69 وَٱتۡلُ عَلَیۡهِمۡ نَبَأَ إِبۡرَ ٰهِیمَ ۝٦٩ wa-ut'lu ʿalayhim naba-a ib'rāhīm Tell them the story of Abraham 70 إِذۡ قَالَ لِأَبِیهِ وَقَوۡمِهِۦ مَا تَعۡبُدُونَ ۝٧٠ idh qāla li-abīhi waqawmihi mā taʿbudūn when he asked his father and his people, ‘What do you worship?’ 71 قَالُوا۟ نَعۡبُدُ أَصۡنَامࣰا فَنَظَلُّ لَهَا عَـٰكِفِینَ ۝٧١ qālū naʿbudu aṣnāman fanaẓallu lahā ʿākifīn They said, ‘We worship idols, and are constantly in attendance on them.’ 72 قَالَ هَلۡ یَسۡمَعُونَكُمۡ إِذۡ تَدۡعُونَ ۝٧٢ qāla hal yasmaʿūnakum idh tadʿūn He asked, ‘Do they hear you when you call
73 أَوۡ یَنفَعُونَكُمۡ أَوۡ یَضُرُّونَ ۝٧٣ aw yanfaʿūnakum aw yaḍurrūn Do they help or harm you?’
74 قَالُوا۟ بَلۡ وَجَدۡنَاۤ ءَابَاۤءَنَا كَذَ ٰلِكَ یَفۡعَلُونَ ۝٧٤ qālū bal wajadnā ābāanā kadhālika yafʿalūn They replied, ‘No, but this is what we saw our fathers doing.’ 75 قَالَ أَفَرَءَیۡتُم مَّا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡبُدُونَ ۝٧٥ qāla afara-aytum mā kuntum taʿbudūn Abraham said, ‘Those idols you have worshipped 76 أَنتُمۡ وَءَابَاۤؤُكُمُ ٱلۡأَقۡدَمُونَ ۝٧٦ antum waābāukumu l-aqdamūn you and your forefathers 77 فَإِنَّهُمۡ عَدُوࣱّ لِّیۤ إِلَّا رَبَّ ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ ۝٧٧ fa-innahum ʿaduwwun lī illā rabba l-ʿālamīn are my enemies; not so the Lord of the Worlds
