1 Truth of Revelation

تَنزِیلُ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبِ مِنَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلۡعَزِیزِ ٱلۡحَكِیمِ ۝٢

Descent of Al-Kitab proceeds from Allah, the All-Mighty, the All-Wise

tanzīlu l-kitābi mina l-lahi l-ʿazīzi l-ḥakīm

مَا خَلَقۡنَا ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ وَمَا بَیۡنَهُمَاۤ إِلَّا بِٱلۡحَقِّ وَأَجَلࣲ مُّسَمࣰّىۚ وَٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوا۟ عَمَّاۤ أُنذِرُوا۟ مُعۡرِضُونَ ۝٣

We created not the heavens and the earth and whatever is between those two but with a definite purpose and for an appointed term. And those who have disbelieved: they are deviators from what they have been warned against

mā khalaqnā l-samāwāti wal-arḍa wamā baynahumā illā bil-ḥaqi wa-ajalin musamman wa-alladhīna kafarū ʿammā undhirū muʿ'riḍūn

قُلۡ أَرَءَیۡتُم مَّا تَدۡعُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ أَرُونِی مَاذَا خَلَقُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلۡأَرۡضِ أَمۡ لَهُمۡ شِرۡكࣱ فِی ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِۖ ٱئۡتُونِی بِكِتَـٰبࣲ مِّن قَبۡلِ هَـٰذَاۤ أَوۡ أَثَـٰرَةࣲ مِّنۡ عِلۡمٍ إِن كُنتُمۡ صَـٰدِقِینَ ۝٤

Say: “Have you thought over what you invoke besides Allah? Show me what is that which they have created out of the earth, or is for them a share in the (creation of the) heavens? Come to Me with a Book from (a time period) before this (Al-Kitab) or any traces of Knowledge if you are those who speak the truth

qul ara-aytum mā tadʿūna min dūni l-lahi arūnī mādhā khalaqū mina l-arḍi am lahum shir'kun fī l-samāwāti i'tūnī bikitābin min qabli hādhā aw athāratin min ʿil'min in kuntum ṣādiqīn

وَمَنۡ أَضَلُّ مِمَّن یَدۡعُوا۟ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ مَن لَّا یَسۡتَجِیبُ لَهُۥۤ إِلَىٰ یَوۡمِ ٱلۡقِیَـٰمَةِ وَهُمۡ عَن دُعَاۤىِٕهِمۡ غَـٰفِلُونَ ۝٥

And who is more astray than that who invokes besides Allah, such as will not respond him till the Day of Resurrection; and they regarding their calls (are) unaware

waman aḍallu mimman yadʿū min dūni l-lahi man lā yastajību lahu ilā yawmi l-qiyāmati wahum ʿan duʿāihim ghāfilūn

وَإِذَا حُشِرَ ٱلنَّاسُ كَانُوا۟ لَهُمۡ أَعۡدَاۤءࣰ وَكَانُوا۟ بِعِبَادَتِهِمۡ كَـٰفِرِینَ ۝٦

And when mankind are assembled (on the Day of Resurrection), they (i.e., the false gods) became enemies unto them (who used to invoke them), and became deniers regarding their own worship (at the hands) of these people

wa-idhā ḥushira l-nāsu kānū lahum aʿdāan wakānū biʿibādatihim kāfirīn

وَإِذَا تُتۡلَىٰ عَلَیۡهِمۡ ءَایَـٰتُنَا بَیِّنَـٰتࣲ قَالَ ٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوا۟ لِلۡحَقِّ لَمَّا جَاۤءَهُمۡ هَـٰذَا سِحۡرࣱ مُّبِینٌ ۝٧

And when Our manifestly clear Ayaat (Verses) are reproduced before them, those who disbelieved said, regarding Al-Haqq when it reached them, “This is evident sorcery.”

wa-idhā tut'lā ʿalayhim āyātunā bayyinātin qāla alladhīna kafarū lil'ḥaqqi lammā jāahum hādhā siḥ'run mubīnu

أَمۡ یَقُولُونَ ٱفۡتَرَىٰهُۖ قُلۡ إِنِ ٱفۡتَرَیۡتُهُۥ فَلَا تَمۡلِكُونَ لِی مِنَ ٱللَّهِ شَیۡءًاۖ هُوَ أَعۡلَمُ بِمَا تُفِیضُونَ فِیهِۚ كَفَىٰ بِهِۦ شَهِیدَۢا بَیۡنِی وَبَیۡنَكُمۡۖ وَهُوَ ٱلۡغَفُورُ ٱلرَّحِیمُ ۝٨

