The Hypocrites — Musharraf Hussain Translation

63:1

إِذَا جَاۤءَكَ ٱلۡمُنَـٰفِقُونَ قَالُوا۟ نَشۡهَدُ إِنَّكَ لَرَسُولُ ٱللَّهِۗ وَٱللَّهُ یَعۡلَمُ إِنَّكَ لَرَسُولُهُۥ وَٱللَّهُ یَشۡهَدُ إِنَّ ٱلۡمُنَـٰفِقِینَ لَكَـٰذِبُونَ ۝١

Musharraf Hussain

When the hypocrites come to you they say, “We bear witness you are truly the Messenger of Allah.” Of course, Allah knows you are His Messenger, and Allah bears witness that the hypocrites are the liars.

idhā jāaka l-munāfiqūna qālū nashhadu innaka larasūlu l-lahi wal-lahu yaʿlamu innaka larasūluhu wal-lahu yashhadu inna l-munāfiqīna lakādhibūn

63:2

ٱتَّخَذُوۤا۟ أَیۡمَـٰنَهُمۡ جُنَّةࣰ فَصَدُّوا۟ عَن سَبِیلِ ٱللَّهِۚ إِنَّهُمۡ سَاۤءَ مَا كَانُوا۟ یَعۡمَلُونَ ۝٢

Musharraf Hussain

They take their oaths as a shield, then they stop others from coming to the path of Allah. What they are doing is evil.

ittakhadhū aymānahum junnatan faṣaddū ʿan sabīli l-lahi innahum sāa mā kānū yaʿmalūn

63:3

ذَ ٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمۡ ءَامَنُوا۟ ثُمَّ كَفَرُوا۟ فَطُبِعَ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِمۡ فَهُمۡ لَا یَفۡقَهُونَ ۝٣

Musharraf Hussain

First they believed, then they denied, therefore their hearts are sealed so they no longer understand.

dhālika bi-annahum āmanū thumma kafarū faṭubiʿa ʿalā qulūbihim fahum lā yafqahūn

63:4

۞ وَإِذَا رَأَیۡتَهُمۡ تُعۡجِبُكَ أَجۡسَامُهُمۡۖ وَإِن یَقُولُوا۟ تَسۡمَعۡ لِقَوۡلِهِمۡۖ كَأَنَّهُمۡ خُشُبࣱ مُّسَنَّدَةࣱۖ یَحۡسَبُونَ كُلَّ صَیۡحَةٍ عَلَیۡهِمۡۚ هُمُ ٱلۡعَدُوُّ فَٱحۡذَرۡهُمۡۚ قَـٰتَلَهُمُ ٱللَّهُۖ أَنَّىٰ یُؤۡفَكُونَ ۝٤

Musharraf Hussain

When you see them their outward appearances please you, when they speak, you listen to them, but in reality, they are like propped-up wooden posts. They think any outcry is against them. They are the enemy, so be careful of them. May Allah destroy them; they are utterly lost

wa-idhā ra-aytahum tuʿ'jibuka ajsāmuhum wa-in yaqūlū tasmaʿ liqawlihim ka-annahum khushubun musannadatun yaḥsabūna kulla ṣayḥatin ʿalayhim humu l-ʿaduwu fa-iḥ'dharhum qātalahumu l-lahu annā yu'fakūn

63:5

وَإِذَا قِیلَ لَهُمۡ تَعَالَوۡا۟ یَسۡتَغۡفِرۡ لَكُمۡ رَسُولُ ٱللَّهِ لَوَّوۡا۟ رُءُوسَهُمۡ وَرَأَیۡتَهُمۡ یَصُدُّونَ وَهُم مُّسۡتَكۡبِرُونَ ۝٥

Musharraf Hussain

When it is said to them, “Come so the Messenger of Allah so he may ask forgiveness for you,” they shake their heads and you see them turn away arrogantly.

wa-idhā qīla lahum taʿālaw yastaghfir lakum rasūlu l-lahi lawwaw ruūsahum wara-aytahum yaṣuddūna wahum mus'takbirūn

63:6

سَوَاۤءٌ عَلَیۡهِمۡ أَسۡتَغۡفَرۡتَ لَهُمۡ أَمۡ لَمۡ تَسۡتَغۡفِرۡ لَهُمۡ لَن یَغۡفِرَ ٱللَّهُ لَهُمۡۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا یَهۡدِی ٱلۡقَوۡمَ ٱلۡفَـٰسِقِینَ ۝٦

