1 Revelation dispels darkness

الۤرۚ كِتَـٰبٌ أَنزَلۡنَـٰهُ إِلَیۡكَ لِتُخۡرِجَ ٱلنَّاسَ مِنَ ٱلظُّلُمَـٰتِ إِلَى ٱلنُّورِ بِإِذۡنِ رَبِّهِمۡ إِلَىٰ صِرَ ٰطِ ٱلۡعَزِیزِ ٱلۡحَمِیدِ ۝١

Alif, Lam, Ra. A book We send it down to you, to exit out the people from the darkness to the light, by their Lord’s permission, to a path of Al-Aaziz (The Almighty), Al-Hameed (The Praiseworthy).

alif-lam-ra kitābun anzalnāhu ilayka litukh'rija l-nāsa mina l-ẓulumāti ilā l-nūri bi-idh'ni rabbihim ilā ṣirāṭi l-ʿazīzi l-ḥamīd

ٱللَّهِ ٱلَّذِی لَهُۥ مَا فِی ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَمَا فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِۗ وَوَیۡلࣱ لِّلۡكَـٰفِرِینَ مِنۡ عَذَابࣲ شَدِیدٍ ۝٢

Allah is the one for Him whatever is in the skies and whatever is in the earth. And woe for the infidels from a severe torment.

al-lahi alladhī lahu mā fī l-samāwāti wamā fī l-arḍi wawaylun lil'kāfirīna min ʿadhābin shadīdi

ٱلَّذِینَ یَسۡتَحِبُّونَ ٱلۡحَیَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنۡیَا عَلَى ٱلۡءَاخِرَةِ وَیَصُدُّونَ عَن سَبِیلِ ٱللَّهِ وَیَبۡغُونَهَا عِوَجًاۚ أُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ فِی ضَلَـٰلِۭ بَعِیدࣲ ۝٣

Those who love the Dunya (Present) life more than the Hereafter, and hinder Allah's pathway, and seek its crookedness, those are in a farthest astray.

alladhīna yastaḥibbūna l-ḥayata l-dun'yā ʿalā l-ākhirati wayaṣuddūna ʿan sabīli l-lahi wayabghūnahā ʿiwajan ulāika fī ḍalālin baʿīdi

وَمَاۤ أَرۡسَلۡنَا مِن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا بِلِسَانِ قَوۡمِهِۦ لِیُبَیِّنَ لَهُمۡۖ فَیُضِلُّ ٱللَّهُ مَن یَشَاۤءُ وَیَهۡدِی مَن یَشَاۤءُۚ وَهُوَ ٱلۡعَزِیزُ ٱلۡحَكِیمُ ۝٤

And We did not send a messenger except with his kinfolk tongue language, to demonstrate for them. So, Allah strays whoever He wills, and guides whoever He wills. He is Al-Aziz (The Almighty), Al-Hakeem (The Wise).

wamā arsalnā min rasūlin illā bilisāni qawmihi liyubayyina lahum fayuḍillu l-lahu man yashāu wayahdī man yashāu wahuwa l-ʿazīzu l-ḥakīm

وَلَقَدۡ أَرۡسَلۡنَا مُوسَىٰ بِءَایَـٰتِنَاۤ أَنۡ أَخۡرِجۡ قَوۡمَكَ مِنَ ٱلظُّلُمَـٰتِ إِلَى ٱلنُّورِ وَذَكِّرۡهُم بِأَیَّىٰمِ ٱللَّهِۚ إِنَّ فِی ذَ ٰلِكَ لَءَایَـٰتࣲ لِّكُلِّ صَبَّارࣲ شَكُورࣲ ۝٥

And We already sent Moses with Our verses that: “Exit your kinfolk out from the darkness to the light and remind them with Allah’s days.” Surely, within that is verses for every patient and thankful one.”

walaqad arsalnā mūsā biāyātinā an akhrij qawmaka mina l-ẓulumāti ilā l-nūri wadhakkir'hum bi-ayyāmi l-lahi inna fī dhālika laāyātin likulli ṣabbārin shakūri

وَإِذۡ قَالَ مُوسَىٰ لِقَوۡمِهِ ٱذۡكُرُوا۟ نِعۡمَةَ ٱللَّهِ عَلَیۡكُمۡ إِذۡ أَنجَىٰكُم مِّنۡ ءَالِ فِرۡعَوۡنَ یَسُومُونَكُمۡ سُوۤءَ ٱلۡعَذَابِ وَیُذَبِّحُونَ أَبۡنَاۤءَكُمۡ وَیَسۡتَحۡیُونَ نِسَاۤءَكُمۡۚ وَفِی ذَ ٰلِكُم بَلَاۤءࣱ مِّن رَّبِّكُمۡ عَظِیمࣱ ۝٦