Do they say he has forged it? Say: “If I have fabricated (or forged) it, then you have no power for (supporting) me against Allah — in any way. He knows more about that wherein you involve (yourselves). For Him (to act) as a Witness is quite sufficient. And He is the Oft-Forgiving, the continuously Merciful.”

am yaqūlūna if'tarāhu qul ini if'taraytuhu falā tamlikūna lī mina l-lahi shayan huwa aʿlamu bimā tufīḍūna fīhi kafā bihi shahīdan baynī wabaynakum wahuwa l-ghafūru l-raḥīm

قُلۡ مَا كُنتُ بِدۡعࣰا مِّنَ ٱلرُّسُلِ وَمَاۤ أَدۡرِی مَا یُفۡعَلُ بِی وَلَا بِكُمۡۖ إِنۡ أَتَّبِعُ إِلَّا مَا یُوحَىٰۤ إِلَیَّ وَمَاۤ أَنَا۠ إِلَّا نَذِیرࣱ مُّبِینࣱ ۝٩

Say: “I am not something unique out of the Messengers; and I do not perceive what will be done with me and nor (I do perceive what will be done) with you people. I do not obey except what has been revealed unto me. And I am not except a plain warner.”

qul mā kuntu bid'ʿan mina l-rusuli wamā adrī mā yuf'ʿalu bī walā bikum in attabiʿu illā mā yūḥā ilayya wamā anā illā nadhīrun mubīnu

قُلۡ أَرَءَیۡتُمۡ إِن كَانَ مِنۡ عِندِ ٱللَّهِ وَكَفَرۡتُم بِهِۦ وَشَهِدَ شَاهِدࣱ مِّنۢ بَنِیۤ إِسۡرَ ٰۤءِیلَ عَلَىٰ مِثۡلِهِۦ فَءَامَنَ وَٱسۡتَكۡبَرۡتُمۡۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا یَهۡدِی ٱلۡقَوۡمَ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِینَ ۝١٠

Say: “Have you (ever) pondered, if it is proceeding from Allah and you disbelieved it — while a witness from amongst Bani Israiel gave testimony in favour of something identical to it, so he developed Faith, while you became arrogant?” Verily, Allah does not guide the nation of transgressors

qul ara-aytum in kāna min ʿindi l-lahi wakafartum bihi washahida shāhidun min banī is'rāīla ʿalā mith'lihi faāmana wa-is'takbartum inna l-laha lā yahdī l-qawma l-ẓālimīn

2 Witness of Truth

وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوا۟ لِلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَوۡ كَانَ خَیۡرࣰا مَّا سَبَقُونَاۤ إِلَیۡهِۚ وَإِذۡ لَمۡ یَهۡتَدُوا۟ بِهِۦ فَسَیَقُولُونَ هَـٰذَاۤ إِفۡكࣱ قَدِیمࣱ ۝١١

And those who disbelieved said about those who had Believed: “Had it been something good, they would not have preceded us thereto.” And when they did not get guidance through it, then soon they will utter: “This is a lie (quite) ancient.

waqāla alladhīna kafarū lilladhīna āmanū law kāna khayran mā sabaqūnā ilayhi wa-idh lam yahtadū bihi fasayaqūlūna hādhā if'kun qadīmu

وَمِن قَبۡلِهِۦ كِتَـٰبُ مُوسَىٰۤ إِمَامࣰا وَرَحۡمَةࣰۚ وَهَـٰذَا كِتَـٰبࣱ مُّصَدِّقࣱ لِّسَانًا عَرَبِیࣰّا لِّیُنذِرَ ٱلَّذِینَ ظَلَمُوا۟ وَبُشۡرَىٰ لِلۡمُحۡسِنِینَ ۝١٢

And since before this (when the Book is revealing itself on the Last Prophet) Kitab-o-Musa (is) Imam (Leader) and Rahmah (Mercy). And this Book is Musaddiq in the Arabic tongue — so that those who have transgressed may be given warning; while it is as glad tidings for Muhsinun

wamin qablihi kitābu mūsā imāman waraḥmatan wahādhā kitābun muṣaddiqun lisānan ʿarabiyyan liyundhira alladhīna ẓalamū wabush'rā lil'muḥ'sinīn

