Verse 26:209 in Context

205 أَفَرَءَیۡتَ إِن مَّتَّعۡنَـٰهُمۡ سِنِینَ ۝٢٠٥ afara-ayta in mattaʿnāhum sinīn Think, if we let them enjoy this life for some year 206 ثُمَّ جَاۤءَهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ یُوعَدُونَ ۝٢٠٦ thumma jāahum mā kānū yūʿadūn and then the promised torment came upon them 207 مَاۤ أَغۡنَىٰ عَنۡهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ یُمَتَّعُونَ ۝٢٠٧ mā aghnā ʿanhum mā kānū yumattaʿūn what good would their past enjoyment be to them 208 وَمَاۤ أَهۡلَكۡنَا مِن قَرۡیَةٍ إِلَّا لَهَا مُنذِرُونَ ۝٢٠٨ wamā ahlaknā min qaryatin illā lahā mundhirūn Never have We destroyed a town without sending down messengers to warn it
209 ذِكۡرَىٰ وَمَا كُنَّا ظَـٰلِمِینَ ۝٢٠٩ dhik'rā wamā kunnā ẓālimīn as a reminder from Us: We are never unjust
210 وَمَا تَنَزَّلَتۡ بِهِ ٱلشَّیَـٰطِینُ ۝٢١٠ wamā tanazzalat bihi l-shayāṭīn It was not the jinn who brought down this Quran 211 وَمَا یَنۢبَغِی لَهُمۡ وَمَا یَسۡتَطِیعُونَ ۝٢١١ wamā yanbaghī lahum wamā yastaṭīʿūn it is neither in their interests nor in their power 212 إِنَّهُمۡ عَنِ ٱلسَّمۡعِ لَمَعۡزُولُونَ ۝٢١٢ innahum ʿani l-samʿi lamaʿzūlūn indeed they are prevented from overhearing it 213 فَلَا تَدۡعُ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ إِلَـٰهًا ءَاخَرَ فَتَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُعَذَّبِینَ ۝٢١٣ falā tadʿu maʿa l-lahi ilāhan ākhara fatakūna mina l-muʿadhabīn So [Prophet] do not invoke any gods beside God, or you will incur punishment
