كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ بِطَغْوَاهَا

In their arrogant cruelty, the people of Thamud called [their messenger] a liar
Thamud (people) denied (their prophet) through their transgression (by rejecting the truth)
Thamud belied in their exorbitance
