Verse 26:56 in Context

52 ۞ وَأَوۡحَیۡنَاۤ إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰۤ أَنۡ أَسۡرِ بِعِبَادِیۤ إِنَّكُم مُّتَّبَعُونَ ۝٥٢ wa-awḥaynā ilā mūsā an asri biʿibādī innakum muttabaʿūn Then We revealed Our will to Moses, ‘Leave with My servants by night, for you will be pursued!’ 53 فَأَرۡسَلَ فِرۡعَوۡنُ فِی ٱلۡمَدَاۤىِٕنِ حَـٰشِرِینَ ۝٥٣ fa-arsala fir'ʿawnu fī l-madāini ḥāshirīn Pharaoh sent messengers into the cities, proclaiming 54 إِنَّ هَـٰۤؤُلَاۤءِ لَشِرۡذِمَةࣱ قَلِیلُونَ ۝٥٤ inna hāulāi lashir'dhimatun qalīlūn ‘These people are a puny band–– 55 وَإِنَّهُمۡ لَنَا لَغَاۤىِٕظُونَ ۝٥٥ wa-innahum lanā laghāiẓūn they have enraged us
56 وَإِنَّا لَجَمِیعٌ حَـٰذِرُونَ ۝٥٦ wa-innā lajamīʿun ḥādhirūn and we are a large army, on the alert.’
57 فَأَخۡرَجۡنَـٰهُم مِّن جَنَّـٰتࣲ وَعُیُونࣲ ۝٥٧ fa-akhrajnāhum min jannātin waʿuyūni So it was that We made them leave their gardens and their springs 58 وَكُنُوزࣲ وَمَقَامࣲ كَرِیمࣲ ۝٥٨ wakunūzin wamaqāmin karīmi their treasures and their noble dwellings 59 كَذَ ٰلِكَۖ وَأَوۡرَثۡنَـٰهَا بَنِیۤ إِسۡرَ ٰۤءِیلَ ۝٥٩ kadhālika wa-awrathnāhā banī is'rāīl We gave [such] things [later]to the Children of Israel 60 فَأَتۡبَعُوهُم مُّشۡرِقِینَ ۝٦٠ fa-atbaʿūhum mush'riqīn Pharaoh and his people pursued them at sunrise
