إِنَّا نَطۡمَعُ أَن یَغۡفِرَ لَنَا رَبُّنَا خَطَـٰیَـٰنَاۤ أَن كُنَّاۤ أَوَّلَ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ ۝٥١
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Indeed, we aspire that our Lord will forgive us our sins because we were the first of the believers."
Abdel Haleem: We hope that our Lord will forgive us our sins, as we were the first to believe.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Lo! we ardently hope that our Lord will forgive us our sins because we are the first of the believers
The Poets 26:82 Verb
وَٱلَّذِیۤ أَطۡمَعُ أَن یَغۡفِرَ لِی خَطِیۤءَتِی یَوۡمَ ٱلدِّینِ ۝٨٢
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And who I aspire that He will forgive me my sin on the Day of Recompense."
Abdel Haleem: and He who will, I hope, forgive my faults on the Day of Judgement
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And Who, I ardently hope, will forgive me my sin on the Day of Judgment
The Cow 2:75 Verb
۞ أَفَتَطۡمَعُونَ أَن یُؤۡمِنُوا۟ لَكُمۡ وَقَدۡ كَانَ فَرِیقࣱ مِّنۡهُمۡ یَسۡمَعُونَ كَلَـٰمَ ٱللَّهِ ثُمَّ یُحَرِّفُونَهُۥ مِنۢ بَعۡدِ مَا عَقَلُوهُ وَهُمۡ یَعۡلَمُونَ ۝٧٥
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Do you covet [the hope, O believers], that they would believe for you while a party of them used to hear the words of Allah and then distort the Torah after they had understood it while they were knowing
Abdel Haleem: So can you [believers] hope that such people will believe you, when some of them used to hear the words of God and then deliberately twist them, even when they understood them
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Have ye any hope that they will be true to you when a party of them used to listen to the word of Allah, then used to change it, after they had understood it, knowingly

یَـٰنِسَاۤءَ ٱلنَّبِیِّ لَسۡتُنَّ كَأَحَدࣲ مِّنَ ٱلنِّسَاۤءِۛ إِنِ ٱتَّقَیۡتُنَّۛ فَلَا تَخۡضَعۡنَ بِٱلۡقَوۡلِ فَیَطۡمَعَ ٱلَّذِی فِی قَلۡبِهِۦ مَرَضࣱ وَقُلۡنَ قَوۡلࣰا مَّعۡرُوفࣰا ۝٣٢
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): O wives of the Prophet, you are not like anyone among women. If you fear Allah , then do not be soft in speech [to men], lest he in whose heart is disease should covet, but speak with appropriate speech
Abdel Haleem: Wives of the Prophet, you are not like any other woman. If you are truly mindful of God, do not speak too softly in case the sick at heart should lust after you, but speak in an appropriate manner
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: O ye wives of the Prophet! Ye are not like any other women. If ye keep your duty (to Allah), then be not soft of speech, lest he in whose heart is a disease aspire (to you), but utter customary speech
The Table, The Table Spread 5:84 Verb
وَمَا لَنَا لَا نُؤۡمِنُ بِٱللَّهِ وَمَا جَاۤءَنَا مِنَ ٱلۡحَقِّ وَنَطۡمَعُ أَن یُدۡخِلَنَا رَبُّنَا مَعَ ٱلۡقَوۡمِ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِینَ ۝٨٤
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And why should we not believe in Allah and what has come to us of the truth? And we aspire that our Lord will admit us [to Paradise] with the righteous people."
Abdel Haleem: Why should we not believe in God and in the Truth that has come down to us, when we long for our Lord to include us in the company of the righteous?’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: How should we not believe in Allah and that which hath come unto us of the Truth. And (how should we not) hope that our Lord will bring us in along with righteous folk
The Ascending Stairways, The Ladders 70:38 Verb
أَیَطۡمَعُ كُلُّ ٱمۡرِىࣲٕ مِّنۡهُمۡ أَن یُدۡخَلَ جَنَّةَ نَعِیمࣲ ۝٣٨
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Does every person among them aspire to enter a garden of pleasure
Abdel Haleem: Does every one of them expect to enter a Garden of bliss
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Doth every man among them hope to enter the Garden of Delight
The Cloaked One, The Man Wearing a Cloak, The Clothed One 74:15 Verb
ثُمَّ یَطۡمَعُ أَنۡ أَزِیدَ ۝١٥
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Then he desires that I should add more
Abdel Haleem: yet he still hopes I will give him more
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Yet he desireth that I should give more
The Heights, The Elevated Places 7:46 Verb
وَبَیۡنَهُمَا حِجَابࣱۚ وَعَلَى ٱلۡأَعۡرَافِ رِجَالࣱ یَعۡرِفُونَ كُلَّۢا بِسِیمَىٰهُمۡۚ وَنَادَوۡا۟ أَصۡحَـٰبَ ٱلۡجَنَّةِ أَن سَلَـٰمٌ عَلَیۡكُمۡۚ لَمۡ یَدۡخُلُوهَا وَهُمۡ یَطۡمَعُونَ ۝٤٦
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And between them will be a partition, and on [its] elevations are men who recognize all by their mark. And they call out to the companions of Paradise, "Peace be upon you." They have not [yet] entered it, but they long intensely
Abdel Haleem: A barrier divides the two groups with men on its heights recognizing each group by their marks: they will call out to the people of the Garden, ‘Peace be with you!’- they will not have entered, but they will be hoping
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Between them is a veil. And on the Heights are men who know them all by their marks. And they call unto the dwellers of the Garden: Peace be unto you! They enter it not although they hope (to enter)

