Verb (5 verses)
فَلَمَّا كَشَفۡنَا عَنۡهُمُ ٱلۡعَذَابَ إِذَا هُمۡ یَنكُثُونَ ٥٠
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International):
But when We removed from them the affliction, at once they broke their word
Abdel Haleem:
but as soon as We relieved their torment they broke their word
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall:
But when We eased them of the torment, behold! they broke their word
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِینَ یُبَایِعُونَكَ إِنَّمَا یُبَایِعُونَ ٱللَّهَ یَدُ ٱللَّهِ فَوۡقَ أَیۡدِیهِمۡۚ فَمَن نَّكَثَ فَإِنَّمَا یَنكُثُ عَلَىٰ نَفۡسِهِۦۖ وَمَنۡ أَوۡفَىٰ بِمَا عَـٰهَدَ عَلَیۡهُ ٱللَّهَ فَسَیُؤۡتِیهِ أَجۡرًا عَظِیمࣰا ١٠
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International):
Indeed, those who pledge allegiance to you, [O Muhammad] - they are actually pledging allegiance to Allah . The hand of Allah is over their hands. So he who breaks his word only breaks it to the detriment of himself. And he who fulfills that which he has promised Allah - He will give him a great reward
Abdel Haleem:
Those who pledge loyalty to you [Prophet] are actually pledging loyalty to God Himself- God’s hand is placed on theirs––and anyone who breaks his pledge does so to his own detriment: God will give a great reward to the one who fulfils his pledge to Him
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall:
Lo! those who swear allegiance unto thee (Muhammad), swear allegiance only unto Allah. The Hand of Allah is above their hands. So whosoever breaketh his oath, breaketh it only to his soul's hurt; while whosoever keepeth his covenant with Allah, on him will He bestow immense reward
فَلَمَّا كَشَفۡنَا عَنۡهُمُ ٱلرِّجۡزَ إِلَىٰۤ أَجَلٍ هُم بَـٰلِغُوهُ إِذَا هُمۡ یَنكُثُونَ ١٣٥
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International):
But when We removed the punishment from them until a term which they were to reach, then at once they broke their word
Abdel Haleem:
but when We relieved them of the plague and gave them a fixed period [in which to fulfil their promise]- lo and behold!- they broke it
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall:
But when We did remove from them the terror for a term which they must reach, behold! they broke their covenant
Repentance 9:12
Verb
وَإِن نَّكَثُوۤا۟ أَیۡمَـٰنَهُم مِّنۢ بَعۡدِ عَهۡدِهِمۡ وَطَعَنُوا۟ فِی دِینِكُمۡ فَقَـٰتِلُوۤا۟ أَىِٕمَّةَ ٱلۡكُفۡرِ إِنَّهُمۡ لَاۤ أَیۡمَـٰنَ لَهُمۡ لَعَلَّهُمۡ یَنتَهُونَ ١٢
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International):
And if they break their oaths after their treaty and defame your religion, then fight the leaders of disbelief, for indeed, there are no oaths [sacred] to them; [fight them that] they might cease
Abdel Haleem:
But if they break their oath after having made an agreement with you, if they revile your religion, then fight the leaders of disbelief- oaths mean nothing to them- so that they may stop
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall:
And if they break their pledges after their treaty (hath been made with you) and assail your religion, then fight the heads of disbelief - Lo! they have no binding oaths - in order that they may desist
Repentance 9:13
Verb
أَلَا تُقَـٰتِلُونَ قَوۡمࣰا نَّكَثُوۤا۟ أَیۡمَـٰنَهُمۡ وَهَمُّوا۟ بِإِخۡرَاجِ ٱلرَّسُولِ وَهُم بَدَءُوكُمۡ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍۚ أَتَخۡشَوۡنَهُمۡۚ فَٱللَّهُ أَحَقُّ أَن تَخۡشَوۡهُ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤۡمِنِینَ ١٣
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International):
Would you not fight a people who broke their oaths and determined to expel the Messenger, and they had begun [the attack upon] you the first time? Do you fear them? But Allah has more right that you should fear Him, if you are [truly] believers
Abdel Haleem:
How could you not fight a people who have broken their oaths, who tried to drive the Messenger out, who attacked you first? Do you fear them? It is God you should fear if you are true believers
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall:
Will ye not fight a folk who broke their solemn pledges, and purposed to drive out the messenger and did attack you first? What! Fear ye them? Now Allah hath more right that ye should fear Him, if ye are believer

The Bee 16:92
Noun
وَلَا تَكُونُوا۟ كَٱلَّتِی نَقَضَتۡ غَزۡلَهَا مِنۢ بَعۡدِ قُوَّةٍ أَنكَـٰثࣰا تَتَّخِذُونَ أَیۡمَـٰنَكُمۡ دَخَلَۢا بَیۡنَكُمۡ أَن تَكُونَ أُمَّةٌ هِیَ أَرۡبَىٰ مِنۡ أُمَّةٍۚ إِنَّمَا یَبۡلُوكُمُ ٱللَّهُ بِهِۦۚ وَلَیُبَیِّنَنَّ لَكُمۡ یَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِیَـٰمَةِ مَا كُنتُمۡ فِیهِ تَخۡتَلِفُونَ ٩٢
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International):
And do not be like she who untwisted her spun thread after it was strong [by] taking your oaths as [means of] deceit between you because one community is more plentiful [in number or wealth] than another community. Allah only tries you thereby. And He will surely make clear to you on the Day of Resurrection that over which you used to differ
Abdel Haleem:
Do not use your oaths to deceive each other- like a woman who unravels the thread she has firmly spun- just because one party may be more numerous than another. God tests you with this, and on the Day of the Resurrection He will make clear to you those things you differed about
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall:
And be not like unto her who unravelleth the thread, after she hath made it strong, to thin filaments, making your oaths a deceit between you because of a nation being more numerous than (another) nation. Allah only trieth you thereby, and He verily will explain to you on the Day of Resurrection that wherein ye differed