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِینَ قَالُوا۟ رَبُّنَا ٱللَّهُ ثُمَّ ٱسۡتَقَـٰمُوا۟ فَلَا خَوۡفٌ عَلَیۡهِمۡ وَلَا هُمۡ یَحۡزَنُونَ ۝١٣

Verily, those who said: “Our Nourisher-Sustainer is Allah and thereafter remain steadfast, then there is no fear over them, and they will not be down in grief

inna alladhīna qālū rabbunā l-lahu thumma is'taqāmū falā khawfun ʿalayhim walā hum yaḥzanūn

أُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ أَصۡحَـٰبُ ٱلۡجَنَّةِ خَـٰلِدِینَ فِیهَا جَزَاۤءَۢ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ یَعۡمَلُونَ ۝١٤

They are the companions of the Garden, abiders therein — as a reward for what they used to do (while in their worldly-life)

ulāika aṣḥābu l-janati khālidīna fīhā jazāan bimā kānū yaʿmalūn

وَوَصَّیۡنَا ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنَ بِوَ ٰلِدَیۡهِ إِحۡسَـٰنًاۖ حَمَلَتۡهُ أُمُّهُۥ كُرۡهࣰا وَوَضَعَتۡهُ كُرۡهࣰاۖ وَحَمۡلُهُۥ وَفِصَـٰلُهُۥ ثَلَـٰثُونَ شَهۡرًاۚ حَتَّىٰۤ إِذَا بَلَغَ أَشُدَّهُۥ وَبَلَغَ أَرۡبَعِینَ سَنَةࣰ قَالَ رَبِّ أَوۡزِعۡنِیۤ أَنۡ أَشۡكُرَ نِعۡمَتَكَ ٱلَّتِیۤ أَنۡعَمۡتَ عَلَیَّ وَعَلَىٰ وَ ٰلِدَیَّ وَأَنۡ أَعۡمَلَ صَـٰلِحࣰا تَرۡضَىٰهُ وَأَصۡلِحۡ لِی فِی ذُرِّیَّتِیۤۖ إِنِّی تُبۡتُ إِلَیۡكَ وَإِنِّی مِنَ ٱلۡمُسۡلِمِینَ ۝١٥

We have enjoined on man kindness to his parents: in pain did his mother bear him, and in pain did she give him birth. And the gestation-period for him and the weaning of him (make) thirty months — until when he attained his full strength and attained forty years, he said, “My Nourisher-Sustainer! Bestow me (the power) that I may pay thanks for Your favour which You have bestowed upon me and upon my parents, and that I may perform righteous deeds that You may agree with it; and make reform in my offspring for my sake. Truly, I have turned to You, and truly I am (one) of the Muslims.”

wawaṣṣaynā l-insāna biwālidayhi iḥ'sānan ḥamalathu ummuhu kur'han wawaḍaʿathu kur'han waḥamluhu wafiṣāluhu thalāthūna shahran ḥattā idhā balagha ashuddahu wabalagha arbaʿīna sanatan qāla rabbi awziʿ'nī an ashkura niʿ'mataka allatī anʿamta ʿalayya waʿalā wālidayya wa-an aʿmala ṣāliḥan tarḍāhu wa-aṣliḥ lī fī dhurriyyatī innī tub'tu ilayka wa-innī mina l-mus'limīn

أُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ ٱلَّذِینَ نَتَقَبَّلُ عَنۡهُمۡ أَحۡسَنَ مَا عَمِلُوا۟ وَنَتَجَاوَزُ عَن سَیِّءَاتِهِمۡ فِیۤ أَصۡحَـٰبِ ٱلۡجَنَّةِۖ وَعۡدَ ٱلصِّدۡقِ ٱلَّذِی كَانُوا۟ یُوعَدُونَ ۝١٦

They are those from whom We shall accept the better of what they did, and We will overlook their evil deeds. (They as a group shall stay) among the companions of the Garden — a promise of truth which they have been promised

ulāika alladhīna nataqabbalu ʿanhum aḥsana mā ʿamilū wanatajāwazu ʿan sayyiātihim fī aṣḥābi l-janati waʿda l-ṣid'qi alladhī kānū yūʿadūn

