Ta Ha 20:96 Verb
قَالَ بَصُرۡتُ بِمَا لَمۡ یَبۡصُرُوا۟ بِهِۦ فَقَبَضۡتُ قَبۡضَةࣰ مِّنۡ أَثَرِ ٱلرَّسُولِ فَنَبَذۡتُهَا وَكَذَ ٰلِكَ سَوَّلَتۡ لِی نَفۡسِی ۝٩٦
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): He said, "I saw what they did not see, so I took a handful [of dust] from the track of the messenger and threw it, and thus did my soul entice me."
Abdel Haleem: He replied, ‘I saw something they did not; I took in some of the teachings of the Messenger but tossed them aside: my soul prompted me to do what I did.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: He said: I perceived what they perceive not, so I seized a handful from the footsteps of the messenger, and then threw it in. Thus my soul commended to me
The Criterion, The Standard 25:46 Verb
ثُمَّ قَبَضۡنَـٰهُ إِلَیۡنَا قَبۡضࣰا یَسِیرࣰا ۝٤٦
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Then We hold it in hand for a brief grasp
Abdel Haleem: but We gradually draw it towards Us, little by little
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Then We withdraw it unto Us, a gradual withdrawal
The Cow 2:245 Verb
مَّن ذَا ٱلَّذِی یُقۡرِضُ ٱللَّهَ قَرۡضًا حَسَنࣰا فَیُضَـٰعِفَهُۥ لَهُۥۤ أَضۡعَافࣰا كَثِیرَةࣰۚ وَٱللَّهُ یَقۡبِضُ وَیَبۡصُۜطُ وَإِلَیۡهِ تُرۡجَعُونَ ۝٢٤٥
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Who is it that would loan Allah a goodly loan so He may multiply it for him many times over? And it is Allah who withholds and grants abundance, and to Him you will be returned
Abdel Haleem: Who will give God a good loan, which He will increase for him many times over? It is God who withholds and God who gives abundantly, and it is to Him that you will return
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Who is it that will lend unto Allah a goodly loan, so that He may give it increase manifold? Allah straiteneth and enlargeth. Unto Him ye will return
The Sovereignty, Control, The Kingdom 67:19 Verb
أَوَ لَمۡ یَرَوۡا۟ إِلَى ٱلطَّیۡرِ فَوۡقَهُمۡ صَـٰۤفَّـٰتࣲ وَیَقۡبِضۡنَۚ مَا یُمۡسِكُهُنَّ إِلَّا ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنُۚ إِنَّهُۥ بِكُلِّ شَیۡءِۭ بَصِیرٌ ۝١٩
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Do they not see the birds above them with wings outspread and [sometimes] folded in? None holds them [aloft] except the Most Merciful. Indeed He is, of all things, Seeing
Abdel Haleem: Do they not see the birds above them spreading and closing their wings? It is only the Lord of Mercy who holds them up: He watches over everything
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Have they not seen the birds above them spreading out their wings and closing them? Naught upholdeth them save the Beneficent. Lo! He is Seer of all things
Repentance 9:67 Verb
ٱلۡمُنَـٰفِقُونَ وَٱلۡمُنَـٰفِقَـٰتُ بَعۡضُهُم مِّنۢ بَعۡضࣲۚ یَأۡمُرُونَ بِٱلۡمُنكَرِ وَیَنۡهَوۡنَ عَنِ ٱلۡمَعۡرُوفِ وَیَقۡبِضُونَ أَیۡدِیَهُمۡۚ نَسُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ فَنَسِیَهُمۡۚ إِنَّ ٱلۡمُنَـٰفِقِینَ هُمُ ٱلۡفَـٰسِقُونَ ۝٦٧
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): The hypocrite men and hypocrite women are of one another. They enjoin what is wrong and forbid what is right and close their hands. They have forgotten Allah , so He has forgotten them [accordingly]. Indeed, the hypocrites - it is they who are the defiantly disobedient
Abdel Haleem: The hypocrites, both men and women, are all the same: they order what is wrong and forbid what is right; they are tight-fisted. They have ignored God, so He has ignored them. The hypocrites are the disobedient ones
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: The hypocrites, both men and women, proceed one from another. They enjoin the wrong, and they forbid the right, and they withhold their hands (from spending for the cause of Allah). They forget Allah, so He hath forgotten them. Lo! the hypocrites, they are the transgressors

۞ وَإِن كُنتُمۡ عَلَىٰ سَفَرࣲ وَلَمۡ تَجِدُوا۟ كَاتِبࣰا فَرِهَـٰنࣱ مَّقۡبُوضَةࣱۖ فَإِنۡ أَمِنَ بَعۡضُكُم بَعۡضࣰا فَلۡیُؤَدِّ ٱلَّذِی ٱؤۡتُمِنَ أَمَـٰنَتَهُۥ وَلۡیَتَّقِ ٱللَّهَ رَبَّهُۥۗ وَلَا تَكۡتُمُوا۟ ٱلشَّهَـٰدَةَۚ وَمَن یَكۡتُمۡهَا فَإِنَّهُۥۤ ءَاثِمࣱ قَلۡبُهُۥۗ وَٱللَّهُ بِمَا تَعۡمَلُونَ عَلِیمࣱ ۝٢٨٣
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And if you are on a journey and cannot find a scribe, then a security deposit [should be] taken. And if one of you entrusts another, then let him who is entrusted discharge his trust [faithfully] and let him fear Allah , his Lord. And do not conceal testimony, for whoever conceals it - his heart is indeed sinful, and Allah is Knowing of what you do
Abdel Haleem: If you are on a journey, and cannot find a scribe, something should be handed over as security, but if you decide to trust one another, then let the one who is trusted fulfil his trust; let him be mindful of God, his Lord. Do not conceal evidence: anyone who does so has a sinful heart, and God is fully aware of everything you do
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: If ye be on a journey and cannot find a scribe, then a pledge in hand (shall suffice). And if one of you entrusteth to another let him who is trusted deliver up that which is entrusted to him (according to the pact between them) and let him observe his duty to Allah his Lord. Hide not testimony. He who hideth it, verily his heart is sinful. Allah is Aware of what ye do
The Troops, Throngs, The Companies 39:67 Noun
وَمَا قَدَرُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ حَقَّ قَدۡرِهِۦ وَٱلۡأَرۡضُ جَمِیعࣰا قَبۡضَتُهُۥ یَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِیَـٰمَةِ وَٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتُ مَطۡوِیَّـٰتُۢ بِیَمِینِهِۦۚ سُبۡحَـٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَـٰلَىٰ عَمَّا یُشۡرِكُونَ ۝٦٧
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): They have not appraised Allah with true appraisal, while the earth entirely will be [within] His grip on the Day of Resurrection, and the heavens will be folded in His right hand. Exalted is He and high above what they associate with Him
Abdel Haleem: These people have no grasp of God’s true measure. On the Day of Resurrection, the whole earth will be in His grip. The heavens will be rolled up in His right hand- Glory be to Him! He is far above the partners they ascribe to Him!
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And they esteem not Allah as He hath the right to be esteemed, when the whole earth is His handful on the Day of Resurrection, and the heavens are rolled in His right hand. Glorified is He and High Exalted from all that they ascribe as partner (unto Him)
