious.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Then they threw down their cords and their staves and said: By Pharaoh's might, lo! we verily are the winners
The Poets 26:45 Noun
فَأَلۡقَىٰ مُوسَىٰ عَصَاهُ فَإِذَا هِیَ تَلۡقَفُ مَا یَأۡفِكُونَ ۝٤٥
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Then Moses threw his staff, and at once it devoured what they falsified
Abdel Haleem: But Moses threw his staff and- lo and behold!- it swallowed up their tricker
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Then Moses threw his staff and lo! it swallowed that which they did falsely show
The Poets 26:63 Noun
فَأَوۡحَیۡنَاۤ إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰۤ أَنِ ٱضۡرِب بِّعَصَاكَ ٱلۡبَحۡرَۖ فَٱنفَلَقَ فَكَانَ كُلُّ فِرۡقࣲ كَٱلطَّوۡدِ ٱلۡعَظِیمِ ۝٦٣
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Then We inspired to Moses, "Strike with your staff the sea," and it parted, and each portion was like a great towering mountain
Abdel Haleem: and We revealed to Moses: ‘Strike the sea with your staff.’ It parted- each side like a mighty mountain
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Then We inspired Moses, saying: Smite the sea with thy staff. And it parted, and each part was as a mountain vast
The Ant, The Ants 27:10 Noun
وَأَلۡقِ عَصَاكَۚ فَلَمَّا رَءَاهَا تَهۡتَزُّ كَأَنَّهَا جَاۤنࣱّ وَلَّىٰ مُدۡبِرࣰا وَلَمۡ یُعَقِّبۡۚ یَـٰمُوسَىٰ لَا تَخَفۡ إِنِّی لَا یَخَافُ لَدَیَّ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلُونَ ۝١٠
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And [he was told], "Throw down your staff." But when he saw it writhing as if it were a snake, he turned in flight and did not return. [ Allah said], "O Moses, fear not. Indeed, in My presence the messengers do not fear
Abdel Haleem: Throw down your staff,’ but when he saw it moving like a snake, he turned and fled. ‘Moses, do not be afraid! The messengers need have no fear in My presence
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And throw down thy staff! But when he saw it writhing as it were a demon, he turned to flee headlong; (but it was said unto him): O Moses! Fear not! the emissaries fear not in My presence
The Story, Stories, The Narrative 28:31 Noun
وَأَنۡ أَلۡقِ عَصَاكَۚ فَلَمَّا رَءَاهَا تَهۡتَزُّ كَأَنَّهَا جَاۤنࣱّ وَلَّىٰ مُدۡبِرࣰا وَلَمۡ یُعَقِّبۡۚ یَـٰمُوسَىٰۤ أَقۡبِلۡ وَلَا تَخَفۡۖ إِنَّكَ مِنَ ٱلۡءَامِنِینَ ۝٣١
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And [he was told], "Throw down your staff." But when he saw it writhing as if it was a snake, he turned in flight and did not return. [ Allah said], "O Moses, approach and fear not. Indeed, you are of the secure
Abdel Haleem: Throw down your staff.’ When he saw his staff moving like a snake, he fled in fear and would not return. Again [he was called]: ‘Moses! Draw near! Do not be afraid, for you are one of those who are safe
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Throw down thy staff. And when he saw it writhing as it had been a demon, he turned to flee headlong, (and it was said unto him): O Moses! Draw nigh and fear not. Lo! thou art of those who are secure
The Cow 2:60 Noun
۞ وَإِذِ ٱسۡتَسۡقَىٰ مُوسَىٰ لِقَوۡمِهِۦ فَقُلۡنَا ٱضۡرِب بِّعَصَاكَ ٱلۡحَجَرَۖ فَٱنفَجَرَتۡ مِنۡهُ ٱثۡنَتَا عَشۡرَةَ عَیۡنࣰاۖ قَدۡ عَلِمَ كُلُّ أُنَاسࣲ مَّشۡرَبَهُمۡۖ كُلُوا۟ وَٱشۡرَبُوا۟ مِن رِّزۡقِ ٱللَّهِ وَلَا تَعۡثَوۡا۟ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ مُفۡسِدِینَ ۝٦٠
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And [recall] when Moses prayed for water for his people, so We said, "Strike with your staff the stone." And there gushed forth from it twelve springs, and every people knew its watering place. "Eat and drink from the provision of Allah , and do not commit abuse on the earth, spreading corruption."