وَٱلَّذِی قَالَ لِوَ ٰلِدَیۡهِ أُفࣲّ لَّكُمَاۤ أَتَعِدَانِنِیۤ أَنۡ أُخۡرَجَ وَقَدۡ خَلَتِ ٱلۡقُرُونُ مِن قَبۡلِی وَهُمَا یَسۡتَغِیثَانِ ٱللَّهَ وَیۡلَكَ ءَامِنۡ إِنَّ وَعۡدَ ٱللَّهِ حَقࣱّ فَیَقُولُ مَا هَـٰذَاۤ إِلَّاۤ أَسَـٰطِیرُ ٱلۡأَوَّلِینَ ۝١٧

And (on the other hand is) that one who said to his parents: “Fie upon you both! Do you twain hold out a promise to me that I shall be raised up (alive after becoming a part of the dust and mud), and surely, the generations have passed away before me (but none has risen from the dead)?” While those two (the father and the mother) both invoke Allah for help (and admonish their son thus): “What a pitty for you! Develop Faith, surely the Promise of Allah is true.” Still he utters: “This (Al-Kitab) is not but written records of the initial people.”

wa-alladhī qāla liwālidayhi uffin lakumā ataʿidāninī an ukh'raja waqad khalati l-qurūnu min qablī wahumā yastaghīthāni l-laha waylaka āmin inna waʿda l-lahi ḥaqqun fayaqūlu mā hādhā illā asāṭīru l-awalīn

أُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ ٱلَّذِینَ حَقَّ عَلَیۡهِمُ ٱلۡقَوۡلُ فِیۤ أُمَمࣲ قَدۡ خَلَتۡ مِن قَبۡلِهِم مِّنَ ٱلۡجِنِّ وَٱلۡإِنسِۖ إِنَّهُمۡ كَانُوا۟ خَـٰسِرِینَ ۝١٨

They are those against whom the statement has proved to be true among the communities of jinns and mankind, which surely have passed before these people. Surely, they have become the losers

ulāika alladhīna ḥaqqa ʿalayhimu l-qawlu fī umamin qad khalat min qablihim mina l-jini wal-insi innahum kānū khāsirīn

وَلِكُلࣲّ دَرَجَـٰتࣱ مِّمَّا عَمِلُوا۟ۖ وَلِیُوَفِّیَهُمۡ أَعۡمَـٰلَهُمۡ وَهُمۡ لَا یُظۡلَمُونَ ۝١٩

And for all (the people there would be) ranks according to what they did; and in order that He may recompense them in full for their deeds. And they will not be subjected to injustice

walikullin darajātun mimmā ʿamilū waliyuwaffiyahum aʿmālahum wahum lā yuẓ'lamūn

وَیَوۡمَ یُعۡرَضُ ٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوا۟ عَلَى ٱلنَّارِ أَذۡهَبۡتُمۡ طَیِّبَـٰتِكُمۡ فِی حَیَاتِكُمُ ٱلدُّنۡیَا وَٱسۡتَمۡتَعۡتُم بِهَا فَٱلۡیَوۡمَ تُجۡزَوۡنَ عَذَابَ ٱلۡهُونِ بِمَا كُنتُمۡ تَسۡتَكۡبِرُونَ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ بِغَیۡرِ ٱلۡحَقِّ وَبِمَا كُنتُمۡ تَفۡسُقُونَ ۝٢٠

And the Day those who have disbelieved are exposed to the Fire, (they would be told): “You have received in full your due as palatable and desirable things in your life of the immediate world and you fully enjoyed therewith. So, this Day you shall be rewarded a humiliating punishment because you used to behave in arrogance in the land without right; and because you used to rebel and disobey. ”

wayawma yuʿ'raḍu alladhīna kafarū ʿalā l-nāri adhhabtum ṭayyibātikum fī ḥayātikumu l-dun'yā wa-is'tamtaʿtum bihā fal-yawma tuj'zawna ʿadhāba l-hūni bimā kuntum tastakbirūna fī l-arḍi bighayri l-ḥaqi wabimā kuntum tafsuqūn

3 The Fate of 'Ad

۞ وَٱذۡكُرۡ أَخَا عَادٍ إِذۡ أَنذَرَ قَوۡمَهُۥ بِٱلۡأَحۡقَافِ وَقَدۡ خَلَتِ ٱلنُّذُرُ مِنۢ بَیۡنِ یَدَیۡهِ وَمِنۡ خَلۡفِهِۦۤ أَلَّا تَعۡبُدُوۤا۟ إِلَّا ٱللَّهَ إِنِّیۤ أَخَافُ عَلَیۡكُمۡ عَذَابَ یَوۡمٍ عَظِیمࣲ ۝٢١

