Hud 11:47 Verb
قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّیۤ أَعُوذُ بِكَ أَنۡ أَسۡءَلَكَ مَا لَیۡسَ لِی بِهِۦ عِلۡمࣱۖ وَإِلَّا تَغۡفِرۡ لِی وَتَرۡحَمۡنِیۤ أَكُن مِّنَ ٱلۡخَـٰسِرِینَ ۝٤٧
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): [Noah] said, "My Lord, I seek refuge in You from asking that of which I have no knowledge. And unless You forgive me and have mercy upon me, I will be among the losers."
Abdel Haleem: He said, ‘My Lord, I take refuge with You from asking for things I know nothing about. If You do not forgive me, and have mercy on me, I shall be one of the losers.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: He said: My Lord! Lo! in Thee do I seek refuge (from the sin) that I should ask of Thee that whereof I have no knowledge. Unless Thou forgive me and have mercy on me I shall be among the lost
The Bee 16:98 Verb
فَإِذَا قَرَأۡتَ ٱلۡقُرۡءَانَ فَٱسۡتَعِذۡ بِٱللَّهِ مِنَ ٱلشَّیۡطَـٰنِ ٱلرَّجِیمِ ۝٩٨
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): So when you recite the Qur'an, [first] seek refuge in Allah from Satan, the expelled [from His mercy]
Abdel Haleem: [Prophet], when you recite the Quran, seek God’s protection from the outcast, Satan
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And when thou recitest the Qur'an, seek refuge in Allah from Satan the outcast
Mary 19:18 Verb
قَالَتۡ إِنِّیۤ أَعُوذُ بِٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ مِنكَ إِن كُنتَ تَقِیࣰّا ۝١٨
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): She said, "Indeed, I seek refuge in the Most Merciful from you, [so leave me], if you should be fearing of Allah ."
Abdel Haleem: She said, ‘I seek the Lord of Mercy’s protection against you: if you have any fear of Him [do not approach]!’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: She said: Lo! I seek refuge in the Beneficent One from thee, if thou art Allah-fearing
The Believers 23:97 Verb
وَقُل رَّبِّ أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنۡ هَمَزَ ٰتِ ٱلشَّیَـٰطِینِ ۝٩٧
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And say, "My Lord, I seek refuge in You from the incitements of the devils
Abdel Haleem: and say, ‘Lord, I take refuge with You from the goadings of the evil ones
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And say: My Lord! I seek refuge in Thee from suggestions of the evil ones
The Believers 23:98 Verb
وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ رَبِّ أَن یَحۡضُرُونِ ۝٩٨
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And I seek refuge in You, my Lord , lest they be present with me."
Abdel Haleem: I seek refuge with you, Lord, so that they may not come near me.’

The Cow 2:67 Verb
وَإِذۡ قَالَ مُوسَىٰ لِقَوۡمِهِۦۤ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ یَأۡمُرُكُمۡ أَن تَذۡبَحُوا۟ بَقَرَةࣰۖ قَالُوۤا۟ أَتَتَّخِذُنَا هُزُوࣰاۖ قَالَ أَعُوذُ بِٱللَّهِ أَنۡ أَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلۡجَـٰهِلِینَ ۝٦٧
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And [recall] when Moses said to his people, "Indeed, Allah commands you to slaughter a cow." They said, "Do you take us in ridicule?" He said, "I seek refuge in Allah from being among the ignorant."
Abdel Haleem: Remember when Moses said to his people, ‘God commands you to sacrifice a cow.’ They said, ‘Are you making fun of us?’ He answered, ‘God forbid that I should be so ignorant.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And when Moses said unto his people: Lo! Allah commandeth you that ye sacrifice a cow, they said: Dost thou make game of us? He answered: Allah forbid that I should be among the foolish
The Family of Imran, The House of Imran 3:36 Verb
فَلَمَّا وَضَعَتۡهَا قَالَتۡ رَبِّ إِنِّی وَضَعۡتُهَاۤ أُنثَىٰ وَٱللَّهُ أَعۡلَمُ بِمَا وَضَعَتۡ وَلَیۡسَ ٱلذَّكَرُ كَٱلۡأُنثَىٰۖ وَإِنِّی سَمَّیۡتُهَا مَرۡیَمَ وَإِنِّیۤ أُعِیذُهَا بِكَ وَذُرِّیَّتَهَا مِنَ ٱلشَّیۡطَـٰنِ ٱلرَّجِیمِ ۝٣٦
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): But when she delivered her, she said, "My Lord, I have delivered a female." And Allah was most knowing of what she delivered, "And the male is not like the female. And I have named her Mary, and I seek refuge for her in You and [for] her descendants from Satan, the expelled [from the mercy of Allah ]."
Abdel Haleem: but when she gave birth, she said, ‘My Lord! I have given birth to a girl’- God knew best what she had given birth to: the male is not like the female- ‘ I name her Mary and I commend her and her offspring to Your protection from the rejected Satan.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And when she was delivered she said: My Lord! Lo! I am delivered of a female - Allah knew best of what she was delivered - the male is not as the female; and lo! I have named her Mary, and lo! I crave Thy protection for her and for her offspring from Satan the outcast
The Forgiver, The Forgiving One 40:27 Verb
وَقَالَ مُوسَىٰۤ إِنِّی عُذۡتُ بِرَبِّی وَرَبِّكُم مِّن كُلِّ مُتَكَبِّرࣲ لَّا یُؤۡمِنُ بِیَوۡمِ ٱلۡحِسَابِ ۝٢٧
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): But Moses said, "Indeed, I have sought refuge in my Lord and your Lord from every arrogant one who does not believe in the Day of Account."
