42
فِی سَمُومࣲ وَحَمِیمࣲ ٤٢
fī samūmin waḥamīmi
They will dwell amid scorching wind and scalding wate
43
وَظِلࣲّ مِّن یَحۡمُومࣲ ٤٣
waẓillin min yaḥmūmi
in the shadow of black smoke
44
لَّا بَارِدࣲ وَلَا كَرِیمٍ ٤٤
lā bāridin walā karīmi
neither cool nor refreshing
45
إِنَّهُمۡ كَانُوا۟ قَبۡلَ ذَ ٰلِكَ مُتۡرَفِینَ ٤٥
innahum kānū qabla dhālika mut'rafīn
Before, they overindulged in luxur
46
وَكَانُوا۟ یُصِرُّونَ عَلَى ٱلۡحِنثِ ٱلۡعَظِیمِ ٤٦
wakānū yuṣirrūna ʿalā l-ḥinthi l-ʿaẓīm
and persisted in great sin
47
وَكَانُوا۟ یَقُولُونَ أَىِٕذَا مِتۡنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابࣰا وَعِظَـٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَبۡعُوثُونَ ٤٧
wakānū yaqūlūna a-idhā mit'nā wakunnā turāban waʿiẓāman a-innā lamabʿūthūn
always saying, ‘What? When we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we then be raised up
48
أَوَ ءَابَاۤؤُنَا ٱلۡأَوَّلُونَ ٤٨
awaābāunā l-awalūn
And our earliest forefathers too?’
49
قُلۡ إِنَّ ٱلۡأَوَّلِینَ وَٱلۡءَاخِرِینَ ٤٩
qul inna l-awalīna wal-ākhirīn
Say [Prophet], ‘The earliest and latest generation
50
لَمَجۡمُوعُونَ إِلَىٰ مِیقَـٰتِ یَوۡمࣲ مَّعۡلُومࣲ ٥٠
lamajmūʿūna ilā mīqāti yawmin maʿlūmi
will all be gathered on a predetermined Da