And bring to mind the brother of ’Ad when he warned his nation in Al-Ahqaf. And surely, the warners have passed away from in between his two hands (i.e., , before him) and from behind his back (i.e., , after him) — (saying) that: “Obey not except Allah; truly, I fear against you the torment of a Mighty Day.”

wa-udh'kur akhā ʿādin idh andhara qawmahu bil-aḥqāfi waqad khalati l-nudhuru min bayni yadayhi wamin khalfihi allā taʿbudū illā l-laha innī akhāfu ʿalaykum ʿadhāba yawmin ʿaẓīmi

قَالُوۤا۟ أَجِئۡتَنَا لِتَأۡفِكَنَا عَنۡ ءَالِهَتِنَا فَأۡتِنَا بِمَا تَعِدُنَاۤ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰدِقِینَ ۝٢٢

They said, “Have you come to us that you may make us disgusted against our aaliha (gods)? Then approach us with that which you promise us (as a threat), if you are of those who speak the truth”

qālū aji'tanā litafikanā ʿan ālihatinā fatinā bimā taʿidunā in kunta mina l-ṣādiqīn

قَالَ إِنَّمَا ٱلۡعِلۡمُ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ وَأُبَلِّغُكُم مَّاۤ أُرۡسِلۡتُ بِهِۦ وَلَـٰكِنِّیۤ أَرَىٰكُمۡ قَوۡمࣰا تَجۡهَلُونَ ۝٢٣

(Prophet Hud) said, “Certainly, what (is a fact is that) the Real Knowledge is with Allah. However, I propagate unto you that wherewith I have been sent, but I, I see you a nation: you are falling in ignorance.”

qāla innamā l-ʿil'mu ʿinda l-lahi wa-uballighukum mā ur'sil'tu bihi walākinnī arākum qawman tajhalūn

فَلَمَّا رَأَوۡهُ عَارِضࣰا مُّسۡتَقۡبِلَ أَوۡدِیَتِهِمۡ قَالُوا۟ هَـٰذَا عَارِضࣱ مُّمۡطِرُنَاۚ بَلۡ هُوَ مَا ٱسۡتَعۡجَلۡتُم بِهِۦۖ رِیحࣱ فِیهَا عَذَابٌ أَلِیمࣱ ۝٢٤

Then, when they saw it (as) a dense cloud, one that comes quite in front of their valleys — they said: “This is a thick cloud, about to rain on us.” Nay! (Rather) it (is) which you asked to be hastened. (It is) a wind wherein (exists) a painful torment

falammā ra-awhu ʿāriḍan mus'taqbila awdiyatihim qālū hādhā ʿāriḍun mum'ṭirunā bal huwa mā is'taʿjaltum bihi rīḥun fīhā ʿadhābun alīmu

تُدَمِّرُ كُلَّ شَیۡءِۭ بِأَمۡرِ رَبِّهَا فَأَصۡبَحُوا۟ لَا یُرَىٰۤ إِلَّا مَسَـٰكِنُهُمۡۚ كَذَ ٰلِكَ نَجۡزِی ٱلۡقَوۡمَ ٱلۡمُجۡرِمِینَ ۝٢٥

It shall destroy everything under the order of her Nourisher-Sustainer. So they became (such people that) nothing is seen except their houses. Thus do We recompense the nation of criminals

tudammiru kulla shayin bi-amri rabbihā fa-aṣbaḥū lā yurā illā masākinuhum kadhālika najzī l-qawma l-muj'rimīn

وَلَقَدۡ مَكَّنَّـٰهُمۡ فِیمَاۤ إِن مَّكَّنَّـٰكُمۡ فِیهِ وَجَعَلۡنَا لَهُمۡ سَمۡعࣰا وَأَبۡصَـٰرࣰا وَأَفۡءِدَةࣰ فَمَاۤ أَغۡنَىٰ عَنۡهُمۡ سَمۡعُهُمۡ وَلَاۤ أَبۡصَـٰرُهُمۡ وَلَاۤ أَفۡءِدَتُهُم مِّن شَیۡءٍ إِذۡ كَانُوا۟ یَجۡحَدُونَ بِءَایَـٰتِ ٱللَّهِ وَحَاقَ بِهِم مَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ یَسۡتَهۡزِءُونَ ۝٢٦