Abdel Haleem: Remember when Moses prayed for water for his people and We said to him, ‘Strike the rock with your staff.’ Twelve springs gushed out, and each group knew its drinking place. ‘Eat and drink the sustenance God has provided and do not cause corruption in the land.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And when Moses asked for water for his people, We said: Smite with thy staff the rock. And there gushed out therefrom twelve springs (so that) each tribe knew their drinking-place. Eat and drink of that which Allah hath provided, and do not act corruptly, making mischief in the earth
The Heights, The Elevated Places 7:107 Noun
فَأَلۡقَىٰ عَصَاهُ فَإِذَا هِیَ ثُعۡبَانࣱ مُّبِینࣱ ۝١٠٧
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): So Moses threw his staff, and suddenly it was a serpent, manifest
Abdel Haleem: So Moses threw his staff and- lo and behold!- it was a snake, clear to all
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Then he flung down his staff and lo! it was a serpent manifest
The Heights, The Elevated Places 7:117 Noun
۞ وَأَوۡحَیۡنَاۤ إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰۤ أَنۡ أَلۡقِ عَصَاكَۖ فَإِذَا هِیَ تَلۡقَفُ مَا یَأۡفِكُونَ ۝١١٧
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And We inspired to Moses, "Throw your staff," and at once it devoured what they were falsifying
Abdel Haleem: Then We inspired Moses, ‘Throw your staff,’ and- lo and behold!––it devoured their fakery
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And We inspired Moses (saying): Throw thy staff! And lo! it swallowed up their lying show
The Heights, The Elevated Places 7:160 Noun
وَقَطَّعۡنَـٰهُمُ ٱثۡنَتَیۡ عَشۡرَةَ أَسۡبَاطًا أُمَمࣰاۚ وَأَوۡحَیۡنَاۤ إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰۤ إِذِ ٱسۡتَسۡقَىٰهُ قَوۡمُهُۥۤ أَنِ ٱضۡرِب بِّعَصَاكَ ٱلۡحَجَرَۖ فَٱنۢبَجَسَتۡ مِنۡهُ ٱثۡنَتَا عَشۡرَةَ عَیۡنࣰاۖ قَدۡ عَلِمَ كُلُّ أُنَاسࣲ مَّشۡرَبَهُمۡۚ وَظَلَّلۡنَا عَلَیۡهِمُ ٱلۡغَمَـٰمَ وَأَنزَلۡنَا عَلَیۡهِمُ ٱلۡمَنَّ وَٱلسَّلۡوَىٰۖ كُلُوا۟ مِن طَیِّبَـٰتِ مَا رَزَقۡنَـٰكُمۡۚ وَمَا ظَلَمُونَا وَلَـٰكِن كَانُوۤا۟ أَنفُسَهُمۡ یَظۡلِمُونَ ۝١٦٠
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And We divided them into twelve descendant tribes [as distinct] nations. And We inspired to Moses when his people implored him for water, "Strike with your staff the stone," and there gushed forth from it twelve springs. Every people knew its watering place. And We shaded them with clouds and sent down upon them manna and quails, [saying], "Eat from the good things with which We have provided you." And they wronged Us not, but they were [only] wronging themselves
Abdel Haleem: We divided them into twelve tribes [as distinct] communities, and, when his people asked him for water, inspired Moses to strike the rock with his staff [so that] twelve springs gushed out. Each tribe knew its own drinking place; We gave them the shade of clouds and sent down to them manna and quails [saying], ‘Eat the good things We have provided for you.’ They did not wrong Us; it was themselves they wronged
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: We divided them into twelve tribes, nations; and We inspired Moses, when his people asked him for water, saying: Smite with thy staff the rock! And there gushed forth therefrom twelve springs, so that each tribe knew their drinking-place. And we caused the white cloud to overshadow them and sent down for them the manna and the quails (saying): Eat of the good things wherewith we have provided you. They wronged Us not, but they were wont to wrong themselves