And when Moses said to his kinfolk, “Remember Allah’s graces upon you, when He saved you from Pharaoh’s folk, were afflicting you with the bad torment, slaughtering your sons and letting your women live. And, in that was a great scourge from your Lord.”

wa-idh qāla mūsā liqawmihi udh'kurū niʿ'mata l-lahi ʿalaykum idh anjākum min āli fir'ʿawna yasūmūnakum sūa l-ʿadhābi wayudhabbiḥūna abnāakum wayastaḥyūna nisāakum wafī dhālikum balāon min rabbikum ʿaẓīmu

2 Truth is rejected first

وَإِذۡ تَأَذَّنَ رَبُّكُمۡ لَىِٕن شَكَرۡتُمۡ لَأَزِیدَنَّكُمۡۖ وَلَىِٕن كَفَرۡتُمۡ إِنَّ عَذَابِی لَشَدِیدࣱ ۝٧

And when your Lord announced: “If you thanked, I would increase you; and if you disbelieved, surely My torment is severe.”

wa-idh ta-adhana rabbukum la-in shakartum la-azīdannakum wala-in kafartum inna ʿadhābī lashadīdu

وَقَالَ مُوسَىٰۤ إِن تَكۡفُرُوۤا۟ أَنتُمۡ وَمَن فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ جَمِیعࣰا فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَغَنِیٌّ حَمِیدٌ ۝٨

And Moses said, “If you disbelieved, you and whoever in the earth altogether, so surely Allah is Rich, Praiseworthy.”

waqāla mūsā in takfurū antum waman fī l-arḍi jamīʿan fa-inna l-laha laghaniyyun ḥamīdu

أَلَمۡ یَأۡتِكُمۡ نَبَؤُا۟ ٱلَّذِینَ مِن قَبۡلِكُمۡ قَوۡمِ نُوحࣲ وَعَادࣲ وَثَمُودَ وَٱلَّذِینَ مِنۢ بَعۡدِهِمۡ لَا یَعۡلَمُهُمۡ إِلَّا ٱللَّهُۚ جَاۤءَتۡهُمۡ رُسُلُهُم بِٱلۡبَیِّنَـٰتِ فَرَدُّوۤا۟ أَیۡدِیَهُمۡ فِیۤ أَفۡوَ ٰهِهِمۡ وَقَالُوۤا۟ إِنَّا كَفَرۡنَا بِمَاۤ أُرۡسِلۡتُم بِهِۦ وَإِنَّا لَفِی شَكࣲّ مِّمَّا تَدۡعُونَنَاۤ إِلَیۡهِ مُرِیبࣲ ۝٩

Has not come to you, news of those before you, Noah’s kinfolk, and Aad, and Thamud, and those after them? None knows them except Allah. Their messengers came to them with the proofs, so they returned their hands in their mouths, and said, “We disbelieved with what you were sent with, and we are in suspicion from what you are calling us to it, doubtedly.”

alam yatikum naba-u alladhīna min qablikum qawmi nūḥin waʿādin wathamūda wa-alladhīna min baʿdihim lā yaʿlamuhum illā l-lahu jāathum rusuluhum bil-bayināti faraddū aydiyahum fī afwāhihim waqālū innā kafarnā bimā ur'sil'tum bihi wa-innā lafī shakkin mimmā tadʿūnanā ilayhi murībi

۞ قَالَتۡ رُسُلُهُمۡ أَفِی ٱللَّهِ شَكࣱّ فَاطِرِ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۖ یَدۡعُوكُمۡ لِیَغۡفِرَ لَكُم مِّن ذُنُوبِكُمۡ وَیُؤَخِّرَكُمۡ إِلَىٰۤ أَجَلࣲ مُّسَمࣰّىۚ قَالُوۤا۟ إِنۡ أَنتُمۡ إِلَّا بَشَرࣱ مِّثۡلُنَا تُرِیدُونَ أَن تَصُدُّونَا عَمَّا كَانَ یَعۡبُدُ ءَابَاۤؤُنَا فَأۡتُونَا بِسُلۡطَـٰنࣲ مُّبِینࣲ ۝١٠

Their messengers said, “Is there in Allah a doubt, Originator of the skies and the earth? He calls you to forgive you among your misdeeds, and to postpone you until a named term.” They said, “You are only humankind like us; you want to avert us about what our parents were worshiped; so, bring us with an obvious sultan.”

qālat rusuluhum afī l-lahi shakkun fāṭiri l-samāwāti wal-arḍi yadʿūkum liyaghfira lakum min dhunūbikum wayu-akhirakum ilā ajalin musamman qālū in antum illā basharun mith'lunā turīdūna an taṣuddūnā ʿammā kāna yaʿbudu ābāunā fatūnā bisul'ṭānin mubīni