And surely, indeed We established them so firmly wherewith We have not established you. And We have bestowed them (the faculties of) hearing, and eye-sights and hearts; but benifitted them not their hearing, and nor their eye-sights and nor their hearts — anything when they used to oppose Ayaatillah, and got encircled around them that whereat they used to mock and ridicule

walaqad makkannāhum fīmā in makkannākum fīhi wajaʿalnā lahum samʿan wa-abṣāran wa-afidatan famā aghnā ʿanhum samʿuhum walā abṣāruhum walā afidatuhum min shayin idh kānū yajḥadūna biāyāti l-lahi waḥāqa bihim mā kānū bihi yastahziūn

4 A Warning

وَلَقَدۡ أَهۡلَكۡنَا مَا حَوۡلَكُم مِّنَ ٱلۡقُرَىٰ وَصَرَّفۡنَا ٱلۡءَایَـٰتِ لَعَلَّهُمۡ یَرۡجِعُونَ ۝٢٧

And surely indeed, We destroyed that which (existed) around you of the towns, and We have scattered the Verses (in the Text of the Scripture on any particular subject) so that they may turn (their attention to Al-Kitab for a detailed view)

walaqad ahlaknā mā ḥawlakum mina l-qurā waṣarrafnā l-āyāti laʿallahum yarjiʿūn

فَلَوۡلَا نَصَرَهُمُ ٱلَّذِینَ ٱتَّخَذُوا۟ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ قُرۡبَانًا ءَالِهَةَۢۖ بَلۡ ضَلُّوا۟ عَنۡهُمۡۚ وَذَ ٰلِكَ إِفۡكُهُمۡ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ یَفۡتَرُونَ ۝٢٨

So why didn’t help them those whom they adopted besides Allah as a way of nearness (to Him) — as aaliha (gods)? Nay! They deserted them. And that is their lie (that they need a false god for attaining nearness to the Real God), and this is what they used to forge and invent (as a belief and as a practice)

falawlā naṣarahumu alladhīna ittakhadhū min dūni l-lahi qur'bānan ālihatan bal ḍallū ʿanhum wadhālika if'kuhum wamā kānū yaftarūn

وَإِذۡ صَرَفۡنَاۤ إِلَیۡكَ نَفَرࣰا مِّنَ ٱلۡجِنِّ یَسۡتَمِعُونَ ٱلۡقُرۡءَانَ فَلَمَّا حَضَرُوهُ قَالُوۤا۟ أَنصِتُوا۟ۖ فَلَمَّا قُضِیَ وَلَّوۡا۟ إِلَىٰ قَوۡمِهِم مُّنذِرِینَ ۝٢٩

And when We diverted towards you Nafaran (a group of three to ten individuals) of the jinns: they listen to the Al-Quran. When they stood in the presence thereof, they said: “Be silent”! So when (the recitation) got completed, they went back to their nation as warners

wa-idh ṣarafnā ilayka nafaran mina l-jini yastamiʿūna l-qur'āna falammā ḥaḍarūhu qālū anṣitū falammā quḍiya wallaw ilā qawmihim mundhirīn

قَالُوا۟ یَـٰقَوۡمَنَاۤ إِنَّا سَمِعۡنَا كِتَـٰبًا أُنزِلَ مِنۢ بَعۡدِ مُوسَىٰ مُصَدِّقࣰا لِّمَا بَیۡنَ یَدَیۡهِ یَهۡدِیۤ إِلَى ٱلۡحَقِّ وَإِلَىٰ طَرِیقࣲ مُّسۡتَقِیمࣲ ۝٣٠

They addressed (their nation thus): “O our nation! Verily we, we have listened to the Book, made to descend after Musa, being one that is a confirmation to that what is between its two hands (i.e., what had been already there as Allah’s Scripture). It guides towards the truth and towards the permanent Path

qālū yāqawmanā innā samiʿ'nā kitāban unzila min baʿdi mūsā muṣaddiqan limā bayna yadayhi yahdī ilā l-ḥaqi wa-ilā ṭarīqin mus'taqīmi