The Thunder 13:12 Noun
هُوَ ٱلَّذِی یُرِیكُمُ ٱلۡبَرۡقَ خَوۡفࣰا وَطَمَعࣰا وَیُنشِئُ ٱلسَّحَابَ ٱلثِّقَالَ ۝١٢
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): It is He who shows you lightening, [causing] fear and aspiration, and generates the heavy clouds
Abdel Haleem: It is He who shows you the lightning, inspiring fear and hope; He builds up the clouds heavy with rain
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: He it is Who showeth you the lightning, a fear and a hope, and raiseth the heavy clouds
The Romans, The Byzantines 30:24 Noun
وَمِنۡ ءَایَـٰتِهِۦ یُرِیكُمُ ٱلۡبَرۡقَ خَوۡفࣰا وَطَمَعࣰا وَیُنَزِّلُ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَاۤءِ مَاۤءࣰ فَیُحۡیِۦ بِهِ ٱلۡأَرۡضَ بَعۡدَ مَوۡتِهَاۤۚ إِنَّ فِی ذَ ٰلِكَ لَءَایَـٰتࣲ لِّقَوۡمࣲ یَعۡقِلُونَ ۝٢٤
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And of His signs is [that] He shows you the lightening [causing] fear and aspiration, and He sends down rain from the sky by which He brings to life the earth after its lifelessness. Indeed in that are signs for a people who use reason
Abdel Haleem: Among His signs, too, are that He shows you the lightning that terrifies and inspires hope; that He sends water down from the sky to restore the earth to life after death. There truly are signs in this for those who use their reason
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And of His signs is this: He showeth you the lightning for a fear and for a hope, and sendeth down water from the sky, and thereby quickeneth the earth after her death. Lo! herein indeed are portents for folk who understand

تَتَجَافَىٰ جُنُوبُهُمۡ عَنِ ٱلۡمَضَاجِعِ یَدۡعُونَ رَبَّهُمۡ خَوۡفࣰا وَطَمَعࣰا وَمِمَّا رَزَقۡنَـٰهُمۡ یُنفِقُونَ ۝١٦
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): They arise from [their] beds; they supplicate their Lord in fear and aspiration, and from what We have provided them, they spend
Abdel Haleem: Their sides shun their beds in order to pray to their Lord in fear and hope; they give to others some of what We have given them
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Who forsake their beds to cry unto their Lord in fear and hope, and spend of that We have bestowed on them
The Heights, The Elevated Places 7:56 Noun
وَلَا تُفۡسِدُوا۟ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ بَعۡدَ إِصۡلَـٰحِهَا وَٱدۡعُوهُ خَوۡفࣰا وَطَمَعًاۚ إِنَّ رَحۡمَتَ ٱللَّهِ قَرِیبࣱ مِّنَ ٱلۡمُحۡسِنِینَ ۝٥٦
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And cause not corruption upon the earth after its reformation. And invoke Him in fear and aspiration. Indeed, the mercy of Allah is near to the doers of good
Abdel Haleem: do not corrupt the earth after it has been set right- call on Him fearing and hoping. The mercy of God is close to those who do good
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Work not confusion in the earth after the fair ordering (thereof). and call on Him in fear and hope. Lo! the mercy of Allah is nigh unto the good