قَالَتۡ لَهُمۡ رُسُلُهُمۡ إِن نَّحۡنُ إِلَّا بَشَرࣱ مِّثۡلُكُمۡ وَلَـٰكِنَّ ٱللَّهَ یَمُنُّ عَلَىٰ مَن یَشَاۤءُ مِنۡ عِبَادِهِۦۖ وَمَا كَانَ لَنَاۤ أَن نَّأۡتِیَكُم بِسُلۡطَـٰنٍ إِلَّا بِإِذۡنِ ٱللَّهِۚ وَعَلَى ٱللَّهِ فَلۡیَتَوَكَّلِ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنُونَ ۝١١

Their messengers said to them, “Surely, we are only humankinds like you, but Allah confers favor upon whomever He wills among His slaves. And it was not for us to bring you with a sultan, except with Allah’s permission. And upon Allah, so the believers will rely.”

qālat lahum rusuluhum in naḥnu illā basharun mith'lukum walākinna l-laha yamunnu ʿalā man yashāu min ʿibādihi wamā kāna lanā an natiyakum bisul'ṭānin illā bi-idh'ni l-lahi waʿalā l-lahi falyatawakkali l-mu'minūn

وَمَا لَنَاۤ أَلَّا نَتَوَكَّلَ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ وَقَدۡ هَدَىٰنَا سُبُلَنَاۚ وَلَنَصۡبِرَنَّ عَلَىٰ مَاۤ ءَاذَیۡتُمُونَاۚ وَعَلَى ٱللَّهِ فَلۡیَتَوَكَّلِ ٱلۡمُتَوَكِّلُونَ ۝١٢

“And why are we not relying on Allah, and He already has guided us to our pathways? And we will be patient on whatever you harm us. And upon Allah the relyers should be relying.”

wamā lanā allā natawakkala ʿalā l-lahi waqad hadānā subulanā walanaṣbiranna ʿalā mā ādhaytumūnā waʿalā l-lahi falyatawakkali l-mutawakilūn

3 Opposition is at last destroyed

وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوا۟ لِرُسُلِهِمۡ لَنُخۡرِجَنَّكُم مِّنۡ أَرۡضِنَاۤ أَوۡ لَتَعُودُنَّ فِی مِلَّتِنَاۖ فَأَوۡحَىٰۤ إِلَیۡهِمۡ رَبُّهُمۡ لَنُهۡلِكَنَّ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِینَ ۝١٣

And those who disbelieved said to their messengers, “We will exit you out from our land, or you return in our creed.” So, their Lord revealed to them: “We will destroy the oppressors.”

waqāla alladhīna kafarū lirusulihim lanukh'rijannakum min arḍinā aw lataʿūdunna fī millatinā fa-awḥā ilayhim rabbuhum lanuh'likanna l-ẓālimīn

وَلَنُسۡكِنَنَّكُمُ ٱلۡأَرۡضَ مِنۢ بَعۡدِهِمۡۚ ذَ ٰلِكَ لِمَنۡ خَافَ مَقَامِی وَخَافَ وَعِیدِ ۝١٤

“And we will reside you, on the earth after them. That was for whoever fears My Stature and fears my threat.”

walanus'kinannakumu l-arḍa min baʿdihim dhālika liman khāfa maqāmī wakhāfa waʿīd

وَٱسۡتَفۡتَحُوا۟ وَخَابَ كُلُّ جَبَّارٍ عَنِیدࣲ ۝١٥

And they acquired conquest and failed every stubborn mighty.

wa-is'taftaḥū wakhāba kullu jabbārin ʿanīdi

مِّن وَرَاۤىِٕهِۦ جَهَنَّمُ وَیُسۡقَىٰ مِن مَّاۤءࣲ صَدِیدࣲ ۝١٦

From beyond him is Gohanam (Hell), and he waters from a purulent water.

min warāihi jahannamu wayus'qā min māin ṣadīdi

یَتَجَرَّعُهُۥ وَلَا یَكَادُ یُسِیغُهُۥ وَیَأۡتِیهِ ٱلۡمَوۡتُ مِن كُلِّ مَكَانࣲ وَمَا هُوَ بِمَیِّتࣲۖ وَمِن وَرَاۤىِٕهِۦ عَذَابٌ غَلِیظࣱ ۝١٧

He gulps it, and not almost tolerates its swallow. And death comes at him from every place, and he will not die. And from beyond him, a harsh torment.

yatajarraʿuhu walā yakādu yusīghuhu wayatīhi l-mawtu min kulli makānin wamā huwa bimayyitin wamin warāihi ʿadhābun ghalīẓu

