Mutual Disillusion, Haggling, The Cheating — Linda Ilham Barto Translation

He knows all that is in Heaven and throughout Earth. He knows all that is concealed as well as what is revealed. Allah has full knowledge of what is in the hearts.

yaʿlamu mā fī l-samāwāti wal-arḍi wayaʿlamu mā tusirrūna wamā tuʿ'linūna wal-lahu ʿalīmun bidhāti l-ṣudūr

64:5

أَلَمۡ یَأۡتِكُمۡ نَبَؤُا۟ ٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوا۟ مِن قَبۡلُ فَذَاقُوا۟ وَبَالَ أَمۡرِهِمۡ وَلَهُمۡ عَذَابٌ أَلِیمࣱ ۝٥

Linda "iLham" Barto

Have you not heard the story of those who previously rejected faith? They tasted the evil result of their conduct, and they had a horrid punishment.

alam yatikum naba-u alladhīna kafarū min qablu fadhāqū wabāla amrihim walahum ʿadhābun alīmu

64:6

ذَ ٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُۥ كَانَت تَّأۡتِیهِمۡ رُسُلُهُم بِٱلۡبَیِّنَـٰتِ فَقَالُوۤا۟ أَبَشَرࣱ یَهۡدُونَنَا فَكَفَرُوا۟ وَتَوَلَّوا۟ۖ وَّٱسۡتَغۡنَى ٱللَّهُۚ وَٱللَّهُ غَنِیٌّ حَمِیدࣱ ۝٦

Linda "iLham" Barto

That was because, after their messengers presented obvious signs, they said, “You, mere humans, are trying to tell us how to live?” They rejected and turned away, but Allah can do without them. Allah is Independent, the Praised One.

dhālika bi-annahu kānat tatīhim rusuluhum bil-bayināti faqālū abasharun yahdūnanā fakafarū watawallaw wa-is'taghnā l-lahu wal-lahu ghaniyyun ḥamīdu

64:7

زَعَمَ ٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوۤا۟ أَن لَّن یُبۡعَثُوا۟ۚ قُلۡ بَلَىٰ وَرَبِّی لَتُبۡعَثُنَّ ثُمَّ لَتُنَبَّؤُنَّ بِمَا عَمِلۡتُمۡۚ وَذَ ٰلِكَ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ یَسِیرࣱ ۝٧

Linda "iLham" Barto

The unbelievers think that they will not be resurrected. Say, “Yes, by my Lord, you shall surely be resurrected, and then you will be told all that you ever did. That is an easy task for Allah.”

zaʿama alladhīna kafarū an lan yub'ʿathū qul balā warabbī latub'ʿathunna thumma latunabba-unna bimā ʿamil'tum wadhālika ʿalā l-lahi yasīru

64:8

فَءَامِنُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦ وَٱلنُّورِ ٱلَّذِیۤ أَنزَلۡنَاۚ وَٱللَّهُ بِمَا تَعۡمَلُونَ خَبِیرࣱ ۝٨

Linda "iLham" Barto

Believe, therefore, in Allah and His messenger and in the light We have descended. Allah is Fully Aware of all that you do.

faāminū bil-lahi warasūlihi wal-nūri alladhī anzalnā wal-lahu bimā taʿmalūna khabīru

64:9

یَوۡمَ یَجۡمَعُكُمۡ لِیَوۡمِ ٱلۡجَمۡعِۖ ذَ ٰلِكَ یَوۡمُ ٱلتَّغَابُنِۗ وَمَن یُؤۡمِنۢ بِٱللَّهِ وَیَعۡمَلۡ صَـٰلِحࣰا یُكَفِّرۡ عَنۡهُ سَیِّءَاتِهِۦ وَیُدۡخِلۡهُ جَنَّـٰتࣲ تَجۡرِی مِن تَحۡتِهَا ٱلۡأَنۡهَـٰرُ خَـٰلِدِینَ فِیهَاۤ أَبَدࣰاۚ ذَ ٰلِكَ ٱلۡفَوۡزُ ٱلۡعَظِیمُ ۝٩

Linda "iLham" Barto

The day that He assembles you on the Day of Congregation will be a day of mutual loss and gain. For those who believed in Allah and achieved righteous deeds, He will conceal any sins. He will admit them to gardens, beneath which rivers flow, wherein they will live forever. That will be the supreme achievement.

yawma yajmaʿukum liyawmi l-jamʿi dhālika yawmu l-taghābuni waman yu'min bil-lahi wayaʿmal ṣāliḥan yukaffir ʿanhu sayyiātihi wayud'khil'hu jannātin tajrī min taḥtihā l-anhāru khālidīna fīhā abadan dhālika l-fawzu l-ʿaẓīm

64:10

وَٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَكَذَّبُوا۟ بِءَایَـٰتِنَاۤ أُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ أَصۡحَـٰبُ ٱلنَّارِ خَـٰلِدِینَ فِیهَاۖ وَبِئۡسَ ٱلۡمَصِیرُ ۝١٠

Linda "iLham" Barto

But those who reject faith and treat Our signs as fiction will be companions of flames in which they will dwell continuously. That fate is an evil goal indeed.

