Verse 15:77 in Context

73
فَأَخَذَتۡهُمُ ٱلصَّیۡحَةُ مُشۡرِقِینَ ٧٣
fa-akhadhathumu l-ṣayḥatu mush'riqīn
and the blast overtook them at sunrise
74
فَجَعَلۡنَا عَـٰلِیَهَا سَافِلَهَا وَأَمۡطَرۡنَا عَلَیۡهِمۡ حِجَارَةࣰ مِّن سِجِّیلٍ ٧٤
fajaʿalnā ʿāliyahā sāfilahā wa-amṭarnā ʿalayhim ḥijāratan min sijjīli
We turned their city upside down and rained on them a shower of clay stones
75
إِنَّ فِی ذَ ٰلِكَ لَءَایَـٰتࣲ لِّلۡمُتَوَسِّمِینَ ٧٥
inna fī dhālika laāyātin lil'mutawassimīn
There truly is a sign in this for those who can learn
76
وَإِنَّهَا لَبِسَبِیلࣲ مُّقِیمٍ ٧٦
wa-innahā labisabīlin muqīmi
it is still there on the highway
77
إِنَّ فِی ذَ ٰلِكَ لَءَایَةࣰ لِّلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ ٧٧
inna fī dhālika laāyatan lil'mu'minīn
there truly is a sign in this for those who believe
78
وَإِن كَانَ أَصۡحَـٰبُ ٱلۡأَیۡكَةِ لَظَـٰلِمِینَ ٧٨
wa-in kāna aṣḥābu l-aykati laẓālimīn
The forest-dwellers, too, were wrongdoer
79
فَٱنتَقَمۡنَا مِنۡهُمۡ وَإِنَّهُمَا لَبِإِمَامࣲ مُّبِینࣲ ٧٩
fa-intaqamnā min'hum wa-innahumā labi-imāmin mubīni
and We took retribution on them; both are still there on the highway, plain for all to see
80
وَلَقَدۡ كَذَّبَ أَصۡحَـٰبُ ٱلۡحِجۡرِ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِینَ ٨٠
walaqad kadhaba aṣḥābu l-ḥij'ri l-mur'salīn
The people of al-Hijr also rejected Our messengers
81
وَءَاتَیۡنَـٰهُمۡ ءَایَـٰتِنَا فَكَانُوا۟ عَنۡهَا مُعۡرِضِینَ ٨١
waātaynāhum āyātinā fakānū ʿanhā muʿ'riḍīn
We gave them Our signs, but they turned their backs