مَّثَلُ ٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوا۟ بِرَبِّهِمۡۖ أَعۡمَـٰلُهُمۡ كَرَمَادٍ ٱشۡتَدَّتۡ بِهِ ٱلرِّیحُ فِی یَوۡمٍ عَاصِفࣲۖ لَّا یَقۡدِرُونَ مِمَّا كَسَبُوا۟ عَلَىٰ شَیۡءࣲۚ ذَ ٰلِكَ هُوَ ٱلضَّلَـٰلُ ٱلۡبَعِیدُ ۝١٨

An example of those who disbelieved in their Lord, their works are like ashes, which the wind blows furiously with it on a stormy day. They are not capable of what they have earned on a thing. That is the farthest astray.

mathalu alladhīna kafarū birabbihim aʿmāluhum karamādin ish'taddat bihi l-rīḥu fī yawmin ʿāṣifin lā yaqdirūna mimmā kasabū ʿalā shayin dhālika huwa l-ḍalālu l-baʿīd

أَلَمۡ تَرَ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ بِٱلۡحَقِّۚ إِن یَشَأۡ یُذۡهِبۡكُمۡ وَیَأۡتِ بِخَلۡقࣲ جَدِیدࣲ ۝١٩

Have you not seen that Allah created the skies and the earth with the right? If He wills, He goes away with you, and brings a new creation.

alam tara anna l-laha khalaqa l-samāwāti wal-arḍa bil-ḥaqi in yasha yudh'hib'kum wayati bikhalqin jadīdi

وَمَا ذَ ٰلِكَ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ بِعَزِیزࣲ ۝٢٠

And that is not mighty upon Allah.

wamā dhālika ʿalā l-lahi biʿazīzi

وَبَرَزُوا۟ لِلَّهِ جَمِیعࣰا فَقَالَ ٱلضُّعَفَـٰۤؤُا۟ لِلَّذِینَ ٱسۡتَكۡبَرُوۤا۟ إِنَّا كُنَّا لَكُمۡ تَبَعࣰا فَهَلۡ أَنتُم مُّغۡنُونَ عَنَّا مِنۡ عَذَابِ ٱللَّهِ مِن شَیۡءࣲۚ قَالُوا۟ لَوۡ هَدَىٰنَا ٱللَّهُ لَهَدَیۡنَـٰكُمۡۖ سَوَاۤءٌ عَلَیۡنَاۤ أَجَزِعۡنَاۤ أَمۡ صَبَرۡنَا مَا لَنَا مِن مَّحِیصࣲ ۝٢١

And they emerged altogether for Allah. So, the weakened said to those who were arrogant, “We were your followers, so are you availing us from Allah’s torment of a thing?” They said, “Had Allah guided us, we would have guided you. It is the same upon us; whether we are impatient, or patient; there is no escape for us.”

wabarazū lillahi jamīʿan faqāla l-ḍuʿafāu lilladhīna is'takbarū innā kunnā lakum tabaʿan fahal antum mugh'nūna ʿannā min ʿadhābi l-lahi min shayin qālū law hadānā l-lahu lahadaynākum sawāon ʿalaynā ajaziʿ'nā am ṣabarnā mā lanā min maḥīṣi

4 Truth is Confirmed

وَقَالَ ٱلشَّیۡطَـٰنُ لَمَّا قُضِیَ ٱلۡأَمۡرُ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ وَعَدَكُمۡ وَعۡدَ ٱلۡحَقِّ وَوَعَدتُّكُمۡ فَأَخۡلَفۡتُكُمۡۖ وَمَا كَانَ لِیَ عَلَیۡكُم مِّن سُلۡطَـٰنٍ إِلَّاۤ أَن دَعَوۡتُكُمۡ فَٱسۡتَجَبۡتُمۡ لِیۖ فَلَا تَلُومُونِی وَلُومُوۤا۟ أَنفُسَكُمۖ مَّاۤ أَنَا۠ بِمُصۡرِخِكُمۡ وَمَاۤ أَنتُم بِمُصۡرِخِیَّ إِنِّی كَفَرۡتُ بِمَاۤ أَشۡرَكۡتُمُونِ مِن قَبۡلُۗ إِنَّ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِینَ لَهُمۡ عَذَابٌ أَلِیمࣱ ۝٢٢

And Satan said, when the matter is decreed, “Surely Allah has promised you the right promise, and I promised you, so I failed you. And I had no Sultan upon you, except that I called you, so you responded to me. So do not blame me and blame yourselves. I cannot scream to your aid, nor can you scream to my aid? I disbelieved with what you are associating with me before. Surely the oppressors for them are a painful torment.”

waqāla l-shayṭānu lammā quḍiya l-amru inna l-laha waʿadakum waʿda l-ḥaqi wawaʿadttukum fa-akhlaftukum wamā kāna liya ʿalaykum min sul'ṭānin illā an daʿawtukum fa-is'tajabtum lī falā talūmūnī walūmū anfusakum mā anā bimuṣ'rikhikum wamā antum bimuṣ'rikhiyya innī kafartu bimā ashraktumūni min qablu inna l-ẓālimīna lahum ʿadhābun alīmu

