The Thunder 13:32 Verb
وَلَقَدِ ٱسۡتُهۡزِئَ بِرُسُلࣲ مِّن قَبۡلِكَ فَأَمۡلَیۡتُ لِلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوا۟ ثُمَّ أَخَذۡتُهُمۡۖ فَكَیۡفَ كَانَ عِقَابِ ۝٣٢
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And already were [other] messengers ridiculed before you, and I extended the time of those who disbelieved; then I seized them, and how [terrible] was My penalty
Abdel Haleem: Many messengers before you [Muhammad] were mocked, but I granted respite to the disbelievers: in the end, I took them to task- how terrible My punishment was
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And verily messengers (of Allah) were mocked before thee, but long I bore with those who disbelieved. At length I seized them, and how (awful) was My punishment
The Pilgrimage 22:44 Verb
وَأَصۡحَـٰبُ مَدۡیَنَۖ وَكُذِّبَ مُوسَىٰۖ فَأَمۡلَیۡتُ لِلۡكَـٰفِرِینَ ثُمَّ أَخَذۡتُهُمۡۖ فَكَیۡفَ كَانَ نَكِیرِ ۝٤٤
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And the inhabitants of Madyan. And Moses was denied, so I prolonged enjoyment for the disbelievers; then I seized them, and how [terrible] was My reproach
Abdel Haleem: Midian. Moses too was called a liar. I gave the disbelievers time, but in the end I punished them. How I condemned them
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: (And) the dwellers in Midian. And Moses was denied; but I indulged the disbelievers a long while, then I seized them, and how (terrible) was My abhorrence
The Pilgrimage 22:48 Verb
وَكَأَیِّن مِّن قَرۡیَةٍ أَمۡلَیۡتُ لَهَا وَهِیَ ظَالِمَةࣱ ثُمَّ أَخَذۡتُهَا وَإِلَیَّ ٱلۡمَصِیرُ ۝٤٨
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And for how many a city did I prolong enjoyment while it was committing wrong. Then I seized it, and to Me is the [final] destination
Abdel Haleem: To many a town steeped in wrongdoing I gave more time and then struck them down: they all return to Me in the end
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And how many a township did I suffer long though it was sinful! Then I grasped it. Unto Me is the return
The Criterion, The Standard 25:5 Verb
وَقَالُوۤا۟ أَسَـٰطِیرُ ٱلۡأَوَّلِینَ ٱكۡتَتَبَهَا فَهِیَ تُمۡلَىٰ عَلَیۡهِ بُكۡرَةࣰ وَأَصِیلࣰا ۝٥
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And they say, "Legends of the former peoples which he has written down, and they are dictated to him morning and afternoon."
Abdel Haleem: and they say, ‘It is just ancient fables, which he has had written down: they are dictated to him morning and evening.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And they say: Fables of the men of old which he hath had written down so that they are dictated to him morn and evening
The Family of Imran, The House of Imran 3:178 Verb
وَلَا یَحۡسَبَنَّ ٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوۤا۟ أَنَّمَا نُمۡلِی لَهُمۡ خَیۡرࣱ لِّأَنفُسِهِمۡۚ إِنَّمَا نُمۡلِی لَهُمۡ لِیَزۡدَادُوۤا۟ إِثۡمࣰاۖ وَلَهُمۡ عَذَابࣱ مُّهِینࣱ ۝١٧٨
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And let not those who disbelieve ever think that [because] We extend their time [of enjoyment] it is better for them. We only extend it for them so that they may increase in sin, and for them is a humiliating punishment
Abdel Haleem: The disbelievers should not think that it is better for them that We give them more time: when We give them more time they become more sinful- a shameful torment awaits them
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And let not those who disbelieve imagine that the rein We give them bodeth good unto their souls. We only give them rein that they may grow in sinfulness. And theirs will be a shameful doom
Muhammad 47:25 Verb
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِینَ ٱرۡتَدُّوا۟ عَلَىٰۤ أَدۡبَـٰرِهِم مِّنۢ بَعۡدِ مَا تَبَیَّنَ لَهُمُ ٱلۡهُدَى ٱلشَّیۡطَـٰنُ سَوَّلَ لَهُمۡ وَأَمۡلَىٰ لَهُمۡ ۝٢٥
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Indeed, those who reverted back [to disbelief] after guidance had become clear to them - Satan enticed them and prolonged hope for them
Abdel Haleem: Those who turn on their heels after being shown guidance are duped and tempted by Satan
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Lo! those who turn back after the guidance hath been manifested unto them, Satan hath seduced them, and He giveth them the rein
The Pen 68:45 Verb
وَأُمۡلِی لَهُمۡۚ إِنَّ كَیۡدِی مَتِینٌ ۝٤٥
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And I will give them time. Indeed, My plan is firm
Abdel Haleem: I will allow them more time, for My plan is powerful
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Yet I bear with them, for lo! My scheme is firm
The Heights, The Elevated Places 7:183 Verb
وَأُمۡلِی لَهُمۡۚ إِنَّ كَیۡدِی مَتِینٌ ۝١٨٣
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And I will give them time. Indeed, my plan is firm
Abdel Haleem: I will give them respite, but My plan is sure

قَالَ أَرَاغِبٌ أَنتَ عَنۡ ءَالِهَتِی یَـٰۤإِبۡرَ ٰهِیمُۖ لَىِٕن لَّمۡ تَنتَهِ لَأَرۡجُمَنَّكَۖ وَٱهۡجُرۡنِی مَلِیࣰّا ۝٤٦
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): [His father] said, "Have you no desire for my gods, O Abraham? If you do not desist, I will surely stone you, so avoid me a prolonged time."
Abdel Haleem: His father answered, ‘Abraham, do you reject my gods? I will stone you if you do not stop this. Keep out of my way!’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: He said: Rejectest thou my gods, O Abraham? If thou cease not, I shall surely stone thee. Depart from me a long while
