Verse 7:103 in Context

99 أَفَأَمِنُوا۟ مَكۡرَ ٱللَّهِۚ فَلَا یَأۡمَنُ مَكۡرَ ٱللَّهِ إِلَّا ٱلۡقَوۡمُ ٱلۡخَـٰسِرُونَ ۝٩٩ afa-aminū makra l-lahi falā yamanu makra l-lahi illā l-qawmu l-khāsirūn Do they feel secure against God’s plan? Only the losers feel secure against God’s plan 100 أَوَ لَمۡ یَهۡدِ لِلَّذِینَ یَرِثُونَ ٱلۡأَرۡضَ مِنۢ بَعۡدِ أَهۡلِهَاۤ أَن لَّوۡ نَشَاۤءُ أَصَبۡنَـٰهُم بِذُنُوبِهِمۡۚ وَنَطۡبَعُ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِمۡ فَهُمۡ لَا یَسۡمَعُونَ ۝١٠٠ awalam yahdi lilladhīna yarithūna l-arḍa min baʿdi ahlihā an law nashāu aṣabnāhum bidhunūbihim wanaṭbaʿu ʿalā qulūbihim fahum lā yasmaʿūn Is it not clear to those who inherit the land from former generations that We can punish them too for their sins if We will? And seal up their hearts so that they cannot hear 101 تِلۡكَ ٱلۡقُرَىٰ نَقُصُّ عَلَیۡكَ مِنۡ أَنۢبَاۤىِٕهَاۚ وَلَقَدۡ جَاۤءَتۡهُمۡ رُسُلُهُم بِٱلۡبَیِّنَـٰتِ فَمَا كَانُوا۟ لِیُؤۡمِنُوا۟ بِمَا كَذَّبُوا۟ مِن قَبۡلُۚ كَذَ ٰلِكَ یَطۡبَعُ ٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِ ٱلۡكَـٰفِرِینَ ۝١٠١ til'ka l-qurā naquṣṣu ʿalayka min anbāihā walaqad jāathum rusuluhum bil-bayināti famā kānū liyu'minū bimā kadhabū min qablu kadhālika yaṭbaʿu l-lahu ʿalā qulūbi l-kāfirīn We have told you [Prophet] the stories of those towns: messengers came to them, and clear signs, but they would not believe in what they had already rejected- in this way God seals the hearts of disbelievers 102 وَمَا وَجَدۡنَا لِأَكۡثَرِهِم مِّنۡ عَهۡدࣲۖ وَإِن وَجَدۡنَاۤ أَكۡثَرَهُمۡ لَفَـٰسِقِینَ ۝١٠٢ wamā wajadnā li-aktharihim min ʿahdin wa-in wajadnā aktharahum lafāsiqīn We found that most of them did not honour their commitments; We found that most of them were defiant

103 ثُمَّ بَعَثۡنَا مِنۢ بَعۡدِهِم مُّوسَىٰ بِءَایَـٰتِنَاۤ إِلَىٰ فِرۡعَوۡنَ وَمَلَإِی۟هِۦ فَظَلَمُوا۟ بِهَاۖ فَٱنظُرۡ كَیۡفَ كَانَ عَـٰقِبَةُ ٱلۡمُفۡسِدِینَ ۝١٠٣ thumma baʿathnā min baʿdihim mūsā biāyātinā ilā fir'ʿawna wamala-ihi faẓalamū bihā fa-unẓur kayfa kāna ʿāqibatu l-muf'sidīn After these, We sent Moses to Pharaoh and his leading supporters with Our signs, but they rejected them. See the fate of those who used to spread corruption

104 وَقَالَ مُوسَىٰ یَـٰفِرۡعَوۡنُ إِنِّی رَسُولࣱ مِّن رَّبِّ ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ ۝١٠٤ waqāla mūsā yāfir'ʿawnu innī rasūlun min rabbi l-ʿālamīn Moses said, ‘Pharaoh, I am a messenger from the Lord of all the Worlds 105 حَقِیقٌ عَلَىٰۤ أَن لَّاۤ أَقُولَ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ إِلَّا ٱلۡحَقَّۚ قَدۡ جِئۡتُكُم بِبَیِّنَةࣲ مِّن رَّبِّكُمۡ فَأَرۡسِلۡ مَعِیَ بَنِیۤ إِسۡرَ ٰۤءِیلَ ۝١٠٥ ḥaqīqun ʿalā an lā aqūla ʿalā l-lahi illā l-ḥaqa qad ji'tukum bibayyinatin min rabbikum fa-arsil maʿiya banī is'rāīl duty-bound to say nothing about God but the truth, and I have brought you a clear sign from your Lord. Let the Children of Israel go with me.’ 106 قَالَ إِن كُنتَ جِئۡتَ بِءَایَةࣲ فَأۡتِ بِهَاۤ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰدِقِینَ ۝١٠٦ qāla in kunta ji'ta biāyatin fati bihā in kunta mina l-ṣādiqīn He said, ‘Produce this sign you have brought, if you are telling the truth.’ 107 فَأَلۡقَىٰ عَصَاهُ فَإِذَا هِیَ ثُعۡبَانࣱ مُّبِینࣱ ۝١٠٧ fa-alqā ʿaṣāhu fa-idhā hiya thuʿ'bānun mubīnu So Moses threw his staff and- lo and behold!- it was a snake, clear to all