وَأُدۡخِلَ ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ جَنَّـٰتࣲ تَجۡرِی مِن تَحۡتِهَا ٱلۡأَنۡهَـٰرُ خَـٰلِدِینَ فِیهَا بِإِذۡنِ رَبِّهِمۡۖ تَحِیَّتُهُمۡ فِیهَا سَلَـٰمٌ ۝٢٣

And those who believed and worked the righteous deeds entered paradises beneath which the rivers are running, immortals therein, by their Lord’s permission. Their greeting therein: “Peace.”

wa-ud'khila alladhīna āmanū waʿamilū l-ṣāliḥāti jannātin tajrī min taḥtihā l-anhāru khālidīna fīhā bi-idh'ni rabbihim taḥiyyatuhum fīhā salāmu

أَلَمۡ تَرَ كَیۡفَ ضَرَبَ ٱللَّهُ مَثَلࣰا كَلِمَةࣰ طَیِّبَةࣰ كَشَجَرَةࣲ طَیِّبَةٍ أَصۡلُهَا ثَابِتࣱ وَفَرۡعُهَا فِی ٱلسَّمَاۤءِ ۝٢٤

Have you not seen how Allah cites an example? A good word is like a good tree, its root is firm, and its branches are in the sky.

alam tara kayfa ḍaraba l-lahu mathalan kalimatan ṭayyibatan kashajaratin ṭayyibatin aṣluhā thābitun wafarʿuhā fī l-samā

تُؤۡتِیۤ أُكُلَهَا كُلَّ حِینِۭ بِإِذۡنِ رَبِّهَاۗ وَیَضۡرِبُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡأَمۡثَالَ لِلنَّاسِ لَعَلَّهُمۡ یَتَذَكَّرُونَ ۝٢٥

It gives its food every term by its Lord’s permission. And Allah cites the examples for the people, perhaps they may be remembering.

tu'tī ukulahā kulla ḥīnin bi-idh'ni rabbihā wayaḍribu l-lahu l-amthāla lilnnāsi laʿallahum yatadhakkarūn

وَمَثَلُ كَلِمَةٍ خَبِیثَةࣲ كَشَجَرَةٍ خَبِیثَةٍ ٱجۡتُثَّتۡ مِن فَوۡقِ ٱلۡأَرۡضِ مَا لَهَا مِن قَرَارࣲ ۝٢٦

And an example of a bad word is like a malignant tree, it is being uprooted from above the earth; it has not any stability.

wamathalu kalimatin khabīthatin kashajaratin khabīthatin uj'tuthat min fawqi l-arḍi mā lahā min qarāri

یُثَبِّتُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ بِٱلۡقَوۡلِ ٱلثَّابِتِ فِی ٱلۡحَیَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنۡیَا وَفِی ٱلۡءَاخِرَةِۖ وَیُضِلُّ ٱللَّهُ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِینَۚ وَیَفۡعَلُ ٱللَّهُ مَا یَشَاۤءُ ۝٢٧

Allah stabilizes those who believed, with the constant saying, in the Dunya life, and in the Hereafter. And Allah strays the oppressors. And Allah does whatever He wills.

yuthabbitu l-lahu alladhīna āmanū bil-qawli l-thābiti fī l-ḥayati l-dun'yā wafī l-ākhirati wayuḍillu l-lahu l-ẓālimīna wayafʿalu l-lahu mā yashā

5 Man's injustice in rejecting Truth

۞ أَلَمۡ تَرَ إِلَى ٱلَّذِینَ بَدَّلُوا۟ نِعۡمَتَ ٱللَّهِ كُفۡرࣰا وَأَحَلُّوا۟ قَوۡمَهُمۡ دَارَ ٱلۡبَوَارِ ۝٢٨

Have you not seen those who altered Allah’s graces to infidelity, and placed their kinfolk into The Perdition Home?

alam tara ilā alladhīna baddalū niʿ'mata l-lahi kuf'ran wa-aḥallū qawmahum dāra l-bawār

جَهَنَّمَ یَصۡلَوۡنَهَاۖ وَبِئۡسَ ٱلۡقَرَارُ ۝٢٩

Gohanam (Hell), they flamed in it. And wretched is a settle.

jahannama yaṣlawnahā wabi'sa l-qarār

وَجَعَلُوا۟ لِلَّهِ أَندَادࣰا لِّیُضِلُّوا۟ عَن سَبِیلِهِۦۗ قُلۡ تَمَتَّعُوا۟ فَإِنَّ مَصِیرَكُمۡ إِلَى ٱلنَّارِ ۝٣٠

And they set up rivals to Allah, to stray from His pathway. Say, “Enjoy; so surely your destination to the Fire.”

