Verse 27:30 in Context

26 ٱللَّهُ لَاۤ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ رَبُّ ٱلۡعَرۡشِ ٱلۡعَظِیمِ ۝٢٦ ۩ al-lahu lā ilāha illā huwa rabbu l-ʿarshi l-ʿaẓīm He is God, there is no god but Him, the Lord of the mighty throne.’ 27 ۞ قَالَ سَنَنظُرُ أَصَدَقۡتَ أَمۡ كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلۡكَـٰذِبِینَ ۝٢٧ qāla sananẓuru aṣadaqta am kunta mina l-kādhibīn Solomon said, ‘We shall see whether you are telling the truth or lying 28 ٱذۡهَب بِّكِتَـٰبِی هَـٰذَا فَأَلۡقِهۡ إِلَیۡهِمۡ ثُمَّ تَوَلَّ عَنۡهُمۡ فَٱنظُرۡ مَاذَا یَرۡجِعُونَ ۝٢٨ idh'hab bikitābī hādhā fa-alqih ilayhim thumma tawalla ʿanhum fa-unẓur mādhā yarjiʿūn Take this letter of mine and deliver it to them, then withdraw and see what answer they send back.’ 29 قَالَتۡ یَـٰۤأَیُّهَا ٱلۡمَلَؤُا۟ إِنِّیۤ أُلۡقِیَ إِلَیَّ كِتَـٰبࣱ كَرِیمٌ ۝٢٩ qālat yāayyuhā l-mala-u innī ul'qiya ilayya kitābun karīmu The Queen of Sheba said, ‘Counsellors, a gracious letter has been delivered to me
30 إِنَّهُۥ مِن سُلَیۡمَـٰنَ وَإِنَّهُۥ بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِیمِ ۝٣٠ innahu min sulaymāna wa-innahu bis'mi l-lahi l-raḥmāni l-raḥīm It is from Solomon, and it says, “In the name of God, the Lord of Mercy, the Giver of Mercy
31 أَلَّا تَعۡلُوا۟ عَلَیَّ وَأۡتُونِی مُسۡلِمِینَ ۝٣١ allā taʿlū ʿalayya watūnī mus'limīn do not put yourselves above me, and come to me in submission to God.”’ 32 قَالَتۡ یَـٰۤأَیُّهَا ٱلۡمَلَؤُا۟ أَفۡتُونِی فِیۤ أَمۡرِی مَا كُنتُ قَاطِعَةً أَمۡرًا حَتَّىٰ تَشۡهَدُونِ ۝٣٢ qālat yāayyuhā l-mala-u aftūnī fī amrī mā kuntu qāṭiʿatan amran ḥattā tashhadūn She said, ‘Counsellors, give me your counsel in the matter I now face: I only ever decide on matters in your presence.’ 33 قَالُوا۟ نَحۡنُ أُو۟لُوا۟ قُوَّةࣲ وَأُو۟لُوا۟ بَأۡسࣲ شَدِیدࣲ وَٱلۡأَمۡرُ إِلَیۡكِ فَٱنظُرِی مَاذَا تَأۡمُرِینَ ۝٣٣ qālū naḥnu ulū quwwatin wa-ulū basin shadīdin wal-amru ilayki fa-unẓurī mādhā tamurīn They replied, ‘We possess great force and power in war, but you are in command, so consider what orders to give us.’ 34 قَالَتۡ إِنَّ ٱلۡمُلُوكَ إِذَا دَخَلُوا۟ قَرۡیَةً أَفۡسَدُوهَا وَجَعَلُوۤا۟ أَعِزَّةَ أَهۡلِهَاۤ أَذِلَّةࣰۚ وَكَذَ ٰلِكَ یَفۡعَلُونَ ۝٣٤ qālat inna l-mulūka idhā dakhalū qaryatan afsadūhā wajaʿalū aʿizzata ahlihā adhillatan wakadhālika yafʿalūn She said, ‘Whenever kings go into a city, they ruin it and humiliate its leaders- that is what they do