wa-alladhīna kafarū wakadhabū biāyātinā ulāika aṣḥābu l-nāri khālidīna fīhā wabi'sa l-maṣīr

64:11

مَاۤ أَصَابَ مِن مُّصِیبَةٍ إِلَّا بِإِذۡنِ ٱللَّهِۗ وَمَن یُؤۡمِنۢ بِٱللَّهِ یَهۡدِ قَلۡبَهُۥۚ وَٱللَّهُ بِكُلِّ شَیۡءٍ عَلِیمࣱ ۝١١

Linda "iLham" Barto

No kind of crisis can occur without the permission of Allah. For the believer in Allah, Allah guides his/her heart, and Allah knows everything.

mā aṣāba min muṣībatin illā bi-idh'ni l-lahi waman yu'min bil-lahi yahdi qalbahu wal-lahu bikulli shayin ʿalīmu

64:12

وَأَطِیعُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِیعُوا۟ ٱلرَّسُولَۚ فَإِن تَوَلَّیۡتُمۡ فَإِنَّمَا عَلَىٰ رَسُولِنَا ٱلۡبَلَـٰغُ ٱلۡمُبِینُ ۝١٢

Linda "iLham" Barto

So obey Allah and obey His messenger. If you backslide, however, the duty of Our messenger is merely to proclaim clearly.

wa-aṭīʿū l-laha wa-aṭīʿū l-rasūla fa-in tawallaytum fa-innamā ʿalā rasūlinā l-balāghu l-mubīn

64:13

ٱللَّهُ لَاۤ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَۚ وَعَلَى ٱللَّهِ فَلۡیَتَوَكَّلِ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنُونَ ۝١٣

Linda "iLham" Barto

Allah! No god is there except Him. On Allah, therefore, may the believers trust!

al-lahu lā ilāha illā huwa waʿalā l-lahi falyatawakkali l-mu'minūn

64:14

یَـٰۤأَیُّهَا ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوۤا۟ إِنَّ مِنۡ أَزۡوَ ٰجِكُمۡ وَأَوۡلَـٰدِكُمۡ عَدُوࣰّا لَّكُمۡ فَٱحۡذَرُوهُمۡۚ وَإِن تَعۡفُوا۟ وَتَصۡفَحُوا۟ وَتَغۡفِرُوا۟ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورࣱ رَّحِیمٌ ۝١٤

Linda "iLham" Barto

O Believers, certainly among your spouses and children there may be antagonists. Beware of those [family members who intentionally or inadvertently come between you and your duties to God]. If you forgive, ignore, and excuse, then certainly Allah is Most Forgiving, Most Merciful.

yāayyuhā alladhīna āmanū inna min azwājikum wa-awlādikum ʿaduwwan lakum fa-iḥ'dharūhum wa-in taʿfū wataṣfaḥū wataghfirū fa-inna l-laha ghafūrun raḥīmu

64:15

إِنَّمَاۤ أَمۡوَ ٰلُكُمۡ وَأَوۡلَـٰدُكُمۡ فِتۡنَةࣱۚ وَٱللَّهُ عِندَهُۥۤ أَجۡرٌ عَظِیمࣱ ۝١٥

Linda "iLham" Barto

Your wealth and children may pose a trial for you, but with Allah is the highest reward.

innamā amwālukum wa-awlādukum fit'natun wal-lahu ʿindahu ajrun ʿaẓīmu

64:16

فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ مَا ٱسۡتَطَعۡتُمۡ وَٱسۡمَعُوا۟ وَأَطِیعُوا۟ وَأَنفِقُوا۟ خَیۡرࣰا لِّأَنفُسِكُمۡۗ وَمَن یُوقَ شُحَّ نَفۡسِهِۦ فَأُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ هُمُ ٱلۡمُفۡلِحُونَ ۝١٦

Linda "iLham" Barto

So revere Allah to your fullest potential. Listen and obey, and expense [for charity] to benefit yourselves. Whoever is rescued [through his/her generous acts] from greed within his/her soul is among those who achieve prosperity.

fa-ittaqū l-laha mā is'taṭaʿtum wa-is'maʿū wa-aṭīʿū wa-anfiqū khayran li-anfusikum waman yūqa shuḥḥa nafsihi fa-ulāika humu l-muf'liḥūn

64:17

إِن تُقۡرِضُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ قَرۡضًا حَسَنࣰا یُضَـٰعِفۡهُ لَكُمۡ وَیَغۡفِرۡ لَكُمۡۚ وَٱللَّهُ شَكُورٌ حَلِیمٌ ۝١٧

Linda "iLham" Barto

Advance to Allah a beautiful loan, and He will multiply it for you and will forgive you. Allah is Most Appreciative, Most Tolerant.

in tuq'riḍū l-laha qarḍan ḥasanan yuḍāʿif'hu lakum wayaghfir lakum wal-lahu shakūrun ḥalīmu

64:18

عَـٰلِمُ ٱلۡغَیۡبِ وَٱلشَّهَـٰدَةِ ٱلۡعَزِیزُ ٱلۡحَكِیمُ ۝١٨

Linda "iLham" Barto

He knows what is secret and what is public. He is the Victorious, the Perfectly Wise.