یَـٰقَوۡمَنَاۤ أَجِیبُوا۟ دَاعِیَ ٱللَّهِ وَءَامِنُوا۟ بِهِۦ یَغۡفِرۡ لَكُم مِّن ذُنُوبِكُمۡ وَیُجِرۡكُم مِّنۡ عَذَابٍ أَلِیمࣲ ۝٣١

O our nation! Respond to Allah’s summoner, and Believe in Him; He will forgive for you out of your sins, and He will protect you from a painful torment ”

yāqawmanā ajībū dāʿiya l-lahi waāminū bihi yaghfir lakum min dhunūbikum wayujir'kum min ʿadhābin alīmi

وَمَن لَّا یُجِبۡ دَاعِیَ ٱللَّهِ فَلَیۡسَ بِمُعۡجِزࣲ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَلَیۡسَ لَهُۥ مِن دُونِهِۦۤ أَوۡلِیَاۤءُۚ أُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ فِی ضَلَـٰلࣲ مُّبِینٍ ۝٣٢

And whosoever does not respond to Allah’s summoner, then he would not be one who will frustrate (Allah) on the earth; and (there are) not for him, besides Him (any) auliya. Those people (who do not respond to the Message of Allah) are in manifest error

waman lā yujib dāʿiya l-lahi falaysa bimuʿ'jizin fī l-arḍi walaysa lahu min dūnihi awliyāu ulāika fī ḍalālin mubīni

أَوَ لَمۡ یَرَوۡا۟ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ ٱلَّذِی خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ وَلَمۡ یَعۡیَ بِخَلۡقِهِنَّ بِقَـٰدِرٍ عَلَىٰۤ أَن یُحۡـِۧیَ ٱلۡمَوۡتَىٰۚ بَلَىٰۤۚ إِنَّهُۥ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَیۡءࣲ قَدِیرࣱ ۝٣٣

Have they not then seen that Allah Who created the heavens and the earth and was not wearied by their creation, is All-Capable that He may revive the dead? Of course! Surely, He is All-Capable over every thing

awalam yaraw anna l-laha alladhī khalaqa l-samāwāti wal-arḍa walam yaʿya bikhalqihinna biqādirin ʿalā an yuḥ'yiya l-mawtā balā innahu ʿalā kulli shayin qadīru

وَیَوۡمَ یُعۡرَضُ ٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوا۟ عَلَى ٱلنَّارِ أَلَیۡسَ هَـٰذَا بِٱلۡحَقِّۖ قَالُوا۟ بَلَىٰ وَرَبِّنَاۚ قَالَ فَذُوقُوا۟ ٱلۡعَذَابَ بِمَا كُنتُمۡ تَكۡفُرُونَ ۝٣٤

And the Day, those who have disbelieved are exposed to the Fire (of Hell, it will be said to them): “Is this not (in line) with the truth (promised to you)?” They said: “Of course, by our Nourisher-Sustainer!” He said: “Then taste the punishment because you used to disbelieve.”

wayawma yuʿ'raḍu alladhīna kafarū ʿalā l-nāri alaysa hādhā bil-ḥaqi qālū balā warabbinā qāla fadhūqū l-ʿadhāba bimā kuntum takfurūn

فَٱصۡبِرۡ كَمَا صَبَرَ أُو۟لُوا۟ ٱلۡعَزۡمِ مِنَ ٱلرُّسُلِ وَلَا تَسۡتَعۡجِل لَّهُمۡۚ كَأَنَّهُمۡ یَوۡمَ یَرَوۡنَ مَا یُوعَدُونَ لَمۡ یَلۡبَثُوۤا۟ إِلَّا سَاعَةࣰ مِّن نَّهَارِۭۚ بَلَـٰغࣱۚ فَهَلۡ یُهۡلَكُ إِلَّا ٱلۡقَوۡمُ ٱلۡفَـٰسِقُونَ ۝٣٥

So be patient in the same way as remained patient the possessors of strong will from amongst the Messengers; and do not show haste regarding them. As if they, the Day they see what they are promised — they have not stayed except an hour of the day-time. Conveying (the Message is the duty of the Messenger). So, would one be destroyed except the nation of Al-Fasiqun (the rebellious, disobedient people)

fa-iṣ'bir kamā ṣabara ulū l-ʿazmi mina l-rusuli walā tastaʿjil lahum ka-annahum yawma yarawna mā yūʿadūna lam yalbathū illā sāʿatan min nahārin balāghun fahal yuh'laku illā l-qawmu l-fāsiqūn
