فَجَعَلَهُمْ كَعَصْفٍ مَّأْكُولٍ
He made them [like] cropped stubble
and He made them like the chewed-up stalks.
Then He rendered them as stubble devoured
And turned them into pastured fields of corn
Until they became like eaten straw.
making them like stripped wheat-stalks eaten bare?
thus making them like chewed-up straw
And so He rendered them like a field of grain devoured and trampled
And thus He reduced them to rotten chaff (and in a similar way will they be ruined who would ever make an attack to destroy Ka`bah)
and He made them like green blades devoured
then He made them like chewed up straw?
And made their battle field like an empty field of stalks and straws
Then He made them like an empty field of stalks and straw which has been eaten
thus He made them like eaten leaves
and make them like blades of herbage eaten down
So He made them like the leftover devoured leaves of farms
And He turned them into dry leaves eaten up.
and render them like the leaves of corn eaten by cattle
And make them like stalks left by herbage eaten down
so that He made them like straw eaten (by cattle)
And he made them like stubble eaten down
So (Allah) transformed them (into something) like fodder subjected to rumination
Then, made He them like ones who are consumed by stalks of husked grain.
Then He made (the people of the elephant) like a ravaged field.

and caused them to become like a field of grain that has been eaten down to stubbl
So He made them like green blades eaten (up)
And made them like green crops devoured (by cattle)

So, He turned them into what looked like chewed hay
leaving them like chewed up straw.
So He made them like eaten up stalks?
so that they became like the withered stalks of plants which cattle had devoured
He made them like chewed up hay
He made them like eaten straw.
He made them like eaten straw.
So He made them like eaten straw.
Thus He made them like devoured dry leaves
And made them like a field of grain eaten down to stubble
So He rendered them like straw eaten up
And thus made them like broken straw, eaten up
such that He made them like devoured husks
Then did He make them like an empty field of stalks and straw, (of which the corn) has been eaten up