wajaʿalū lillahi andādan liyuḍillū ʿan sabīlihi qul tamattaʿū fa-inna maṣīrakum ilā l-nār

قُل لِّعِبَادِیَ ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ یُقِیمُوا۟ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَیُنفِقُوا۟ مِمَّا رَزَقۡنَـٰهُمۡ سِرࣰّا وَعَلَانِیَةࣰ مِّن قَبۡلِ أَن یَأۡتِیَ یَوۡمࣱ لَّا بَیۡعࣱ فِیهِ وَلَا خِلَـٰلٌ ۝٣١

Say for My slaves who believed “establish the prayers, and spend from what we had livelihood them, secretly and publicly, before a Day will come in which there is neither selling nor intimate friendship.

qul liʿibādiya alladhīna āmanū yuqīmū l-ṣalata wayunfiqū mimmā razaqnāhum sirran waʿalāniyatan min qabli an yatiya yawmun lā bayʿun fīhi walā khilālu

ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِی خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ وَأَنزَلَ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَاۤءِ مَاۤءࣰ فَأَخۡرَجَ بِهِۦ مِنَ ٱلثَّمَرَ ٰتِ رِزۡقࣰا لَّكُمۡۖ وَسَخَّرَ لَكُمُ ٱلۡفُلۡكَ لِتَجۡرِیَ فِی ٱلۡبَحۡرِ بِأَمۡرِهِۦۖ وَسَخَّرَ لَكُمُ ٱلۡأَنۡهَـٰرَ ۝٣٢

Allah is the one Who created the skies and the earth, and sends down from the sky water, so with it He brought out from the fruitage a livelihood for you. And He subserviated the arks for you, to run in the sea with His command, and He subserviated the rivers for you.

al-lahu alladhī khalaqa l-samāwāti wal-arḍa wa-anzala mina l-samāi māan fa-akhraja bihi mina l-thamarāti riz'qan lakum wasakhara lakumu l-ful'ka litajriya fī l-baḥri bi-amrihi wasakhara lakumu l-anhār

وَسَخَّرَ لَكُمُ ٱلشَّمۡسَ وَٱلۡقَمَرَ دَاۤىِٕبَیۡنِۖ وَسَخَّرَ لَكُمُ ٱلَّیۡلَ وَٱلنَّهَارَ ۝٣٣

And He subserviated the sun and the moon for you, both continuously, and He subserviated the night and the day for you.

wasakhara lakumu l-shamsa wal-qamara dāibayni wasakhara lakumu al-layla wal-nahār

وَءَاتَىٰكُم مِّن كُلِّ مَا سَأَلۡتُمُوهُۚ وَإِن تَعُدُّوا۟ نِعۡمَتَ ٱللَّهِ لَا تُحۡصُوهَاۤۗ إِنَّ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنَ لَظَلُومࣱ كَفَّارࣱ ۝٣٤

And He has given you from all what you have asked Him. And if you count Allah’s blessings; you would not enumerate them. Surely the human is an oppressor, infidel.

waātākum min kulli mā sa-altumūhu wa-in taʿuddū niʿ'mata l-lahi lā tuḥ'ṣūhā inna l-insāna laẓalūmun kaffāru

6 Abraham's prayer

وَإِذۡ قَالَ إِبۡرَ ٰهِیمُ رَبِّ ٱجۡعَلۡ هَـٰذَا ٱلۡبَلَدَ ءَامِنࣰا وَٱجۡنُبۡنِی وَبَنِیَّ أَن نَّعۡبُدَ ٱلۡأَصۡنَامَ ۝٣٥

And when Abraham said, “O my Lord, set up this town secure, and avoid me and my sons to worship the idols.”

wa-idh qāla ib'rāhīmu rabbi ij'ʿal hādhā l-balada āminan wa-uj'nub'nī wabaniyya an naʿbuda l-aṣnām

رَبِّ إِنَّهُنَّ أَضۡلَلۡنَ كَثِیرࣰا مِّنَ ٱلنَّاسِۖ فَمَن تَبِعَنِی فَإِنَّهُۥ مِنِّیۖ وَمَنۡ عَصَانِی فَإِنَّكَ غَفُورࣱ رَّحِیمࣱ ۝٣٦

“My Lord, they have strayed a lot from the people. So, whoever followed me, so he is from me; and whoever disobeyed me, so you are Forgiver, Merciful.

rabbi innahunna aḍlalna kathīran mina l-nāsi faman tabiʿanī fa-innahu minnī waman ʿaṣānī fa-innaka ghafūrun raḥīmu