Musharraf Hussain

Whether you seek forgiveness for them or not it is the same; Allah will not forgive them. Indeed, Allah does not guide disobedient people.

sawāon ʿalayhim astaghfarta lahum am lam tastaghfir lahum lan yaghfira l-lahu lahum inna l-laha lā yahdī l-qawma l-fāsiqīn

63:7

هُمُ ٱلَّذِینَ یَقُولُونَ لَا تُنفِقُوا۟ عَلَىٰ مَنۡ عِندَ رَسُولِ ٱللَّهِ حَتَّىٰ یَنفَضُّوا۟ۗ وَلِلَّهِ خَزَاۤىِٕنُ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَلَـٰكِنَّ ٱلۡمُنَـٰفِقِینَ لَا یَفۡقَهُونَ ۝٧

Musharraf Hussain

They say, “Don’t spend on those who are with the Messenger of Allah until they leave him.” The treasures of the Heavens and the Earth belong to Allah, but the hypocrites don’t understand.

humu alladhīna yaqūlūna lā tunfiqū ʿalā man ʿinda rasūli l-lahi ḥattā yanfaḍḍū walillahi khazāinu l-samāwāti wal-arḍi walākinna l-munāfiqīna lā yafqahūn

63:8

یَقُولُونَ لَىِٕن رَّجَعۡنَاۤ إِلَى ٱلۡمَدِینَةِ لَیُخۡرِجَنَّ ٱلۡأَعَزُّ مِنۡهَا ٱلۡأَذَلَّۚ وَلِلَّهِ ٱلۡعِزَّةُ وَلِرَسُولِهِۦ وَلِلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ وَلَـٰكِنَّ ٱلۡمُنَـٰفِقِینَ لَا یَعۡلَمُونَ ۝٨

Musharraf Hussain

They claim: “When we return to Madinah, the strong will expel the weak.” All strength belongs to Allah, His Messenger and the believers, but the hypocrites don’t understand this

yaqūlūna la-in rajaʿnā ilā l-madīnati layukh'rijanna l-aʿazu min'hā l-adhala walillahi l-ʿizatu walirasūlihi walil'mu'minīna walākinna l-munāfiqīna lā yaʿlamūn

63:9

یَـٰۤأَیُّهَا ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تُلۡهِكُمۡ أَمۡوَ ٰلُكُمۡ وَلَاۤ أَوۡلَـٰدُكُمۡ عَن ذِكۡرِ ٱللَّهِۚ وَمَن یَفۡعَلۡ ذَ ٰلِكَ فَأُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ هُمُ ٱلۡخَـٰسِرُونَ ۝٩

Musharraf Hussain

Believers, don’t let your wealth and children turn you away from the remembrance of Allah; those who do so are the losers.

yāayyuhā alladhīna āmanū lā tul'hikum amwālukum walā awlādukum ʿan dhik'ri l-lahi waman yafʿal dhālika fa-ulāika humu l-khāsirūn

63:10

وَأَنفِقُوا۟ مِن مَّا رَزَقۡنَـٰكُم مِّن قَبۡلِ أَن یَأۡتِیَ أَحَدَكُمُ ٱلۡمَوۡتُ فَیَقُولَ رَبِّ لَوۡلَاۤ أَخَّرۡتَنِیۤ إِلَىٰۤ أَجَلࣲ قَرِیبࣲ فَأَصَّدَّقَ وَأَكُن مِّنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِینَ ۝١٠

Musharraf Hussain

Spend from the provisions We gave you before death comes, and you say, “My Lord, if you delay my death for a little while I will go and spend in charity and become righteous.”

wa-anfiqū min mā razaqnākum min qabli an yatiya aḥadakumu l-mawtu fayaqūla rabbi lawlā akhartanī ilā ajalin qarībin fa-aṣṣaddaqa wa-akun mina l-ṣāliḥīn

63:11

وَلَن یُؤَخِّرَ ٱللَّهُ نَفۡسًا إِذَا جَاۤءَ أَجَلُهَاۚ وَٱللَّهُ خَبِیرُۢ بِمَا تَعۡمَلُونَ ۝١١

Musharraf Hussain

Allah won’t delay death for anyone once its time has come. Allah is aware of what you do

walan yu-akhira l-lahu nafsan idhā jāa ajaluhā wal-lahu khabīrun bimā taʿmalūn
