106 قَالُوا۟ رَبَّنَا غَلَبَتۡ عَلَیۡنَا شِقۡوَتُنَا وَكُنَّا قَوۡمࣰا ضَاۤلِّینَ ۝١٠٦ qālū rabbanā ghalabat ʿalaynā shiq'watunā wakunnā qawman ḍāllīn They will say, ‘Lord, our waywardness overcame us and we went astray 107 رَبَّنَاۤ أَخۡرِجۡنَا مِنۡهَا فَإِنۡ عُدۡنَا فَإِنَّا ظَـٰلِمُونَ ۝١٠٧ rabbanā akhrij'nā min'hā fa-in ʿud'nā fa-innā ẓālimūn Lord, take us away from this and if we go back to our old ways, then we shall really be evildoers.’ 108 قَالَ ٱخۡسَءُوا۟ فِیهَا وَلَا تُكَلِّمُونِ ۝١٠٨ qāla ikh'saū fīhā walā tukallimūn He will say, ‘Away with you! In you go! Do not speak to Me 109 إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ فَرِیقࣱ مِّنۡ عِبَادِی یَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَاۤ ءَامَنَّا فَٱغۡفِرۡ لَنَا وَٱرۡحَمۡنَا وَأَنتَ خَیۡرُ ٱلرَّ ٰحِمِینَ ۝١٠٩ innahu kāna farīqun min ʿibādī yaqūlūna rabbanā āmannā fa-igh'fir lanā wa-ir'ḥamnā wa-anta khayru l-rāḥimīn Among My servants there were those who said, “Lord, We believe. Forgive us and have mercy on us: You are the most merciful of all.”
110 فَٱتَّخَذۡتُمُوهُمۡ سِخۡرِیًّا حَتَّىٰۤ أَنسَوۡكُمۡ ذِكۡرِی وَكُنتُم مِّنۡهُمۡ تَضۡحَكُونَ ۝١١٠ fa-ittakhadhtumūhum sikh'riyyan ḥattā ansawkum dhik'rī wakuntum min'hum taḍḥakūn But you kept on laughing at them: so intent were you on laughing at them that it made you forget My warning
111 إِنِّی جَزَیۡتُهُمُ ٱلۡیَوۡمَ بِمَا صَبَرُوۤا۟ أَنَّهُمۡ هُمُ ٱلۡفَاۤىِٕزُونَ ۝١١١ innī jazaytuhumu l-yawma bimā ṣabarū annahum humu l-fāizūn Today I have rewarded them for their patience: it is they who will succeed.’ 112 قَـٰلَ كَمۡ لَبِثۡتُمۡ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ عَدَدَ سِنِینَ ۝١١٢ qāla kam labith'tum fī l-arḍi ʿadada sinīn He will say, ‘How many years were you on earth?’ 113 قَالُوا۟ لَبِثۡنَا یَوۡمًا أَوۡ بَعۡضَ یَوۡمࣲ فَسۡءَلِ ٱلۡعَاۤدِّینَ ۝١١٣ qālū labith'nā yawman aw baʿḍa yawmin fasali l-ʿādīn and they will reply, ‘We stayed a day or a part of a day, but ask those who keep count.’ 114 قَـٰلَ إِن لَّبِثۡتُمۡ إِلَّا قَلِیلࣰاۖ لَّوۡ أَنَّكُمۡ كُنتُمۡ تَعۡلَمُونَ ۝١١٤ qāla in labith'tum illā qalīlan law annakum kuntum taʿlamūn He will say, ‘You stayed but a little, if you had only known