رَّبَّنَاۤ إِنِّیۤ أَسۡكَنتُ مِن ذُرِّیَّتِی بِوَادٍ غَیۡرِ ذِی زَرۡعٍ عِندَ بَیۡتِكَ ٱلۡمُحَرَّمِ رَبَّنَا لِیُقِیمُوا۟ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ فَٱجۡعَلۡ أَفۡءِدَةࣰ مِّنَ ٱلنَّاسِ تَهۡوِیۤ إِلَیۡهِمۡ وَٱرۡزُقۡهُم مِّنَ ٱلثَّمَرَ ٰتِ لَعَلَّهُمۡ یَشۡكُرُونَ ۝٣٧

“Our Lord, I have resided from my offspring with a valley not a possessor of vegetation, at Your Sacred House, our Lord, let them establish the prayers. So, set up hearts among the people fond towards them, and provide them livelihood from the fruitage, perhaps they may be thankful.”

rabbanā innī askantu min dhurriyyatī biwādin ghayri dhī zarʿin ʿinda baytika l-muḥarami rabbanā liyuqīmū l-ṣalata fa-ij'ʿal afidatan mina l-nāsi tahwī ilayhim wa-ur'zuq'hum mina l-thamarāti laʿallahum yashkurūn

رَبَّنَاۤ إِنَّكَ تَعۡلَمُ مَا نُخۡفِی وَمَا نُعۡلِنُۗ وَمَا یَخۡفَىٰ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ مِن شَیۡءࣲ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَلَا فِی ٱلسَّمَاۤءِ ۝٣٨

“Our Lord, Surely You know what we conceal and what we announce. And none among things is hiding upon Allah, in the earth or in the sky.”

rabbanā innaka taʿlamu mā nukh'fī wamā nuʿ'linu wamā yakhfā ʿalā l-lahi min shayin fī l-arḍi walā fī l-samā

ٱلۡحَمۡدُ لِلَّهِ ٱلَّذِی وَهَبَ لِی عَلَى ٱلۡكِبَرِ إِسۡمَـٰعِیلَ وَإِسۡحَـٰقَۚ إِنَّ رَبِّی لَسَمِیعُ ٱلدُّعَاۤءِ ۝٣٩

“The Praise for Allah, the one who has endowed for me, at the old age, Ishmael and Isaac. My Lord is The Calling’s Hearer.”

al-ḥamdu lillahi alladhī wahaba lī ʿalā l-kibari is'māʿīla wa-is'ḥāqa inna rabbī lasamīʿu l-duʿā

رَبِّ ٱجۡعَلۡنِی مُقِیمَ ٱلصَّلَوٰةِ وَمِن ذُرِّیَّتِیۚ رَبَّنَا وَتَقَبَّلۡ دُعَاۤءِ ۝٤٠

“My Lord, set up me, the prayers establisher and among my offspring. Our Lord, accept my calling.”

rabbi ij'ʿalnī muqīma l-ṣalati wamin dhurriyyatī rabbanā wataqabbal duʿā

رَبَّنَا ٱغۡفِرۡ لِی وَلِوَ ٰلِدَیَّ وَلِلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ یَوۡمَ یَقُومُ ٱلۡحِسَابُ ۝٤١

“Our Lord, forgive me, and my parents, and the believers, on the Day when the Reckoning will be established.”

rabbanā igh'fir lī waliwālidayya walil'mu'minīna yawma yaqūmu l-ḥisāb

7 End of Opposition

وَلَا تَحۡسَبَنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَـٰفِلًا عَمَّا یَعۡمَلُ ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَۚ إِنَّمَا یُؤَخِّرُهُمۡ لِیَوۡمࣲ تَشۡخَصُ فِیهِ ٱلۡأَبۡصَـٰرُ ۝٤٢

And do not consider that Allah is inattentive about what the oppressors are doing. He only postpones them till a Day the sights will stare in it.

walā taḥsabanna l-laha ghāfilan ʿammā yaʿmalu l-ẓālimūna innamā yu-akhiruhum liyawmin tashkhaṣu fīhi l-abṣār

مُهۡطِعِینَ مُقۡنِعِی رُءُوسِهِمۡ لَا یَرۡتَدُّ إِلَیۡهِمۡ طَرۡفُهُمۡۖ وَأَفۡءِدَتُهُمۡ هَوَاۤءࣱ ۝٤٣

Racing ahead, their heads raised up, their glance does not return to them (Not blink), and in their hearts are air (filled).

muh'ṭiʿīna muq'niʿī ruūsihim lā yartaddu ilayhim ṭarfuhum wa-afidatuhum hawāo

وَأَنذِرِ ٱلنَّاسَ یَوۡمَ یَأۡتِیهِمُ ٱلۡعَذَابُ فَیَقُولُ ٱلَّذِینَ ظَلَمُوا۟ رَبَّنَاۤ أَخِّرۡنَاۤ إِلَىٰۤ أَجَلࣲ قَرِیبࣲ نُّجِبۡ دَعۡوَتَكَ وَنَتَّبِعِ ٱلرُّسُلَۗ أَوَ لَمۡ تَكُونُوۤا۟ أَقۡسَمۡتُم مِّن قَبۡلُ مَا لَكُم مِّن زَوَالࣲ ۝٤٤