Abdel Haleem: Moses said, ‘I seek refuge with my Lord and yours from every tyrant who refuses to believe in the Day of Reckoning.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Moses said: Lo! I seek refuge in my Lord and your Lord from every scorner who believeth not in a Day of Reckoning
The Forgiver, The Forgiving One 40:56 Verb
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِینَ یُجَـٰدِلُونَ فِیۤ ءَایَـٰتِ ٱللَّهِ بِغَیۡرِ سُلۡطَـٰنٍ أَتَىٰهُمۡ إِن فِی صُدُورِهِمۡ إِلَّا كِبۡرࣱ مَّا هُم بِبَـٰلِغِیهِۚ فَٱسۡتَعِذۡ بِٱللَّهِۖ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلسَّمِیعُ ٱلۡبَصِیرُ ۝٥٦
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Indeed, those who dispute concerning the signs of Allah without [any] authority having come to them - there is not within their breasts except pride, [the extent of] which they cannot reach. So seek refuge in Allah . Indeed, it is He who is the Hearing, the Seeing
Abdel Haleem: As for those who, with no authority to do so, dispute God’s messages, there is nothing in their hearts but a thirst for a greatness they will never attain. Seek refuge in God, for He is the All Hearing, the All Seeing
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Lo! those who wrangle concerning the revelations of Allah without a warrant having come unto them, there is naught else in their breasts save pride which they will never attain. So take thou refuge in Allah. Lo! He, only He, is the Hearer, the Seer
Explained in Detail, Revelations Well Expounded 41:36 Verb
وَإِمَّا یَنزَغَنَّكَ مِنَ ٱلشَّیۡطَـٰنِ نَزۡغࣱ فَٱسۡتَعِذۡ بِٱللَّهِۖ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلسَّمِیعُ ٱلۡعَلِیمُ ۝٣٦
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And if there comes to you from Satan an evil suggestion, then seek refuge in Allah . Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing
Abdel Haleem: If a prompting from Satan should stir you, seek refuge with God: He is the All Hearing and the All Knowing
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And if a whisper from the devil reach thee (O Muhammad) then seek refuge in Allah. Lo! He is the Hearer, the Knower
Smoke, The Evident Smoke 44:20 Verb
وَإِنِّی عُذۡتُ بِرَبِّی وَرَبِّكُمۡ أَن تَرۡجُمُونِ ۝٢٠
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And indeed, I have sought refuge in my Lord and your Lord, lest you stone me
Abdel Haleem: I seek refuge in my Lord and yours against your insults
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And lo! I have sought refuge in my Lord and your Lord lest ye stone me to death
The Jinn 72:6 Verb
وَأَنَّهُۥ كَانَ رِجَالࣱ مِّنَ ٱلۡإِنسِ یَعُوذُونَ بِرِجَالࣲ مِّنَ ٱلۡجِنِّ فَزَادُوهُمۡ رَهَقࣰا ۝٦
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And there were men from mankind who sought refuge in men from the jinn, so they [only] increased them in burden
Abdel Haleem: Men have sought refuge with the jinn in the past, but they only misguided them further
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And indeed (O Muhammad) individuals of humankind used to invoke the protection of individuals of the jinn, so that they increased them in revolt against Allah)
The Heights, The Elevated Places 7:200 Verb
وَإِمَّا یَنزَغَنَّكَ مِنَ ٱلشَّیۡطَـٰنِ نَزۡغࣱ فَٱسۡتَعِذۡ بِٱللَّهِۚ إِنَّهُۥ سَمِیعٌ عَلِیمٌ ۝٢٠٠
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And if an evil suggestion comes to you from Satan, then seek refuge in Allah . Indeed, He is Hearing and Knowing
Abdel Haleem: If Satan should prompt you to do something, seek refuge with God- He is all hearing, all knowing
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And if a slander from the devil wound thee, then seek refuge in Allah. Lo! He is Hearer, Knower

Joseph 12:23 Noun
وَرَ ٰوَدَتۡهُ ٱلَّتِی هُوَ فِی بَیۡتِهَا عَن نَّفۡسِهِۦ وَغَلَّقَتِ ٱلۡأَبۡوَ ٰبَ وَقَالَتۡ هَیۡتَ لَكَۚ قَالَ مَعَاذَ ٱللَّهِۖ إِنَّهُۥ رَبِّیۤ أَحۡسَنَ مَثۡوَایَۖ إِنَّهُۥ لَا یُفۡلِحُ ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ ۝٢٣
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And she, in whose house he was, sought to seduce him. She closed the doors and said, "Come, you." He said, "[I seek] the refuge of Allah . Indeed, he is my master, who has made good my residence. Indeed, wrongdoers will not succeed."
Abdel Haleem: The woman in whose house he was living tried to seduce him: she bolted the doors and said, ‘Come to me,’ and he replied, ‘God forbid! My master has been good to me; wrongdoers never prosper.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And she, in whose house he was, asked of him an evil act. She bolted the doors and said: Come! He said: I seek refuge in Allah! Lo! he is my lord, who hath treated me honourably. Lo! wrong-doers never prosper
Joseph 12:79 Noun
قَالَ مَعَاذَ ٱللَّهِ أَن نَّأۡخُذَ إِلَّا مَن وَجَدۡنَا مَتَـٰعَنَا عِندَهُۥۤ إِنَّاۤ إِذࣰا لَّظَـٰلِمُونَ ۝٧٩
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): He said, "[I seek] the refuge of Allah [to prevent] that we take except him with whom we found our possession. Indeed, we would then be unjust."
Abdel Haleem: He replied, ‘God forbid that we should take anyone other than the person on whom we found our property: that would be unjust of us.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: He said: Allah forbid that we should seize save him with whom we found our property; then truly we should be wrong-doers
