تَقَاسَمُوا۟ taqāsamū
Swear to each other V
بِٱللَّهِ bil-lahi

لَنُبَيِّتَنَّهُۥ lanubayyitannahu
surely, we will attack him by night V
وَأَهْلَهُۥ wa-ahlahu
and his family Noun
ثُمَّ thumma
Then Prep
لَنَقُولَنَّ lanaqūlanna
we will surely say V
لِوَلِيِّهِۦ liwaliyyihi
to his heir Noun
مَا mā
Not Prep
شَهِدْنَا shahid'nā
we witnessed V
مَهْلِكَ mahlika
(the) destruction Noun
أَهْلِهِۦ ahlihi
(of) his family Noun
وَإِنَّا wa-innā
and indeed, we Prep
لَصَٰدِقُونَ laṣādiqūna
(are) surely truthful Noun

They said, ‘Swear by God: we shall attack this man and his household in the night, then say to his next of kin, “We did not witness the destruction of his household. We are telling the truth.”’

قَالُوا۟ تَقَاسَمُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ لَنُبَیِّتَنَّهُۥ وَأَهۡلَهُۥ ثُمَّ لَنَقُولَنَّ لِوَلِیِّهِۦ مَا شَهِدۡنَا مَهۡلِكَ أَهۡلِهِۦ وَإِنَّا لَصَـٰدِقُونَ ۝٤٩

qālū taqāsamū bil-lahi lanubayyitannahu wa-ahlahu thumma lanaqūlanna liwaliyyihi mā shahid'nā mahlika ahlihi wa-innā laṣādiqūn