And warn the people of a day when the torment will come to them, so those who are oppressed will say, “Our Lord, postpone us to a near term, we will respond to Your call and follow the messengers.” Had you not sworn, before that you have no extinction?

wa-andhiri l-nāsa yawma yatīhimu l-ʿadhābu fayaqūlu alladhīna ẓalamū rabbanā akhir'nā ilā ajalin qarībin nujib daʿwataka wanattabiʿi l-rusula awalam takūnū aqsamtum min qablu mā lakum min zawāli

وَسَكَنتُمۡ فِی مَسَـٰكِنِ ٱلَّذِینَ ظَلَمُوۤا۟ أَنفُسَهُمۡ وَتَبَیَّنَ لَكُمۡ كَیۡفَ فَعَلۡنَا بِهِمۡ وَضَرَبۡنَا لَكُمُ ٱلۡأَمۡثَالَ ۝٤٥

And you resided in the residents of those who oppressed themselves, and it demonstrated to you how We did with them, and We cited for you the examples.

wasakantum fī masākini alladhīna ẓalamū anfusahum watabayyana lakum kayfa faʿalnā bihim waḍarabnā lakumu l-amthāl

وَقَدۡ مَكَرُوا۟ مَكۡرَهُمۡ وَعِندَ ٱللَّهِ مَكۡرُهُمۡ وَإِن كَانَ مَكۡرُهُمۡ لِتَزُولَ مِنۡهُ ٱلۡجِبَالُ ۝٤٦

And they already guiled their guiles, and with Allah their guiles, and even if their guiles, the mountains will disappear from it.

waqad makarū makrahum waʿinda l-lahi makruhum wa-in kāna makruhum litazūla min'hu l-jibāl

فَلَا تَحۡسَبَنَّ ٱللَّهَ مُخۡلِفَ وَعۡدِهِۦ رُسُلَهُۥۤۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَزِیزࣱ ذُو ٱنتِقَامࣲ ۝٤٧

So, do not consider that Allah will break His promise for His messengers. Surely Allah is Mighty, possessor of Revenge.

falā taḥsabanna l-laha mukh'lifa waʿdihi rusulahu inna l-laha ʿazīzun dhū intiqāmi

یَوۡمَ تُبَدَّلُ ٱلۡأَرۡضُ غَیۡرَ ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتُۖ وَبَرَزُوا۟ لِلَّهِ ٱلۡوَ ٰحِدِ ٱلۡقَهَّارِ ۝٤٨

On a day when the earth will be replaced, other than the earth and the skies, and they emerged for Allah, Al-Wahid (The One), Al-Qahar (The Irresistible).

yawma tubaddalu l-arḍu ghayra l-arḍi wal-samāwātu wabarazū lillahi l-wāḥidi l-qahār

وَتَرَى ٱلۡمُجۡرِمِینَ یَوۡمَىِٕذࣲ مُّقَرَّنِینَ فِی ٱلۡأَصۡفَادِ ۝٤٩

And you will see on that Day, the criminals bound together in the fetters.

watarā l-muj'rimīna yawma-idhin muqarranīna fī l-aṣfād

سَرَابِیلُهُم مِّن قَطِرَانࣲ وَتَغۡشَىٰ وُجُوهَهُمُ ٱلنَّارُ ۝٥٠

Their garments are from tar, and the Fire is over-covering their faces.

sarābīluhum min qaṭirānin wataghshā wujūhahumu l-nār

لِیَجۡزِیَ ٱللَّهُ كُلَّ نَفۡسࣲ مَّا كَسَبَتۡۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ سَرِیعُ ٱلۡحِسَابِ ۝٥١

That Allah will recompense each soul what it was earned. Surely Allah is swift in reckoning.

liyajziya l-lahu kulla nafsin mā kasabat inna l-laha sarīʿu l-ḥisāb

هَـٰذَا بَلَـٰغࣱ لِّلنَّاسِ وَلِیُنذَرُوا۟ بِهِۦ وَلِیَعۡلَمُوۤا۟ أَنَّمَا هُوَ إِلَـٰهࣱ وَ ٰحِدࣱ وَلِیَذَّكَّرَ أُو۟لُوا۟ ٱلۡأَلۡبَـٰبِ ۝٥٢

This is a notification for the people, and to be warned with it, and to know that He is only One God, and to let the minds’ possessors remember.

hādhā balāghun lilnnāsi waliyundharū bihi waliyaʿlamū annamā huwa ilāhun wāḥidun waliyadhakkara ulū l-albāb
