41
وَلَقَدۡ جَاۤءَ ءَالَ فِرۡعَوۡنَ ٱلنُّذُرُ ٤١
walaqad jāa āla fir'ʿawna l-nudhur
The people of Pharaoh also received warnings
42
كَذَّبُوا۟ بِءَایَـٰتِنَا كُلِّهَا فَأَخَذۡنَـٰهُمۡ أَخۡذَ عَزِیزࣲ مُّقۡتَدِرٍ ٤٢
kadhabū biāyātinā kullihā fa-akhadhnāhum akhdha ʿazīzin muq'tadiri
They rejected all Our signs so We seized them with all Our might and power
43
أَكُفَّارُكُمۡ خَیۡرࣱ مِّنۡ أُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكُمۡ أَمۡ لَكُم بَرَاۤءَةࣱ فِی ٱلزُّبُرِ ٤٣
akuffārukum khayrun min ulāikum am lakum barāatun fī l-zubur
‘Are your disbelievers any better than these? Were you given an exemption in the Scripture?’
44
أَمۡ یَقُولُونَ نَحۡنُ جَمِیعࣱ مُّنتَصِرࣱ ٤٤
am yaqūlūna naḥnu jamīʿun muntaṣiru
Do they perhaps say, ‘We are a great army and we shall be victorious’
45
سَیُهۡزَمُ ٱلۡجَمۡعُ وَیُوَلُّونَ ٱلدُّبُرَ ٤٥
sayuh'zamu l-jamʿu wayuwallūna l-dubur
Their forces will be routed and they will turn tail and flee
46
بَلِ ٱلسَّاعَةُ مَوۡعِدُهُمۡ وَٱلسَّاعَةُ أَدۡهَىٰ وَأَمَرُّ ٤٦
bali l-sāʿatu mawʿiduhum wal-sāʿatu adhā wa-amarr
But the Hour is their appointed time- the Hour is more severe and bitter
47
إِنَّ ٱلۡمُجۡرِمِینَ فِی ضَلَـٰلࣲ وَسُعُرࣲ ٤٧
inna l-muj'rimīna fī ḍalālin wasuʿuri
truly the wicked are misguided and quite insane––
48
یَوۡمَ یُسۡحَبُونَ فِی ٱلنَّارِ عَلَىٰ وُجُوهِهِمۡ ذُوقُوا۟ مَسَّ سَقَرَ ٤٨
yawma yus'ḥabūna fī l-nāri ʿalā wujūhihim dhūqū massa saqar
on the Day when they are dragged on their faces in Hell. ‘Feel the touch of Hell.’
49
إِنَّا كُلَّ شَیۡءٍ خَلَقۡنَـٰهُ بِقَدَرࣲ ٤٩
innā kulla shayin khalaqnāhu biqadari
We have created all things in due measure
