كَذَّبَتۡ ثَمُودُ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِینَ ١٤١
kadhabat thamūdu l-mur'salīn
The people of Thamud, too, called the messengers liars
142
إِذۡ قَالَ لَهُمۡ أَخُوهُمۡ صَـٰلِحٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ ١٤٢
idh qāla lahum akhūhum ṣāliḥun alā tattaqūn
Their brother Salih said to them, ‘Will you not be mindful of God
143
إِنِّی لَكُمۡ رَسُولٌ أَمِینࣱ ١٤٣
innī lakum rasūlun amīnu
I am a faithful messenger to you
144
فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِیعُونِ ١٤٤
fa-ittaqū l-laha wa-aṭīʿūn
be mindful of God and obey me
145
وَمَاۤ أَسۡءَلُكُمۡ عَلَیۡهِ مِنۡ أَجۡرٍۖ إِنۡ أَجۡرِیَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ ١٤٥
wamā asalukum ʿalayhi min ajrin in ajriya illā ʿalā rabbi l-ʿālamīn
I ask no reward from you, for my only reward is with the Lord of the Worlds
146
أَتُتۡرَكُونَ فِی مَا هَـٰهُنَاۤ ءَامِنِینَ ١٤٦
atut'rakūna fī mā hāhunā āminīn
[Do you think] you will be left secure for ever in what you have here
147
فِی جَنَّـٰتࣲ وَعُیُونࣲ ١٤٧
fī jannātin waʿuyūni
gardens, springs
148
وَزُرُوعࣲ وَنَخۡلࣲ طَلۡعُهَا هَضِیمࣱ ١٤٨
wazurūʿin wanakhlin ṭalʿuhā haḍīmu
fields, palm trees laden with fruit
149
وَتَنۡحِتُونَ مِنَ ٱلۡجِبَالِ بُیُوتࣰا فَـٰرِهِینَ ١٤٩
watanḥitūna mina l-jibāli buyūtan fārihīn
carving your fine houses from the mountains
