7 إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ أَعۡلَمُ بِمَن ضَلَّ عَن سَبِیلِهِۦ وَهُوَ أَعۡلَمُ بِٱلۡمُهۡتَدِینَ ۝٧ inna rabbaka huwa aʿlamu biman ḍalla ʿan sabīlihi wahuwa aʿlamu bil-muh'tadīn Your Lord knows best who strays from His path and who is rightly guided 8 فَلَا تُطِعِ ٱلۡمُكَذِّبِینَ ۝٨ falā tuṭiʿi l-mukadhibīn So do not yield to those who deny the truth–– 9 وَدُّوا۟ لَوۡ تُدۡهِنُ فَیُدۡهِنُونَ ۝٩ waddū law tud'hinu fayud'hinūn they want you to compromise with them and then they will compromise with you–– 10 وَلَا تُطِعۡ كُلَّ حَلَّافࣲ مَّهِینٍ ۝١٠ walā tuṭiʿ kulla ḥallāfin mahīni do not yield to any contemptible swearer
11 هَمَّازࣲ مَّشَّاۤءِۭ بِنَمِیمࣲ ۝١١ hammāzin mashāin binamīmi to any backbiter, slander-monger
12 مَّنَّاعࣲ لِّلۡخَیۡرِ مُعۡتَدٍ أَثِیمٍ ۝١٢ mannāʿin lil'khayri muʿ'tadin athīmi or hinderer of good, to anyone who is sinful, aggressive 13 عُتُلِّۭ بَعۡدَ ذَ ٰلِكَ زَنِیمٍ ۝١٣ an kāna dhā mālin wabanīn coarse, and on top of all that, an imposter 14 أَن كَانَ ذَا مَالࣲ وَبَنِینَ ۝١٤ An kana tha malin wabaneena Just because he has wealth and sons 15 إِذَا تُتۡلَىٰ عَلَیۡهِ ءَایَـٰتُنَا قَالَ أَسَـٰطِیرُ ٱلۡأَوَّلِینَ ۝١٥ idhā tut'lā ʿalayhi āyātunā qāla asāṭīru l-awalīn when our revelations are recited to him, he says, ‘These are just ancient fables.’
